| 1 | Geochemical and Pb-Sr-Nd isotopic compositions of Indosinian granitoids from the Bikou block,northwest of the Yangtze plate:Constraints on petrogenesis,nature of deep crust and geodynamics显示文摘This paper reports geochemical and Pb-Sr-Nd isotopic compositions of the Indosinian Yangba (215 Ma),Nanyili (225 Ma) and Mopi granitoids from the Bikou block of the northwestern margin of the Yangtze plate. These granitoids are enriched in Al (Al2O3:14.56%―16.48%) and Sr (352 μg/g―1047 μg/g),and depleted in Y (<16 μg/g) and HREE (e.g. Yb<1.61 μg/g),resulting in high Sr/Y (36.3―150) and (La/Yb)N (7.8―36.3) ratios and strongly fractionationed REE patterns. The Indosinian granotoids show initial Sr isotopic ratios (ISr) from 0.70419 to 70752,εNd(t) values from-3.1 to -8.5,and initial Pb isotopic ratios 206Pb/204Pb=17.891-18.250,207Pb/204Pb=15.494-15.575,and 208Pb/204Pb=37.788-38.335. Their geochemi-cal signatures indicate that the granitoids are adakitic. However,they are distinct from some adakites,generated by partial melting of subducted oceanic slab and/or underplated basaltic lower crust,be-cause they have high K (K2O: 1.49%―3.84%) and evolved Nd isotopic compositions,with older Nd iso-topic model ages (TDM=1.06―1.83 Ga). Geochemical and Sr-Nd isotopic compositions suggest that the magmas of the Insoninian adakitic rocks in the Bikou block were derived from partial melting of thick-ened basaltic lower crust. Combined with regional analyses,a lithospheric delamination model after collision between the North China and South China plates can account for the Indosinian adakitic magma generation. On the other hand,based on the Pb-Sr-Nd isotopic probing to the magma sources of the adakitic rocks,it is suggested that there is an unexposed continent-type basement under the exposed Bikou Group volcanic rocks. | 3 | Altered trends in carbon uptake in China’s terrestrial ecosystems under the enhanced summer monsoon and warming hiatus显示文摘The carbon budgets in terrestrial ecosystems in China are strongly coupled with climate changes.Over the past decade,China has experienced dramatic climate changes characterized by enhanced summer monsoon and decelerated warming.However,the changes in the trends of terrestrial net ecosystem production(NEP)in China under climate changes are not well documented.Here,we used three ecosystem models to simulate the spatiotemporal variations in China's NEP during 1982–2010 and quantify the contribution of the strengthened summer monsoon and warming hiatus to the NEP variations in four distinct climatic regions of the country.Our results revealed a decadal-scale shift in NEP from a downtrend of–5.95 Tg C/yr^2(reduced sink)during 1982–2000 to an uptrend of 14.22 Tg C/yr^2(enhanced sink)during 2000–10.This shift was essentially induced by the strengthened summer monsoon,which stimulated carbon uptake,and the warming hiatus,which lessened the decrease in the NEP trend.Compared to the contribution of 56.3%by the climate effect,atmospheric CO2 concentration and nitrogen deposition had relatively small contributions(8.6 and 11.3%,respectively)to the shift.In conclusion,within the context of the global-warming hiatus,the strengthening of the summer monsoon is a critical climate factor that enhances carbon uptake in China due to the asymmetric response of photosynthesis and respiration.Our study not only revealed the shift in ecosystem carbon sequestration in China in recent decades,but also provides some insight for understanding ecosystem carbon dynamics in other monsoonal areas. | Honglin He Shaoqiang Wang Li Zhang Junbang Wang Xiaoli Ren Lei Zhou Shilong Piao Hao Yan Weimin Ju Fengxue Gu Shiyong Yu Yuanhe Yang Miaomiao Wang Zhongen Niu Rcmg Ge Huimin Yan Mei Huang Guoyi Zhou Yongfei Bai Zongqiang Xie Zhiyao Tang Bingfang Wu Leiming Zhang Nianpeng He Qiufeng Wang Guirui Yu | 2019 | National Science Review2019,6,3: | 24 |
