1Knockdown of OsHox33, a member of the class III homeodomain-leucine zipper gene family, accelerates leaf senescence in rice显示文摘The class III homeodomain-leucine zipper(HD-Zip III)gene family plays important roles in plant growth and development,including regulation of apical embryo patterning,embryonic shoot meristem formation,leaf polarity,vascular development,and meristem function,with a particularly crucial function in leaf development.Although HD-Zip III members are highly conserved in land plants,previous studies,such as genetic analyses based on multiple mutants in Arabidopsis and other plants,suggest that various HD-Zip III family genes have evolved with distinct functions and pleiotropic effects on plant growth and development.In this study,we analyzed a HD-Zip III member,OsHox33,and demonstrated that it plays an important role in age-dependent leaf senescence in rice.We constructed two specific RNAi vectors derived from the 5′-end region and 3′-UTR of OsHox33 to knockdown its expression.Transgenic plants harboring either RNAi construct displayed similar phenotypes of precocious leaf senescence symptoms,suggesting that knockdown of OsHox33 accelerates leaf senescence in rice.pOsHox33::GUS fusion expression and RT-PCR revealed that OsHox33 is highly expressed in young organs,especially in young meristems such as shoot apical meristems,intercalary meristems,and young callus.In addition,real-time PCR indicated that OsHox33 was more highly expressed in young leaves than in old leaves.To further investigate OsHox33 function,we analyzed chloroplast ultrastructure in different-aged leaves of RNAi plants,and found that OsHox33 knockdown accelerated chloroplast degradation,which is consistent with RNAi phenotypes.Finally,real-time PCR studies showed that OsHox33 can regulate the expression of GS1 and GS2,two senescence-associated genes.Taken together,the work presented here provides new insights into the function of HD-Zip III members in plants.LUAN WeiJiang SHEN Ao JIN ZhiPing SONG SuSheng LI ZhengLong SHA AiHua 2013Science China(Life Sciences)2013,56,12:13
2Structural and biochemical mechanism responsible for the stay-green phenotype in common wheat显示文摘In order to increase the supply of assimilated carbon to grain, a new stay-green wheat cultivar, Chuannong17 (CN17), with delayed leaf senescence, carrying wheat-rye 1RS.1BL translo- cated chromosome was developed. CN17 exhibited distinct differences in net photosynthetic rate (Pn), chlorophyll (Chl) content, malondialdehyde (MDA) content, activity of both superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) during the grain filling stage, and flag leaf senescence compared with the control. The new cultivar maintained longer and higher photosyn- thetic competence compared with the control, and this aspect correlated with the difference in chloro-plast development. Moreover, the stay-green pheno-type of CN17 was also observed under natural growth conditions. 3Pretreatment of heterocyclic pesticide wastewater using ultrasonic/ozone combined process显示文摘Ultrasonic/O 3 combined process was employed to pretreat heterocyclic pesticide wastewater for increasing biodegradability and reducing biological toxicity. Influences of ultrasonic frequency, ultrasonic power, probe diameter, initial pH and O 3 dosage on the COD removal were studied. The results showed that the ultrasonic/O 3 process significantly improved the biodegradability and reduced the biological toxicity of the wastewater. The ratio of BOD 5 /COD was increased from 0.03 to 0.55 and the EC 50 increased from 11% to 52% under ultrasonic/O 3 treatment. Low ultrasonic frequency brought better COD removal. Initial pH was found to have a high influence on the COD removal and alkaline conditions were more favorable. The influences of ultrasonic power and probe diameter were small. With an increase in O 3 dosage, COD removal was effectively improved. The optimal operational parameters for the combined process on COD removal were ultrasonic frequency 20 kHz, initial pH 9.00, ultrasonic power 300 W and dosage of O 3 454.8 mg/(L·min), under which the efficiency of COD removal reached 67.2%.Zhenglong Xiong Xiang Cheng Dezhi Sun 2011Journal of Environmental Sciences2011,23,5:9
4Analysis of DNA methylation variation in wheat genetic background after alien chromatin introduction based on methylation-sensitive amplification polymorphism显示文摘During the process of alien germplasm introduced into wheat genome by chromosome engineering, extensive genetic variations of genome structure and gene expression in recipient could be induced. In this study, we performed GISH (genome in situ hybridization) and AFLP (amplified fragment length po-lymorphism) on wheat-rye chromosome translocation lines and their parents to detect the identity in genomic structure of different translocation lines. The results showed that the genome primary struc-ture variations were not obviously detected in different translocation lines except the same 1RS chromosome translocation. Methylation sensitive amplification polymorphism (MSAP) analyses on genomic DNA showed that the ratios of fully-methylated sites were significantly increased in translo-cation lines (CN12, 20.15%; CN17, 20.91%; CN18, 22.42%), but the ratios of hemimethylated sites were significantly lowered (CN12, 21.41%; CN17, 23.43%; CN18, 22.42%), whereas 16.37% were fully-me-thylated and 25.44% were hemimethylated in case of their wheat parent. Twenty-nine classes of me-thylation patterns were identified in a comparative assay of cytosine methylation patterns between wheat-rye translocation lines and their wheat parent, including 13 hypermethylation patterns (33.74%), 9 demethylation patterns (22.76%) and 7 uncertain patterns (4.07%). 