Inorganic chemical composition and source signature of PM2.5 in Beijing during ACE-Asia period显示文摘Aerosol samples for PM2.5 were collected in Beijing for 38 consecutive days from March to April 2001 using an IMPROVE Sampler. Concentrations of 20 elements in PM2.5 were determined using a PIXE method. Results show that the average mineral dust concentration of PM2.5 was 14.6 mg/m3 during the observation period. On the sand-dust event days of March 21 and April 10, dust PM2.5 mass concentrations were 62.4 and 54.1 mg/m3, respectively. These demonstrate that fine particle pollution by dust event in Beijing was very severe. The enrichment factors of S and Cu reached minimums on the dusty days and were high on the non-dusty days. It is considered that enrichment factors of elements in PM2.5, which are associated with human activities, can probably provide an effective method to distinguish local sources from external sources of dust. Factor analysis on the chemical composition in PM2.5 shows that sources of crustal matters, anthropogenic emission, and oil combustion contributed to PM2.5 levels in air in the springtime of 2001 in Beijing. | ZHANG Renjian, XU Yongfu & HAN Zhiwei LAPC, Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100029, China | 2003 | Chinese Science Bulletin2003,48,10: | 24

A kinetic study of the reaction of ozone with ethylene in a smog chamber under atmospheric conditions显示文摘Ozone is one of the key species in the processes of atmospheric chemistry, which can be taken as an indicator of oxidation capacity in the troposphere. The reaction of ozone with reactive gases is an important process in the troposphere. Experimental simulation equipment of smog chamber for atmospheric reactions is used to study the reaction of ozone with ethylene in real atmospheric environment with ozone concentrations of 100―200 ppb. The concentrations of ozone and ethylene were moni-tored during the reaction with the combination of Model 49C-O_3 Analyzer and GC-FID. A rate constant of 1.01×10^(-18) (cm^3·mol^(-1)·s-(~1)) was obtained at 286.5 K, under condition of which the half-life of ozone was 88 min. The results obtained from our experiments are in excellent agreement with those reported previously by other researchers under extremely low pressure in terms of matrixisolation technology. This demonstrates that our equipment of smog chamber for atmospheric reactions is reliable, which can be used for further research of the processes of atmospheric reactions. | XU Yongfu JIA Long GE Maofa DU Lin WANG Gengchen WANG Dianxun | 2006 | Chinese Science Bulletin2006,51,23: | 16
Strategies to approach high performance in Cr^(3+)-doped phosphors for high-power NIR-LED light sources显示文摘Broadband near-infrared(NIR)-emitting phosphors are key for next-generation smart NIR light sources based on blue LEDs.To achieve excellent NIR phosphors,we propose a strategy of enhancing the crystallinity, modifying the micromorphology, and maintaining the valence state of Cr^(3+) in Ca_(3)Sc_(2)Si_(3)O_(12) garnet(CSSG).By adding fluxes and sintering in a reducing atmosphere, the internal quantum efficiency(IQE)is greatly enhanced to 92.3%.The optimized CSSG:6% Cr^(3+) exhibits excellent thermal stability. At 150℃,97.4% of the NIR emission at room temperature can be maintained. The fabricated NIR-LED device emits a high optical power of 109.9mW at 520 mA.The performances of both the achieved phosphor and the NIR-LED are almost the best results until now.The mechanism for the optimization is investigated. An application of the NIR-LED light source is demonstrated. | Zhenwei Jia Chenxu Yuan Yongfu Liu Xiao-Jun Wang Peng Sun Lei Wang Haochuan Jiang Jun Jiang | 2020 | Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1: | 16

