| 1 | Therapeutic effect in patients with coronary heart disease based on information analysis from Traditional Chinese Medicine four diagnostic methods显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To study information gained by Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)four diagnostic methods and characteristics of syndrome development before and after treatment in patients with coronary heart disease,and to probe into assessment indexes of therapeutic effects with distinctive TCM features.METHODS:Information from the four diagnostic methods before and after treatment in 100 patients with coronary heart disease was collected using the TCM interrogation scale,a pulse condition instrument,a tongue-face diagnosis instrument,anda voice diagnosis information collection system.Changes in the four diagnostic method results from before and after treatment were analyzed with frequency analysis and t-test methods.RESULTS:Before treatment,deficiency syndrome complicated with hyperactivity of pathogenic factors was most common.After treatment,deficiency syndrome was most common.This change from complex syndromes to single syndromes indicates disease and syndrome alleviation.Frequencies of symptoms gained by interrogation after treatment for syndrome of deficiency of heart-Qi,syndrome of deficiency of heart-Yin,and turbid phlegm syndrome were all less severe than those before treatment.Parameters of face color,color on all sub-regions of tongue,color of tongue fur,septic and greasy fur,and lip color after treatment all had significant changes.After treatment,part of the voice diagnosis parameters in the deficiency of heart-Yin and turbid phlegm syndromes had significant changes,but no significant changes were found in the deficiency of heart-Qi syndrome.CONCLUSION:Use of the TCM four diagnostic methods can provide an effective basis forTCM syndrome diagnosis,observation of development of state of illness,and evaluation of clinical therapeutic effects. | Yiqin Wang Jin Xu Rui Guo Chaoxia Xu Yiming Hao Chunfeng Chen Yijian Hong Xiangqun Xiao Wenjie Xu Jing Hong Zhao Lei | 2014 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2014,34,1: | 12 |
| 2 | Roles of a sustained activation of NCED3 and the synergistic regulation of ABA biosynthesis and catabolism in ABA signal production in Arabidopsis显示文摘ABA, acting as a stress signal, plays crucial roles in plant resistance to water stress. Because ABA signal production is based on ABA biosynthesis, the regulation of NCED, a key enzyme in the ABA biosynthesis pathway, is normally thought of as the sole factor controlling ABA signal production. Here we demonstrate that ABA catabolism in combination with a synergistic regulation of ABA biosynthesis plays a crucial role in governing ABA signal production. Water stress induced a significant accumulation of ABA, which exhibited different patterns in detached and attached leaves. ABA catabolism followed a temporal trend of exponential decay for both basic and stress ABA, and there was little difference in the catabolic half-lives of basic ABA and stress ABA. Thus, the absolute rate of ABA catabolism, i.e. the amount of ABA catabolized per unit time, increases with increased ABA accumulation. From the dynamic processes of ABA biosynthesis and catabolism, it can be inferred that stress ABA accumulation may be governed by a synergistic regulation of all the steps in the ABA biosynthesis pathway. Moreover, to maintain an elevated level of stress ABA sustained activation of NCED3 should be required. This inference was supported by further findings that the genes encoding major enzymes in the ABA biosynthesis pathway, e.g. NCED3, AAO3 and ABA3 were all activated by water stress, and with ABA accumulation progressing, the expressions of NCED3, AAO3 and ABA3 remained activated. | 3 | Normal Structure and Function of Endothecium Chloroplasts Maintained by ZmMs33-Mediated Lipid Biosynthesis in Tapetal Cells Are Critical for Anther Development in Maize显示文摘Genic male sterility(GMS)is critical for heterosis utilization and hybrid seed production.Although GMS mutants and genes have been studied extensively in plants,it has remained unclear whether chloroplast-associated photosynthetic and metabolic activities are involved in the regulation of anther development.In this study,we characterized the function of ZmMs33/ZmGPAT6,which encodes a member of the glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase(GPAT)family that catalyzes the first step of the glycerolipid synthetic pathway.We found that normal structure and function of endothecium(En)chloroplasts maintained by ZmMs33-mediated lipid biosynthesis in tapetal cells are crucial for