5Nanowire-supported plasmonic waveguide for remote excitation of surface-enhanced Raman scattering显示文摘Due to its amazing ability to manipulate light at the nanoscale,plasmonics has become one of the most interesting topics in the field of light–matter interaction.As a promising application of plasmonics,surface-enhanced Raman scattering(SERS)has been widely used in scientific investigations and material analysis.The large enhanced Raman signals are mainly caused by the extremely enhanced electromagnetic field that results from localized surface plasmon polaritons.Recently,a novel SERS technology called remote SERS has been reported,combining both localized surface plasmon polaritons and propagating surface plasmon polaritons(PSPPs,or called plasmonic waveguide),which may be found in prominent applications in special circumstances compared to traditional local SERS.In this article,we review the mechanism of remote SERS and its development since it was first reported in 2009.Various remote metal systems based on plasmonic waveguides,such as nanoparticle–nanowire systems,single nanowire systems,crossed nanowire systems and nanowire dimer systems,are introduced,and recent novel applications,such as sensors,plasmon-driven surface-catalyzed reactions and Raman optical activity,are also presented.Furthermore,studies of remote SERS in dielectric and organic systems based on dielectric waveguides remind us that this useful technology has additional,tremendous application prospects that have not been realized in metal systems.Yingzhou Huang Yurui Fang Zhenglong Zhang Ling Zhu Mengtao Sun 2014Light(Science & Applications)2014,3,1:8
6Remotely excited Raman optical activity using chiral plasmon propagation in Ag nanowires显示文摘We experimentally investigated remotely excited Raman optical activity(ROA)using propagating surface plasmons in chiral Ag nanowires.Using chiral fmoc-glycyl-glycine-OH(FGGO)molecules,we first studied the local surface plasmon-enhanced ROA.We found that the Raman intensity can be excited by left-and right-circularly polarized lights and that the circular intensity difference(CID)can be significantly enhanced.Second,by selecting vibrational modes with large Raman and ROA intensities that are not influenced by chemical enhancements,we studied remotely excited ROA imaging and the CID of FGGO molecules by propagating a plasmonic waveguide using Ag chiral nanostructures.When laser light was radiated on one of the Ag terminals,the measured CID of the FGG at the other terminal showed little change compared to the local excited CID.Meanwhile,when the laser light was radiated on the Ag nanowires(not on the terminals)and was coupled to the nearby nanoantenna,the CID of the ROA could be manipulated by altering the coupling angle between the Ag nanowires.To directly demonstrate the propagation of ROA along the nanowire and its remote detection,we also measured the remotely excited ROA spectra.Our experimental method has the potential to remotely determine the chirality of molecular structures and the absolute configuration or conformation of a chiral live cell.Mengtao Sun Zhenglong Zhang Peijie Wang Qiang Li Fengcai Ma Hongxing Xu 2013Light(Science & Applications)2013,2,1:7
7Effects of Yishengukang decoction on expression of bone-specific alkaline phosphatase,carboxyterminal propeptide of typeⅠprocollagen,and carboxyterminal cross-linked telepeptide of typeⅠcollagen in malignant tumor patients with bone metastasis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of Yishengukang decoction on the expression of the metabolic bone markers, bone-specific alkaline phosphatase(BAP), carboxyterminal propeptide of type Ⅰ procollagen(PICP), and carboxyterminal cross-linked telepeptide of type Ⅰ collagen(ICTP), in cancer patients with bone metastasis.METHODS: Patients(n = 180) were divided into three groups:(a) bone metastasis patients treated with Yishengukang and pamidronate disodium injection(treatment group, n = 60);(b) bone metastasis patients treated with pamidronate disodium injection alone(control group, n = 60);(c) cancer patients without metastatic bone lesion(non-bone metastasis group, n = 60). Serum levels of the metabolic markers BAP, PICP, and ICTP were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay pre- and post-therapy.RESULTS: A significant decrease in serum BAP level was observed in the treatment group compared with the control group. However there were no significant differences in serum levels of PICP and ICTP before or after treatment compared with the control group.CONCLUSION: Yishengukang decoction combined with pamidronate disodium injection reduced serum BAP level to a greater extent that pamidronate disodium injection alone. 