2Soybean hairy roots produced in vitro by Agrobacterium rhizogenes-mediated transformation显示文摘Soybean is one of the world's most important oil and protein crops. Efficient transformation is a key factor for the improvement of soybean by genetic modification. We describe an optimized protocol for the Agrobacterium rhizogenes-mediated transformation of soybean and the induction of hairy root development in vitro. Cotyledons with 0.5-cm hypocotyls were cut from 5-day-old seedlings and used as explants. After infection and co-cultivation,hairy roots were produced in induction culture medium after 10–12 days. Using this method, 90%–99% of the infected explants of five different cultivars produced hairy roots within one month. Observations using reporter constructs showed that 30%–60% of the hairy roots induced were transformed. 3H7N9 virus infection triggers lethal cytokine storm by activating gasdermin E-mediated pyroptosis of lung alveolar epithelial cells显示文摘The H7N9 influenza virus emerged in China in 2013,causing more than 1560 human infections,39% of which were fatal.A ‘cytokine storm’ in the lungs of H7N9 patients has been linked to a poor prognosis and death;however,the underlying mechanism that triggers the cytokine storm is unknown.Here,we found that efficient replication of the H7N9 virus in mouse lungs activates gasdermin E(GSDME)-mediated pyroptosis in alveolar epithelial cells,and that the released cytosolic contents then trigger a cytokine storm.Knockout of Gsdme switched the manner of death of A549 and human primary alveolar epithelial cells from pyroptosis to apoptosis upon H7N9 virus infection,and Gsdme knockout mice survived H7N9 virus lethal infection.Our findings reveal that GSDME activation is a key and unique mechanism for the pulmonary cytokine storm and lethal outcome of H7N9 virus infection and thus opens a new door for the development of antivirals against the H7N9 virus.Xiaopeng Wan Jiqing Li Yupeng Wang Xiaofei Yu Xijun He Jianzhong Shi Guohua Deng Xianying Zeng Guobin Tian Yanbing Li Yongping Jiang Yuntao Guan Chengjun Li Feng Shao Hualan Chen 2022National Science Review2022,9,1:3
4TiN/BN composite with excellent thermal stability for efciency microwave absorption in wide temperature spectrum显示文摘High-efficiency and temperature-insensitive microwave absorbing materials(MAMs) are ideal for hightemperature electromagnetic attenuation.Herein,the titanium nitride/boron nitride(TiN/BN) composite with TiN as the loss unit and BN as the impedance matching unit has been constructed by the in-situ synthesis method.The insulating BN not only effectively regulates and optimizes the conductivity and impedance matching of the material but also imparts steady cyclic microwave absorption properties.The steady dielectric loss ensures that TiN/BN composite has robust high-temperature absorption properties at X-band,with a minimum reflection loss(RL_(min)) of-16.74 dB at 873 K and an effective absorption bandwidth(EAB) of 3.26 GHz in the temperature range of 293-873 K.Compared with the TiN/SiO2absorbers with a single system,the TiN/BN/SiO2composite keeps reliable high temperature absorbing properties at873 K.This work confirms that wave-transparent materials for dielectric property modulation can resolve poor temperature stability of effective absorption and non-reusability for high-temperature absorbing materials,providing inspirations for designing efficiency high-temperature microwave absorbers.Yupeng Shi Dan Li Haoxu Si Zhiyang Jiang Mengyuan Li Chunhong Gong 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,35:3
5CNTs/TiO_2 composites and its electrochemical properties after UV light irradiation显示文摘Due to the unique structure and special physical and chemical properties, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have potential applications in supercapacitors. Recently, CNTs and their composites as a kind of supercapacitor electrode material have been made many achievements. In this paper, a CNTs/TiO2 composite was prepared successfully with hydrothermal method, and was used as a supercapacitor electrode material. After the tests on surface chemistry and electrochemical property, it was found that: (1) the capacitance of the CNTs/TiO2 composite electrode increased by 56%, compared with pure CNTs electrode, (2) after UV light irradiation pretreatment, due to the special photoelectric effect of TiO2 which improves the interfacial property and electrochemical property of the composite electrode, the capacitance further increased by 53% when compared with the electrode without the pretreatment, and meanwhile, the cycle life also increased significantly, i.e., the capacitance was up to 97%, after 100 cycles of charge and discharge, (3) due to the improvement of the interfacial property, the ion transport in the composite electrode became smoother, and the pore utilization was also effectively enhanced during high-current charge and discharge, and (4) due to the generation of a large amount of oxygen-containing groups on the TiO 2 surface after UV pretreatment, the CNTs/TiO2 composite electrode earned extra large pseudo capacitance, and therefore the capacitance of the composite electrode was further increased. 