A Strigolactone Biosynthesis Gene Contributed to the Green Revolution in Rice显示文摘Plant architecture is a complex agronomic trait and a major factor of crop yield, which is affected by several important hormones.Strigolactones(SLs)are identified as a new class hormoneinhibiting branching in many plant species and have been shown to be involved in various developmental processes.Genetical and chemical modulation of the SL pathway is recognized as a promising approach to modify plant architecture. However, whether and how the genes involved in the SL pathway could be utilized in breeding still remain elusive. Here,we demonstrate that a partial loss-of-function allele of the SL biosynthesis gene,HIGH TILLERING AND DWARF 1/DWARF17(HTD1/D17),which encodes CAROTENOID CLEAVAGE DIOXYGENASE 7(CCD7),increases tiller number and improves grain yield in rice.We found that the HTD1 gene had been widely utilized and co-selected with Semidwarf 1(SD1),both contributing to the improvement of plant architecture in modern rice varieties since the Green Revolution in the 1960s.Understanding how phytohormone pathway genes regulate plant architecture and how they have been utilized and selected in breeding will lay the foundation for developing the rational approaches toward improving crop yield. | Yuexing Wang Lianguang Shang Hong Yu Longjun Zeng Jiang Hu Shen Ni Yuchun Rao Sanfeng Li Jinfang Chu Xiangbing Meng Lei Wang Ping Hu Jijun Yan Shujing Kang Minghao Qu Hai Lin Tao Wang Quan Wang Xingming Hu Hongqi Chen Bing Wang Zhenyu Gao Longbiao Guo Dali Zeng Xudong Zhu Guosheng Xiong Jiayang Li Qian Qian | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,6: | 23
Study on the fragmentation of granite due to the impact of single particle and double particles显示文摘Particle Impact Drilling(PID)is a novel method to improve the rate of penetration(ROP).In order to further improve the performance of PID,an investigation into the effect of single and double particles:(1)diameter;(2)initial velocity;(3)distance;and(4)angle of incidence was undertaken to investigate their effects on broken volume and penetration depth into hard brittle rock. For this purpose, the laboratory experiment of single particle impact rock was employed.Meanwhile, based on the LS-DYNA,a new finite element(FE)simulation of the PID,including single and double particles impact rock, has been presented. The 3-dimensional(3D),aix-symmetric,dynamicexplicit,Lagrangian model has been considered in this simulation. And the Elastic and Holmquist Johnson Cook(HJC)material behaviors have been used for particles and rocks, respectively. The FE simulation results of single particle impacting rock are good agreement with experimental data.Furthermore,in this article the optimal impact parameters, including diameter, initial velocity, distance and the angle of incidence, are obtained in PID. | Yuchun Kuang Wei Lin Xiaofeng Xu Yonghui Liu Kaisong Wu | 2016 | Petroleum2016,2,3: | 4

A rice XANTHINE DEHYDROGENASE gene regulates leaf senescence and response to abiotic stresses显示文摘Xanthine dehydrogenase, a member of the molybdenum enzyme family, participates in purine metabolism and catalyzes the generation of ureides from xanthine and hypoxanthine. However, the mechanisms by which xanthine dehydrogenase affects rice growth and development are poorly understood. In the present study, we identified a mutant with early leaf senescence and reduced tillering that we named early senescence and less-tillering 1(esl1). Map-based cloning revealed that ESL1 encodes a xanthine dehydrogenase, and it was expressed in all tissues. Chlorophyll content was reduced and chloroplast maldevelopment was severe in the esl1 mutant. Mutation of ESL1 led to decreases in allantoin, allantoate, and ABA contents. Further analysis revealed that the accumulation of reactive oxygen species in esl1 resulted in decreased photosynthesis and impaired chloroplast development, along with increased sensitivity to abscisic acid and abiotic stresses. Ttranscriptome analysis showed that the ESL1 mutation altered the expression of genes involved in the photosynthesis process and reactive oxygen species metabolism. Our results suggest that ESL1 is involved in purine metabolism and the induction of leaf senescence. These findings reveal novel molecular mechanisms of ESL1 gene-mediated plant growth and leaf senescence. | Jiangmin Xu Chenyang Pan Han Lin Hanfei Ye Sheng Wang Tao Lu Qianyu Chen Kairu Yang Mei Lu Qian Qian Deyong Ren Yuchun Rao | 2022 | The Crop Journal2022,10,2: | 1