| 4 | Effects of maize root exudates and organic acids on the desorption of phenanthrene from soils显示文摘The eects of maize root exudates and low-molecular-weight-organic anions (LMWOAs) on the desorption of phenanthrene from eight artificially contaminated soils were evaluated. A significant negative correlation was observed between the amounts of phenanthrene desorbed and the soil organic carbon (SOC) contents (P < 0.01), and the inuences of soil pH and clay content on phenanthrene desorption were insignificant (P > 0.1). Neither maize root exudates nor oxalate and citrate anions inuenced desorption of phenanthrene with the addition of NaN3. A faster phenanthrene desorption occurred without the addition of NaN3 in the presence of maize root exudates than oxalate or citrate due to the enhanced degradation by root exudates. Without the addition of NaN3, oxalate or citrate at dierent concentrations could inhibit phenanthrene desorption to dierent extents and the inhibiting eect by citrate was more significant than by oxalate. | 8 | Automatic detection of oceanic eddies in reanalyzed SST images and its application in the East China Sea显示文摘Oceanic eddies may cause local sea surface temperature(SST), height, and salinity anomalies in remote sensing(RS) images. Remote sensed SST imagery has proven to be an effective technique in oceanic eddy detection, because of its high temporal and spatial resolution. Various techniques have been used to identify eddies from SST images. However, mainly owing to the strong morphological variation of oceanic eddies, there is arguably no uniquely correct eddy detection method. A scheme of algorithm based on quasi-contour tracing and clustering of eddy detection from SST dataset is presented. The method does not impose fixed restrictions or limitations during the course of 'suspected' eddy detection, and any eddy-like structures can be detected as 'suspected' eddies. Then, 'true' eddies can be identified based on the combination of intensity and spatial/temporal scale criteria. This approach has been applied to detect eddies in the East China Sea by using Operational SST & Sea Ice Analysis(OSTIA) dataset. Experiments proved that oceanic eddies ranging in diameter from tens to hundreds of kilometers can be detected. Through investigation of the 2007–2011 OSTIA daily SST dataset from the Kuroshio region in the East China Sea, we found that the most active regions for oceanic eddies are those along the Kuroshio path, northeast of Taiwan Island, the Yangtze Estuary and the Ryukyu Islands. About 86% of the cyclonic eddies and 87% of the anticyclonic eddies have the size of 50–100 km in diameter. | 10 | Effects of High-temperature Char Layer and Pyrolysis Gas on NOx Reduction in a Typical Decoupling Combustion Coal-fired Stove显示文摘The suppression of nitrogen oxides(NO_x) is the key to reducing pollutant emission of a domestic coal-fired stove due to the limitation of technology condition and economic cost. The decoupling combustion(DC) technology invented by Institute of Process Engineering(IPE), Chinese Academy of Sciences(CAS) is characterized by that a traditional stove is separated into a pyrolysis and a combustion chamber as well as a bottom passage between them. In this study, the combustion of briquette from bituminous coal in different operation modes in a typical decoupling stove is tested and simulated to validate the advantage of DC technology over so-called reverse combustion. The smokeless and high-efficiency combustion of bituminous briquette with low emissions of NO_x and CO can be implemented by utilizing low NO_x combustion under low temperature and reduction atmosphere in the pyrolysis chamber as well as after-combustion of char and pyrolysis gas under high temperature and oxidation atmosphere in the combustion chamber. | 11 | Accumulation and phytotoxicity of technical hexabromocyclododecane in maize显示文摘To investigate the accumulation and phytotoxicity of technical hexabromocyclododecane(HBCD)in maize,young seedlings were exposed to solutions of technical HBCD at different concentrations.The uptake kinetics showed that the HBCD concentration reached an apparent equilibrium within 96 hr,and the accumulation was much higher in roots than in shoots.HBCD accumulation in maize had a positive linear correlation with the exposure concentration.The accumulation of different diastereoisomers followed the orderγ-HBCD>β-HBCD>α-HBCD.Compared with their proportions in the