maize anther development.ZmMs33 is expressed mainly in the tapetum at early anther developmental stages and critical for cell proliferation and expansion at late stages.Chloroplasts in En cells of wild-type anthers function as starch storage sites before stage 10 but as photosynthetic factories since stage 10 to enable starch metabolism and carbohydrate supply.Loss of ZmMs33 function inhibits the biosynthesis of glycolipids and phospholipids,which are major components of En chloroplast membranes,and disrupts the development and function of En chloroplasts,resulting in the formation of abnormal En chloroplasts containing numerous starch granules.Further analyses reveal that starch synthesis during the day and starch degradation at night are greatly suppressed in the mutant anthers,leading to carbon starvation and low energy status,as evidenced by low trehalose-6-phosphate content and a reduced ATP/AMP ratio.The energy sensor and inducer of autophagy,SnRK1,was activated to induce early and excessive autophagy,premature PCD,and metabolic reprogramming in tapetal cells,finally arresting the elongation and development of mutant anthers.Taken together,our results not only show that ZmMs33 is required for normal structure and function of En chloroplasts but also reveal that starch metabolism and photosynthetic activities of En chloroplasts at different developmental stages are essential for normal anther development.These findings provide novel insights for understanding how lipid biosynthesis in the tapetum,the structure and function of En chloroplasts,and energy and substance metabolism are coordinated to maintain maize anther development. | Taotao Zhu Ziwen Li Xueli An Yan Long Xiaofeng Xue Ke Xie Biao Ma Danfeng Zhang Yijian Guan Canfang Niu Zhenying Dong Quancan Hou Lina Zhao Suowei Wu Jinping Li Weiwei Jin Xiangyuan Wan | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,11: | 9 |
| 4 | Gait speed and hospitalization among ambulatory hemodialysis patients: USRDS special study data显示文摘AIM:To assess the association of measured gait speed with hemodialysis(HD)patients’hospitalization,in conjunction with,and apart from,recent fall history.METHODS:Gait speed was measured by a standard protocol and falls during the past 12 mo were ascertained for a prevalent multi-center HD cohort(n=668)aged 20-92.Hospitalization during the past 12 mo was identified in the patient’s clinic records,and the first hospitalization after gait speed assessment(or the competing event of death)was identified in the 2013 United States Renal Data System Standard Analysis Files.RESULTS:Slow gait speed,defined as<0.8 m/s,characterized 34.7%of the patients,and 27.1%had experienced a recent fall.Patients with slow gait speed but without a history of recent falls were 1.79 times more likely to have been hospitalized during the past12 mo(OR=1.79,95%CI:1.11-2.88,P=0.02),and patients with slow gait speed and a history of recent falls were over two times more likely to have been hospitalized(OR=2.10,95%CI:1.19-3.73,P=0.01),compared with patients having faster gait speed and no recent fall history.Prospective examination of gait speed/fall history status in relation to first hospitalization(or death)incurred by the end of follow-up December 31,2011 also showed that slow gait speed was associated with these events in conjunction with a history of falls(HR=1.54,95%CI:1.04-2.30,P=0.03).CONCLUSION:The International Task Force on Nutrition and Aging reported that gait speed is a powerful predictor for older adults of adverse outcomes such as hospitalization.In our data,gait speed--apart from,as well as in conjunction with,recent fall history--was associated with HD patients’hospitalization for multiple causes.Gait speed may be a sensitive health indicator among HD patients across the age spectrum. | Nancy G Kutner Rebecca Zhang Yijian Huang Haimanot Wasse | 2014 | World Journal of Nephrology2014,3,3: | 8 |
| 5 | New evidence for the links between the local water cycle and the underground wet sand layer of a mega-dune in the Badain Jaran Desert, China显示文摘Scientists and the local government have great concerns about the climate change and water resources in the Badain Jaran Desert of western China. A field study for the local water cycle of a lake-desert system was conducted near the Noertu Lake in the Badain Jaran Desert from 21 June to 26 August 2008. An underground wet sand layer was observed at a depth of 20–50 cm through analysis of datasets collected during the field experiment. Measurements unveiled that the near surface air humidity increased in the nighttime. The sensible and latent heat fluxes were equivalent at a site about 50 m away from the Noertu Lake