Clinical characteristics of 24 asymptomatic infections with COVID-19 screened among close contacts in Nanjing,China显示文摘Previous studies have showed clinical characteristics of patients with the 2019 novel coronavirus disease(COVID-19)and the evidence of person-to-person transmission.Limited data are available for asymptomatic infections. This study aims to present the clinical characteristics of 24 cases with asymptomatic infection screened from close contacts and to show the transmission potential of asymptomatic COVID-19 virus carriers.Epidemiological investigations were conducted among all close contacts of COVID-19 patients(or suspected patients)in Nanjing,Jiangsu Province,China, from Jan 28 to Feb 9,2020,both in clinic and in community.Asymptomatic carriers were laboratory-confirmed positive for the COVID-19 virus by testing the nucleic acid of the pharyngeal swab samples.Their clinical records, laboratory assessments, and chest CT scans were reviewed. As a result, none of the 24 asymptomatic cases presented any obvious symptoms while nucleic acid screening.Five cases(20.8%)developed symptoms(fever, cough, fatigue, etc.)during hospitalization.Twelve(50.0%)cases showed typical CT images of ground-glass chest and 5(20.8%)presented stripe shadowing in the lungs. The remaining 7(29.2%)cases showed normal CT image and had no symptoms during hospitalization. These 7 cases were younger(median age:14.0 years;P=0.012)than the rest.None of the 24 cases developed severe COVID-19 pneumonia or died. The median communicable period, defined as the interval from the first day of positive nucleic acid tests to the first day of continuous negative tests, was 9.5 days(up to 21 days among the 24 asymptomatic cases).Through epidemiological investigation,we observed a typical asymptomatic transmission to the cohabiting family members, which even caused severe COVID-19 pneumonia.Overall, the asymptomatic carriers identified from close contacts were prone to be mildly ill during hospitalization. However, the communicable period could be up to three weeks and the communicated patients could develop severe illness. These results highlighted the importance of close contact tracing and longitudinally surveillance via virus nucleic acid tests.Further isolation recommendation and continuous nucleic acid tests may also be recommended to the patients discharged. | Zhiliang Hu Ci Song Chuanjun Xu Guangfu Jin Yaling Chen Xin Xu Hongxia Ma Wei Chen Yuan Lin Yishan Zheng Jianming Wang Zhibin Hu Yongxiang Yi Hongbing Shen | 2020 | Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,5: | 77
Radiofrequency ablation or microwave ablation combined with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization in treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma by comparing with radiofrequency ablation alone显示文摘Objective:To compare radiofrequency ablation(RFA) or microwave ablation(MWA) and transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE) with RFA or MWA monotherapy in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Methods:A prospective, randomized, controlled trial was conducted on 94 patients with HCC ≤7 cm at a single tertiary referral center from June 2008 to June 2010 at the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Southeast University. The patients were randomly assigned into the TACERFA or TACE-MWA(combined treatment group) and the RFA-alone or MWA-alone groups(control group). The primary end point was overall survival. The secondary end point was recurrence-free survival, and the tertiary end point was adverse effects. Results:Until the time of censor,17 patients in the TACE-RFA or TACE-MWA group had died. The median follow-up time of the patients who were still alive for the TACE-RFA or TACE-MWA group was 47.5±11.3 months(range,29 to 62 months). The 1-,3- and 5-year overall survival for the TACE-RFA or TACE-MWA group was 93.6%,68.1% and 61.7%,respectively.Twenty-five patients in the RFA or MWA group had died. The median follow-up time of the patients who were still alive for the RFA or MWA group was 47.0±12.9 months(range,28 to 62 months). The 1-,3- and 5-year overall survival for the RFA or MWA group was 85.1%,59.6% and 44.7%,respectively.The patients in the TACE-RFA or TACE-MWA group had better overall survival than the RFA or MWA group [hazard ratio(HR),0.526;95% confidence interval(95% CI),0.334-0.823;P=0.002],and showed better recurrence-free survival than the RFA or MWA group(HR,0.582;95% CI,0.368-0.895;P=0.008).Conclusions:RFA or MWA combined with TACE in the treatment of HCC ≤7 cm was superior to RFA or MWA alone in improving survival by reducing arterial and portal blood flow due to TACE with iodized oil before RFA. | Yongxiang Yi Yufeng Zhang Qiang Wei Liang Zhao Jianbo Han Yan Song Ying Ding Guilan Lu Junmao Liu Huaiying Ding Feng Dai Xiaojun Tang | 2014 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2014,26,1: | 29
