| 1 | Hydroxysafflor yellow A improves learning and memory in a rat model of vascular dementia by increasing VEGF and NR1 in the hippocampus显示文摘Hydroxysafflor yellow A(HSYA) has angiogenesisregulating and neuro-protective effects, but its effects on vascular dementia(VaD) are unknown. In this study, 30 adult Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly allocated to five groups: normal, sham-operation, VaD alone(bilateral carotid artery occlusion), VaD plus saline(control), and VaD plus HSYA. One week after operation, the HSYA group received one daily tail-vein injection of 0.6 mg/100 g HSYA for two weeks. Five weeks after operation, the spatial memory of all five groups was evaluated by the water maze task, and synaptic plasticity in the hippocampus was assessed by the long-term potentiation(LTP) method. Vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and N-methyl-Daspartic acid receptor 1(NR1) expression in the hippocampus was detected via Western blot. We found that, compared with the group with VaD alone, the group with HSYA had a reduced escape latency in the water maze(P <0.05), and the LTP at CA3-CA1 synapses in the hippocampus was enhanced(P <0.05). Western blot in the late-phase VaD group showed slight up-regulation of VEGF and downregulation of NR1 in the hippocampus, while HSYA significantly up-regulated both VEGF and NR1. | 3 | Review on supermolecules as chemical drugs显示文摘Supramolecular medicinal chemistry field has been a quite rapidly developing,increasingly active and newly rising interdiscipline which is the new expansion of supramolecular chemistry in pharmaceu-tical sciences,and is gradually becoming a relatively independent scientific area. Supramolecular drugs could be defined as medicinal supermolecules formed by two or more molecules through non-covalent bonds. So far a lot of supermolecules as chemical drugs have been widely used in clinics. Supermolecules as chemical drugs,i.e. supramolecular chemical drugs or supramolecular drugs,which might have the excellences of lower cost,shorter period,higher potential as clinical drugs for their successful research and development,may possess higher bioavailability,better biocompatibility and drug-targeting,fewer multidrug-resistances,lower toxicity,less adverse effect,and better curative effects as well as safety,and therefore exhibit wide potential application. These overwhelming advan-tages have drawn enormous special attention. This paper gives the definition of supramolecular drugs,proposes the concept of supramolecular chemical drugs,and systematically reviews the recent ad-vances in the research and development of supermolecules,including organic and inorganic complex ones as chemical drugs in the area of antitumor,anti-inflammatory,analgesic,antimalarial,antibacterial,antifungal,antivirus,anti-epileptic,cardiovascular agents and magnetic resonance imaging agents and so on. | 5 | Mild hypothermia for treatment of diffuse axonal injury: a quantitative analysis of diffusion tensor imaging显示文摘Fractional anisotropy values in diffusion tensor imaging can quantitatively reflect the consistency of nerve fibers after brain damage, where higher values generally indicate less damage to nerve fibers. Therefore, we hypothesized that diffusion tensor imaging could be used to evaluate the effect of mild hypothermia on diffuse axonal injury. A total of 102 patients with diffuse axonal injury were randomly divided into two groups: normothermic and mild hypothermic treatment groups. Patient's modified Rankin scale scores 2 months after mild hypothermia were significantly lower than those for the normothermia group. The difference in average fractional anisotropy value for each region of interest before and after mild hypothermia was 1.32–1.36 times higher than the value in the normothermia group. | 6 | A series of naphthalimide azoles: Design, synthesis and bioactive evaluation as potential antimicrobial agents显示文摘A series of naphthalimide azoles as potential antibacterial and antifungal agents were conveniently and efficiently synthesized starting from commercially available 6-bromobenzo[de]isochromene-1,3-dione. All the new compounds were characterized by NMR, IR, MS and HRMS spectra. Their antimicrobial activities were evaluated against four Gram-positive bacteria, four Gram-negative bacteria and two fungi using two-fold serial dilution technique. The biological assay indicated that most of the prepared compounds exhibited inhibition to the tested strains. In particular, the triazolium derivatives not only gave higher efficacy than their corresponding precursory azoles, but also demonstrated comparable or even better potency than the reference drugs Chloromycin, Orbifloxacin and Fluconazole. | 7 | Effects of rare earth on microstructure and impact toughness of low alloy Cr-Mo-V steels for hydrogenation reactor vessels显示文摘The effects of rare earth(RE) on the microstructure and impact toughness of low alloy Cr-Mo-V bainitic steels have been investigated where the steels have RE content of 0 to 0.048 wt.%. The results indicate that the normalized microstructures of the steels are typical granular bainite(GB) composed primarily of bainitic ferrite and martensite and/or austenite(M-A) constituents. The M-A constituents are transformed into ferrite and carbides and/or agglomerated carbides after tempering at 700℃ for 4 h. The addition of RE decreases the onset temperature of bainitic transformation and results in the formation of finer bainitic ferrite, and reduces the amount of carbon-rich M-A constituents. For the normalized and tempered samples, the ductile-to-brittle transition temperature(DBTT) decreases with increasing RE content to a critical value of 0.012 wt.