| 1 | Genome-wide association study and transcriptome analysis reveal new QTL and candidate genes for nitrogen-deficiency tolerance in rice显示文摘The development of rice cultivars with improved nitrogen use efficiency(NUE)is desirable for sustainable agriculture.Achieving this goal depends in part on understanding how rice responds to low soil nitrogen(N)and identifying causative genes underlying this trait.To identify quantitative trait loci(QTL)or genes associated with low N response,we conducted a genome-wide association study(GWAS)using a diverse panel of 230 rice accessions and performed a transcriptomic investigation of rice accessions with differential responses to low N stress at two N levels.We detected 411 GWAS-associated genes in 5 QTL and 2722 differentially expressed genes in response to low N,of which 24 were identified by both methods and ranked according to gene annotations,literature queries,gene expression,and genetic diversity analysis.The large-scale datasets obtained from this study reveal low N-responsive characteristics and provide insights towards understanding the regulatory mechanisms of N-deficiency tolerance in rice,and the candidate genes or QTL would be valuable resources for increasing rice NUE via molecular biotechnology. | Qing Li Xueli Lu Changjian Wang Lan Shen Liping Dai Jinli He Long Yang Peiyuan Li Yifeng Hong Qiang Zhang Guojun Dong Jiang Hu Guangheng Zhang Deyong Ren Zhenyu Gao Longbiao Guo Qian Qian Li Zhu Dali Zeng | 2022 | The Crop Journal2022,10,4: | 3 |
| 2 | Prediction and verification of heat capacities for pure ionic liquids显示文摘The heat capacity of ionic liquids is an important physical property,and experimental measuring is usually used as a common method to obtain them.Owing to the huge number of ionic liquids that can be potentially synthesized,it is desirable to acquire theoretical predictions.In this work,the Conductor-like Screening Model for Real Solvents(COSMO-RS)was used to predict the heat capacity of pure ionic liquids,and an intensive literature survey was conducted for providing a database to verify the prediction of COSMO-RS.The survey shows that the heat capacity is available for 117 ionic liquids at temperatures ranging 77.66-520 K since 2004,and the 4025 data points in total with the values from 76.37 to 1484 J·mol^(-1)·K^(-1) have been reported.The prediction of heat capacity with COSMO-RS can only be conducted at two temperatures(298 and 323 K).The comparison with the experimental data proves the prediction reliability of COSMO-RS,and the average relative deviation(ARD)is 8.54%.Based on the predictions at two temperatures,a linear equation was obtained for each ionic liquid,and the heat capacities at other temperatures were then estimated via interpolation and extrapolation.The acquired heat capacities at other temperatures were then compared with the experimental data,and the ARD is only 9.50%.This evidences that the heat capacity of a pure ionic liquid follows a linear equation within the temperature range of study,and COSMO-RS can be used to predict the heat capacity of ionic liquids reliably. | Zhengxing Dai Yifeng Chen Chang Liu Xiaohua Lu Yanrong Liu Xiaoyan Ji | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,3: | 2 |

| 4 | Combination of magnesium ions and vitamin C alleviates synovitis and osteophyte formation in osteoarthritis of mice显示文摘Introduction:We previously demonstrated that magnesium ions(Mg^(2+))was a novel therapeutic alternative for osteoarthritis(OA)through promoting the hypoxia inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α)-mediated cartilage matrix synthesis.However,oxidative stress can inhibit the expression of HIF-1α,amplify the inflammation that potentially impairs the therapeutic efficacy of Mg^(2+) in OA.Vitamin(VC),a potent antioxidant,may enhance the efficacy of Mg^(2+) in OA treatment.This study aims to investigate the efficacy of combination of Mg^(2+)and VC on alleviating joint destruction and pain in OA.Material and methods:Anterior cruciate ligament transection with partial medial meniscectomy induced mice OA model were randomly received intra-articular injection of either saline,MgCl2(0.5 mol/L),VC(3 mg/ml)or MgCl2(0.5 mol/L)plus VC(3 mg/ml)at week 2 post-operation,twice weekly,for 2 weeks.Joint pain and pathological changes