1The effect of an electric field on the thermomechanical damage of nodular defects in dielectric multilayer coatings irradiated by nanosecond laser pulses显示文摘Thermomechanical damage of nodules in dielectric multilayer coatings that are irradiated by nanosecond laser pulses has been interpreted with respect to mechanical properties and electric-field enhancement.However,the effect of electric-field enhancement in nodular damage,especially the influence of electric-field distributions,has never been directly demonstrated through experimental results,which prevents the achievement of a clear understanding of the damage process of nodular defects.Here,a systematic and comparative study was designed to reveal how electric-field distributions affect the damage behavior of nodules.To obtain reliable results,two series of artificial nodules with different geometries and film absorption characteristics were prepared from monodisperse silica microspheres.After establishing simplified geometrical models of the nodules,the electric-field enhancement was simulated using a three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain code.Then,the damage morphologies of the artificial nodules were directly compared with the simulated electric-field intensity profiles.For both series of nodules,the damage morphologies reproduced our simulated electric-field intensity distributions very well.These results indicated that the electric-field distribution was actually a bridge that connected the nodular mechanical properties to the final thermomechanical damage.Understanding of the damage mechanism of nodules was deepened by obtaining data on the influence of electric-field distributions on the damage behavior of nodules.Xinbin Cheng Jinlong Zhang Tao Ding Zeyong Wei Hongqiang Li Zhanshan Wang 2013Light(Science & Applications)2013,2,1:20
2Effect of a thermokarst lake on soil physical properties and infiltration processes in the permafrost region of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, China显示文摘Changes in the hydrological processes in alpine soil constitute one of the several key problems encountered with studying watershed hydrology and ecosystem stability against the background of global warming. A typically developing thermokarst lake was chosen as a subject for a study using model simulation based on observations of soil physical properties, infiltration processes, and soil moisture. The results showed that the selected thermokarst lake imposed certain changes on the soil infiltration processes and, with the degree of impact intensifying, the initial infiltration rate decreased. The greatest reduction was achieved in the area of moderate impact. However, the stable infiltration rate and cumulative infiltration gradually increased in the surface layer at a depth of 10 and 20 cm, both decreasing initially and then increasing, which is correlated significantly with soil textures. Moreover, the cumulative infiltration changed in line with steady infiltration rate. Based on a comparative analysis, the Horton model helps better understand the effect on the soil infiltration processes of the cold alpine meadow close to the chosen thermokarst lake. 3A general strategy for one-step fabrication of biocompatible microcapsules with controlled active release显示文摘Fabrication of biocompatible core-shell microcapsules in a controllable and scalable manner remains an important but challenging task.Here,we develop a one-step microfluidic approach for the highthroughput production of biocompatible microcapsules,which utilizes single emulsions as templates and controls the precipitation of biocompatible polymer at the water/oil interface.The facile method enables the loading of various oils in the core and the enhancement of polymer shell strength by polyelectrolyte coating.The resulting microcapsules have the advantages of controllability,scalability,biocompatibility,high encapsulation efficiency and high loading capacity.The core-shell microcapsules are ideal delivery vehicles for programmable active release and various controlled release mechanisms are demonstrated,including burst release by vigorous shaking,pH-triggered release for targeted intestinal release and sustained release of perfume over a long period of time.The utility of our technique paves the way for practical applications of core-shell microcapsules.Zeyong Sun Chenjing Yang Max Eggersdorfer Jiecheng Cuic Yiwei Li Mingtan Hai Dong Chen David AWeitz 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,1:5
4Changes of Extreme Precipitation and its Associated Mechanisms in Northwest China显示文摘Characterized by scarce water resources and fragile ecosystems,Northwest China(NWC)has experienced a climate shift from warm-dry to warm-wet conditions since the 1980s that has garnered extensive concern in recent years.In this study,the variability in extreme precipitation(EP)during 1961-2016 in different climate zones of NWC and the possible mechanisms for this variation are investigated.The results show that the EP trends significantly increased in most of the westerly zone(WZ)and plateau zone(PZ),while the EP trends did not significantly decrease in the monsoon zone(MZ).The start dates of extreme precipitation(SDEP)and end dates of extreme precipitation(EDEP)advanced and were postponed,respectively,in the WZ and PZ,while the opposite occurred in the MZ.Summer atmospheric circulation,water vapor transport,and atmospheric instability over NWC varied greatly with the interdecadal shift in EP before and after 1986.During 1986-2016,upper-level divergence and lower-level convergence occurred in the MZ and PZ,which strengthened ascending flow.In addition,the summer water vapor and atmospheric instability increased in the WZ and PZ.These characteristics created favorable conditions for increased occurrences of EP in the WZ and PZ in summer.Conversely,the upper-level convergence and lower-level divergence in the MZ strengthened descending flow.Decreases in summer water vapor and atmospheric instability occurred in the MZ after 1986.Hence,the environmental conditions in the MZ may have prevented the occurrence and development of EP in summer during 1986-2016.Shan LU Zeyong HU Haipeng YU Weiwei FAN Chunwei FU Di WU 2021Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,10:4