8Haplotype variation of Green Revolution gene Rht-D1 during wheat domestication and improvement显示文摘Green Revolution made a substantial contribution to wheat yields worldwide in the 1960 s and 1970 s. It is of great importance to analyze the haplotype variation of Rht-D1, the Green Revolution gene, during wheat(Triticum aestivum L.)domestication and breeding to understand its evolution and function in wheat breeding history. In this study, the Rht-D1 and its flanking regions were sequenced and single nucleotide polymorphisms were detected based on a panel of 45 accessions of Aegilops tauschii, 51 accessions of landraces and 80 accessions of commercial varieties. Genetic diversity in the wild accessions was much higher than that in the varieties and higher than that reported previously. Seven haplotypes(Hapl I to Hapl VII) of Rht-D1 were identified and their evolutionary relationships were proposed. In addition to the well-known Green Revolution allele Rht-D1b, Hapl VII(an allele Rht-D1k) was identified in early breeding varieties, which reduced plant height by 16%. 9Microstructure,tensile properties and thermal stability of AlMgSiScZr alloy printed by laser powder bed fusion显示文摘The new generation of Sc and Zr modified Al alloys has been attracted wide concerns in aerospace industry,owing to the excellent mechanical performances and superior thermal stability than other normal Al alloys.By microalloying with Sc and Zr,the Al3(Sc,Zr)particle forms as the grain refiner during the solidification,which is extremely beneficial for the laser powder bed fusion(LPBF)processed Al alloys.In this study,a new type Al-14.1 Mg-0.47 Si-0.31 Sc-0.17 Zr alloy was additively manufactured by LPBF,and the microstructure,tensile properties and thermal stability were studied in detail.By using a single melt-67°scanning strategy,the LPBF-processed specimen with a relative density of 99.4%and tensile strength of 487.7 MPa was obtained at 160 W-200 mm/s.And this AlMgSiScZr alloy can still exhibit an excellent tensile strength of 393.9 MPa at a moderate temperature of 473 K.After the aging treatment,the tensile properties further increased due to the precipitate hardening of Mg2Si and Al3(Sc,Zr),and the maximum value(580 MPa)was reached at an aging time of 10 h.The average crystal size was almost unchanged after aging treated at 325℃and 24 h,indicating this AlMgSiScZr alloy has an improved thermal stability.The AlMgSiScZr alloy is recommended to substitute some particular titanium alloys in aerospace field afterwards.Jiang Bi Zhenglong Lei Yanbin Chen Xi Chen Ze Tian Nannan Lu Xikun Qin Jingwei Liang 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,10:4
10Correlation analysis between the chemical contents and bioactivity for the quality control of Alismatis Rhizoma显示文摘In order to clarify regions of production and to discriminate processing methods, quantitative and qualitative analyses for saccharides and terpenes in 35 batches of Alismatis Rhizoma were performed.Methodologies included HPLC–PDA, HPLC–VWD and UHPLC–MSn, combined with principal component analysis(PCA) and partial least squares regression techniques(PLSR). The inhibitory effects of triterpenes and Alismatis Rhizoma extracts on lipase activity were evaluated in vitro. PLSR analysis revealed significant positive correlations(R2= 0.5795) between the contents of triterpenes 10, 14, 15, 18 and 22 and the inhibitory effects of Alismatis Rhizoma. The present study establishes an effective method for simultaneous determination of multiple components, and identifies key bioactive triterpenes. 11Transfer alignment of shipborne inertial-guided weapon systems显示文摘The transfer alignment problem of the shipborne weapon inertial navigation system (INS) is addressed. Specifically, two transfer alignment algorithms subjected to the ship motions induced by the waves are discussed. To consider the limited maneuver level performed by the ship, a new filter algorithm for transfer alignment methods using velocity and angular rate matching is first derived. And then an improved method using integrated velocity and integrated angular rate matching is introduced to reduce the effect of the ship body flexure. 14Value-added Impact of Geostationary Hyperspectral Infrared Sounders on Local Severe Storm Forecasts——via a Quick Regional OSSE显示文摘Accurate atmospheric temperature and moisture information with high temporal/spatial resolutions are two of the key parameters needed in regional numerical weather prediction(NWP) models to reliably predict high-impact weather events such as local severe storms(LSSs). High spectral resolution or hyperspectral infrared(HIR) sounders from geostationary orbit(GEO) provide an unprecedented source of near time-continuous, three-dimensional information on the dynamic and thermodynamic atmospheric fields—an important benefit for nowcasting and NWP-based forecasting. In order to demonstrate the value of GEO HIR sounder radiances on LSS forecasts, a quick regional OSSE(Observing System Simulation Experiment)framework has been developed, including high-resolution nature run generation, synthetic observation simulation and validation, and impact study on LSS forecasts. Results show that, on top of the existing LEO(low earth orbit) sounders, a GEO HIR sounder may provide value-added impact [a reduction of 3.56% in normalized root-mean-square difference(RMSD)] on LSS forecasts due to large spatial coverage and high temporal resolution, even though the data are assimilated every 6 h with a thinning of 60 km. Additionally, more frequent assimilations and smaller thinning distances allow more observations to be assimilated, and may further increase the positive impact from a GEO HIR sounder. On the other hand, with denser and more frequent observations assimilated, it becomes more difficult to handle the spatial error correlation in observations and gravity waves due to the limitations of current assimilation and forecast systems(such as a static background error covariance). 