Comparison of genetic impact on growth and wood traits between seedlings and clones from the same plus trees of Pinus koraiensis显示文摘To evaluate the relationships among clones and open pollinated families from the same plus trees and to select elite breeding materials, growth, and wood characteristics of 33-year-old Pinus korainsis clones and families were measured and analyzed. The results show that growth and wood characters varied significantly. The variation due to clonal effects was higher than that of family effects. The ratio of genetic to phenotypic coefficient of variation of clones in growth and wood traits was above 90%,and the repeatability of these characteristics was more than 0.8,whereas the ratio of genetic to phenotypic coefficient of variation of families was above 90%.The broad-sense heritability of all characteristics exceeded 0.4,and the narrow-sense family heritability of growth traits was less than 0.3.Growth characteristics were positively correlated with each other, but most wood properties were weakly correlated in both clones and families.Fiber length and width were positively correlated between clones and families.Using the membership function method, eleven clones and four families were selected as superior material for improved diameter growth and wood production, and two families from clonal and open-pollinated trees showed consistently better performance.Generally, selection of the best clones is an effective alternative to deployment of families as the repeatability estimates from clonal trees were higher than narrow-sense heritability estimates from open pollinated families. The results provide valuable insight for improving P.koraiensis breeding programs and subsequent genetic improvement. | Xiaoting Liu Zhimin Lu Jingui Wu Yuchun Yang Shuchun Li Lin Wu Qingshan Xu Qi Yu Li Zhao Jian Sun Wei Zheng Mulualem Tigabu Xiyang Zhao | 2023 | Journal of Forestry Research2023,34,2: | 0
Effect of the Reaction Field on Molecular Forces and Torques Revealed by an Image-Charge Solvation Model显示文摘We recently developed the Image-Charge Solvation Model(ICSM),which is an explicit/implicit hybrid model to accurately account for long-range electrostatic forces in molecular dynamics simulations[Lin et al.,J.Chem.Phys.,131,154103,2009].The ICSM has a productive spherical volume within the simulation cell for which key physical properties of bulk water are reproduced, such as density, radial distribution function, diffusion constants and dielectric properties.Although the reaction field(RF)is essential,it typically accounts for less than 2% of the total electrostatic force on a water molecule. This observation motivates investigating further the role of the RF within the ICSM.In this report we focus on distributions of forces and torques on water molecules as a function of distance from the origin and make extensive tests over a range of model parameters where Coulomb forces are decomposed into direct interactions from waters modeled explicitly and the RF.Molecular torques due to the RF typically account for 20% of the total torque, revealing why the RF plays an important role in the dielectric properties of simulated water. Moreover,it becomes clear that the buffer layer in the ICSM is essential to mitigate artifacts caused by the discontinuous change in dielectric constants at the explicit/implicit interface. | Wei Song Yuchun Lin Andrij Baumketner Shaozhong Deng Wei Cai Donald JJacobs | 2013 | Communications in Computational Physics2013,13,1: | 0
Comparative coherence between layered and traditional semiconductors: unique opportunities for heterogeneous integration显示文摘As Moore’s law deteriorates, the research and development of new materials system are crucial for transitioning into the post Moore era.Traditional semiconductor materials, such as silicon, have served as the cornerstone of modern technologies for over half a century. This has been due to extensive research and engineering on new techniques to continuously enrich silicon-based materials system and, subsequently,to develop better performed silicon-based devices.Meanwhile,in the emerging post Moore era, layered semiconductor materials, such as transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs),have garnered considerable research interest due to their unique electronic and optoelectronic properties, which hold great promise for powering the new era of next generation electronics. As a result, techniques for engineering the properties of layered semiconductors have expanded the possibilities of layered semiconductor-based devices. However, there remain significant limitations in the synthesis and engineering of layered semiconductors, impeding the utilization of layered semiconductor-based devices for mass applications. As a practical alternative, heterogeneous integration between layered and traditional semiconductors provides valuable opportunities to combine the distinctive properties of layered semiconductors with well-developed traditional semiconductors materials system. Here,we provide an overview of the comparative coherence between layered and traditional semiconductors, starting with TMDs as the representation of layered semiconductors. We highlight the meaningful opportunities presented by the heterogeneous integration of layered semiconductors with traditional semiconductors, representing an optimal strategy poised to propel the emerging semiconductor research community and chip industry towards unprecedented advancements in the coming decades. | Zhuofan Chen Xiaonan Deng Simian Zhang Yuqi Wang Yifei Wu Shengxian Ke Junshang Zhang Fucheng Liu Jianing Liu Yingjie Liu Yuchun Lin Andrew Hanna Zhengcao Li Chen Wang | 2023 | International Journal of Extreme Manufacturing2023,5,4: | 0