Production of transgenic blastocyst of sheep by somatic cell cloning显示文摘Five samples from primary cultures of five sheep ovarian granulosa cells were transfected by pEGFP-N1 DNA. Five transgenic positive cell lines, each from one of the five samples above, were used as donor nuclei for somatic nucleus transfer. A total of 352 in vitro matured and enucleated sheep oocytes were fused electrically with transgenic granulosa cells and 329 reconstructed embryos were obtained after activation by Ionomycin/6-DMAP, and these embryos were cultured in SOFaaBSA medium for 7 d. The result shows that 312 embryos (94.8%) had gone through cleavage and among them 63 (19.1%) had developed to the blastocyst stage. Expression of GFP gene was detected in various stages of early embryonic development by sampling randomly. Blastocyst rates given by the four cells treated with 0.5% FCS starvation was 19.6% (55/280) and it had notshown difference significantly (P>0.05) with the result obtained with another cell line that had not gone through serum starvation (16.3%, 8/49). | 7 | Portal vein embolization before major hepatectomy显示文摘To discuss the rationale, techniques and the unsolved issues regarding preoperative portal vein embolization (PVE) before major hepatectomy. After a systematic search of Pubmed, we reviewed and retrieved literature related to PVE. Preoperative PVE is an approach that is gaining increasing acceptance in the preoperative treatment of selected patients prior to major hepatic resection. Induction of selective hypertrophy of the nondiseased portion of the liver with PVE in patients with either primary or secondary hepatobiliary, malignancy with small estimated future liver remnants (FLR) may result in fewer complications and shorter hospital stays following resection. Additionally, PVE performed in patients initially considered unsuitable for resection due to lack of sufficient remaining normal parenchyma may add to the pool of candidates for surgical treatment. The results suggest that PVE is recomm-endable in treating the cirrhotic patients before major liver resection. | HaiLiu YongFu | 2005 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2005,11,14: | 13
Tomato SlAN11 regulates flavonoid biosynthesis and seed dormancy by interaction with bHLH proteins but not with MYB proteins显示文摘The flavonoid compounds are important secondary metabolites with versatile human nutritive benefits and fulfill a multitude of functions during plant growth and development. The abundance of different flavonoid compounds are finely tuned with species-specific pattern by a ternary MBW complex, which consists of a MYB,a bHLH,and a WD40 protein, but the essential role of SlAN11,which is a WD40 protein,is not fully understood in tomato until now.In this study,a tomato WD40 protein named as SlAN11 was characterized as an effective transcription regulator to promote plant anthocyanin and seed proanthocyanidin(PA)contents, with late flavonoid biosynthetic genes activated in 35S::SlAN11 transgenic lines, while the dihydroflavonol flow to the accumulation of flavonols or their glycosylated derivatives was reduced by repressing the expression of SlFLS in this SlAN11-overexpressed lines. The above changes were reversed in 35S::SlAN11-RNAi transgenic lines except remained levels of flavonol compounds and SlFLS expression.Interestingly, our data revealed that SlAN11 gene could affect seed dormancy by regulating the expressions of abscisic acid(ABA)signaling-related genes SlABI3 and SlABI5,and the sensitivity to ABA treatment in seed germination is conversely changed by SlAN11-overexpressed or-downregulated lines.Yeast two-hybrid assays demonstrated that SlAN11 interacted with bHLH but not with MYB proteins in the ternary MBW complex, whereas bHLH interacted with MYB in tomato. Our results indicated that low level of anthocyanins in tomato fruits, with low expression of bHLH(SlTT8)and MYB(SlANT1 and SlAN2)genes,remain unchanged upon modification of SlAN11 gene alone in the transgenic lines. These results suggest that the tomato WD40 protein SlAN11,coordinating with bHLH and MYB proteins, plays a crucial role in the fine adjustment of the flavonoid biosynthesis and seed dormancy in tomato. | Yongfeng Gao Jikai Liu Yongfu Chen Hai Tang Yang Wang Yongmei He Yongbin Ou Xiaochun Sun Songhu Wang Yinan Yao | 2018 | Horticulture Research2018,5,1: | 13
