| 4 | Catalytic transfer hydrogenation of levulinate ester intoγ-valerolactone over ternary Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst显示文摘An effective catalytic transfer hydrogenation (CTH) process of bio-based levulinate esters into γ-valerolactone (GVL) was explored over ternary Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst which was prepared by coprecipitation method and could be sustainably used. As a result, quantitative conversion of ethyl levulinate (EL) and 99.0% yield of GVL were obtained in the CTH process using i-PrOH as hydrogen donor. The Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst with high-surface-area could be reused at least four times without the loss of catalytic activity. Furthermore, the structure and properties of Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst was characterized through XRD, BET, SEM, TEM and H2-TPR. | 5 | Interface-directed epitaxially growing nickle ensembles as efficient catalysts in dry reforming of methane显示文摘Supported nickel catalysts are promising candidates for dry reforming of methane, but agglomeration of Ni^(0) and coke deposition hinder the industrial applications. Herein, we report a novel interface-directed synthetic approach to construct distinct metal ensembles by carefully tuning the compositions of the carriers. A Zr-Mn-Zn ternary oxide-supported Ni catalyst, together with the respective binary oxide-supported analogues, was synthesized by adopting a sequential co-precipitation and wetness impregnation method. Combined characterization techniques identify distinct catalyst models, including (i) conventional NiO nanoparticles with different sizes on Zr-Mn and Zr-Zn, and (ii) epitaxially growing NiO ensembles of a few nanometers thickness at the periphery of ZnO_(x) particles. These catalysts exhibit divergent responses in the catalytic testing, with the ternary oxide system significantly outperforming the binary analogues. The strong electronic interactions between Mn-Ni increase Ni dispersion and the activity while the stability is strengthened upon Zn addition. Both high activity, high selectivity, and remarkable stability are attained upon co-adding Mn and Zn. | 7 | Identifying and annotating human bifunctional RNAs reveals their versatile functions显示文摘Bifunctional RNAs that possess both protein-coding and noncoding functional properties were less explored and poorly understood. Here we systematically explored the characteristics and functions of such human bifunctional RNAs by integrating tandem mass spectrometry and RNA-seq data. We first constructed a pipeline to identify and annotate bifunctional RNAs,leading to the characterization of 132 high-confidence bifunctional RNAs. Our analyses indicate that bifunctional RNAs may be involved in human embryonic development and can be functional in diverse tissues. Moreover, bifunctional RNAs could interact with multiple miRNAs and RNA-binding proteins to exert their corresponding roles. Bifunctional RNAs may also function as competing endogenous RNAs to regulate the expression of many genes by competing for common targeting miRNAs. Finally,somatic mutations of diverse carcinomas may generate harmful effect on corresponding bifunctional RNAs. | 11 | 3D collagen matrices modulate the transcriptional trajectory of bone marrow hematopoietic progenitors into macrophage lineage commitment显示文摘Physical signals provided by the extracellular matrix(ECM)are key microenvironmental parameters for the fate decision of hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells(HSPC)in bone marrow.Insights into cell-ECM interactions are critical for advancing HSC-based tissue engineering.Herein,we employed collagen hydrogels and collagen-alginate hydrogels of defined stiffness to study the behaviors of hematopoietic progenitor cells(HPCs).Three-dimensional(3D)collagen hydrogels with a stiffness of 45 Pa were found to promote HPC maintenance and colony formation of monocyte/macrophage progenitors.Using single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq),we also characterized the comprehensive transcriptional profiles of cells randomly selected from two-dimensional(2D)and 3D hydrogels.A distinct maturation trajectory from HPCs into macrophages within the 3D microenvironment was revealed by these results.3D-derived macrophages expressed high levels of various cytokines and chemokines,such as Saa3,Cxcl2,Socs3 and Tnf.Furthermore,enhanced communication between 3D-macrophages and other hematopoietic clusters based on ligand-repair interactions was demonstrated through bioinformatic analyses.Our research underlines the regulatory role of matrix-dimensionality in HPC differentiation and therefore probably be applied to the generation of specialized macrophages. | Pan Zhang Linmu Xu Jingsong Gao Guangkui Xu Yanping Song Guang Li Jingjing Ren Yunjie Zhang Cheng Yang Yu Zhang Ruiheng Xie Nu Zhang Hui Yang | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,4: | 0 |

| 13 | Accelerated Ring-Opening Polymerization of α-Amino Acid N-Carboxyanhydride via Inorganic Nano-initiators显示文摘While the accelerated polymerization of N-carboxyanhydrides (NCAs) has been utilized to synthesize versatile polypeptide materials in an efficient manner with minimized side reactions, the preparation of polypeptide-based inorganic/organic hybrid materials with the acceleration strategy remained largely unexplored. Herein, we report the accelerated ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of NCAs mediated by amine-modified inorganic nano-initiators, such as mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN-NH2), which is driven by the cooperative effect of the neighboring α-helical polypeptide chains in a dichloromethane (DCM)/water biphasic system. Well-defined nano-hybrids were prepared within 15 min from non-purified NCA monomers, through in situ purification and subsequent ultrafast polymerization process. NCAs can be rapidly initiated by amino groups of MSN uniformly dispersed at the interface of DCM and water, and subsequently formed the well-defined polypeptides within 15 min. The prepared inorganic/organic nano-hybrid with MSN as the core and polypeptide as the shell adopted spherical morphology and uniform size distribution due to the excellent controllability of ROP. Besides, this system is also suitable for a variety of NCAs and inorganic nano-initiators.