were assessed by gait analysis,histology,western blotting and micro-CT.Results:Mg^(2+) and VC showed additive effects to significantly alleviate the joint destruction and pain.The efficacy of this combined therapy could sustain for 3 months after the last injection.We demonstrated that VC enhanced the promotive effect of Mg^(2+) on HIF-1αexpression in cartilage.Additionally,combination of Mg^(2+) and VC markedly promoted the M2 polarization of macrophages in synovium.Furthermore,combination of Mg^(2+) and VC inhibited osteophyte formation and expressions of pain-related neuropeptides.Conclusions:Intra-articular administration of Mg^(2+)and VC additively alleviates joint destruction and pain in OA.Our current formulation may be a cost-effective alternative treatment for OA. | Hao Yao Jiankun Xu Jiali Wang Yifeng Zhang Nianye Zheng Jiang Yue Jie Mi Lizhen Zheng Bingyang Dai Wenhan Huang Shuhang Yung Peijie Hu Yechun Ruan Qingyun Xue Kiwai Ho Ling Qin | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,5: | 1 |

| 8 | Zooplankton community size-structure change and mesh size selection under the thermal stress caused by a power plant in a semi-enclosed bay显示文摘Zooplankton samples were collected using 505, 160 and 77 μm mesh nets around a power plant during four seasons in 2011. We measured total length of zooplankton and divided zooplankton into seven size classes in order to explore how zooplankton community size-structure might be altered by thermal discharge from power plant. The total length of zooplankton varied from 93.7 to 40 074.7 μm. The spatial distribution of mesozooplankton(200-2 000 μm) populations were rarely affected by thermal discharge, while macro-(2 000-10 000 μm)and megalo-zooplankton(>10 000 μm) had an obvious tendency to migrate away from the outfall of power plant.Thus, zooplankton community tended to become smaller and biodiversity reduced close to power plant.Moreover, we compared the zooplankton communities in three different mesh size nets. Species richness,abundance, evenness index and Shannon-Wiener diversity index of the 505 μm mesh size were significantly lower than those recorded from the 160 and 77 μm mesh size. Average zooplankton abundance was highest in the 77 μm mesh net((27 690.0±1 633.7) ind./m^3), followed by 160 μm mesh net((9 531.1±1 079.5) ind./m^3), and lowest in 505 μm mesh net((494.4±104.7) ind./m^3). The ANOSIM and SIMPER tests confirmed that these differences were mainly due to small zooplankton and early developmental stages of zooplankton. It is the first time to use the 77 μm mesh net to sample zooplankton in such an environment. The 77 μm mesh net had the overwhelming abundance of the copepod genus Oithona, as an order of magnitude greater than recorded for 160 μm mesh net and 100% loss through the 505 μm mesh net. | 12 | Combining in-situ TEM observations and theoretical calculation for revealing the thermal stability of CeO_(2) nanoflowers显示文摘The thermal stability of Ce_(2) nanomaterials can directly impact both the uniformity of the supported catalysts and the catalytic behavior of Ce_(2) itself.However,knowledge about the thermal stability of Ce_(2) is still deficient.Here,we conduct in-situ transmission electron microscopy experiments and theoretical calculations to elucidate the thermal stability of Ce_(2) nanomaterials under different environments.A sinter(<700℃)and a structural decomposition(>700℃)are observed within Ce_(2) nanoflowers under O_(2).The sinter firstly occurs among the nanoflowers’monomers and then the sintered nanoparticles structurally decompose to tiny nanoparticles from the strain interface.Under a vacuum environment,the Ce_(2) nanoflowers firstly undergo a transition from cubic fluorite Ce_(2) to hexagonal Ce_(2)O_(3),accompanied by the oxygen release.The Ce_(2)O_(3) nanoparticles further atomically sublimate from the edges to the center under high temperatures.Theoretical calculation results reveal a considerably lower energy barrier for the structural decomposition under O_(2) and for the sublimation under vacuum.This work provides a perspective on the structural design and performance optimization of Ce_(2)-based catalysts. | Mingyun Zhu Kuibo Yin Yifeng Wen Shugui Song Yuwei Xiong Yunqian Dai Litao Sun | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,2: | 0 |