Numerical study on ULF waves in a dipole field excited by sudden impulse显示文摘A three-dimensional numerical model is employed to investigate ULF waves ex-cited by the sudden impulse (SI) of the solar wind dynamic pressure interacting with a dipole magnetosphere. We focus on the solar wind-magnetosphere energy coupling through ULF waves, and the influences of the SI spectrum on the cavity mode structure and the energy deposition due to field line resonances (FLRs) in the magnetosphere. The numerical results show that for a given SI lasting for 1 min with amplitude of 50 mV/m impinging on the subsolar magnetopause, the total ULF energy transported from the solar wind to the magnetosphere is about the magni-tude of 1014 J. The efficiency of the solar wind energy input is around 1%, which depends little on the location of the magnetopause in the model. It is also found that the energy of the cavity mode is confined in the region near the magnetopause, whereas, the energy of the toroidal mode may be distributed among a few specific L-shells. With a given size of the model magnetosphere and plasma density distri-bution, it is shown that the fundamental eigenfrequency of the cavity mode and the central locations of the FLRs do not vary noticeably with the power spectrum of the SI. It is worth noting that the spectrum of the SI affects the excitation of higher harmonics of the global cavity mode. The broader the bandwidth of the SI is, the higher harmonics of cavity mode could be excited. Meanwhile, the corresponding FLRs regions are broadened at the same time, which implies that the global cavity modes and toroidal modes can resonate on more magnetic L-shells when more harmonics of the global cavity modes appear. | YANG Biao FU SuiYan ZONG QiuGang WANG YongFu ZHOU XuZhi PU ZuYin XIE Lun | 2008 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2008,51,10: | 12
Fast acceleration of “killer” electrons and energetic ions by interplanetary shock stimulated ULF waves in the inner magnetosphere显示文摘Energetic electrons and ions in the Van Allen radiation belt are the number one space weather threat. Understanding how these energetic particles are accelerated within the Van Allen radiation belt is one of the major challenges in space physics. This paper reviews the recent progress on the fast acceleration of 'killer' electrons and energetic ions by ultralow frequency (ULF) waves stimulated by the interplanetary shock in the inner magnetosphere. Very low frequency (VLF) wave-particle interaction is considered to be one of the primary electron acceleration mechanisms because electron cyclotron resonances can easily occur in the VLF frequency range. Recently, using four Cluster spacecraft observations, we have found that, after interplanetary shocks impact the Earth’s magnetosphere, energetic electrons in the radiation belt are accelerated almost immediately and continue to accelerate for a few hours. The time scale (a few days) for traditional acceleration mechanisms, based on VLF wave-particle interactions to accelerate electrons to relativistic energies, is too long to explain our observations. Furthermore, we have found that interplanetary shocks or solar wind pressure pulses, with even small dynamic pressure changes, can play a non-negligible role in radiation belt dynamics. Interplanetary shocks interaction with the Earth’s magnetosphere manifests many fundamental space physics phenomena including energetic particle acceleration. The mechanism of fast acceleration of energetic electrons in the radiation belt responding to interplanetary shock impacts consists of three contributing parts: (1) the initial adiabatic acceleration due to strong shock-related magnetic field compression; (2) followed by the drift-resonant acceleration with poloidal ULF waves excited at different L-shells; and (3) particle acceleration due to the quickly damping electric fields associated with ULF waves. Particles end up with a net acceleration because they gain more energy in the first half of this cycle than they lose in the second. The results reported in this paper cast a new light on understanding the acceleration of energetic particles in the Earth’s Van Allen radiation belt. The results of this study can likewise be applied to interplanetary shock interaction with other planets such as Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, and other astrophysical objects with magnetic fields. | ZONG QiuGang WANG YongFu YUAN ChongJing YANG Biao WANG ChenRui ZHANG XiangYun | 2011 | Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,12: | 11