6Association of systemic inflammation and body mass index with survival in patients with resectable gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinomas显示文摘Objective:The systemic inflammation index and body mass index(BMI)are easily accessible markers that can predict mortality.However,the prognostic value of the combined use of these two markers remains unclear.The goal of this study was therefore to evaluate the association of these markers with outcomes based on a large cohort of patients with gastric cancer.Methods:A total of 2,542 consecutive patients undergoing radical surgery for gastric or gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma between 2009 and 2014 were included.Systemic inflammation was quantified by the preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR).High systemic inflammation was defined as NLR≥3,and underweight was defined as BMI<18.5 kg/m2.Results:Among 2,542 patients,NLR≥3 and underweight were common[627(25%)and 349(14%),respectively].In the entire cohort,NLR≥3 or underweight independently predicted overall survival(OS)[hazard ratio(HR):1.236,95%confidence interval(95%CI):1.069–1.430;and HR:1.600,95%CI:1.350–1.897,respectively]and recurrence-free survival(RFS)(HR:1.230,95%CI:1.054–1.434;and HR:1.658,95%CI:1.389–1.979,respectively).Patients with both NLR≥3 and underweight(vs.neither)had much worse OS(HR:2.445,95%CI:1.853–3.225)and RFS(HR:2.405,95%CI:1.802–3.209).Furthermore,we observed similar results in subgroup analyses according to pathological stage,age,and postoperative chemotherapy.Conclusions:Our results showed that preoperative elevated NLR and decreased BMI had a significant negative effect on survival.Underweight combined with severe inflammation could enhance prognostication.Taking active therapeutic measures to reduce inflammation and increase nutrition may help improve outcomes.Xianchun Gao Yanan Pan Weili Han Caie Hu Chenchen Wang Ling Chen Yong Guo Yupeng Shi Yan Pan Huahong Xie Liping Yao Jianjun Yang Jianyong Zheng Xiaohua Li Xiaonan Liu Liu Hong Jipeng Li Mengbin Li Gang Ji Zengshan Li Jielai Xia Qingchuan Zhao Daiming Fan Kaichun Wu Yongzhan Nie 2021Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,1:2

8SYNTHESIS OF STRONTIUM-AND MAGNESIUM-DOPED LANTHANUM GALLATE BY GLYCINE-NITRATE COMBUSTION METHOD显示文摘Sr- and Mg-doped lanthanum gallate powders with the composition of La0.85Sr0.15Ga0.85Mg0.15O2.85 were synthesized by a glycine-nitrate combustion method. Powders prepared under different fuel combustion conditions were investigated by XRD and TEM. 9Microwave-assisted synthesis of colorimetric and fluorometric dual-functional hybrid carbon nanodots for Fe^(3+) detection and bioimaging显示文摘Carbon nanodots(CDs) based fluorescent nanoprobes have recently drawn much attention in chemo-/bio-sensing and bioimaging.However,it is still challenging to integrate the colorimetric and fluorometric dual readouts into a single CD.Herein,novel hybrid CDs(HCDs) are prepared by a simple microwave-assisted reaction of citric acid(CA),branched polyethyleneimine(BPEI) and potassium thiocyanate(KSCN).As-prepared HCDs show extraordinary properties,including excitation-dependent emission,satisfactory fluorescence quantum yield(46.8%),excellent biocompatibility and optical stability.Significantly,the fluorescence intensity at 450 nm exhibits linear correlation over the Fe^(3+)concentration from 1 mmol/L to 150 mmol/L with a detection limit(LOD) of 52 nmol/L.Meanwhile,the solution color changes from colorless to orange,and the absorbance at 460 nm increased linearly with Fe^(3+)concentration ranging from 0.02 mmol/L to 5 mmol/L(LOD:3.4 mmol/L).All the evidence illustrates that the HCDs can be conditioned for specific Fe^(3+)sensing with colorimetric and fluorometric dual readouts,which has also been verified with paper-based microchips.The possible mechanism is attributed to the specific interactions between surface functional groups on the HCDs and Fe^(3+).Additionally,the HCDs are successfully applied in sensing Fe^(3+)in wastewater and living cells,demonstrating its potential applications in future environment monitoring and disease diagnosis.Yupeng Shi Jingjing Liu Yong Zhang Jianfeng Bao Jingliang Cheng Changqing Yi 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,10:1
