1Multimorbidity patterns and association with mortality in 0.5 million Chinese adults显示文摘Background:Few studies have assessed the relationship between multimorbidity patterns and mortality risk in the Chinese population.We aimed to identify multimorbidity patterns and examined the associations of multimorbidity patterns and the number of chronic diseases with the risk of mortality among Chinese middle-aged and older adults.Methods:We used data from the China Kadoorie Biobank and included 512,723 participants aged 30 to 79 years.Multimorbidity was defined as the presence of two or more of the 15 chronic diseases collected by self-report or physical examination at baseline.Multimorbidity patterns were identified using hierarchical cluster analysis.Cox regression was used to estimate the associations of multimorbidity patterns and the number of chronic diseases with all-cause and cause-specific mortality.Results:Overall,15.8%of participants had multimorbidity.The prevalence of multimorbidity increased with age and was higher in urban than rural participants.Four multimorbidity patterns were identified,including cardiometabolic multimorbidity(diabetes,coronary heart disease,stroke,and hypertension),respiratory multimorbidity(tuberculosis,asthma,and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease),gastrointestinal and hepatorenal multimorbidity(gallstone disease,chronic kidney disease,cirrhosis,peptic ulcer,and cancer),and mental and arthritis multimorbidity(neurasthenia,psychiatric disorder,and rheumatoid arthritis).During a median of 10.8 years of follow-up,49,371 deaths occurred.Compared with participants without multimorbidity,cardiometabolic multimorbidity(hazard ratios[HR]=2.20,95%confidence intervals[CI]:2.14-2.26)and respiratory multimorbidity(HR=2.13,95%CI:1.97-2.31)demonstrated relatively higher risks of mortality,followed by gastrointestinal and hepatorenal multimorbidity(HR=1.33,95%CI:1.22-1.46).The mortality risk increased by 36%(HR=1.36,95%CI:1.35-1.37)with every additional disease.Conclusion:Cardiometabolic multimorbidity and respiratory multimorbidity posed the highest threat on mortality risk and deserved particular attention in Chinese adults.Junning Fan Zhijia Sun Canqing Yu Yu Guo Pei Pei Ling Yang Yiping Chen Huaidong Du Dianjianyi Sun Yuanjie Pang Jun Zhang Simon Gilbert Daniel Avery Junshi Chen Zhengming Chen Jun Lyu Liming Li On Behalf of the China Kadoorie Biobank Collaborative Group 2022Chinese Medical Journal2022,,6:17

4Mechanism of floral scent production in Osmanthus fragrans and the production and regulation of its key floral constituents,β-ionone and linalool显示文摘Sweet osmanthus(Osmanthus fragrans Lour.)is among the top ten most well-known flowers in China and is recognized as both an aromatic plant and ornamental flower.Here,manual sectioning,scanning electron microscopy,and transmission electron microscopy of sweet osmanthus petals revealed that large amounts of lipids are present inside the petal cells and on the cell surfaces.However,no secretory structures were observed.Instead,the petal cells protrude slightly outward,and the surfaces of the cells are adorned with highly regular brush-shaped hairs.The surfaces of the‘Yingui’petals possessed mostly curled and more numerous hairs,whereas the‘Dangui’petals possessed fewer brush-shaped and more sparsely arranged hairs.In addition,many granular substances were attached to the brush-shaped hairs,and the granules were denser on the hairs of the‘Yingui’petals compared to the hairs on the‘Dangui’petals.Furthermore,35 aromatic components in the‘Yingui’petals and 30 aromatic components in the‘Dangui’petals were detected via GC-MS.The main aromatic component of the‘Yingui’petals wasβ-ionone,whereas that of the‘Dangui’petals was linalool and its oxides.Transcriptome sequencing and qRT-PCR indicated that the highβ-ionone content in the‘Yingui’petals was due to the overexpression of CCD1 and CCD4 and that the high linalool content in the‘Dangui’petals was due to the overexpression of MECS,HDR,IDI1,and LIS1,which function upstream of the linalool synthetic pathway.In particular,the expression levels of CCD4 and LIS1 were upregulated by 5.5-and 5.1-fold in the‘Yingui’and‘Dangui’petals,respectively.One transcription factor(ERF61)was cloned and named,and the expression pattern of ERF61 in sweet osmanthus petals was found to be generally consistent with that of CCD4.Tobacco transformation experiments,yeast one-hybrid experiments,and electrophoretic mobility shift assays indicated that ERF61 binds to the CCD4 promoter and stimulates CCD4 expression,thereby regulating the synthesis ofβ-ionone in sweet osmanthus petals.Yuanji Han Hongyun Wang Xiaodan Wang Ke Li Meifang Dong Yong Li Qian Zhu Fude Shang 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:13

6High Speed On/Off Valve Control Hydraulic Propeller显示文摘The work-class remotely-operated-underwater-vehicles(ROVs) are mainly driven by hydraulic propulsion system,and the effeciency of hydraulic propulsion system is an important performance index of ROVs.However,the efficiency of traditional hydraulic propulsion system controlled by throttle valves is too low.Therefore,in this paper,for small and medium ROVs,a novel propulsion system with higher efficiency based on high speed on/off valve control hydraulic propeller is proposed.To solve the conflict between large flow rate and high frequency response performance,a two-stage high speed on/off valve-motor unit with large flow rate and high response speed simultaneously is developed.Through theoretical analysis,an effective fluctuation control method and a novel pulse-width-pulse-frequency-modulation(PWPFM) are introduced to solve the