technical HBCD exposure solution,the diastereoisomer contribution increased forβ-HBCD and decreased forγ-HBCD in both maize roots and shoots with exposure time,whereas the contribution ofα-HBCD increased in roots and decreased in shoots throughout the experimental period.These results suggest the diastereomer-specific accumulation and translocation of HBCD in maize.Inhibitory effects of HBCD on the early development of maize followed the order of germination rate>root biomass≥root elongation>shoot biomass≥shoot elongation.Hydroxyl radical(OH)and histone H2AX phosphorylation(γ-H2AX)were induced in maize by HBCD exposure,indicative of the generation of oxidative stress and DNA double-strand breaks in maize.An OH scavenger inhibited the expression ofγ-H2AX foci in both maize roots and shoots,which suggests the involvement of OH generation in the HBCD-induced DNA damage.The results of this study will offer useful information for a more comprehensive assessment of the environmental behavior and toxicity of technical HBCD. | Tong Wu Honglin Huang Shuzhen Zhang | 2016 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,4: | 7 |
| 12 | A Small-Scale Medication of Leflunomide as a Treatment of COVID-19 in an Open-Label Blank-Controlled Clinical Trial显示文摘We recently reported that inhibitors against human dihydroorotate dehydrogenase(DHODH)have broad-spectrum antiviral activities including their inhibitory efficacies on SARS-CoV-2 replication in infected cells.However,there are limited data from clinical studies to prove the application of DHODH inhibitors in Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients.In the present study,we evaluated Leflunomide,an approved DHODH inhibitor widely used as a modest immune regulator to treat autoimmune diseases,in treating COVID-19 disease with a small-scale of patients.Cases of 10 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients of moderate type with obvious opacity in the lung were included.Five of the patients were treated with Leflunomide,and another five were treated as blank controls without a placebo.All the patients accepted standard supportive treatment for COVID-19.The patients given Leflunomide had a shorter viral shedding time(median of5 days)than the controls(median of 11 days,P=0.046).The patients given Leflunomide also showed a significant reduction in C-reactive protein levels,indicating that immunopathological inflammation was well controlled.No obvious adverse effects were observed in Leflunomide-treated patients,and they all discharged from the hospital faster than controls.This preliminary study on a small-scale compassionate use of Leflunomide provides clues for further understanding of Leflunomide as a potential antiviral drug against COVID-19. | Ke Hu Mengmei Wang Yang Zhao Yunting Zhang Tao Wang Zhishui Zheng Xiaochen Li Shaolin Zeng Dong Zhao Honglin Li Ke Xu Ke Lan | 2020 | Virologica Sinica2020,35,6: | 7 |
| 13 | Analysis of IGF2 mRNA expression and its methylation status between cattle yaks and their parents显示文摘Cattle yaks are an F1 hybrid between cattle and yaks and exhibit significant hybrid vigor. However, cattle yaks are sterile males. To study the epigenetic aspects of this reproductive isolation, IGF2 mRNA expression in cattle yaks and their parents and the patterns of the IGF2 differentially methylated regions (DMR) were examined in blood and testes. The results showed that IGF2 expression in cattle yaks' testes was lower than in their parents (P < 0.01). The IGF2 DMR was highly methylated (above 90%) in blood and testes of cattle yaks, yaks and cattle, with the highest level in cattle yaks (P > 0.05). Our study showed that IGF2 plays an important role in bovine spermato-genesis and might be involved in cattle-yak male sterility. | 15 | Simultaneous determination of brominated phenols in soils显示文摘Brominated phenols(BPs),a widely used group of emerging flame retardants,are important environmental contaminants and exhibit endocrine disrupting potential.Method for simultaneous determination of tetrabromobisphenol A(TBBPA),tribromophenol(TBP),dibromophenols(DBPs)and monobromophenols(MBPs)in soils using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis(GC/MS)was