| 4 | Carbon monoxide-induced adventitious rooting of hypo-cotyl cuttings from mung bean seedling显示文摘In this paper, the regulatory role of ex-ogenous carbon monoxide (CO) during the genera-tion and development of adventitious roots in mung bean (Phaseolus radiatus L. cv. Mingguang) hypo-cotyl cuttings was surveyed. The results indicated that, like nitric oxide (NO), CO donor Hematin in-duced adventitious rooting in dose- and time-de- pendent manners. These responses were also prov- en by the addition of gaseous CO aqueous solution with different concentrations. Additionally, the above CO-mediated effect was differently reversed when CO scavenger hemoglobin (Hb), CO specific syn-thetic inhibitor ZnPPIX, the auxin transport inhibitor NPA and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) inhibitor L-NAME were added with Hematin, respectively. | 6 | Geometric algebra method for multidimensionally-unified GIS computation显示文摘Seamless multidimensional handling and coordinate-free characteristics of geometric algebra (GA) provide means to construct multidimensionally-unified GIS computation models. Using the multivector representation for basic geometric objects within GA, we are able to construct adaptable unified geometric-topological structural models of a multidimensional geographical scene. Multidimensional operators found within the geometry, topology and GIS analysis are developed with basic GA operators. A unified computational framework is proposed, it unifies expressions and operation structures, as well as supports the analysis of multidimensional complex scenes. Finally, we illustrate modelling a three-dimensional residential district, which shows that GAbased multidimensionally-unified computation models can effectively represent and analyze complex and multidimensional geographical scenes. | 8 | The internalization pathway,metabolic fate and biological effect of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles in the macrophage-like RAW264.7 cell显示文摘The potential applications of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) in several nanomedical fields have attracted intense interest based on the cell-nano interaction. However, the mechanisms underlying cell uptake, the intracellular trail, final fate and the biological effects of SPIONs have not yet been clearly elucidated. Here, we showed that multiple endocytic pathways were involved in the internalization process of SPIONs in the RAW264.7 macrophage. The internalized SPIONs were biocompatible and used three different metabolic pathways: The SPIONs were distributed to daughter cells during mitosis; they were degraded in the lysosome and free iron was released into the intracellular iron metabolic pool; and, the intact SPIONs were potentially exocytosed out of the cells. The internalized SPIONs did not induce cell damage but affected iron metabolism, inducing the upregulation of ferritin light chain at both the mRNA and protein levels and ferroportin 1 at the mRNA level. | 10 | Effects of nape acupuncture combined with swallowing rehabilitation on dysphagia in pseudobulbar palsy显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the therapeutic effects of nape acupuncture combined with rehabilitative swallowing training for dysphagia caused by pseudobulbar palsy, and to compare it with rehabilitative swallowing training alone, and to observe the improvement in quality of life after the therapy.METHODS: One hundred patients were randomly divided into two groups: the rehabilitative swallowing training group(control group, n = 50) and the nape acupuncture combined with rehabilitative swallowing training group(experimental group,n = 50). Each group had 8 weeks' therapy, 5 times a week. Patients in the control group received rehabilitative swallowing training, while those in the experimental group received nape acupuncture therapy based on swallowing rehabilitation. The out-comes were assessed by the repetitive saliva-swallowing test(RSST), water swallow test(WST), standardized swallowing assessment(SSA), and a swallow quality-of-life questionnaire(SWAL-QOL). Correlations of onset age, onset frequency and lesion location with the efficacy of the acupuncture treatment were also observed.RESULTS: The scores for RSST, WST, and SSA in both groups were lower than before the therapy(P <0.001), although the changes were more marked in the experimental group than in the control group(RSST and WST, P < 0.005; SSA, P < 0.001). Both groups recorded changes in SWAL-QOL index after the therapy(P < 0.001); and the experimental group scored higher than the control group(P < 0.001). | 11 | Effect of aluminum silicate fiber modification on crack-resistance of a ceramic mould显示文摘To improve the crack-resistance of the mould for silica sol bonded quartz based ceramic mould casting,aluminum silicate fibers with the diameter ranging from 5 μm to 25 μm and the length about 1 mm were dispersed in the ceramic mould.The effect of the aluminum silicate fibers on the tensile strength,shrinkage rate and the cracking trend of the ceramic mould were investigated.In the ceramic slurry,quartz sand was applied as ceramic aggregate,silica sol containing 30% silicon dioxide as bonder,and the weight ratio of quartz sand to silica sol was 2.69;the dispersed fibers changed from 0 to 0.24vol.%.The mould samples were formed after the slurry was poured and gelled at room temperature,and then sintered at different temperatures ranging from 100 to 800 ℃ to measure the tensile strength and shrinkage rate.The results show that,with the aluminum silicate fiber addition increasing from 0 to 0.24vol.