5Characteristics of land-atmosphere energy and turbulentfluxes over the plateau steppe in central Tibetan Plateau显示文摘The land-atmosphere energy and turbulence exchange is key to understanding land surface processes on the Tibetan Plateau(TP). Using observed data for Aug. 4 to Dec. 3, 2012 from the Bujiao observation point(BJ) of the Nagqu Plateau Climate and Environment Station(NPCE-BJ), different characteristics of the energy flux during the Asian summer monsoon(ASM) season and post-monsoon period were analyzed. This study outlines the impact of the ASM on energy fluxes in the central TP. It also demonstrates that the surface energy closure rate during the ASM season is higher than that of the post-monsoon period. Footprint modeling shows the distribution of data quality assessments(QA) and quality controls(QC) surrounding the observation point. The measured turbulent flux data at the NPCE-BJ site were highly representative of the target land-use type. The target surface contributed more to the fluxes under unstable conditions than under stable conditions. The main wind directions(180° and 210°) with the highest data density showed flux contributions reaching 100%, even under stable conditions. The lowest flux contributions were found in sectors with low data density, e.g., 90.4% in the 360° sector under stable conditions during the ASM season. Lastly, a surface energy water balance(SEWAB) model was used to gap-fill any absent or corrected turbulence data. The potential simulation error was also explored in this study. 6Cooling effect of ballast revetment on the roadbed of Qinghai-Tibetan Railway显示文摘The data obtained through the roadbed surface thermal regime experiment (ROBSTREX), which was carried out at Beiluhe test section of Qinghai-Tibetan Railway from October to December in 2002, were used to estimate the cooling effect of ballast revetment on the roadbed. The results show that both riprap rock ballast revetment and crushed stone ballast revetment can reduce the temperature of the roadbed. But the cooling effect of riprap rock ballast revetment is better than that of crushed stone ballast revetment when the temperature of roadbed is higher. The cooling effect of crushed stone ballast revetment is better than that of riprap rock ballast revetment when the temperature of the roadbed is lower, especially at deeper roadbed layers. 7Topology optimization of turbine disk considering maximum stress prediction and constraints显示文摘For the stress-constrained topology optimization of a turbine disk under centrifugal loads,the jagged boundaries of the mesh and the gray densities on the solid/void interfaces could make the calculated stress field inconsistent with the actual value.It may result in overestimating the maximum stress and thus affect the effectiveness of stress constraints.This paper proposes a new method for predicting the maximum stress to overcome the difficulty.In the process,a predicted density is newly defined to obtain stable boundaries with thin layers of gray elements,a transition factor is innovatively proposed to evaluate the effects of intermediate-density elements,two different stiffness penalty schemes are flexibly used to calculate the elastic modulus of elements,and a linear stress penalty is further adopted to relax the stress field of the structure.The proposed approach for predicting the maximum stress value is verified by the analysis of a structure with smooth boundaries and the topology optimization of a turbine disk.An updating scheme of the stress constraint in the topology optimization is also developed using the predicted maximum stress.Some key ingredients affecting the optimization results are discussed in detail.The results prove the effectiveness and efficacy of the proposed maximum stress prediction and developed stress constraint methods.Cheng YAN Ce LIU Han DU Cunfu WANG Zeyong YIN 2023Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2023,36,8:1

16Analysis and evaluation of vibration characteristics of a new type of electric mini-tiller based on vibration test显示文摘Now the internal combustion engine mini-tiller has become the main and indispensable agricultural machinery in vast hilly and mountainous areas of Southwest China.However,its intense vibration may pose a big threat to operators.As a countermeasure to the tiller vibration,a new type of electric mini-tiller powered with a group of lithium battery and a brushless DC motor was developed.The vibration signals at the handle of the tiller were tested under 6 conditions as follows:the tiller was under states of static and working in the field,at slow,medium and rapid speed,respectively.The signals were processed by means of the time domain eigenvalue analysis and the frequency spectrum analysis.The results show that with the electric motor rated speed increased from 95 to 140 r/min under static conditions,the RMS values increased 122.54%,and with the forward speed increased from 0.30 to 0.80 m/s under working conditions,the RMS values increased 201.78%.When the tiller was working,the first order vibration frequencies were 25.99 Hz,26.99 Hz and 28.99 Hz at slow,medium and rapid speed respectively,all not within 37.50-65.00 Hz,the sensitive range of human hands to the vibration frequency.In addition,according to the results of hand transmitted vibration analysis,it can be found that compared with operating the internal combustion engine mini-tiller under the same working condition,the onset of vibration-induced white finger can be delayed for 3.70 years to 10.20 years by operation of the new electric tiller.Po Niu Jian Chen Jindou Zhao Zeyong Luo 2019International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2019,12,5:1

20Air Temperature Estimation with MODIS Data over the Northern Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Time series of MODIS land surface temperature(T_s) and normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI) products,combined with digital elevation model(DEM) and meteorological data from 2001 to 2012,were used to map the spatial distribution of monthly mean air temperature over the Northern Tibetan Plateau(NTP). A time series analysis and a regression analysis of monthly mean land surface temperature(T_s) and air temperature(T_a) were conducted using ordinary linear regression(OLR) and geographical weighted regression(GWR). The analyses showed that GWR,which considers MODIS T_s,NDVI and elevation as independent variables,yielded much better results [R_(Adj)~2> 0.79; root-mean-square error(RMSE) =0.51℃–1.12℃] associated with estimating T_a compared to those from OLR(R_(Adj)~2= 0.40-0.78; RMSE = 1.60℃–4.38℃).In addition,some characteristics of the spatial distribution of monthly T_a and the difference between the surface and air temperature(T_d) are as follows. According to the analysis of the 0℃ and 10℃ isothermals,T_a values over the NTP at elevations of 4000–5000 m were greater than 10℃ in the summer(from May to October),and T_a values at an elevation of3200 m dropped below 0℃ in the winter(from November to April). T_a exhibited an increasing trend from northwest to southeast.