Multi-spacecraft observations of ULF waves during the recovery phase of magnetic storm on October 30, 2003显示文摘Based on observations obtained by Cluster C1, GOES 10, 12, and Polar, the global ULF wave properties are studied during the recovery phase of a very intense magnetic storm-Halloween storm (October 31, 2003, 21:00-23:00 UT). The results indicate that the ULF waves’ properties observed by different satellites, such as amplitude, period, etc. show large variations. This can be interpreted as that Field Line Resonance (FLR) might take place in the region where Cluster C1 passed. The compressional wave of the cavity mode coupled with FLR’s shear Alfven wave and fed energy to the latter, forming a large-amplitude toroidal mode. From the point of period, Cluster C1 observed the shortest period, GOES 10, 12 observed the middle, while Polar observed the longest. The wave period of toroidal mode observed by Cluster C1 kept almost unchanging when Cluster C1 passed L range from 11.7 to 5.3. Using the Squared Wavelet Coherence analysis method, we estimated that the FLR region in the dayside magnetosphere could expand to at least 4 local time widths. The toroidal mode observed by Polar was a standing wave, while the pol-oidal mode was a propagating wave, the observation results could be well ex-plained by the waveguide mode theory. Since the solarwind speed Vx was -800 km/s and the dynamic pressure varied little, we speculated that the source of the ULF wave was the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability at the magnetopause triggered by high speed solarwind. | YongFu Wang SuiYan Fu QiuGang Zong Biao Yang ZuYin Pu Lun Xie XuZhi Zhou | 2008 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2008,51,10: | 11
Exploring and Exploiting Pan-genomics for Crop Improvement显示文摘Genetic variation ranging from single-nucleotide polymorphisms to large structural variants (SVs) can cause variation of gene content among individuals within the same species. There is an increasing appreciation that a single reference genome is insufficient to capture the full landscape of genetic diversity of a species. Pan-genome analysis offers a platform to evaluate the genetic diversity of a species via investigation of its entire genome repertoire. Although a recent wave of pan-genomic studies has shed new light on crop diversity and improvement using advanced sequencing technology, the potential applications of crop pan-genomics in crop improvement are yet to be fully exploited. In this review, we highlight the progress achieved in understanding crop pan?genomics, discuss biological activities that cause SVs, review important agronomical traits affected by SVs, and present our perspective on the application of pan-genomics in crop improvement. | Yongfu Tao Xianrong Zhao Emma Mace Robert Henry David Jordan | 2019 | Molecular Plant2019,12,2: | 10
Influence of solar wind dynamic pressure on geomagnetic Dst index during various magnetic storms显示文摘The Dst index, designed as a proxy of ring current intensity,is known to be also affected by other magnetospheric current systems,e.g.magnetopause current. The pressure-corrected Dst index is obtained by removing the effects of the solar wind dynamic pressure and the quiet time ring current. However, all previous studies treated the correction coefficient as an averaged parameter for storms of different intensity. In this paper, based on the Burton's equations and employing two independent methods,we will show a positive correlation between pressure-correction coefficient b and the intensity of the storms. We divided our storm database(872 storms in total) into three categories according to the intensity of storms. In order to improve the accuracy of calculating,we also used the higher-resolution SYM-H index data instead of Dst index to compute the corrected Dst index during different storms.Furthermore,we are able to provide corrected magnetic storm index with high-time resolution(-1 min). | ZHAO Hong ZONG QiuGang WEI Yong WANG YongFu | 2011 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,6: | 10