Effects of Shuanghuanglian oral liquids on patients with COVID-19:a randomized,open-label,parallel-controlled,multicenter clinical trial显示文摘We conducted a randomized,open-label,parallel-controlled,multicenter trial on the use of Shuanghuanglian(SHL),a traditional Chinese patent medicine,in treating cases of COVID-19.A total of 176 patients received SHL by three doses(56 in low dose,61 in middle dose, and 59 in high dose)in addition to standard care. The control group was composed of 59 patients who received standard therapy alone.Treatment with SHL was not associated with a difference from standard care in the time to disease recovery.Patients with 14-day SHL treatment had significantly higher rate in negative conversion of SARS-CoV-2 in nucleic acid swab tests than the patients from the control group(93.4%vs.73.9%,P=0.006).Analysis of chest computed tomography images showed that treatment with high-dose SHL significantly promoted absorption of inflammatory focus of pneumonia, which was evaluated by density reduction of inflammatory focus from baseline,at day 7(mean difference(95%CI),−46.39(−86.83 to−5.94)HU;P=0.025)and day 14(mean difference(95%CI),−74.21(−133.35 to−15.08)HU;P=0.014).No serious adverse events occurred in the SHL groups. This study illustrated that SHL in combination with standard care was safe and partially effective for the treatment of COVID-19. | Li Ni Zheng Wen Xiaowen Hu Wei Tang Haisheng Wang Ling Zhou Lujin Wu Hong Wang Chang Xu Xizhen Xu Zhichao Xiao Zongzhe Li Chene Li Yujian Liu Jialin Duan Chen Chen Dan Li Runhua Zhang Jinliang Li Yongxiang Yi Wei Huang Yanyan Chen Jianping Zhao Jianping Zuo Jianping Weng Hualiang Jiang Dao Wen Wang | 2021 | Frontiers of Medicine2021,15,5: | 7

Ni/MgO catalyst prepared using atmospheric high-frequency discharge plasma for CO_2 reforming of methane显示文摘A new type of Ni/MgO catalyst was prepared using atmospheric high-frequency discharge cold plasma. The influences of conventional method, plasma method, and plasma plus calcination method on the catalytic activity were studied and the CO2 reforming of methane was chosen as the probe reaction. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and CO2 temperature-programmed surface reaction techniques. The results suggested that the nickel-based catalyst prepared by plasma plus calcination method possessed a smaller particle size and a higher dispersion of active component, better low-temperature activity and enhanced anti-coking ability. The conversion of CO2 and CH4 was 90.70% and 89.37%, respectively, and the reaction lasted for 36 h without obvious deactivation under 101.325 kPa and 750°C with CO2/CH4 = 1/1. | Pan Qin Huiyuan Xu Huali Long Yi Ran Shuyong Shang Yongxiang Yin Xiaoyan Dai | 2011 | Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2011,20,5: | 3
Immune responses of dendritic cells combined with tumor-derived autophagosome vaccine on hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Background:To induce and collect tumor-derived autophagosomes(DRibbles) from tumor cells as an antitumor vaccine by inhibiting the functions of proteasomes and lysosomes. Methods:Dendritic cells(DCs) generated from peripheral blood mononuclear cell(PBMC) of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) patients were cocultured with DRibbles, and then surface molecules of DCs,as well as surface molecules on DCs,were determined by flow cytometry.Meanwhile, immune responses of the DCs-DRibbles were examined by mixed lymphocyte reactions. Results:DRibbles significantly induced the expression of CD80,CD83,CD86 and HLA-DR on DCs.The enzyme-linked immunosorbnent assay(ELISA) showed that IFN-γ levels after vaccination increased than before in most patients, but CD8+ proportion of PBMC increased only in nine patients.Higher levels of IFN-γ were detected in the CD8+ cells than CD4+ T cells. These results suggested that DCs-DRibbles vaccine could induce antigen-specific cellular immune response on HCC and could prime strong CD8+ T cell responses, supporting it as a tumor vaccine candidate. Conclusions:Our results demonstrate that HCC/DRibbles-pulsed DCs immunotherapy might be deployed as an effective antitumor vaccine for HCC immunotherapy in clinical trials. | Yongxiang Yi Jianbo Han Liang Zhao Chunying Wang Yuan Fang Qiang Wei Liang Hu Junmao Liu Yufeng Zhang Lili Wang | 2015 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2015,27,6: | 2
Prediction Model of Coal Reservoir Pressure and its Implication for the Law of Coal Reservoir Depressurization显示文摘The main methods of coalbed methane(CBM)development are drainage and depressurization, and a precise prediction of coal reservoir pressure is thus crucial for the evaluation of reservoir potentials and the formulation of reasonable development plans. This work established a new reservoir pressure prediction model based on the material balance equation(MBE)of coal reservoir, which considers the self-regulating effects of coal reservoirs and the dynamic change of equivalent drainage area(EDA).According to the proposed model, the reservoir pressure can be predicted based on reservoir condition data and the actual production data of a single well.Compared with traditional reservoir pressure prediction models which regard EDA as a fixed value, the proposed model can better predict the average pressure of reservoirs. Moreover, orthogonal experiments were