Gas Hydrates in the Qilian Mountain Permafrost, Qinghai, Northwest China显示文摘Qilian Mountain permafrost, with area about 10×104 km2, locates in the north of Qinghai-Tibet plateau. It equips with perfect conditions and has great prospecting potential for gas hydrate. The Scientific Drilling Project of Gas Hydrate in Qilian Mountain permafrost, which locates in Juhugeng of Muri Coalfield, Tianjun County, Qinghai Province, has been implemented by China Geological Survey in 2008–2009. Four scientific drilling wells have been completed with a total footage of 2059.13 m. Samples of gas hydrate are collected separately from holes DK-1, DK-2 and DK-3. Gas hydrate is hosted under permafrost zone in the 133–396 m interval. The sample is white crystal and easily burning. Anomaly low temperature has been identified by the infrared camera. The gas hydrate-bearing cores strongly bubble in the water. Gas-bubble and water-drop are emitted from the hydrate-bearing cores and then characteristic of honeycombed structure is left. The typical spectrum curve of gas hydrate is detected using Raman spectrometry. Furthermore, the logging profile also indicates high electrical resistivity and sonic velocity. Gas hydrate in Qilian Mountain is characterized by a thinner permafrost zone, shallower buried depth, more complex gas component and coal-bed methane origin etc.ZHU Youhai ZHANG Yongqin WEN Huaijun LU Zhenquan JIA Zhiyao LI Yonghong LI Qinghai LIU Changling WANG Pingkang GUO Xingwang 2010Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2010,84,1:19
Oxygen isotope variation in the water cycle of the Yamzho Lake Basin in southern Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Given the potential use of stable isotope in the paleoclimate reconstruction from lacustrine records as well as in the local hydrology cycle, it is crucial to understand the processes of stable isotope evolution in catchment in the Tibetan Plateau region. Here we present a detailed study on the water oxygen isotope based on 2 years observation including precipitation, river water and lake water in the Yamzho Lake, south of the Tibetan Plateau. Temporal variation of local precipitation δ18O shows an apparent 'monsoon cycle'. In monsoon season, δ18O in waters is lower. In non-monsoon season, δ18O in precipitation and lake water is higher and higher river δ18O exists in spring, probably reflecting the effect of land surface evaporation, together with the higher δ18O values in spring precipitation. It is also found that the surface lake water δ18O varies seasonally and annually. The lower lake water δ18O in the late summer is apparently related to the summer monsoon precipitation. The mean δ18O value of lake water in 2007 is 1.2‰ higher than that in 2004, probably due to the less monsoon precipitation in summer of 2007, as can be confirmed from the precipitation data at the Langkazi meteorological data. It is also found that an obvious shift of vertical lake water δ18O reflects the fast mixture of lake water. δ18O values of lake water are over 10‰ higher than those of precipitation and river water in this region due to the evaporation fractionation. The modeled results show that the evaporation process of the lake water is sensitive to relative humidity, and the present lake water δ18O reflects a relative humidity of 51% in the Yamzho Lake. It shows that the lake will take 30.5 years to reach present lake water δ18O given a large shift in the input water δ18O. The modeled results also reveal that surface lake water temperature and inflow δ18O have slight effect on the isotopic balance process of lake water in the Yamzho Lake.GAO Jing TIAN LiDe LIU YongQin GONG TongLiang 2009Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,16:12
Involvement of C2H2 zinc finger proteins in the regulation of epidermal cell fate determination in Arabidopsis显示文摘Cell fate determination is a basic developmental process during the growth of multicellular organisms.Trichomes and root hairs of Arabidopsis are both readily accessible structures originating from the epidermal cells of the aerial tissues and roots respectively, and they serve as excellent models for understanding the molecular mechanisms controlling cell fate determination and cell morphogenesis. The regulation of trichome and root hair formationis a complex program that consists of the integration of hormonal signals with a large number of transcriptional factors, including MYB and b HLH transcriptional factors.Studies during recent years have uncovered an important role of C2H2 type zinc finger proteins in the regulation of epidermal cell fate determination. Here in this minireview we briefly summarize the involvement of C2H2 zinc finger proteins in the control of trichome and root hair formation in Arabidopsis. An Yan Minjie Wu Yongqin Zhao Aidong Zhang Bohan Liu John Schiefelbein Yinbo Gan 2014Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2014,56,12:7