Multiscale dynamical cross-talk in zeolite-catalyzed methanol and dimethyl ether conversions显示文摘Establishing a comprehensive understanding of the dynamical multiscale diffusion and reaction process is crucial for zeolite shape-selective catalysis and is urgently demanded in academia and industry. So far, diffusion and reaction for methanol and dimethyl ether(DME)conversions have usually been studied separately and focused on a single scale.Herein,we decipher the dynamical molecular diffusion and reaction process for methanol and DME conversions within the zeolite material evolving with time,at multiple scales, from the scale of molecules to single catalyst crystal and catalyst ensemble.Microscopic intracrystalline diffusivity is successfully decoupled from the macroscopic experiments and verified by molecular dynamics simulation.Spatiotemporal analyses of the confined carbonaceous species allow us to track the migratory reaction fronts in a single catalyst crystal and the catalyst ensemble. The constrained diffusion of DME relative to methanol alleviates the high local chemical potential of the reactant by attenuating its local enrichment, enhancing the utilization efficiency of the inner active sites of the catalyst crystal. In this context, the dynamical cross-talk behaviors of material, diffusion and reaction occurring at multiple scales is uncovered.Zeolite catalysis not only reflects the reaction characteristics of heterogeneous catalysis, but also provides enhanced, moderate or suppressed local reaction kinetics through the special catalytic micro-environment,which leads to the heterogeneity of diffusion and reaction at multiple scales, thereby realizing efficient and shape-selective catalysis. | Shanfan Lin Yuchun Zhi Zhiqiang Liu Jiamin Yuan Wenjuan Liu Wenna Zhang Zhaochao Xu Anmin Zheng Yingxu Wei Zhongmin Liu | 2022 | National Science Review2022,9,9: | 0
Coking and decoking chemistry for resource utilization of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)and low-carbon process显示文摘Low-carbon process for resource utilization of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)in zeolitecatalyzed processes, geared to carbon neutrality-a prominent trend throughout human activities, has been bottlenecked by the lack of a complete mechanistic understanding of coking and decoking chemistry, involving the speciation and molecular evolution of PAHs,the plethora of which causes catalyst deactivation and forces regeneration, rendering significant CO_(2) emission.Herein,by exploiting the high-resolution matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry(MALDI FT-ICR MS),we unveil the missing fingerprints of the mechanistic pathways for both formation and decomposition of cross-linked cage-passing PAHs for SAPO-34-catalyzed,industrially relevant methanol-to-olefins(MTO)as a model reaction.Notable is the molecule-resolved symmetrical signature:their speciation originates exclusively from the direct coupling of in-cage hydrocarbon pool(HCP)species, whereas water-promoted decomposition of cage-passing PAHs initiates with selective cracking of inter-cage local structures at 8-rings followed by deep aromatic steam reforming.Molecular deciphering the reversibly dynamic evolution trajectory(fate)of full-spectrum aromatic hydrocarbons and fulfilling the real-time quantitative carbon resource footprints advance the fundamental knowledge of deactivation and regeneration phenomena(decay and recovery motifs of autocatalysis)and disclose the underlying mechanisms of especially the chemistry of coking and decoking in zeolite catalysis. The positive yet divergent roles of water in these two processes are disentangled. These unprecedented insights ultimately lead us to a steam regeneration strategy with valuable CO and H_(2) as main products, negligible CO_(2) emission in steam reforming and full catalyst activity recovery, which further proves feasible in other important chemical processes, promising to be a sustainable and potent approach that contributes to carbon-neutral chemical industry. | Nan Wang Li Wang Yuchun Zhi Jingfeng Han Chengwei Zhang Xinqiang Wu Jinling Zhang Linying Wang Benhan Fan Shutao Xu Yijun Zheng Shanfan Lin Renan Wu Yingxu Wei Zhongmin Liu | 2023 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2023,,1: | 0