during the daytime, with mean values of 134.4 and 105.9 W/m2 respectively. The sensible heat flux was dominant at a site about 500 m away from the Noertu Lake, with a mean of 187.7 W/m2, and a mean latent heat flux of only 26.7 W/m2. There were no apparent differences for the land surface energy budget at the two sites during the night time. The latent heat flux was always negative with a mean value of –12.7 W/m2, and the sensible heat flux was either positive or negative with a mean value of 5.10 W/m2. A portion of the local precipitation was evaporated into the air and the top-layer of sand dried quickly after every rainfall event, while another portion seeped deep and was trapped by the underground wet sand layer, and supplied water for surface psammophyte growth. With an increase of air humidity and the occurrence of negative latent heat flux or water vapor condensation around the Noertu Lake during the nighttime, we postulated that the vapor was transported and condensed at the lakeward sand surface, and provided supplemental underground sand pore water. | 6 | A high-resolution seismic catalog for the 2021 M_(S)6.4/M_(W)6.1 Yangbi earthquake sequence, Yunnan, China: Application of AI picker and matched filter显示文摘We present a high-resolution seismic catalog for the 2021 M_(S)6.4/M_(W)6.1 Yangbi sequence.The catalog has a time range of 2021-05-01 to 2021-05-28,and contains~8,000 well located events.It captures the features of the whole foreshock sequence and the early aftershocks.We designed a detection strategy incorporating both an artificial intelligent(AI)picker and a matched filter algorithm.Here,we adopt a hybrid AI method incorporating convolutional and recurrent neural network(CNN&RNN)for event detection and phase picking respectively(i.e.CERP),a light-weight AI picker that can be trained with small volume of data.CERP is first trained with detections from a STA/LTA and Kurtosis-based method called PAL,and then construct a rather complete template set of~4,000 events.Finally,the matched filter algorithm MESS augments the initial detections and measures differential travel times with cross-correlation,which finally results in precise relocation.This process gives 9,026 detections,among which 7,943 events can be well relocated.The catalog shows as expected power-law distribution of frequency magnitude and reveals detailed pattern of seismicity evolution.The main features are:(1)the foreshock sequence images simple fault geometry with consistent strike,but also show a variable event depth along strike;(2)the mainshock ruptures the same fault of the foreshock sequence and activate conjugate faults further to the southeast;(3)complex seismicity are developed in the post-seismic period,indicating complex triggering mechanisms.Thus,our catalog provides a reliable basis for further investigations,such as b-value studies,rupture process,and triggering relations. | Yijian Zhou Abhijit Ghosh Lihua Fang Han Yue Shiyong Zhou Youjin Su | 2021 | Earthquake Science2021,34,5: | 6 |
| 7 | A test on methods for MC estimation based on earthquake catalog显示文摘This study tested five methods widely used in estimating the complete magnitudes(M_C) of earthquake catalogs. Using catalogs of observed earthquake properties, we test the performance of these five algorithms under several challenging conditions, such as small volume of events and spatial-temporal heterogeneity, in order to see whether the algorithms are stable and in agreement with known data. We find that the maximum curvature method(MAXC) has perfect stability, but will significantly underestimate M_C unless heterogeneity is absent. M_C estimated by the b-value stability method(MBS) requires many events to reach a stable result. Results from the goodness of fit method(GFT) were unstable when heterogeneity lowered the fitness level. The entire magnitude range method(EMR) is relatively stable in most conditions, and can reflect the change in M_C when heterogeneity exists, but when the incomplete part of the earthquake catalog is dismissed, this method fails. The median-based analysis of the segment slope method(MBASS) can tolerate small sample size, but is incapable of reflecting the missing degree of small events in aftershock sequences. Liensinine has been proved to have hypotensive effect. However, the effect of liensinine on GBC is still unknown. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect and mechanism of liensinine in human GBC cells. Cell viability assay and colony formation assay were performed to assess cell growth and proliferation. Flow cytometry analysis was used to investigate cell cycle apoptosis in vitro. Hoechst 33342 staining was also used to evaluate cell apoptosis. Western blot analysis was used to determine the expression of proteins corresponding to the related cell cycle and apoptosis.The effect of liensinine treatment in vivo was experimented with xenografted tumors. We found that liensinine significantly inhibited the growth of GBC cells both in vivo and in vitro. In vitro, cell growth and proliferation were significantly suppressed by liensinine in a dose- and time-dependent manner. In vivo, liensinine inhibited tumor growth. Liensinine could induce GBC cells G2/M phase arrest by up-regulating the levels of Cyclin B1 and CDK1 proteins. Liensinine also affected GBC cell cycle progress!on and induced apoptosis by down-regulating phosphorylated protein kinase B (AKT), phosphorylated protein kinase B (p-AKT), phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K), and Zinc finger X-chromosomal protein (ZFX) proteins. | 13 | Microwave propagation in air drilling显示文摘This paper examines the feasibility in air drilling of transmitting down-hole signals by using microwaves. Firstly the basic theory of microwave propagation in the drill-pipe or casing was studied, including power loss, cutoff wavelength, and dust scattering. Theoretical analysis indicates that the microwave propagation distance in a Ф214mm casing can easily reach 5,000 m. When the effect of dust particles is taken into account, the propagation distance decreases to 2,000 m. We conducted both laboratory experiments and field tests in casings commonly used in oilfields. The field tests show that the effective propagation distance of microwave in the casing is about 1,300 m. The experimental results do not match well with theoretical prediction, but are acceptable. | 15 | Cellular apoptosis and Caspase-12 expression in a rat model of progressive spinal cord compression显示文摘BACKGROUND:Studies have demonstrated that the mechanisms underlying cellular apoptosis signal transduction focus on two pathways:intracellular mitochondria and extracellular death receptor.The current evidence supports that signal transduction of cellular apoptosis also includes endoplasmic reticulum stress signal transduction. OBJECTIVE:To observe Caspase-12 expression and cellular apoptosis following ischemia in rats with progressive spinal cord compression,and to verify the influence of endoplasmic reticulum stress on the apoptosis induced by spinal cord injury. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A randomized,controlled,animal trial was performed at the Institute of Neuroscience in Chongqing Medical University between January and October in 2006. MATERIALS:Immunohistochemical kit,diaminobenzidine,and TUNEL kit were purchased from Beijing Zhongshan Biotechnology,China;rabbit anti-rat Caspase-12 monoclonal antibody was provided by Santa Cruz,USA. METHODS:Sixty Wistar rats,aged 3-4 months,were randomly assigned to a model group(n=50), which underwent spinal cord compression in the L_1 segment following L_1 laminectomy and articular process excision to establish a model of progressive spinal cord compression,and a sham-surgery group(n=10),which underwent only laminectomy.Starting with the first day after surgery,the rats were locally anesthetized,the skin was opened,and the screw was rotated by 1/4 of a cycle,twice weekly. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:At 3,7,14,21,and 28 days after surgery,rats from each group were anesthetized,and the spinal cords were resected.Pathological changes following spinal cord compression were determined using hematoxylin-eosin staining,Nissl dye,and transmission electron microscopy.The TUNEL method was used to observe neuronal apoptosis in the compressed spinal cord segments.Immunohistochemistry and Western blot were utilized to detect Caspase-12 expression in the compressed segments. RESULTS:Cellular swelling,neural degeneration,and altered endoplasmic reticulum structures were observed at 3 days following compression.Symptoms became gradually aggravated with increasing compression time.Compared with the sham-surgery group,the number of apoptotic neurons was remarkably increased in compressed segments of the model group(P<0.05),and Caspase-12 expression was also shown to increase(P<0.05). | 17 | Analyses of an Improved Double-Absorber Absorption Refrigeration System at Low Temperatures显示文摘An auto-cascade absorption refrigeration(ACAR)system could achieve a-60℃ refrigeration temperature by low-grade heat.For an ACAR system,its performance is mainly affected by energy and mass coupling of the auto-cascade processes.A novel ACAR system with double-absorber was proposed to get higher-efficient refrigeration as low as-60℃ in this context,which used R23-R134 a-DMF(N,N-Dimethylformamide)as