designed to evaluate the sensitivity of reservoir parameters on the reservoir pressure prediction results of this proposed model. The results show that the saturation of irreducible water is the most sensitive parameter, followed by Langmuir volume and reservoir porosity, and Langmuir pressure is the least sensitive parameter. In addition, the pressure drop of reservoirs is negatively correlated with the saturation of irreducible water and the Langmuir volume, while it is positively correlated with porosity. This work analyzed the reservoir pressure drop characteristics of the CBM wells in the Shizhuangnan Block of the Qinshui Basin, and the results show that the CBM reservoir depressurization can be divided into three types,i.e.,rapidly drop type,medium-term stability type, and slowly drop type. The drainage features of wells were reasonably interpreted based on the comprehensive analysis of the reservoir depressurization type;the latter was coupled to the corresponding permeability dynamic change characteristics, eventually proving the applicability of the proposed model. | YAN Xinlu ZHANG Songhang TANG Shuheng LI Zhongcheng WANG Kaifeng YI Yongxiang DANG Feng HU Qiuping | 2019 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2019,93,3: | 2
Targeting IL-22 and IL-22R protects against experimental osteoarthritis显示文摘Osteoarthritis(OA)is characterized by cartilage degradation, pain, and synovitis.1 Joint inflammation driven by cytokines has been demonstrated to cause cartilage degradation and pain.2 However, approaches to neutralize cytokines, such as IL-1 and TNF-α,known to be involved in OA have shown poor clinical efficacy.3 There is an unmet clinical need to find better anti-inflammatory and pain targets for OA therapy and to elucidate the role of other cytokines in OA pathogenesis.Previous studies have shown that IL-22 and its receptor IL-22R play central roles in inflammation and diseases such as psoriasis, ulcerative colitis,graft-versus-host disease, certain infections and tumors,as well as in liver and pancreas damage.4,5 The role of IL-22/IL-22R and the potential for therapeutic targeting of both proteins in OA remain largely unknown, which we sought to investigate. | Changhua Yi Yongxiang Yi Jie Wei Qingwen Jin Junwei Li Pradeep Kumar Sacitharan | 2021 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,5: | 1
Placement of dual capsular tension rings for the combined management of traumatic cyclodialysis cleft and zonular dialysis显示文摘Background:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of placing dual capsular tension rings for the combined management of traumatic cyclodialysis cleft and zonular dialysis. Methods:A modified capsular tension ring was inserted into the ciliary sulcus and a capsular tension ring or modified capsular tension ring was inserted into the capsular bag in 20 eyes in 20 consecutive patients showing signs of ocular hypotony and ectopia lentis.Outcome measures included intraocular pressure,best-corrected visual acuity, and postoperative complications. Results:Dual capsular tension ring placement was performed in 20 patients with a mean age of 48.7 years. The cyclodialysis cleft extended over 2.9 clock hours(range 0.5-6.5).The modified capsular tension ring was successfully inserted into the ciliary sulcus and a capsular tension ring or modified capsular tension ring in the capsular bag in all eyes.At the last follow-up,the cyclodialysis cleft was closed in 16/20(80.0%)eyes.The intraocular lens was stable in all patients postoperatively.Best-corrected visual acuity,in terms of the logarithm of the minimal angle of resolution, improved from 1.3±0.8 before surgery to 0.4±0.3 after surgery(P<0.001).Intraocular pressure increased significantly from 10.6±3.2 mmHg before surgery to 13.0±4.8 mmHg after surgery(P=0.040).Postoperative complications included a painful reversible intraocular pressure spike in four patients(20.0%).Logistic regression revealed no significant factors associated with successful cleft closure and a stable final intraocular pressure of≥10 mmHg.Conclusions:The placement of two capsular tension rings into the ciliary sulcus and the capsular bag is a safe, successful procedure combined for repairing a traumatic cyclodialysis cleft and managing zonular dialysis. | Jiahui Chen Lina Lan Yating Tang Yi Lu Yongxiang Jiang | 2020 | Eye and Vision2020,7,1: | 1
An unusual COVID-19 case with over four months of viral shedding in the presence of low neutralizing antibodies: a case report显示文摘The ongoing coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic is a global public health crisis, causing social and economic disasters in many countries. In China,two-consecutive negative results of nucleic acid tests for SARS-CoV-2 from the respiratory samples are required to end the quarantine of COVID-19 patients. However, clinicians face a dilemma in case of patients with long-term viral shedding. This report described an unusual COVID-19 case who had persistent viral RNA positivity for more than 4 months after initial illness in the presence of low neutralizing antibodies, but without prolonged clinical symptoms.Multiple anti-viral