The different sea surface temperature (SST) distributions are automatically generated in the time integrations by using two different SST models, one of which is called the deep ocean model (DOM) and the other the shallow ocean model (SOM). The SST generated by the DOM has the distribution pattern of the initial SST which is similar to the pattern in the cold water years over the western Pacific, while the SST generated by the SOM has the pattern similar to that in the warm water years. The differences between the experimental results by using DOM and SOM are analyzed in detail. | 15 | Radial propagation of magnetospheric substorm-injected energetic electrons observed using a BD-IES instrument and Van Allen Probes显示文摘In cases where substorm injections can be observed simultaneously by multiple spacecraft, they can help elucidate the potential mechanisms of particle transport and energization,of great importance to understanding and modeling the magnetosphere. In this paper, using data returned from the BeiDa-IES(BD-IES) instrument onboard a satellite in an inclined(55°) geosynchronous orbit(IGSO),in combination with two geo-transfer orbiting(GTO) satellite Van Allen Probes(A and B),we analyze a substorm injection event that occurred on the 16 th of October 2015.During this substorm injection, the IGSO onboard BD-IES was outbound, while both Van Allen Probe satellites(A and B) were inbound,a configuration of multiple trajectories that provides a unique opportunity to simultaneously investigate both the inward and outward radial propagation of substorm injection.Indicated by AE/AL indices, this substorm was closely related to an IMF/solar wind discontinuity that showed a sharp change in IMF Bz direction to the north. The innermost signature of this substorm injection was detected by Van Allen Probes A and B at L-3.7,while the outermost signature was observed by the onboard BD-IES instrument at L~\0.These data indicate that the substorm had a global, rather than just local, effect. Finally,we suggest that electric fields carried by fast-mode compressional waves around the substorm injection are the most likely candidate mechanism for the electron injection signatures observed in the inner- and outermost inner magnetosphere. | ZONG QiuGang HAO YiXin ZOU Hong FU SuiYan ZHOU XuZhi REN Jie WANG LingHua YUAN ChongJing LIU ZhiYang JIA XiangHong QUAN Lin LIU Ying WANG YongFu | 2016 | Science China Earth Sciences2016,59,7: | 8 |

Smog chamber studies of ozone formation potentials for isopentane显示文摘The incremental reactivity and ozone formation potential of isopentane have been studied with chamber experiments and computer simulations. The chemical mechanism used in the computer simulations is an isopentane sub-mechanism from the Master Chemical Mechanism (MCM). The results from the chamber experiments suggest that the MCM can well simulate i-C5H12-NOx chamber experiments. The heterogeneous reaction of NO2 and water is an important source for OH radicals in the chamber experiments. The photolysis of HONO is responsible for the initiation of isopentane in photochemical reactions. The reaction rate constant for NO2 → HONO was determined to be 3.9×10-4―5.9×10-3 min-1 by conducting 3 sets of CO-NOx-air irradiations. 5 sets of isopentane-NOx irradiations under different conditions were performed in our chamber. Compared with the experiment with a low relative humidity (RH), an increase in RH can increase the reaction rate of NO2 with H2O, so that the peak ozone occurs earlier. When isopentane is predominant over NOx, the peak ozone concentration is largely dependent on NOx concentrations. | JIA Long XU YongFu GE MaoFa DU Lin ZHUANG GuoShun | 2009 | Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,24: | 7
Zircon SHRIMP U-Pb geochronology, geochemistry and petrogenesis of the upper Eocene Shuangmaidi peraluminous granite in Baoshan Block,Western Yunnan Terrain, southwestern China显示文摘The Baoshan Block is tectonically located in the middle segment of the Sibumasu plate.Granitic magmatism within the Baoshan Block has been considered weakly active due mainly to very limited exposures during the Himalaya orogenic episode. The geochronological study on the buried Shuangmaidi granite has confirmed the existence of the Cenozoic granitoids in the Baoshan Block. The present study indicates that:(1) It is medium-to coarse-grained two mica phyric granite, characterized by high SiO 2 (73.55%-77.16%) and low CaO (0.34%-1.38%) contents, with a total alkalis (K 2 O+Na 2 O) of 5.22%-8.03%,K 2 O/Na 2 O ratios of 0.24-1.79,and total rare earth elements (ΣREE) of the granite between 85 and 125 ppb.All samples are enriched in light REE and exhibit medium negative Eu anomalies;and they show pronounced negative anomalies in Ba,Sr,Ti,and Nb but significant positive anomalies in K,Rb,U,Th,and Pb on mantle-normalized trace element patterns, indicating typi-cally peraluminous to strongly peraluminous S-type granite.