1Differential transcription-activating capability of NS1 proteins from different influenza virus subtypes expressed in yeast显示文摘Influenza A virus NS1 protein is an important regulatory factor with multiple functions and contributes greatly to viral pathogenesis.In the present study,transcription-activating potential of NS1 from different influenza A virus subtypes was examined in yeast two-hybrid system.The bait vectors contain-ing different NS1 genes,along with an empty prey vector,were transformed into yeast AH109(for growth assay on QDO plate and α-galactosidase assay),and Y187(for β-galactosidase assay).AH109 transformants with NS1 gene from H1N1,H5N1,and H9N2 viruses grew vigorously on the QDO plate and secreted high level of α-galactosidase.Also,Y187 bearing the above NS1 genes exhibited en-hanced β-galactosidase activity.Nevertheless,H3N2-NS1-transformed AH109 and Y187 yeasts did not grow on QDO plate and secrete β-galactosidase,respectively.These findings denote the remarkable variation in NS1 proteins from different influenza A virus subtypes on the transcription-stimulating capability in yeast.LI WeiZhong,WANG GeFei,ZENG Jun,ZHANG DanGui,ZHANG Heng,CHEN XiaoXuan,CHEN YouYing & Li KangSheng Department of Microbiology and Immunology,Shantou University Medical College,Shantou 515041,China 2009Science China(Life Sciences)2009,52,6:2
2Simulation investigations on the marble deterioration by sulphur dioxide显示文摘This paper deals with investigations on corrosion of marble SO2. We have simulated oxidation of SO2 by photochemical process in the atmosphere. The experiments indicate that formation of SO3 aerosols is related to the concentration of SO2, the UV light intensity, the time of irradiation and the humidity of the air. The corrosion feature of surfaces of the marble and the depth profiles of sulphur were obtained by SEM (Scanning electron microscope), EDXA (Energy-dispersive X-ray analyzer) and SIMS (Secondary ion mass spectrometer). 3Ginkgo biloba extract protects against depression-like behavior in mice through regulating gut microbial bile acid metabolism显示文摘Depression is a mental disorder with high morbidity,disability and relapse rates.Ginkgo biloba extract(GBE),a traditional Chinese medicine,has a long history of clinical application in the treatment of cerebral and mental disorders,but the key mechanism remains incompletely understood.Here we showed that GEB exerted anti-depressant effect in mice through regulating gut microbial metabolism.GBE protected against unpredictable mild stress(UMS)-induced despair,anxiety-like and social avoidance behavior in mice without sufficient brain distribution.Fecal microbiome transplantation transmitted,while antibiotic cocktail abrogated the protective effect of GBE.Spatiotemporal bacterial profiling and metabolomics assay revealed a potential involvement of Parasutterella excrementihominis and the bile acid metabolite ursodeoxycholic acid(UDCA)in the effect of GBE.UDCA administration induced depression-like behavior in mice.Together,these findings suggest that GBE acts on gut microbiome-modulated bile acid metabolism to alleviate stress-induced depression.ZHOU Junchi FAN Qilin CAI Xiaoying ZHANG Youying HOU Yuanlong CAO Shuqi LIZiguang FENG Mengzhen WANG Qingqing ZHANG Jianbing WANG Guangi ZHENG Xiao HAO Haiping 2023Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2023,21,10:0