drug treatments had no impact and there was no evidence of re-infection.When the patient was self-quarantined at home,no infection occurred to the three family members living with her for 15 to 19 days.Sputum viral culture in BSL-3 laboratory on the 102nd day after symptom onset was negative. From the 129th day on,8 continuous nucleic acid tests of sputum samples showed negative results. The patient was discharged on 137th days since symptom onset. In conclusion, viral RNA shedding in the sputum of the COVID-19 patient may last over 4 months. As no evidence shows the existence of infectious virus,two-consecutive negative nucleic acid tests may not be the prerequisite for ending quarantine of COVID-19 patients with prolonged viral shedding. | Wei Chen Zhiliang Hu Changhua Yi Yun Chi Qingfang Xiong Chee Wah Tan Yongxiang Yi Lin-Fa Wang | 2020 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2020,34,6: | 1
Adiponectin exacerbates influenza infection in elderly individuals via IL-18显示文摘Dear Editor,Influenza affects humans of all ages;however, elderly people have increased susceptibility to infections and are especially predisposed to complications.1 A number of global efforts have increased influenza vaccination administration in elderly people to reduce complications, particularly when seasonal influenza infections peak.2 To date, much is known about how influenza infection and host immunity interact during pathogenesis, which has led to a number of vaccines.3,4 However, the impact of influenza vaccines in older people is modest.2 Hence, the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms responsible for the worsening of influenza infection in old age are still elusive. | Youzhu Jiang Changhua Yi Yongxiang Yi Qingwen Jin Angray SKang Junwei Li Pradeep Kumar Sacitharan | 2020 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1: | 1

Preoperative Characteristics of Ocular Biometry in Children with Unilateral Congenital Cataracts显示文摘The ocular biometry characteristics are clinically significant for children with unilateral congenital cataracts, but there is a lack of data analysis concerning the preoperative measurements. The axial length(AL),mean keratometry(Km),cor-neal astigmatism(CA),and the anterior chamber depth(ACD)from both eyes before cataract surgery were obtained from 205 patients(410 eyes,3-15 years of age)with unilateral congenital cataracts. In the congenital cataract eyes, shorter AL(22.44±1.52 mm vs.22.57±1.04 mm,p=0.036)and higher CA(-1.89±0.91 D vs.-1.24±0.67 D,p<0.001)were found, and no significant difference was found in the Km and the ACD measurements compared to the contralateral normal eyes.Females had shorter AL and shallower ACD compared to males. However, the Km and CA in the females were significantly larger than that in males.Shorter AL,larger Km,higher CA,and shallower ACD were also found in females who had a binocular axial difference(the value obtained by subtraction of the contralateral normal eye from the congenital cataract eye)that less than zero. The preoperative ocular biometry of shorter AL,larger Km,higher CA,and shallower ACD should be considered in females with unilateral congenital cataracts. The age and the binocular axial differences had a statistically significant correlation(r=-0.192,p=0.006).Therefore,changes in the binocular axial differences associated with aging may enhance the guidelines for intraocular lens selection and the management of congenital cataracts. | Jiahui Chen Yating Tang Yongxiang Jiang Yi Lu | 2022 | Phenomics2022,2,2: | 0

Determination of the effective utilization coefficient of irrigation water based on geographically weighted regression显示文摘This study uses geographically weighted regression to determine the spatial distribution of the effective utilization coefficient of irrigation water in Zhejiang Province,China, owing to the influences of spatial attributes on the irrigation efficiency. The sample set of this study comprised 165 agricultural test sites.A multivariate linear regression model and a geographically weighted regression model were established using the effective utilization coefficient of agricultural irrigation water as the dependent variable in addition to a suite of independent variables, including the actual irrigation area, the percentage of farmland using water-saving irrigation, the type of irrigation area, the net water consumption per mu,the water intake method, the terrain slope, and the soil field capacity. Results revealed a positive spatial correlation and noticeable agglomeration features in the effective utilization coefficient of irrigation water in Zhejiang Province. The geographically weighted regression model performed better in terms of fit and prediction accuracy than the multivariate linear regression model. The obtained findings confirm the suitability of the geographically weighted regression model for determining the spatial distribution of the effective utilization coefficient of irrigation water in Zhejiang, and offer a new approach on a regional scale. | Rui SHI Gaoxu WANG Xuan ZHANG Yi XU Yongxiang WU Wei WU | 2022 | Frontiers of Earth Science2022,16,2: | 0