successfully developed.Cleanup methods for soil extracts including several solid-phase extraction cartridges and diferent elution solvents were compared and optimized.Florisil cartridge with dichloromethane as the elution reagent was selected for sample cleanup owing to its high and reproducible recoveries of the target analytes in soils.Derivatization conditions were tested and the optimal conditions were obtained with 20μL silylation reagent at room temperature.The chromatographic separation was optimized with diferent columns and DB-XLB column was selected for its excellent separation of the analytes.The limits of detection for the target compounds were from 0.04 to 0.19 ng/g.Mean recoveries of the compounds from spiked soils exceeded 84%with a good reproducibility,excepting that the recovery of 2-bromophenol was relatively poor(lower than 55%)due to its instability.The developed method was applied to the determination of the BPs in the soils collected from e-waste sites.The contents of BPs in the soils were at ng/g levels with TBBPA and TBP the most frequently detected.To our knowledge,this is the first report for the simultaneous determination of TBBPA,TBP,DBPs and MBPs in soils. | Wei Han Sen Wang Honglin Huang Lei Luo Shuzhen Zhang | 2013 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,11: | 5 |

| 19 | Estimation of diffuse photosynthetically active radiation and the spatiotemporal variation analysis in China from 1981 to 2010显示文摘Photosynthetically active radiation(PAR) is the energy source of plant photosynthesis, and the diffuse component can enhance canopy light use efficiency, thereby increasing the carbon uptake. Therefore, diffuse PAR is an important driving factor of ecosystem productivity models. In this study, we estimated the diffuse PAR of over 700 meteorological sites in China from 1981 to 2010 using an empirical model based on observational data from Chinese Ecosystem Research Network(CERN) and China Meteorology Administration. Then we derived the spatial data set of 10 km monthly diffuse PAR using ANUSPLIN software, and analyzed the spatiotemporal variation characteristics of diffuse PAR through GIS and trend analysis techniques. The results showed that:(1) The spatial patterns of annual average diffuse PAR during 1981–2010 are heterogeneous across China, lower in the northeast and higher in the west and south. The nationwide average value for 30 years ranges from 6.66 mol m-2 d-1 to 15.27 mol m-2 d-1, and the value in summer is the biggest while the value in winter is the smallest.(2) There is an evident increasing trend of annual diffuse PAR during recent 30 years, with the increasing amplitude at 0.03 mol m-2 d-1/10a. But a significant declining trend is shown in the first 10 years, and obvious anomalies can be seen in 1982, 1983, 1991 and 1992. | 20 | Effects of freeze–thaw cycles on soil N_2O concentration and flux in the permafrost regions of the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Nitrous oxide(N_2 O) is one of the most important greenhouse gases in the atmosphere; freeze–thaw cycles(FTCs) might strongly influence the emission of soil N_2 O on the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau(QTP). However, there is a lack of in situ research on the characteristics of soil N_2 O concentration and flux in response to variations in soil properties caused by FTCs.Here, we report the effect of FTC-induced changes in soil properties on the soil N_2 O concentration and flux in the permafrost region of the higher reaches of the Shule River Basin on the northeastern margin of the QTP. We measured chemical properties of the topsoil, activities of soil microorganisms, and air temperature(AT), as well as soil N_2 O concentration and flux, over an annual cycle from July 31, 2011, to July 30, 2012. The results showed that soil N_2 O concentration was significantly affected by soil temperature(ST), soil moisture(SM), soil salinity(SS), soil polyphenol oxidase(SPO), soil alkaline phosphatase(SAP), and soil culturable actinomycetes(SCA), ranked as SM>SS>ST>SPO>SAP>SCA, whereas ST significantly increased soil N_2 O flux, compared with SS.