10Preparation and investigation of a novel iodine-based visible polyvinyl alcohol embolization material显示文摘Polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) embolization particles, currently used in clinical practice, have good expansibility and are capable of permanent embolization. However, the lack of adhesion of embolization particles contributes to facilitated recanalization after embolization, while the lack of visualization facilitates misembolization. At present, embolization materials with good expansion, adhesion, and visualization potential are urgently required in clinical practice. Here, we report the development of PVA/gelatin/iohexol(I) fiber blocks as a novel embolization material for liver embolization in rats. In our work, electrospun PVA/gelatin/I nanofibrous mats were first prepared, homogenized, centrifuged in a gradient manner, and freeze-dried to obtain fiber blocks(fiber diameter =296.2 ± 74.23 nm, length 99.6 ± 17.0 μm × width 46.9 ± 13.3 μm). The fiber blocks exhibited excellent cytocompatibility and hemocompatibility. Fiber blocks with a PVA/gelatin/I mass ratio of 8:2:10 were selected due to their excellent expansibility and adhesive properties. The PVA/gelatin/I fiber blocks display excellent liver embolic effects and computed tomography(CT) imaging potential due to a combination of the following characteristics: expansibility of PVA and gelatin, adhesive property of gelatin, and CT imaging potential of I. 14Integrated modeling of spacecraft relative motion dynamics using dual quaternion显示文摘To realize high accurate control of relative position and attitude between two spacecrafts, the coupling between position and attitude must be fully considered and a more precise model should be established. This paper breaks the traditional divide and conquer idea, and uses a mathematical tool, namely dual quaternion to establish the integrated 6 degree-of-freedom(6-DOF) model of relative position and attitude, which describes the coupled relative motion in a compact and efficient form and needs less information of the target. Considering the complex operation rules and the unclarity of the current relative motion model in dual quaternion, necessary mathematical foundations are given at first, followed by clear and detailed modeling process and analysis. Finally a generalized proportion-derivative(PD) controller law is designed. 19Recovering rare earth elements via immobilized red algae from ammonium-rich wastewater显示文摘Biotreatment of acidic rare earth mining wastewater via acidophilic living organisms is a promising approach owing to their high tolerance to high concentrations of rare earth elements(REEs);however,simultaneous removal of both REEs and ammonium is generally hindered since most acidophilic organisms are positively charged.Accordingly,immobilization of acidophilic Galdieria sulphuraria(G.sulphuraria)by calcium alginate to improve its affinity to positively charged REEs has been used for simultaneous bioremoval of REEs and ammonium.The results indicate that 97.19%,96.19%,and 98.87%of La,Y,and Sm,respectively,are removed by G.sulphuraria beads(GS-BDs).The adsorption of REEs by calcium alginate beads(BDs)and GS-BDs is well fitted by both pseudo first-order(PFO)and pseudo second-order(PSO)kinetic models,implying that adsorption of REEs involves both physical adsorption caused by affinity of functional groups such as-COO-and -OH and chemical adsorption based on ion exchange of Ca^(2+) with REEs.Notably,GS-BDs exhibit high tolerance to La,Y,and Sm with maximum removal efficiencies of 97.9%,96.6%,and 99.1%,respectively.Furthermore,the ammonium removal efficiency of GS-BDs is higher than that of free G.sulphuraria cells at an initial ammonium concentration of 100 mg L^(-1),while the efficiency decreases when initial concentration of ammonium is higher than 150 mg L^(-1).Last,small size of GS-BDs favors ammonium removal because of their lower mass transfer resistance.This study achieves simultaneous removal of REEs and ammonium from acidic mining drainage,providing a potential strategy for biotreatment of REE tailing wastewater.Yabo Sun Tao Lu Yali Pan Menghan Shi Dan Ding Zhiwen Ma Jiuyi Liu Yupeng Yuan Ling Fei Yingqiang Sun 2022Environmental Science and Ecotechnology2022,,4:0