%. Lower DBTT and higher upper shelf energy are attributed to the decreased effective grain size and lower amount of coarse agglomerated carbides from the decomposition of massive M-A constituents. Herein, we provide a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art advances in liquid crystal-templated chiral nanomaterials. The chiroptical properties of chiral nanomaterials are touched, and their fundamental design principles and bottom-up synthesis strategies are discussed. Different chiral functional nanomaterials based on liquid-crystalline soft templates, including chiral plasmonic nanomaterials and chiral luminescent nanomaterials, are systematically introduced, and their underlying mechanisms, properties, and potential applications are emphasized. This review concludes with a perspective on the emerging applications, challenges, and future opportunities of such fascinating chiral nanomaterials. | 10 | Adjuvant treatment for triple-negative breast cancer: a retrospective study of immunotherapy with autologous cytokine-induced killer cells in 294 patients显示文摘Objective: To examine the efficacy and safety of a sequential combination of chemotherapy and autologous cytokine-induced killer(CIK) cell treatment in triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC) patients.Methods: A total of 294 post-surgery TNBC patients participated in the research from January 1, 2009 to January 1, 2015. After adjuvant chemotherapy, autologous CIK cells were introduced in 147 cases(CIK group), while adjuvant chemotherapy alone was used to treat the remaining 147 cases(control group). The major endpoints of the investigation were the disease-free survival(DFS) and overall survival(OS). Additionally, the side effects of the treatment were evaluated.Results: In the CIK group, the DFS and OS intervals of the patients were significantly longer than those of the control group(DFS:P = 0.047;OS: P = 0.007). The multivariate analysis demonstrated that the TNM(tumor-node-metastasis) stage and adjuvant CIK treatment were independent prognostic factors for both DFS [hazard ratio(HR)= 0.520, 95% confidence interval(CI):0.271-0.998, P = 0.049;HR = 1.449, 95% CI:1.118-1.877, P = 0.005, respectively] and OS(HR=0.414, 95% CI:0.190-0.903, P = 0.027;HR= 1.581, 95% CI:1.204-2.077, P = 0.001, respectively) in patients with TNBC. Additionally, longer DFS and OS intervals were associated with increased number of CIK treatment cycles(DFS: P = 0.020;OS: P = 0.040). | 12 | A Comparison of Different Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis(Rhodophyta) Parts in Biochemical Characteristics, Protoplast Formation and Regeneration显示文摘Gracilariopsis lemaneiformis is a commercially exploited alga. Its filaceous thallus can be divided into three parts, holdfast, middle segment and tip. The growth and branch forming trend and agar content of these three parts were analyzed, respectively, in this study. The results showed that the tip had the highest growth rate and branched most, although it was the last part with branch forming ability. The holdfast formed branches earliest but slowly. Holdfast had the highest agar content. We also assessed the difference in protoplast formation and regeneration among three parts. The middle segment displayed the shortest enzymolysis time and the highest protoplast yield; whereas the tip had the strongest vitality of protoplasts formation. Juvenile plants were only obtained from the protoplasts generated from the tip. | 17 | Applications and challenges for single-bacteria analysis by flow cytometry显示文摘Flow cytometry(FCM)is a powerful technique for single-bacteria analysis via simultaneous light-scattering and fluorescence measurements.By offering high-throughput,quantitative,and multiparameter analysis at the single-cell level,FCM has gained an increased popularity in microbiological research,food safety monitoring,water quality control,and clinical diagnosis.Here we will review the recent applications of flow cytometry in areas such as(1)total bacterial cell count,(2)bacterial viability analysis,(3)specific bacterial detection and identification,(4)characterization of physiological changes under environmental perturbations,and(5)biological function studies.Nevertheless,despite these widespread applications,challenges still remain for the detection of small sizes of bacteria and biochemical features that cannot be brightly stained via fluorescence.Recent improvement in FCM instrumentation will be discussed,and particularly the development of high sensitivity flow cytometry for advanced analysis of single bacterial cells will be highlighted. | lina wu shuo wang yiyi song xu wang xiaomei yan | 2016 | Science China Chemistry2016,59,1: | 3 |

| 20 | Effects of surface roughness on interfacial dynamic recrystallization and mechanical properties of Ti-6Al-3Nb-2Zr-1Mo alloy joints produced by hot-compression bonding显示文摘The influence of surface roughness on the interfacial dynamic recrystallization kinetics and mechanical properties of Ti-6 Al-3 Nb-2 Zr-1 Mo hot-compression bonding joints was systematically investigated.It is found that for the bonding interface of rough surfaces,elongated fine grains are formed at the bonding interface due to shear deformation of the interfacial area.As the surface roughness increases,the proportion of elongated grains drastically decreases as they further reorient to form equiaxed grains along the bonding interface of rougher surfaces resulting from severe incompatible deformation of the interface area.Meanwhile,high-density geometrically necessary dislocations accumulate around the interfacial recrystallization area to accommodate the incompatible strain and lattice rotation.A rotational dynamic recrystallization mechanism is thereby proposed to rationalize the formation of fine interfacial recrystallization grains during bonding of rough surfaces.In contrast to that of rough surfaces,bonding interface of polished surfaces exists in the form of straight interface grain boundaries without fine grains under the same deformation conditions.While with the increase of deformation strain,small grain nuclei form along the bonding interface,which is associated with discontinuous dynamic recrystallization assisted by strain-induced boundary migration of interface grain boundaries.Moreover,the bonding joints of rough surfaces show lower elongation compared with that of polished surfaces.This is because the formation of heterogeneous fine grains with low Schmid factor along the bonding interface of rough surfaces,leading to worse compatible deformation capability and thereby poor ductility of bonding joints. | Bijun Xie Zhenxiang Yu Haiyang Jiang Bin Xu Chunyang Wang Jianyang Zhang Mingyue Sun Dianzhong Li Yiyi Li | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,1: | 2 |