Seasonal variation of snow microbial community structure in the East Rongbuk glacier, Mt. Everest显示文摘The bacterial diversity and abundance in the snow of East Rongbuk glacier, Mt. Everest were examined through 16S rRNA gene clone library and flow cytometry approaches. In total, 35 16S rRNA gene sequences were obtained, which belong to α, β, γ-Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, Firmicutes, CFB, Cyanobacteria, Eukaryotic chloroplast, and TM7 candidate phylum respectively. γ-Proteobacteria was the dominant bacterial group in this region, while the genera Acinetobacter and Leclercia were domi- nant on the genus level. The community structure varied seasonally. The bacterial abundance in sum- mer snow was higher than that in winter. Moreover, the snow bacterial community structures in both seasons were diverse, with not only common species but season-specific species. The common species most likely originated from the Tibet Plateau. Bacteria in summer snow are affiliated with marine environ- ment, whereas bacteria in winter snow are closely related to more diverse environments and show the feature of resistance to cold. Seasonal variations of abundance and bacterial diversity were most proba- bly due to the seasonal characteristics of climate and atmospheric circulation in Mt. Everest.LIU Yongqin YAO Tandong KANG Shichang JIAO Nianzhi ZENG Yonghui SHI Yang LUO Tingwei JING Zhefang HUANG Shijun 2006Chinese Science Bulletin2006,51,12:7

Elemental composition in surface snow from the ultra-high elevation area of Mt. Qomolangma (Everest)显示文摘A total of 14 surface snow (0―10 cm) samples were collected along the climbing route (6500―8844 m a.s.l.) on the northern slope of Mt. Qomolangma in May, 2005. Analysis of elemental concentrations in these samples showed that there are no clear trends for element variations with elevation due to re- distribution of surface snow by strong winds during spring. In addition, local crustal aerosol inputs also have an influence on elemental composition of surface snow. Comparison between elemental concentration datasets of 2005 and 1997 indicated that data from 2005 were of higher quality. Elemental concentrations (especially for heavy metals) at Mt. Qomolangma are comparable with polar sites, and far lower than large cities. This indicates that anthropogenic activities and heavy metal pollution have little effect on the Mt. Qomolangma atmospheric environment, which can be representative of the background atmospheric environment.ZHANG QiangGong KANG ShiChang CONG ZhiYuan HOU ShuGui LIU YongQin 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,2:5
A comprehensive census of lake microbial diversity on a global scale显示文摘Despite recent interest in microbial diversity and community structure of lakes across various spatial scales, a global biogeographic distribution pattern and its controlling factors have not been fully disclosed. Here, we compiled and analyzed 88,334,735 environmental 16S rRNA sequences from 431 lakes across a wide range of geographical distance and environmental conditions(in particular, salinity, 0–373.3 gL^–1). Our results showed that lake sediments inhabit significantly(ANOVA: P<0.001) more diverse microbial communities than lake waters. Non-metric dimensional scaling(NMDS) ordinations indicated that microbial community compositions differed distinctly among sample types(freshwater vs. saline, water vs. sediment) and geographic locations. Mantel and partial Mantel tests showed that microbial community composition in lake water was significantly(P=0.001) correlated with geographic distance, salinity, and pH. Statistical analyses based on neutral community and null models indicated that stochastic processes may play predominant roles in shaping the microbial biogeographic distribution patterns in the studied global lake waters. The dispersal-related stochasticity(e.g., homogenizing dispersal) exhibited a stronger influence on the distribution of microbial community in freshwater lakes than in saline lakes. Overall, this work expands our understanding of the impact of geographic distance, environmental conditions, and stochastic processes on microbial distribution in global lakes.Jian Yang Hongchen Jiang Hailiang Dong Yongqin Liu 2019Science China(Life Sciences)2019,62,10:5
Microbial community structure in major habitats above 6000 m on Mount Everest显示文摘Bacterial abundance in surface snow between 6600 and 8000 m a.s.l. on the northern slope of Mt. Ev- erest was investigated by flow cytometry. Bacterial diversity in serac ice at 6000 m a.s.l., glacier melt- water at 6350 m, and surface snow at 6600 m a.s.l. was examined by constructing a 16S rRNA gene clone library. Bacterial abundance in snow was higher than that in the Antarctic but similar to other mountain regions in the world. Bacterial abundance in surface snow increased with altitude but showed no correlation with chemical parameters. Bacteria in the cryosphere on Mt. Everest were closely related to those isolated from soil, aquatic environments, plants, animals, humans and other frozen environ- ments. Bacterial community structures in major habitats above 6000 m were variable. The Cyto- phaga-Flavobacterium-Bacteroides (CFB) group absolutely dominated in glacial meltwater, while β-Proteobacteria and the CFB group dominated in serac ice, and β-Proteobacteria and Actinobacteria dominated in surface snow. The remarkable differences among the habitats were most likely due to the bacterial post-deposition changes during acclimation processes.LIU YongQin YAO TanDong KANG ShiChang JIAO NianZhi ZENG YongHui HUANG SiJun LUO TingWei 2007Chinese Science Bulletin2007,52,17:5