(2) The zircon SHRIMP U-Pb ages of the granite are 36.27±0.48 Ma for the samples from ZK7-1 and 35.78±0.49 Ma for those from ZK0-1,respectively.The similar zircon ages from these two drill cores may suggest that the granite samples come from the same buried pluton.(3) 206 Pb/204 Pb values of the granite vary from 20.115 to 25.359,207 Pb/204 Pb from 15.776 to 16.160,and 208 Pb/204 Pb from 39.236 to 41.285,showing the characteristics of radio-active lead anomaly of the upper crust. The (87 Sr/86 Sr) i values calculated on the average age of the two-mica orthoclase granite (36 Ma) range from 0.72524 to 0.77503 and ε Nd (t) values vary from 10.9 to 11.7.These data, along with the depleted-mantle Nd modal ages of 1.73-1.80 Ga,imply that the granites might have formed from partial melting of the Precambrian crystal basements.(4) On the Hf-Rb-Ta diagram, almost all the samples fall within the field of post-collision tectonic setting. The CaO/Na 2 O and Al 2 O 3/TiO 2 ratios suggest that the granitic magma may have formed from partial melting of clay-rich crustal materials with a pos-sible melting temperature of about 900°C and a possible crystallization temperature of 775-795°C.(5) During the post-collision of the Himalaya orogen, with the southeastward extrusion of the Indochina continent resulting from the continuous northward indentation of the India continent into the Asia, the Gaoligong Fault,as the western boundary of the Indochina continent, moved in the dextral strike-slip on a large scale to trigger partial melting of the thickened crust, and the peraluminous granitic magma from which the Shuangmaidi two-mica orthoclase granite derived was formed. | HUANG JingNing CHEN YongQing ZHAI XiaoMing LU YingXiang XIE YongFu CHENG ZhiZhong | 2011 | Science China Earth Sciences2011,54,7: | 7
Response of the magnetic field and plasmas at the geosynchronous orbit to interplanetary shock显示文摘Interplanetary shock can greatly disturb the Earth's magnetosphere and ionosphere, causing the temporal and spatial changes of the magnetic field and plasmas at the geosynchronous orbit. In this paper, we use the magnetic field data of GOES satellites from 1997 to 2007 and the plasma data of MPA on the LANL satellites from 1997 to 2004 to study the properties of magnetic field and plasma (0.03―45 keV) at the geosynchronous orbit (6.6 RE) within 3 hours before and after the arrival of shock front at the geosynchronous orbit through both case study and superposed epoch analysis. It is found that following the arrival of shock front at the geosynchronous orbit, the magnetic field magnitude, as well as GSM BZ component increases significantly on the dayside (8―16 LT), while the BY component has almost no change before and after shock impacts. In response to the interplanetary shock, the proton becomes much denser with a peak number density of 1.2 cm-3, compared to the typical number density of 0.7 cm-3. The proton temperature increases sharply, predominantly on the dusk and night side. The electron, density increases dramatically on the night side with a peak number density of 2.0 cm-3. The inferred ionospheric O+ density after the interplanetary shock impact reaches the maximum value of 1.2 cm-3 on the dusk side and exhibits the clear dawn-dusk asymmetry. The peak of the anisotropy of proton's temperature is located at the noon sector, and the anisotropy decreases towards the dawn and dusk side. The minimum of temperature anisotropy is on the night side. It is suggested that the electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) wave and whistler wave can be stimulated by the proton and electron temperature anisotropy respectively. The computed electromagnetic ion cyclotron wave (EMIC) intense on the day side (8―16 LT) with a frequency value of 0.8 Hz, and the wave intensity decreases towards the dawn and dusk side, the minimum value can be found on the night side. The computed electron whistler wave locates on the day side (8―16 LT) with a value of 2 kHz. | YUE Chao ZONG QiuGangt WANG YongFu | 2009 | Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,22: | 7