%,the tensile strength increases linearly from 0.175 MPa to 0.236 MPa,and the shrinkage rate decreases linearly from 1.75% to 1.68% for the ceramic mould sintered at 400 ℃,from 1.37% to 1.31% for the ceramic mould at room temperature.As the sintering temperature was raised from 100 ℃ to 800 ℃,the tensile strength increases,and the shrinkage rate decreases at all temperatures,compared with those without fiber dispersion,but their variation patterns remain the same.Furthermore,the cracking trend of the mould and its decreasing proportion were defined and analyzed quantitatively considering both effects of the fiber dispersion on the strength and shrinkage.The cracking trend appears to decrease linearly with increasing fiber content and to reach the maximum reduction of 28.8% when 0.24vol.% fiber was dispersed.Therefore,the investigation proposes a new method to improve the crack-resistance of the ceramic mould,i.e.,inorganic fiber dispersion into the ceramic mould. | Lu Dehong Wang Zhao Jiang Yehua Zhou Rong | 2012 | China Foundry2012,9,4: | 6 |
| 12 | Influence of Er_2O_3 content on microstructure and mechanical properties of ZTA-TiO_2 composites显示文摘The influence of Er_2 O_3 addition on the phase evolution and mechanical properties of sintered(1600 ℃,4 h) ZTA(yttria stabilized zirconia toughened alumina)-TiO_2 composites was investigated. The SEM and XRD results reveal the formation of a new erbium zirconium oxide,Zr_3 Er_4 O_(12),with a granulate morphology when Er_2 O_3 content is higher than 1 wt%. The grain sizes of both Al_2 O_3 and yttria-stabilized zirconia phases decrease with an increase in the Er_2 O_3 content. The relative density, Vickers hardness and fracture toughness of the composites are found to be strongly dependent on their grain sizes, relative densities and the formation of the Zr_3 Er_4 O_(12) secondary phases. | 15 | Influence of Adding Ti Powder in Preform on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Al_2O_3p/Steel Composites by Squeeze Casting显示文摘To improve the mechanical properties of alumina particulates reinforced steel matrix composite, Ti powder was added into the alumina preform, a 5140 steel matrix composite was fabricated by squeeze casting, and the influences of Ti powder on the microstructure, hardness and bending strength of the composite were investigated, compared with the composite without adding Ti powder. Applied Ti powder and alumina particulates were 10-25 μm and 100-180 μm in size, respectively. Both composites were successfully fabricated, however Ti powder addition increased the infiltration thickness of the composite. In the Ti contained composite, a TiC film in micron scale is formed on the surface of alumina particles, many TiC aggregates are dispersed in the steel matrix without obvious remaining Ti powder. The hardness and the three-point bending strength of the composite reach 49.5 HRC and 1 018 MPa, respectively, which are 17.9% and 52.4% higher than those of the composite in the absence of Ti addition. Fracture morphology shows that the debonding of alumina particulates is eliminated for the composite in the presence of Ti addition. Sessile drop test shows the average wetting angle between 5140 steel and that of Ti coated Al_2O_3 is about 82.15°, much lower than the wetting angle 150° between steel and pure Al_2O_3. | 17 | Analysis of gene expression patterns with cDNA microarray during late stage of spermatogenesis in mice显示文摘The differentiation process of round spermat-ids to spermatozoa during the late stage of spermatogenesis is called spermiogenesis. To explore spermiogenesis-related genes, cDNA microarray was used to study expression patterns of 1176 genes in pachytene spermatocytes, round spermatids and elongating spermatids of Balb/c mice. The results showed that 208 genes were detected in all the three cell types. Most of them were down-regulated from pachytene spermatocytes to round spermatids and elongating spermatids. However, up-regulation of 7 genes expression in round spermatids and 3 genes in elongating spermatids were found. Expression of 7 differentially expressed genes in cDNA arrays was further confirmed by semi-quantitative RT-PCR study. The RT-PCR results indicated that the expression of 6 genes was consistent with that in cDNA arrays, only one gene did not show differential expression by RT-PCR. | 19 | Chronic inflammation deteriorates structure and function of collagen fibril in rat temporomandibular joint disc显示文摘Collagen is the building component of temporomandibular joint(TMJ) discs and is often affected by inflammation in temporomandibular disorders. The macromechanical properties of collagen are deteriorated by chronic inflammation. However,the mechanism by which inflammation influences disc function remains unknown. The relationship between the ultrastructure and nanomechanical properties of collagen in inflamed discs should be clarified. Seven-week-old female Sprague–Dawley rats were randomly divided into two groups. Chronic TMJ inflammation was induced by intra-articular injection of complete Freund's adjuvant, and samples were harvested after 5 weeks. Picrosirius staining revealed multiple colours under polarized light, which represented alternative collagen bundles in inflamed discs. Using atomic force microscopy scanning, the magnitude of Young's modulus was reduced significantly accompanied with disordered collagen fibril arrangement with porous architecture of inflamed discs. Transmission electron microscopy scanning revealed a non-uniform distribution of collagen fibres, and oversized collagen fibrils were observed in inflamed discs. Fourier transform infrared microspectroscopy revealed a decrease in 1 338 cm^(-1)/amide II area ratio of collagen in different regions. The peak positions of amide I and amide II bands were altered in inflamed discs,indicating collagen unfolding.