Achieving ultrahigh electrocatalytic NH_(3) yield rate on Fe-doped Bi_(2)WO_(6) electrocatalyst显示文摘NH_(3),derived from electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction(NRR),is promising to satisfy the need of food production and serve as a carbon-free liquid energy carrier in the near future.Yet major challenges remain in enhancing NH_(3) yield rate and conversion efficiency of available electrocatalysts. This work achieved an ultrahigh electrocatalytic NH_(3)yield rate on the_(0.50)Fe-Bi_(2)W0_(6) catalyst by a facile Fe-doped strategy.Up to 289μg·h^(-1)·mg_(cat)^(-1) of NH_(3) formation rate was obtained at-0.75 V vs.RHE,which was reliably quantized by indophenol blue and ^(1)H NMR methods. The impressive result is an order of magnitude higher than that of the reported Fe-and Bi-based catalysts, even more superior than the result of single atom Ru catalyst. The key of the outstanding NRR behaviors on the_(0.50)Fe-Bi_(2)W0_(6) catalyst is the significant hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)suppression and the synergy between Bi and Fe,which can effectively modulate the electron distribution and accelerate the electron transport. This work endows a new insight to further explore the high-performance electrocatalysts toward NRR.Yongqin Liu Liang Huang Youxing Fang Xinyang Zhu Shaojun Dong 2021Nano Research2021,14,8:3
Horizontal and vertical gene transfer drive sediment antibiotic resistome in an urban lagoon system显示文摘Rapid urbanization has resulted in pervasive occurrence of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)in urban aquatic ecosystems. However, limited information is available concerning the ARG profiles and the forces responsible for their assembly in urban landscape lagoon systems. Here,we employed high-throughput quantitative PCR(HT-q PCR)to characterize the spatial variations of ARGs in surface and core sediments of Yundang Lagoon,China. The results indicated that the average richness and absolute abundance of ARGs were 11 and 53 times higher in the lagoon sediments as compared to pristine reference Tibetan lake sediments, highlighting the role of anthropogenic activities in ARG pollution.Co-occurrence network analysis indicated that various anaerobic prokaryotic genera belonging to Alpha-,Deltaproteobacteria,Bacteroidetes,Euryarchaeota,Firmicutes and Synergistetes were the potential hosts of ARGs.The partial least squares-path modeling(PLS-PM)analysis revealed positive and negative indirect effects of physicochemical factors and heavy metals on the lagoon ARG profiles, via biotic factors, respectively. The horizontal(mediated by mobile genetic elements)and vertical(mediated by prokaryotic communities)gene transfer may directly contribute the most to drive the abundance and composition of ARGs,respectively.Furthermore, the neutral community model demonstrated that the assembly of sediment ARG communities was jointly governed by deterministic and stochastic processes.Overall, this study provides novel insights into the diversity and distribution of ARGs in the benthic habitat of urban lagoon systems and underlying mechanisms for the spread and proliferation of ARGs.Hongjie Wang Liyuan Hou Yongqin Liu Keshao Liu Lanping Zhang Fuyi Huang Lin Wang Azhar Rashid Anyi Hu Changping Yu 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,4:2
Tall gastrodis tuber combined with antiepileptic drugs repairs abnormal perfusion foci in focal epilepsy显示文摘One hundred patients with focal epilepsy were recruited for the present study and their seizures controlled with antiepileptic drugs. The patients then orally received a capsule of tall gastrodis tuber powder, a traditional Chinese drug, and underwent single photon emission computed tomography, long-term electroencephalogram, and CT/MRI. Blood drug levels were monitored throughout the study. Before treatment with tall gastrodis tuber, 35 of the 100 cases had abnormal CT/MRI scans; 79 cases had abnormal single photon emission computed tomography images; 86 cases had abnormal electroencephalogram; and a total of 146 abnormal perfusion foci were observed across the 100 subjects. After treatment, the number of patients with normal single photon emission computed tomography images increased by 12; normal electroencephalogram was observed in an additional 27 cases and the number of patients with epileptiform discharge decreased by 29 (34% of 86); the total number of abnormal perfusion foci decreased by 52 (36%) and changes in abnormal foci were visible in 65 patients. These changes indicate that the administration of tall gastrodis tuber in combination with antiepileptic drugs repairs abnormal perfusion foci in patients with focal epilepsy. Our results demonstrate that traditional Chinese drugs can repair abnormal perfusion foci and, as such, are a promising new pathway in the treatment of focal epilepsy.Weimin Wang Zhenyu Fan Yongqin Zhang Yuxia Yang Yaqing Liu Xiaoli Dang Wenjun Song Yinping Wu Jiang Ye 2013Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,3:2
