| 1 | Characteristics of Dried Soil Layers Under Apple Orchards of Different Ages and Their Applications in Soil Water Managements on the Loess Plateau of China显示文摘Negative soil water balance(i.e., water input < water output) can lead to soil desiccation and subsequently the occurrence of a dried soil layer(DSL). The DSLs are generally studied at a specific sampling depth(e.g., 500 cm), and the actual extent of DSLs remains unknown due to the challenge of collecting deep soil samples. To investigate the characteristics of actual DSLs under different ages of apple orchards and ascertain the optimal age of apple orchards for avoiding/controlling the formation of DSLs, soil samples were collected to a depth of 1 800 cm under apple orchards of different ages in Changwu on the Loess Plateau of China. As the ages increased, soil water content(SWC) and mean SWC in DSLs showed an overall decreasing trend, whereas while DSL thickness and the quantity of water deficit(QWD) in DSLs demonstrated an increasing trend. The DSL was the thickest(1 600 cm) under the 17-year-old orchard, the forming velocity of DSL thickness was the highest at the apple tree growth stage of 9–17 years(168 cm year-1), and the highest increasing velocity of QWD(-181 mm year-1) was also observed at this stage. The thickness of DSL was significantly correlated with growth age and root depth of apple trees(r > 0.88), whereas the QWD and mean SWC in DSLs were found to have no correlation with them. The optimal age of apple orchards for avoiding/controlling the formation of DSLs was about 9 years. | 3 | Characteristics of the genetic mineralogy of pyrite and its significance for prospecting in the Denggezhuang gold deposit,Jiaodong Peninsula,China显示文摘This paper reports the variation rules for the typomorphic parameters of the pyrite and the gold enrichment rules of the Denggezhuang quartz vein gold deposit at a large-depth scale,providing the mineral signs for deep prospecting prediction through detailed study of the characteristics of crystal' habits,chemical composition,the thermoelectricity of pyrites,and mineralogical mapping.This paper primarily discusses the correlation between the mineralization intensity and the space-time evolution of the mineralogical parameters,clarifies the physicochemical conditions during gold mineralization,and provides information useful for deep mineralization prediction.We demonstrate that the crystal habits of the pyrites are very complex,primarily occurring as {100},{210},and their combinate form.{210} and {100}+{210} have positive correlations with gold mineralization,and {100}+{210} therefore can be useful for locating rich ore segments.The composition of pyrites is characteristically poor in S and rich in As.Their typical trace elements are composed of Mo,As,Pb,Cu,Bi,Zn,Au,Co,Se,Sb,Ag,Ni,Cr,and Te.The average contents of trace elements in pyrites from various stages show that the crystallizing temperature gradually decreased from an early stage to the metallogenic episodes.The precipitation and accumulation of Au and Ag occur primarily in the quartz-pyrite stage(III) and the polymetal minerals stage(IV).The occurrence rate of P-type pyrites(P(%)) is 83.52%.There is a larger dispersion of the thermoelectrical coefficient of pyrite(α) in the Denggezhuang gold deposit than in other deposits in the Jiaodong Peninsula.The electrical conductivity assemblage of pyrites from I to V is characterized by P≥N→P>N→P>>N→P>>N→P≥N,which is usually considered beneficial for mineralization.The relative contents of As+Sb+Se+Te and Co+Ni are closely correlated to P-type and N-type average values and their occurrence rates.According to the crystallizing temperature of pyrite,the mineralization intensity,and the denudation degree,the mineralization temperature of the Denggezhuang gold deposit is in the range of 150–322℃ and is of a medium-low temperature.The orebody has already become denuded to the top-middle of the orebody,and the size of the orebody is larger than 900 m.Based on the vertical zoning of the thermoelectrical coefficients of pyrites and P-type pyrite mapping,it is suggested that the segment between ?425 and ?800 m may have exploration potential to the northeast of line 94 of the No.I2-2 orebody. | XUE JianLing LI ShengRong SUN WenYan ZHANG YunQiang ZHANG Xu | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,4: | 12 |
| 4 | Aging behavior and fatigue crack propagation of high Zn-containing Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys with zinc variation显示文摘In the present work, the influence of two-step aging treatments on hardness, electrical conductivity and mechanical properties of two high Zn-containing Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys with zinc content variation was investigated and the detailed T76 aging parameters were proposed. The microstructure of the precipitates were studied by transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HREM) and then quantitatively investigated with the aid of an image analysis. The fatigue performances were researched by the fatigue crack propagation(FCP) rate test and fracture morphology was observed with scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The results show that the matrix precipitate size distributions of both alloys had significant difference, so as to fatigue crack propagation rates and fracture appearance. The shear and bypass mechanisms of dislocation-precipitate interactions were employed to explain the difference. Among the shearable precipitates, the proportion of larger size precipitates for the higher zinc content alloy is bigger than that for the lower zinc content alloy. The coarse shearable precipitates hinder the propagation of the fatigue cracks, leading to inferior FCP rate. | 12 | Estimating Fraction of Photosynthetically Active Radiation of Corn with Vegetation Indices and Neural Network from Hyperspectral Data显示文摘The fraction of photosynthetically active radiation(FPAR) is a key variable in the assessment of vegetation productivity and land ecosystem carbon cycles.Based on ground-measured corn hyperspectral reflectance and FPAR data over Northeast China,the correlations between corn-canopy FPAR and hyperspectral reflectance were analyzed,and the FPAR estimation performances using vegetation index(VI) and neural network(NN) methods with different two-band-combination hyperspectral reflectance were investigated.The results indicated that the corncanopy FPAR retained almost a constant value in an entire day.The negative correlations between FPAR and visible and shortwave infrared reflectance(SWIR) bands are stronger than the positive correlations between FPAR and near-infrared band reflectance(NIR).For the six VIs,the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI) and simple ratio(SR) performed best for estimating corn FPAR(the maximum R2 of 0.8849 and 0.8852,respectively).However,the NN method esti-mated results(the maximum R2 is 0.9417) were obviously better than all of the VIs.For NN method,the two-band combinations showing the best corn FPAR estimation performances were from the NIR and visible bands;for VIs,however,they were from the SWIR and NIR bands.As for both the methods,the SWIR band performed exceptionally well for corn FPAR estimation.This may be attributable to the fact that the reflectance of the SWIR band were strongly controlled by leaf water content,which is a key component of corn photosynthesis and greatly affects the absorption of photosynthetically active radiation(APAR),and makes further impact on corn-canopy FPAR. | YANG Fei ZHU Yunqiang ZHANG Jiahua YAO Zuofang | 2012 | Chinese Geographical Science2012,22,1: | 2 |
