1Trichosanthin enhances anti-tumor immune response in a murine Lewis lung cancer model by boosting the interaction between TSLC1 and CRTAM显示文摘Trichosanthin(TCS),extracted from the Chinese medicinal herb Trichosanthes kirilowi,has shown promise for the inhibition of tumor growth.However,its immunomodulatory effect on tumor–host interaction remains unknown.In this study,we focused on the effect of TCS on murine anti-tumor immune response in the 3LL Lewis lung carcinoma tumor model and explored the possible molecular pathways involved.In addition to inhibiting cell proliferation and inducing apoptosis in the 3LL tumor,TCS retarded tumor growth and prolonged mouse survival more significantly in C57BL/6 immunocompetent mice than in nude mice.This reflected the fact that the host immune system was involved in tumor eradication.Using FACS analysis,we found that TCS increased the percentage of effector T cells,particularly Interferon-gamma(IFN-c)producing CD41 and CD81 T cells from tumor-bearing mice.TCS also promoted the vigorous proliferation of antigen-specific effector T cells,markedly increased Th1 cytokine secretion and elicited more memory T cells in tumor-bearing mice,consequently enhancing the anti-tumor response and inducing immune protection.Furthermore,we found that TCS upregulated the expression of tumor suppressor in lung cancer 1(TSLC1)in 3LL tumor cells and the expression of its ligand,class I-restricted T cell-associated molecule(CRTAM),in effector T cells.Blocking TSLC1 expression with small interfering RNA(siRNA)significantly eliminated the effects of TCS on the proliferation and cytokine secretion of effector T cells,suggesting that TCS enhances anti-tumor immune response at least partially by boosting the interaction between TSLC1 and CRTAM.Collectively,our data demonstrate that TCS not only affects tumor cells directly,but also enhances anti-tumor immunity via the interaction between TSLC1 and CRTAM.These findings may lead to the development of a novel approach for tumor regression.Yuchan Cai Shudao Xiong Yijie Zheng Feifei Luo Pei Jiang Yiwei Chu 2011Cellular & Molecular Immunology2011,8,4:12

3Effects of particle composition and environmental parameters on catalytic hydrodechlorination of trichloroethylene by nanoscale bimetallic Ni-Fe显示文摘Catalytic nickel was successfully incorporated into nanoscale iron to enhance its dechlorination efficiency for trichloroethylene(TCE), one of the most commonly detected chlorinated organic compounds in groundwater. Ethane was the predominant product. The greatest dechlorination efficiency was achieved at 22 molar percent of nickel. This nanoscale Ni-Fe is poorly ordered and inhomogeneous; iron dissolution occurred whereas nickel was relatively stable during the 24-hr reaction. The morphological characterization provided significant new insights on the mechanism of catalytic hydrodechlorination by bimetallic nanoparticles. TCE degradation and ethane production rates were greatly affected by environmental parameters such as solution pH, temperature and common groundwater ions. Both rate constants decreased and then increased over the pH range of 6.5 to 8.0, with the minimum value occurring at pH 7.5. TCE degradation rate constant showed an increasing trend over the temperature range of 10 to 25?C. However, ethane production rate constant increased and then decreased over the range, with the maximum value occurring at 20?C. Most salts in the solution appeared to enhance the reaction in the first half hour but overall they displayed an inhibitory effect. 4Manipulating dielectric property of polymer coatings toward highretention-rate lithium metal full batteries under harsh critical conditions显示文摘Lithium(Li)metal batteries(LMBs)can potentially deliver much higher energy density but remain plagued by uncontrollable Li plating with dendrite growth,unstable interfaces,and highly abundant excess Li(>50 mAh·cm^(-2)).Herein,different from the artificial layer or three-dimensional(3D)matrix host constructions,various dielectric polymers are initially well-comprehensively investigated from experimental characterizations to theoretical simulation to evaluate their functions in modulating Li ion distribution.As a proof of concept,a 3D interwoven high dielectric functional polymer(HDFP)nanofiber network with polar C-F dipole moments electrospun on copper(Cu)foil is designed,realizing uniform and controllable Li deposition capacity up to 5.0 mAh·cm^(-2),thereby enabling stable Li plating/stripping cycling over 1400 h at 1.0 mA·cm^(-2).More importantly,under the highcathode loading(~3.1 mAh·cm^(-2))and only 0.6×excess Li(N/P ratio of 1.6),the full cells retain capacity retention of 97.4%after 200 cycles at 3.36 mA·cm^(-2)and achieve high energy density(297.7 Wh·kg^(-1)at cell-level)under lean electrolyte conditions(15μL),much better than ever-reported literatures.Our work provides a new direction for designing high dielectric polymer coating toward high-retention-rate practical Li full batteries.Qi Kang Zechao Zhuang Yong Li Yinze Zuo Jian Wang Yijie Liu Chaoqun Shi Jie Chen Hongfei Li Pingkai Jiang Xingyi Huang 2023Nano Research2023,16,7:3