A Novel CoFe2NiMn0.3AlCux High-Entropy Alloy with Excellent Magnetic Properties and Good Mechanical Properties显示文摘In the present study,we investigate the crystal structure of high-entropy alloys(HEAs)in the form of CoFe2NiMn0.3AlCux(x=0.25,0.50,0.75,and 1.00)and their mechanical and magnetic properties. The CoFe2NiMn0.3AlCux alloys are composed of a mixture of a body-centered cubic(BCC)and a face-centered cubic(FCC)solid solution. The increased amounts of copper(Cu)boost both alloy strength and plastic ductility. The CoFe2 NiMn0.3AlCu1.0 HEAs demonstrate excellent mechanical properties, such as a high strength of 1832 MPa and a large plastic ductility of 22.38%.Magnetic property measurements on this alloy system indicated high saturated magnetization and high coercivity. The coercivity of the tested alloys lies in the range between 40 and 182 Oe,suggesting that the alloys have semi-hard magnetic properties. This study suggests that the present CoFe2NiMn0.3AlCux HEAs could serve as potential candidates for soft magnets in electromagnetic applications.Man Zhu Chi Zhang Kun Li Yongqin Liu Mao Zhang Lijuan Yao Zengyun Jian 2021Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2021,34,11:1

Elevational patterns of abundant and rare bacterial diversity and composition in mountain streams in the southeast of the Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Elevational gradients are powerful ‘natural laboratory' for testing the responses of microbes to geophysical influences. Microbial communities are normally composed of a few abundant and many rare taxa. Abundant and rare taxa play different ecological roles in kinds of environments, but how their diversity and composition patterns response to elevation gradients is still poorly elucidated. In this study, we investigated the elevational patterns of abundant and rare bacterial diversity and composition in a mountain stream from 712 to 3435 m at Gangrigabu Mountain on the Tibetan Plateau, China. Our results revealed abundant and rare bacteria had similar decreasing elevation trend of alpha diversity, and both of them showed a significant elevational distance-decay relationship. However, the turnover rate of the elevational distance-decay of rare bacteria was higher than that of abundant bacteria. The species-abundance distribution patterns of rare taxonomic composition were associated with the elevational gradient, while most of abundant bacterial clades did not display any relationships with elevation. Our results suggested that rare bacteria were more sensitive to changes in elevation gradient.Keshao LIU TANDong YAO Yongqin LIU Baiqing XU Anyi HU Yuying CHEN 2019Science China Earth Sciences2019,62,5:1

Prediction of lining response for twin tunnels constructed in anisotropic clay using machine learning techniques显示文摘Excessive structural forces generated inside tunnel linings could affect the safety and serviceability of tunnels, emphasizing the need to accurately predict the forces acting on tunnel linings during the preliminary design phase. In this study,an anisotropic soil model devel-oped by Norwegian Geotechnical Institute(NGI)based on the Active-Direct shear-Passive concept(NGI-ADP model)was adopted to conduct finite element(FE)analyses.A total of 682 cases were modeled to analyze the effects of five key parameters on twin-tunnel struc-tural forces;these parameters included twin-tunnel arrangements and subsurface soil properties:burial depth H,tunnel center-to-center distance D,soil strength s_(u)^(A),stiffness ratio G_(u)=s_(u)^(A),and degree of anisotropy ss_(u)^(P)=s_(u)^(A).The significant factors contributing to the bending moment and thrust force of the linings were the tunnel distance and overlying soil depth, respectively. The degree of anisotropy of the surrounding soil was found to be extremely important in simulating the twin-tunnel construction, and severe design errors could be made if the soil anisotropy is ignored.A cutting-edge application of machine learning in the construction of twin tunnels is presented;multivariate adaptive regression splines and decision tree regressor methods are developed to predict the maximum bending moment within the first tunnel’s linings based on the constructed FE cases. The developed prediction model can enable engineers to estimate the structural response of twin tunnels more accurately in order to meet the specific target reliability indices of projects.Wengang Zhang Yongqin Li Chongzhi Wu Hongrui Li ATC Goh Hanlong Liu 2022Underground Space2022,7,1:1