conflict among inherently fluctuation,valve dynamic performance and system efficiency.A simulation model is established to evaluate the system performance.To prove the advantage of system in energy saving,and test the dynamic control performance of high speed on/off valve control propeller,a test setup is developed and a series of comparative experiments is completed.The smimulation and experiment results show that the two-stage high speed on/off valve has an excellent dynamic response performance,and can be used to realize high accuracy speed control.The experiment results prove that the new propulsion system has much more advantages than the traditional throttle speed regulation system in energy saving.The lowest efficiency is more than 40%.The application results on a ROV indicate that the high speed on/off valve control propeller system has good dynamic and steady-state control performances.Its transient time is only about 1 s-1.5 s,and steady-state error is less than 5%.Meanwhile,the speed fluctuation is small,and the smooth propeller speed control effect is obtained.On the premise of good propeller speed control performance,the proposed high speed on/off valve control propeller can improve the effeciency of ROV propulsion system significantly,and provides another attractive ROV propulsion system choice for engineers.ZHU Kangwu GU Linyi CHEN Yuanjie LI Wei 2012Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2012,25,3:12
7Risk factors for cardiovascular disease in the Chinese population:recent progress and implications显示文摘Cardiovascular disease(CVD)is the leading cause of death in both urban and rural areas of China.The current evidence regarding CVD risk factors was primarily established in Western countries,with limited generalizability to the Chinese population.In China,a growing number of population-based prospective cohort studies have emerged that have yielded substantial research data on CVD risk factors in the past five years.The research studies have covered biological risk factors(e.g.,blood lipids,blood pressure,blood glucose,adiposity),lifestyle risk factors(e.g.,smoking,alcohol,diet,physical activity),environmental risk factors(e.g.,ambient and indoor air pollution),and risk prediction.This study aimed to systematically review the research progress on CVD risk factors in the Chinese population in the past five years.Prospective studies in China have identified biological,lifestyle,and environmental risk factors for CVD and its main subtypes,along with some protective factors unique to the Chinese(e.g.,spicy food and green tea).This review aimed to provide high-quality evidence for achieving the Outline of Healthy China 2030,developing disease prevention guidelines and measures,and deepening efforts for popularization of health knowledge.Yuanjie Pang Jun Lyu Canqing Yu Yu Guo Liming Lee 2020Global Health Journal2020,4,3:12

9An improved deep forest model for forecast the outdoor atmospheric corrosion rate of low-alloy steels显示文摘The paper proposes a new deep structure model,called Densely Connected Cascade Forest-Weighted K Nearest Neighbors(DCCF-WKNNs),to implement the corrosion data modelling and corrosion knowledgemining.Firstly,we collect 409 outdoor atmospheric corrosion samples of low-alloy steels as experiment datasets.Then,we give the proposed methods process,including random forests-K nearest neighbors(RF-WKNNs)and DCCF-WKNNs.Finally,we use the collected datasets to verify the performance of the proposed method.The results show that compared with commonly used and advanced machine-learning algorithms such as artificial neural network(ANN),support vector regression(SVR),random forests(RF),and cascade forests(cForest),the proposed method can obtain the best prediction results.In addition,the method can predict the corrosion rates with variations of any one single environmental variable,like pH,temperature,relative humidity,SO2,rainfall or Cl-.By this way,the threshold of each variable,upon which the corrosion rate may have a large change,can be further obtained.Yuanjie Zhi Tao Yang Dongmei Fu 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,47,14:9
10Effect of Squeeze Casting on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Hypereutectic Al-xSi Alloys显示文摘The effect of squeeze casting on microstructure and mechanical properties of hypereutectic Al-xS i alloys(x = 15, 17.5, 22 wt%) was investigated in this study. Results show that microstructure of the hypereutectic Al-x Si alloys was obviously improved by squeeze casting. The amount of coarse primary Si phase decreased, while that of ?ne primary α-Al dendrites increased with the increase of squeeze casting pressure. Due to the decrease of coarse primary Si particles, cracking of the matrix was reduced, whilst the?ne microstructure, and mechanical properties of the squeeze casting alloys were improved. Compared with gravity casting alloys, mechanical properties of the hypereutectic Al-xS i alloys solidi?ed at 600 MPa were improved signi?cantly. Hardness of the squeeze casting hypereutectic Al-(15, 17.5, 22 wt%) Si alloys was improved by 15.91%, 12.23%, 17.48%, ultimate tensile strength was improved by 37.85%, 32.27%, 22.74%,and elongation was improved by 55.83%, 167.86%, 126.76%, respectively. 