| 1 | Activation of northern margin of the North China Craton in Late Paleozoic:Evidence from U-Pb dating and Hf isotopes of detrital zircons from the Upper Carboniferous Taiyuan Formation in the Ningwu-Jingle basin显示文摘LA-MC-ICPMS U-Pb dating has been performed on detrital zircons from the Upper Carboniferous Tai-yuan Formation (N-8) in the Ningwu-Jingle Basin, west of the North China Craton (NCC). The ages of 72 detrital zircon grains are divided into three groups: 303―320 Ma (6 grains), 1631―2194 Ma (37 grains, peaked at 1850 Ma), 2318―2646 Ma (29 grains, peaked at 2500 Ma). Detrital zircons of Group 2 and Group 3 were likely derived from the basement of the NCC. Group 1 zircons exhibit 176Hf/177Hf ratios ranging from 0.281725 to 0.282239, with corresponding negative εHf(t) values of -12.4―-30.3 and old Hf model ages of 1.4―2.2 Ga. These characteristics show a strong resemblance to those of Carboniferous igneous zircons from the Inner Mongolia Paleo-uplift (IMPU) on the northern margin of the NCC, but differ significantly from those of the Xing-Meng Orogenic Belt, suggesting that the source of the Tai-yuan Formation partly came from the IMPU. All detrital zircons of Group 1 have relatively high Th/U ratios (> 0.67), indicating a magmatic origin. The mean age (304 ± 6 Ma) of the two youngest grains is close to the depositional age of the Taiyuan Formation, suggesting a strong tectonic uplift and magmatism in the IMPU during the Late Carboniferous. | 2 | Research of a novel biodegradable surgical staple made of high purity magnesium显示文摘Surgical staples made of pure titanium and titanium alloys are widely used in gastrointestinal anastomosis.However the Ti staple cannot be absorbed in human body and produce artifacts on computed tomography(CT)and other imaging examination,and cause the risk of incorrect diagnosis.The bioabsorbable staple made from polymers that can degrade in human body environment,is an alternative.In the present study,biodegradable high purity magnesium staples were developed for gastric anastomosis.U-shape staples with two different interior angles,namely original 90and modified 100,were designed.Finite element analysis(FEA)showed that the residual stress concentrated on the arc part when the original staple was closed to B-shape,while it concentrated on the feet for the modified staple after closure.The in vitro tests indicated that the arc part of the original staple ruptured firstly after 7 days immersion,whereas the modified one kept intact,demonstrating residual stress greatly affected the corrosion behavior of the HP-Mg staples.The in vivo implantation showed good biocompatibility of the modified Mg staples,without inflammatory reaction 9 weeks post-operation.The Mg staples kept good closure to the Anastomosis,no leaking and bleeding were found,and the staples exhibited no fracture or severe corrosion cracks during the degradation. | Hongliu Wu Changli Zhao Jiahua Ni Shaoxiang Zhang Jingyi Liu Jun Yan Yigang Chen Xiaonong Zhang | 2016 | Bioactive Materials2016,1,2: | 3 |
| 3 | Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for patients with acute leukemia显示文摘Objective: The purposes of this study were to assess the efficacy of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) for acute leukemia (AL) and analyze the factors affecting the prognosis of these patients. Methods: The clinical and follow-up data of 93 AL patients (median age, 30 years) undergoing allogeneic HSCT in Xiangya Hospital over the past 12 years were collected, and the potential factors affecting the efficacy and prognosis of allogeneic HSCT patients were determined. Results: Hematopoietic reconstitution was achieved in 90 patients. At the last follow-up, the incidences of severe acute graft versus host disease (aGvHD) and extensive chronic GvHD (cGvHD) were 14.0% and 20.0%, the 3-year cumulative incidence of transplantation related mortality (TRM) and relapse rate were 16.8%±6.1% and 21.3%±6.7%, and the estimated 3-year overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) of the patients were 64.6%±5.4% and 56.5%±5.5%, respectively. Univariate analysis indicated that age older than 40 years, HLA mismatch, and severe lung infection within the first 100 days after transplantation were risk factors for severe aGvHD, age older than 40 years, HLA mismatch, severe lung infection within the first 100 days after transplantation, and severe aGvHD were risk factors for TRM, high-risk AL and lack of cGvHD were risk factors for relapse (all P<0.05). Survival estimation showed that HLA mismatch, severe lung infection occurring within the first 100 days post-transplantation, high-risk AL severe aGvHD and lack of cGvHD were risk factors associated with poor prognosis (all P<0.05). Further multivariate analyses revealed that severe lung infection within the first 100 days post-transplantation, severe aGvHD and lack of cGvHD were independent risk factors for unfavorable outcomes (all P<0.05). | 4 | Effects of additive gases on dimethyl ether conversion through dielectric barrier discharge显示文摘Effects of additive gases on dimethyl ether(DME) conversion through dielectric barrier discharge(DBD) were investigated. Most of the additive gases tested in this work increased the conversion of DME,but decreased the yield of liquid product. However,the addition of O2 markedly increased both the conversion of DME and the yield of liquid product. The results show that when O2 volume fraction was 39.95%,the conversion of DME was close to 100% and the yield of liquid product reached 34.43%. | 8 | Is proton a charge carrier for δ-MnO_(2) cathode in aqueous rechargeable magnesium-ion batteries?