5SIMULATION OF THE IN-PILE BEHAVIORS EVOLUTION IN NUCLEAR FUEL RODS WITH THE IRRADIATION DAMAGE EFFECTS显示文摘Based on the commercial computational software, a three-dimensional finite element model to simulate the thermo-mechanical behaviors in a nuclear fuel rod is established; By taking into consideration irradiation-swelling of the pellet and the irradiation damage effects in the cladding together with the coupling effects between the temperature field and the mechanical field, the user subroutines to define the special material performance and boundary conditions have been developed independently and validated. Three-dimensional numerical simulation of the thermo-mechanical coupling behaviors in a nuclear fuel rod is carried out, and the evolution rules of the important thermal and mechanical variables are obtained and analyzed. 6Flexible,Highly Thermally Conductive and Electrically Insulating Phase Change Materials for Advanced Thermal Management of 5G Base Stations and Thermoelectric Generators显示文摘Thermal management has become a crucial problem for high-power-density equipment and devices.Phase change materials(PCMs)have great prospects in thermal management applications because of their large capacity of heat storage and isothermal behavior during phase transition.However,low intrinsic thermal conductivity,ease of leakage,and lack of flexibility severely limit their applications.Solving one of these problems often comes at the expense of other performance of the PCMs.In this work,we report core–sheath structured phase change nanocomposites(PCNs)with an aligned and interconnected boron nitride nanosheet network by combining coaxial electrospinning,electrostatic spraying,and hot-pressing.The advanced PCN films exhibit an ultrahigh thermal conductivity of 28.3 W m^(-1)K^(-1)at a low BNNS loading(i.e.,32 wt%),which thereby endows the PCNs with high enthalpy(>101 J g^(-1)),outstanding ductility(>40%)and improved fire retardancy.Therefore,our core–sheath strategies successfully balance the trade-off between thermal conductivity,flexibility,and phase change enthalpy of PCMs.Further,the PCNs provide powerful cooling solutions on 5G base station chips and thermoelectric generators,displaying promising thermal management applications on high-power-density equipment and thermoelectric conversion devices.Ying Lin Qi Kang Yijie Liu Yingke Zhu Pingkai Jiang Yiu‑Wing Mai Xingyi Huang 2023Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,3:2

13Field Efficacy Test of 22% Fipronil FS against Sugarcane Stem Borers and Thrips显示文摘[Objective] The paper was to explore the field efficacy of 22% fipronil FS against sugarcane stem borer and thrips( Baliothrips serratus Kobus).[Method]The field trial was conducted by foliar spraying of 22% fipronil FS and mixed broadcasting with fertilizer in 2014. [Result]Foliar spraying of 22%fipronil FS at the dose of 50 m L /667 m^2 had the best control effect against sugarcane stem borer,and the control effect at 90 d post administration was 70. 70%,significantly higher than that of control agent(61. 86%). Medium and high dose of 22% fipronil FS had better control effects against sugarcane thrips. 14A new method to prepare calcium oxalate films for marble protection显示文摘Artificial calcium oxalate films have been applied to protect sculptures,monuments,and buildings made of marble due to their potential protective capacities.Unfortunately,artificially prepared calcium oxalate films are usually loose,and easy to peel off in contrast to the natural ones.In this paper,a new method was developed for the preparation of a compact and cohesive calcium oxalate film,using ethylene glycol as an additive.The morphology,elemental composition,structure,and crystal phase of the film were analyzed by SEM,EDX,IR,and XRD,and the protective effects were investigated by acid resistance test,while its adhesion to the underlying marble by the Scotch tape test.The porosity,water absorption,and color of treated marble were also assessed.The results showed that a calcium oxalate film with a compact structure,good adhesion,and a protective effect against acid rain can be successfully obtained by including ethylene glycol as an additive.With the new preparation method,a better bond between the stone and the film is obtained which contributes to solving the spalling problem of the artificial calcium oxalate films.HE Lu JIANG YiJie MA WenTing LIU Yan YANG FuWei LU RuiCong WANG Lu ZHANG Kun CHEN XinNan GAO Xiang 2023Science China(Technological Sciences)2023,66,8:0
153D printed propeller-like metamaterial for wide-angle and broadband microwave absorption显示文摘It is a challenge to design an absorber which can simultaneously satisfy comprehensive demands of broad absorption band,wide incident angle range,and low-profile.In this work,we designed a metamaterial absorber(MMA)based on the antenna reciprocity theory to achieve the above goals.Firstly,a three-dimensional(3D)propeller-like structure with reference to a typical magneto-electric dipole(MED)an-tenna was proposed and analyzed by the characteristic mode(CM)theory to realize near-omnidirectional radiation.Then,the radiation-absorption conversion was realized by introducing lossy materials into this structure,and the absorption performance was further improved by optimizing the dispersion feature of the lossy materials.Finally,the propeller-like metamaterial absorber with a thickness of 0.113λL was manufactured efficiently and integrally through 3D printing technology.Simulation results showed that the proposed absorber can achieve broadband absorption with the efficiency more than 90%in the fre-quency band of 3.4-10 GHz.It also has excellent wide-angle absorption capacity,with Transverse Electric(TE)polarization of 0°to 50°and Transverse Magnetic(TM)polarization of 0°to 80°.With the increase of incident angle,the upper limit of absorption bandwidth can be gradually extended to 18 GHz.Moreover,the effectiveness in the range of 0°to 60°incident angle is verified by measuring the reflectivity of the 3D printed absorber.Ruiyang Tan Fangkun Zhou Yijie Liu Baoshan Zhang Yi Yang Jintang Zhou Ping Chen Tian Jiang 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,13:0