12Genetic variation of Laminaria japonica (Phaeophyta) populations in China as revealed by RAPD markers显示文摘For the population genetics analysis of the naturally grown brown seaweed Laminaria japonica (Laminariales,Phaeophyta) sampled from Dalian,Yantai,Weihai,Rongcheng and Qingdao in China,ten primers were employed to produce 88 bands as revealed by randomly amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers,and all these bands were polymorphic.According to these band patterns,there were 94 distinct phenotypes occurred in 100 samples indicating the high heterozygosity of this kelp.Dalian population samples showed the highest percentage of polymorphism (71.67%),and also the higher diversity estimated on the basis of the Shannon’s index (8.498),suggesting that this population could be chosen as the best resource for genetic breeding.The highest diversity of Yantai population possibly resulted from the introduction of L.longissima used for interspecific cross breeding with L.japonica cultivated in China.From Dalian southwards to Qingdao,the genetic variation of the five populations became less with a decrease in latitude,possibly due to the natural selection especially of high temperature.The genetic distance (Φ ST values) of the five populations was a little significantly correlated with the geographical distance (r=0.496) at P =0.05 by Mantel’s test.Weihai,Rongcheng and Yantai populations were closely grouped genetically together by Neighbor-joining cluster analysis probably in that the dispersal of the kelp by propagules more easily occurring in the range of relatively short distance.The analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) also demonstrated that the relatively higher variation occurred among populations (71.49%) at an extremely significant level (P <0.000 1).All these evidence showed that there was a relatively distinct genetic differentiation among the sampled kelp populations,and L.japonica grown in China was also rather heterozygous in heredity.BI Yanhui HU Yuanjie ZHOU Zhigang 2011Acta Oceanologica Sinica2011,30,2:7
13Measuring high orbital angular momentum of vortex beams with an improved multipoint interferometer显示文摘A multipoint interferometer(MI),uniformly distributed point-like pinholes in a circle,was proposed to measure the orbital angular momentum(OAM)of vortex beams[Phys.Rev.Lett.101,100801(2008)],which can be used for measuring OAM of light from astronomical sources.This is a simple and robust method;however,it is noted that this method is only available for low topological charge because the diffracted intensity patterns for vortex beams with higher OAM will repeat periodically.Here,we propose an improved multipoint interferometer(IMI)for measuring the OAM of an optical vortex with high topological charge.The structure of our IMI is almost the same as the MI,but the size of each pinhole is larger than a point in the MI.Such a small change enables each pinhole to get more phase information from the incident beams;accordingly,the IMI can distinguish any vortex beams with different OAM.We demonstrate its viability both theoretically and experimentally.QI ZHAO MIAO DONG YIHUA BAI YUANJIE YANG 2020Photonics Research2020,8,5:7
14Multiple action sites of ultrasound on Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus显示文摘Ultrasound,is thought to a potential non-thermal sterilization technology in food industry.However,the exact mechanisms underlying microbial inactivation by ultrasound still remain obscure.In this study,the action modes of ultrasound on both Gram-negative and Gram-positive microorganisms were estimated.From colony results,ultrasound acted as an irreversible effect on both Eshcerichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus without sublethal injury.The result in this study also showed that a proportion of bacteria subpopulation suffered from serious damage of intracellular components(e.g.DNA and enzymes)but with intact cell envelopes.We speculated that the inactivated effects of ultrasound on microbes might more than simply completed disruption of cell exteriors.Those microbial cells who had not enter the valid area of ultrasonic cavitation might be injected with free radicals produced by ultrasound and experienced interior injury with intact exterior structure,and others who were in close proximity to the ultrasonic wave field would be immediately and completely disrupted into debris by high power mechanic forces.These findings here try to provide extension for the inactivation mechanisms of ultrasound on microorganisms.Xinyu Liao Jiao Li Yuanjie Suo Shiguo Chen Xingqian Ye Donghong Liu Tian Ding 2018Food Science and Human Wellness2018,7,1:6

18Co-pyrolysis characteristics of typical components of waste plastics in a falling film pyrolysis reactor显示文摘Waste plastics mainly come from MSW and usually exist in the form of mixed plastics. During the co-pyrolysis process of mixed plastics, various plastic components have different physicochemical properties and reaction mechanisms. Considering the high viscosity and low thermal conductivity of molten plastics, a falling film pyrolysis reactor was selected to explore the rapid co-pyrolysis process of typical plastic components(PP, PE and PS).The oil and gas yields and the compositions of pyrolysis products of the three components under different ratios at pyrolysis temperatures were analyzed to explore the co-pyrolysis characteristics of PP, PE, and PS. Making use of a bi-prism, this method is able to perform a 3 D DIC measurement using only a single camera. Thus, the integration level of a BSL 3 D DIC system could be much higher than that of the double-camera3 D DIC system. In this paper, using a small-angle bi-prism and a camera with a longer focal length, a special BSL 3 D DIC system with a long working distance is designed for measurements in extreme environments. The principle of the system is first studied,and practical methods are then proposed for the system set-up and the determination of system parameters. Then, feasibility of the measurement system is verified by out-of-plane rigid-body translation tests.