显示文摘Manganese dioxide(MnO_(2)) is considered as a potential cathode material for aqueous magnesium-ion batteries. However, the charge/discharge mechanism of MnO_(2)in aqueous electrolyte is still unclear. In present study, highly porous δ-MnO_(2) is investigated, which delivers a high capacity of 252.1 m Ah g^(-1) at 0.05 A g^(-1) and excellent rate capability, i.e., 109.7 m Ah g^(-1) at 1 A g^(-1), but a low-capacity retention of 54.4% after 800 cycles at 1 A g^(-1). The two-step discharging process, namely a consequent H^(+) and Mg^(2+) insertion reaction, is verified, by comparing the electrochemical performance of δ-MnO_(2) in 1 M MgCl_(2) and 1 M MnCl_(2) aqueous electrolyte and analyzing detailedly the Mg content and the bonding state of Mn at different charge/discharge state. | 20 | Correlating plasma endothelin-1 and beta-endorphin levels to nine risk factors of acute cerebral infarction显示文摘BACKGROUND: Several studies have confirmed that endothelin and endorphin are involved in the occurrence of cerebral vasospasm. However,the correlation of these factors to acute cerebral infarction-related risk factors needs to be confirmed. OBJECTIVE: To detect endothelin-1 (ET-1) and beta-endorphin (β-EP) levels in plasma of patients with acute cerebral infarction,and to analyze the correlations of these factors to smoking,alcohol abuse,hypertension,diabetes mellitus,diseased region,diseased degree,gender,and other factors related to acute cerebral infarction. DESIGN: A case-control observation. SETTING: First Department of Neurology,Guangdong Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Department of Neurology,Second Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. PARTICIPANTS: Sixty-nine inpatients with acute cerebral infarction were admitted to the Department of Neurology,Second Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University (March 2003-January 2004) and First Department of Neurology,Guangdong Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (March-July 2004) and recruited for this study. All 69 inpatients corresponded to the diagnosis criteria of acute cerebral infarction,formulated in the National Working Conference of Cerebrovascular Disease in 1998,and were confirmed as acute cerebral infarction by CT/MRI. The patient group consisted of 35 males (64±12) years old and 34 females (67±13 ) years old. Among them,9 patients were smokers,7 were alcohol users,48 had a history of hypertension,and 16 had a history of diabetes mellitus. CT/MRI examinations revealed that 35 patients presented with left focus sites,11 with right ones and 23 with bilateral ones. Following attack,24 patients had Barthel Index Scale grading < 40 points,21 patients 40-60 points,and 24 patients > 60 points. An additional 59 healthy individuals,who received health examinations simultaneously,were included as controls. Among the control subjects,there were 37 males (62±10) years old and 22 females (65±11) years old. Among them,7 patients were smokers,and 6 were alcohol users. All controls had no history of stroke,hypertension,or diabetes mellitus. Informed consents of laboratory measurements were obtained from all subjects,and this study was approved by the Hospital Ethics Committee. METHODS: ① Following admission,all subjects were scored by Barthel Index Scale (BIS) and Hamilton Depression Scale. Meanwhile,hypertension,diabetes mellitus,gender,smoking,drinking,and other conditions were recorded. CT/MRI examination was conducted to identify the focus site. ② On the 2nd day after admission,ET-1 and β-EP plasma levels were measured with an automatic ET-1 and β-EP analysis kit. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: ET-1 and β-EP plasma levels and their correlation to acute cerebral infarction-related factors. RESULTS: Sixty-nine patients with acute cerebral infarction,and an additional 59 healthy individuals participated in the final analysis. ① ET-1 (63.80±27.65) ng/L vs. (46.50±9.36) ng/L,P < 0.05 and β-EP (94.18±33.94) mg/L vs. (51.87±23.43) mg/L,P < 0.05 levels of the patient group were obviously higher than respective values of the control group. ② The ET-1 and β-EP levels of patients with cerebral infarction did not correlate to hypertension,diabetes mellitus,BIS,depression,cerebral infarct focus,disease course,gender,smoking or drinking (P > 0.05).