17A Microfluidic System with Active Mixing for Improved Real-Time Isothermal Amplification显示文摘To improve the performance of real-time recombinase polymerase amplification(RPA),a microfluidic system with active mixing is developed to optimize the reaction dynamics.Instead of adopting a single typical reaction chamber,a specific reactor including a relatively large chamber in center with two adjacent zig-zag channels at two sides is integrated into the microfluidic chip.Active mixing is achieved by driving the viscous reagent between the chamber and the channel back and forth periodically with an outside compact peristaltic pump.To avoid reagent evapora-tion,one end of the reactor is sealed with paraffin oil.A hand-held companion device is developed to facilitate real-time RPA amplification within 20 min.The whole area of the reactor is heated with a resistance heater to provide uniform reaction temperature.To achieve real-time monitoring,a compact fluorescence detection module is integrated into the hand-held device.A smartphone with custom application software is adopted to control the hand-held device and display the real-time fluorescence curves.The performances of two cases with and without active on-chip mixing are compared between each other by detecting African swine fever viruses.It has been demonstrated that,with active on-chip mixing,the amplification efficiency and detection sensitivity can be signifi-cantly improved.Dianlong Yang Xiaodan Jiang Yijie Zhou Xiaobin Dong Luyao Liu Lulu Zhang Xianbo Qiu 2022Journal of Beijing Institute of Technology2022,31,3:0

19In Vivo Efficacy of Neuropeptide S on the Expression of Cytokines Indeced by Influenza A Virurs in Ducks显示文摘Neuropeptide S(NPS)is involved in severe pathological processes.Direct evidence showed NPS regulates the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines in pigs.This study investigated the effect of NPS on the secretion of inflammatory cytokines in ducks with H9N2 infection via intramuscular injection with NPS or NPS receptor(NPSR)antagonist.The ducks received 15 nM NPS or 10 nM NPSR antagonist in saline.Samples were collected to analyze the expression levels of IL-1β,IL-6,TNF-α,IFN-α,NPS,and the H9N2 gene NP by RT-PCR and real time RT-PCR;samples were fixed to observe the histopathological changes by hematoxylin-eosin staining.Serial blood samples were collected(every 30 min,starting 1 h before injections and lasting until 2 h after injections)to measure the serum levels of IL-1β,IL-6,TNF-α,and IFN-αby ELISA.Semiquantitative RT-PCR confirmed that the expression of NPS mRNA was increased in H9N2 infection group.Morphological data showed NPS treatment could reverse the pathological changes in the duck bursa induced by H9N2 infection.Both the results of real time quantitative RT-PCR and ELISA methods showed NPS and NPSR antagonist treatments could significantly regulate the expression of IFN-α,but not of IL-1β,IL-6 and TNF-α;meanwhile,the levels of increased IFN-α and decreased NP were further prompted by NPS,and NPSR antagonist revered.Conclusion,NPS is involved in the innate immunity response to H9N2 infection via the IFN-αpathway in ducks in vivo.These results indicate NPS affects the immune homeostasis and provides an alternative for anti-H9N2 drugs.Ma Yijie Jiang Zongpei Zhang Tianhua Huang Cuiqin Yang Guihong 2019Animal Husbandry and Feed Science2019,11,3:0
20Effects of biochar-amended alkali-activated slag on the stabilization of coral sand in coastal areas显示文摘Coral sand is widely encountered in coastal areas of tropical and subtropical regions.Compared with silica sand,it usually exhibits weaker performance from the perspective of engineering geology.To improve the geomechanical performance of coral sand and meet the requirement of foundation construction in coastal areas,a novel alkali activation-based sustainable binder was developed.The alkaliactivated slag(AAS)binder material was composed of ground granulated blast-furnace slag(GGBS)and hydrated lime with the amendment of biochar,an agricultural waste-derived material.The biocharamended AAS stabilized coral sand was subjected to a series of laboratory tests to determine its mechanical,physicochemical,and microstructural characteristics.Results show that adding a moderate amount of biochar in AAS could improve soil strength,elastic modulus,and water holding capacity by up to 20%,70%,and 30%,respectively.Moreover,the addition of biochar in AAS had a marginal effect on the sulfate resistance of the stabilized sand,especially at high biochar content.However,the resistance of the AAS stabilized sand to wet-dry cycles slightly deteriorated with the addition of biochar.Based on these observations,a conceptual model showing biochar-AAS-sand interactions was proposed,in which biochar served as an internal curing agent,micro-reinforcer,and mechanically weak point.Xiaole Han Ningjun Jiang Fei Jin Krishna RReddy Yijie Wang Kaiwei Liu Yanjun Du 2023Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2023,15,3:0
