2Boron neutron capture therapy for malignant melanoma: first clinical case report in China显示文摘A phase Ⅰ/Ⅱ clinical trial for treating malignant melanoma by boron neutron capture therapy(BNCT) was designed to evaluate whether the world's first in-hospital neutron irradiator(IHNI) was qualified for BNCT. In this clinical trial planning to enroll 30 patients, the first case was treated on August 19, 2014. We present the protocol of this clinical trial, the treating procedure, and the clinical outcome of this first case. Only grade 2 acute radiation injury was observed during the first four weeks after BNCT and the injury healed after treatment. No late radiation injury was found during the 24-month follow-up. 3Reaction environment self-modification on low-coordination Ni^(2+)octahedra atomic interface for superior electrocatalytic overall water splitting显示文摘Large scale synthesis of high-efficiency bifunctional electrocatalyst based on cost-effective and earth-abundant transition metal for overall water splitting in the alkaline environment is indispensable for renewable energy conversion.In this regard,meticulous design of active sites and probing their catalytic mechanism on both cathode and anode with different reaction environment at molecular-scale are vitally necessary.Herein,a coordination environment inheriting strategy is presented for designing low-coordination Ni^(2+)octahedra(L-Ni-8)atomic interface at a high concentration(4.6 at.%).Advanced spectroscopic techniques and theoretical calculations reveal that the self-matching electron delocalization and localization state at L-Ni-8 atomic interface enable an ideal reaction environment at both cathode and anode.To improve the efficiency of using the self-modification reaction environment at L-Ni-8,all of the structural features,including high atom economy,mass transfer,and electron transfer,are integrated together from atomic-scale to macro-scale.At high current density of 500 mA/cm2,the samples synthesized at gram-scale can deliver low hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)overpotentials of 262 and 348 mV,respectively.Kaian Sun Lei Zhao Lingyou Zeng Shoujie Liu Houyu Zhu Yanpeng Li Zheng Chen Zewen Zhuang Zhaoling Li Zhi Liu Dongwei Cao Jinchong Zhao Yunqi Liu Yuan Pan Chen Chen 2020Nano Research2020,13,11:12
4Antibiotics in two municipal sewage treatment plants in Sri Lanka:Occurrence,consumption and removal efficiency显示文摘Most of the monitoring data on the occurrence of antibiotics in sewage treatment plants(STPs)have been reported from Europe,North America and some countries in Northeast Asia,while very limited data can be found in Southeast Asian countries.As a pioneering research in Sri Lanka,we collected 24 h composite wastewater samples at the influent and effluent of two municipal STPs for consecutive 7 days to investigate occurrence,consumption and removal efficiency of seventeen antibiotics.The STP was located in Colombo and Hikkaduwa,respectively,representing two kinds of communities(i.e.local and tourists)in Sri Lanka.The targeted antibiotics were extracted by solid-phase extraction method and detected on an Agilent HPLCMSMS(1290/6470QQQ).Results illustrated that the majority of the antibiotics can be always detected from both STPs,except for chlorotetracycine(CTC),doxycycline(DOX)and florfenicol(FF).Fluoroquinolones(FQs)were detected at highest concentrations with ciprofloxacin(CIP)being the dominant compound.Concentrations of CIP in the influent samples were in the range of 433 e6010 ng/L.The consumption of antibiotics was estimated on the basis of influent mass load and catchment population data.We found difference in consumption patterns between the two served areas.Compared to local people in Colombo,tourists in Hikkaduwa appeared to take more antibiotics during the study period with the estimated daily dose of 0.25 g per 1000 persons.Moreover,macrolides accounted for a larger portion than FQs in Hikkaduwa,with azithromycin(AZM)being the most prevalent antibacterial agent.After comparison with an official report by Medical Supplies Division of Sri Lanka,we conjected that AZM was not commonly used among local people and it was mainly introduced by foreign arrivals.As for the removal efficiency,the activated sludge system of Colombo exhibited better elimination and more stable performance than the constructed wetland process of Hikkaduwa.Dilanka N.D.Samaraweera Xin Liu Guangcai Zhong Tilak Priyadarshana Riffat Naseem Malik Gan Zhang Mahdi Safaei Khorram Zewen Zhu Xianzhi Peng 2019Emerging Contaminants2019,5,1:3
5Molecular and functional characterization of ferritin in abalone Haliotis diversicolor supertexta显示文摘Ferritin is an iron storage protein that plays a key role in the processes of physiology and pathology.In the present study,the authors reported the ferritin gene from abalone Haliotis diversicolor supertexta,which we named hds-ferritin.The full-length of hds-ferritin cDNA consisted of 879 bp with an ORF encoding a 171 amino acids.Amino acid sequence analysis revealed that hds-ferritin shared highly homology with other species.Real time PCR and western blot analysis showed that hds-ferritin was distributed ubiquitously in abalone tissues and had the highest expression level in digestive glands,but its transcripts are not modified remarkably by the stimulation with LPS.The recombinant protein was successfully expressed in Escherichia coli BL21(DE3),and the titre of anti-ferritin antibody was about 1:14 000.The effects of ROS and RNS on ferritin were analyzed in the present study.The results showed that H2O2 played an important role in decreasing hds-ferritin,however NO cation appeared to have a protecting effect on H2O2-medied reduction of hds-ferritin.XIE Jiasong CAO Xiaohua WU Liuji LUO Ming ZHU Zewen HUANG Yanqing WU Xinzhong 2012Acta Oceanologica Sinica2012,31,3:2