its working fluids.Theoretical calculation and analyses were conducted under different working conditions.From the calculated results,the new system gained a COP value 20%higher than that of an ACAR system with single-absorber under the same generating,condensing,absorbing and refrigerating temperatures.Compositions of a refrigerant mixture showed key influences on energy and mass coupling of the auto-cascade processes,and an optimal composition of the mixed refrigerants was obtained for the new ACAR system.In addition,it was clearly found that absorbing processes of the new system had great effects on energy and mass coupling of the auto-cascade processes.Based on the difference of absorbing characteristics among R23,R134 a and DMF,the absorbing processes were intensified under the different absorbing pressures.As a result,an optimal matching pressure was obtained for the new ACAR system.Energy and mass coupling of the auto-cascade processes were further optimized,and the highest COP value was obtained.The theoretical analyses showed that performance of the innovative ACAR system could be superior to that of an ACAR system with single-absorber at a refrigeration temperature from -55℃ to -60℃. | HE Yijian CHEN Guangming | 2019 | Journal of Thermal Science2019,28,4: | 3 |

The device inherits the damping merits of both the rubber spring and the magnetorheological damper.Here a fractional-order constitutive equation is introduced to study the viscoelasticity of the combined damper. An introduction to the definitions of fractional calculus, and the transfer function representation of a fractional-order system are given. The fractional-order system model of a magnetorheological vibration platform is set up using fractional calculus, and the function of displacement is presented. | 19 | Genetic causes of oil-rich and oil-poor reservoirs: Implications from two Cenozoic basins in the eastern North China Craton显示文摘The Bohai Bay and Hehuai(southern North China) rift basins in the eastern part of the North China Craton are southnorth-adjacent. They have shown synchronous evolutionary processes, and possess generally identical superficial and shallow structural characteristics as well as similar basin areas. However, there is a large difference in the richness of oil resources between the two basins. The Bohai Bay Basin has extremely abundant oil reserves, while commercial oil reserves have not been found in the Hehuai Basin. The deep tectonic structures, magmatic activities, and modern and paleo-geothermal fields of the two basins are significantly different. Compared with the Hehuai Basin, the Bohai Bay Basin has a thinner crust and more complex structure with multiple low-velocity layers. It is also characterized by intense magmatic activity, high modern and paleogeothermal fields, frequent seismic activity, and active deep interactions, small effective elastic thickness of the isotropic lithosphere, and shorter balanced transformation wavelength of the lithosphere with a high likelihood of local compensation. The Hehuai Basin has a simple deep structure and homogeneous crustal composition, with a high likelihood of regional compensation. The characteristics of the deep structures mentioned above are generally similar to those of the southern part of the stable Ordos Basin, except for the smaller crust thickness. This indicates the presence of differences in Mesozoic destruction between the southern and northern zones in the eastern part of the North China Craton. The northern zone was subjected to significant destruction, while the southern zone was subjected to modifications, primarily in the form of local changes in the structures and/or properties of the crust or lithospheric mantle, with the overall structure and stability of the craton kept intact. The formation of high-quality source rock is primarily influenced by the abnormal flourishment of organisms in water bodies during the syndepositional period, and is also strongly associated with the high geothermal setting of basins and nutrients from hydrothermal solutions and volcanoes. In other words, it is mainly controlled by deep processes and deep-major fault activity. The differences in the deep structures and modern and paleo geothermal fields of the two basins correspond to the difference in richness of oil resources, suggesting that there is an important internal or causal relationship between the two aspects. This viewpoint coincides with the conditions and environments required for the development of high-quality source rock in hydrocarbon-rich basins(sags)in China and other countries, and is evidenced by the modern lake basin of the East African Rift.