6Decomposition pathway and stabilization of ether-based electrolytes in the discharge process of Li-O_(2) battery显示文摘Ether-based electrolytes with relatively high stability are widely used in Li-O_(2) batteries (LOBs) with high energy density.However,they are still prone to be attacked by reactive oxygen species.Understanding the degradation chemistry of ether-based solvent induced by reactive oxygen species is significant importance toward selection of stable electrolytes for LOBs.Herein,we demonstrate that a great amount of H_(2) gas evolves on the Li anode during the long-term discharge process of LOBs,which is due to the electrolyte decomposition at the oxygen cathode.By coupling with in-situ and ex-situ characterization techniques,it is demonstrated that O_(2)^(-) induces the H-abstraction of tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether(TEGDME) to produce a large amount of H_(2)O at cathode,and this H_(2)O migrates to Li anode and produce H_(2) gas.Based on the established experiments and spectra,a possible decomposition pathway of TEGDME caused by O_(2)^(-)at the discharge process is proposed.And moreover,three types of strategies are discussed to inhibit the decomposition of ether-based electrolytes,which should be highly important for the fundamental and technical advancement for LOBs.Xiao Liu Xiaosheng Song Qi Zhang Xuebing Zhu Qing Han Zewen Liu Peng Zhang Yong Zhao 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,6:0
7Rickettsia-like organism infection associated with mass mortalities of blood clam, Tegillarca granosa, in the Yueqing Bay in China显示文摘A series of mass mortalities of the cultured blood clam, Tegillarca granosa, occurred in the Yueqing Bay of China from 2005 to 2009. An obligate intracellular prokaryote, designated as rickettsia-like organism (RLO), was frequently found in the moribund or dead blood clam sample during ultrastructural examination. These organisms were usually round, ellipsoid or occasionally dumbbell-shaped, ranged from approximately 0.28 to 0.71 μm in size and had a trilaminar cell wall. Two reproductive modes of organisms, transverse binary fission and budding, were observed. The organisms were able to form eosinophilic inclusions. Most inclusions were found within epithelial and connective tissues of the mantle, gills and digestive tube. The biological and morphological characteristics indicate that these organisms may belong to the family Rickettsiaceae. RLOs exhibited significant pathogenicity. Cytopathological examinations revealed extensive necrosis and destruction in the infected cell. The degree of tissue destruction was positively related to the number of RLO inclusions in the tissues, and the cytopathological effects were positively related to the number of intracellular RLO. RLOs and their inclusions were discovered throughout different disease areas and in different time periods. The infection intensity of the RLOs was positively correlated with the mortality rate of clams. 8Fracture behavior of hybrid epoxy nanocomposites based on multi-walled carbon nanotube and core-shell rubber显示文摘The dispersion of nanoparticles plays a key role in enhancing the mechanical performance of polymer nanocomposites.In this work,one hybrid epoxy nanocomposite reinforced by a well dispersed,zinc oxide functionalized,multi-wall carbon nanotube (Zn O-MWCNT) and core-shell rubber (CSR) was prepared,which possesses both high modulus and fracture toughness while maintaining relatively high glass transition temperature (Tg).The improved fracture toughness from 0.82 MPa mfor neat epoxy to 1.46 MPa mfor the ternary epoxy nanocomposites is resulted from a series of synergistic toughening mechanisms,including cavitation of CSR-induced matrix shear banding,along with the fracture of MWCNTs and crack deflection.The implication of the present study for the preparation of high-performance polymer nanocomposites is discussed.Zewen Zhu Hengxi Chen Qihui Chen Cong Liu Kwanghae Noh Haiqing Yao Masaya Kotaki Hung-Jue Sue 2022Nano Materials Science2022,4,3:0
9Hierarchical structural complexity in atomically precise nanocluster frameworks显示文摘The supramolecular chemistry of nanoclusters is a flourishing area of nano-research;however,the controllable assembly of cluster nano-building blocks in different arrays remains challenging.In this work,we report the hierarchical structural complexity of atomically precise nanoclusters in micrometric linear chains(1 D array),grid networks(2 D array) and superstructures(3 D array).In the crystal lattice,the Ag_(29)(SSR)_(12)(PPh3)4 nanoclusters can be viewed as unassembled cluster dots(Ag_(29)-OD).In the presence of Cs^(+) cations,the Ag_(29)(SSR)_(12) nano-building blocks are selectively assembled into distinct arrays with different oxygen-carrying solvent molecules—Cs@Ag_(29)(SSR)_(12)(DMF)x as 1 D linear chains(Ag_(29)-1 D),Cs@Ag_(29)(SSR)_(12)(NMP)x as 2 D grid networks(Ag_(29)-2 D),and Cs@Ag_(29)(SSR)_(12)(TMS)_(x) as 3 D superstructures(Ag_(29)-3 D).Such self-assemblies of these Ag_(29)(SSR)_(12) units have not only been observed in their crystalline state,but also in their amorphous state.Due to the diverse surface structures and crystalline packing modes,these Ag_(29)-based assemblies manifest distinguishable optical absorptions and emissions in both solutions and crystallized films.Furthermore,the surface areas of the nanocluster crystals are evaluated,the maximum value of which occurs when the cluster nano-building blocks are assembled into 2 D arrays(i.e.Ag_(29)-2 D).Overall,this work presents an exciting example of the hierarchical assembly of atomically precise nanoclusters by simply controlling the adsorbed molecules on the cluster surface.Xiao Wei Xi Kang Zewen Zuo Fengqi Song Shuxin Wang Manzhou Zhu 2021National Science Review2021,8,3:0