15Genes for resistance to stripe rust on chromosome 2B and their application in wheat breeding显示文摘Stripe rust,caused by Puccinia striiformis f.sp.tritici,is one of the most damaging diseases of wheat worldwide.Growing resistant cultivars is the most economic and environmental friendly way to control the disease.There are many resistance genes to stripe rust located on wheat chromosome 2B.Here,we propose a strategy to construct the recombinant wheat chromosome 2B with multiple resistances to stripe rust by making crosses between wheat lines or cultivars carrying Yr genes and using marker-assisted selection,based on the reported information about resistance spectrum,chromosomal location,and linked markers of the genes.Pyramiding the resistance genes on 2B would afford a valuable strategy to control the disease by cultivating varieties with durable resistance.The possibility,efficiency,and prospect of the suggested strategy are reviewed in the paper.Peigao Luo Xueyun Hu Huaiyu Zhang Zhenglong Ren 2009Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2009,19,1:3
16Self‐suspended rare‐earth doped up‐conversion luminescent waveguide:propagating and directional radiation显示文摘Near-infrared excited rare-earth(RE)-doped up-conversion(UC)-luminescent materials have attracted enormous attention because of their unique emission properties,such as narrow emission bands,long luminescence lifetimes,and multiple colors.However,current development of RE-doped luminescent material is hindered by weak and narrowband absorption problems and low photon-conversion quantum efficiencies.In addition to conventional approaches to enhance fluorescence intensity,controlling emission directivity to improve detection efficiency has become a promising approach to obtain higher luminescence brightnesses.In this paper,a self-suspended RE-doped UC luminescent waveguide is designed to realize directional emissions.Benefitting from the special morphology of the crown-like NaYF4:Yb3+/Er3+microparticle,the points contact between the waveguide and substrate can be obtained to decrease energy loss.An attractive UC luminescent pattern accompanied by powerful and controllable directional emissions is observed,and the spatial emission angle and intensity distribution are explored and analyzed in detail by introducing Fourier imaging detection and simulation.This work provides a new method for achieving controllable directional fluorescence emissions and obtaining improved detection efficiency by narrowing emission directivity,which has potential applications in 3-dimensional displays and micro-optoelectronic devices,especially when fabricating self-fluorescence micron lasers.Changjian Zhang Chengyun Zhang Zhenglong Zhang Tao He Xiaohu Mi Ting Kong Zhengkun Fu Hairong Zheng Hongxing Xu 2020Opto-Electronic Advances2020,3,6:3

18Application of computational fluid dynamics simulation for submarine oil spill显示文摘Computational fluid dynamics(CFD) codes are being increasingly used in the simulation of submarine oil spills.This study focuses on the process of oil spills, from damaged submarine pipes, to the sea surface, using numerical models. The underwater oil spill model is developed, and a description of the governing equations is proposed,along with modifications required for the particalization of the control volume. Available experimental data were introduced to evaluate the validity of the CFD predictions, the results of which proved to be in good agreement with the experimental data. The effects of oil leak rate, leak diameter, current velocity, and oil density are investigated, by the validated CFD model, to estimate the undersea leakage time, the lateral migration distance,and surface diffusion range when the oil reaches the sea surface. Results indicate that the leakage time and lateral migration distance increase with decreasing leak rates and leak diameter, and increase with increasing current velocity and oil density. On the other hand, a large leak diameter, high density, high leak rate, or fast currents result in a greater surface diffusion range. 19An additively manufactured Al-14.1Mg-0.47Si-0.31Sc-0.17Zr alloy with high specific strength,good thermal stability and excellent corrosion resistance显示文摘A novel Al-14.1 Mg-0.47 Si-0.31 Sc-0.17 Zr alloy was applied in the printing process of selective laser melting(SLM),and the corresponding microstructural feature,phase identification,tensile properties and corrosion behavior of the Al Mg Si Sc Zr alloy were studied in detail.As fabricated at 160 W and 200 mm/s,the Mg content of bulk sample decreased to 11.7 wt%due to the element vaporization at high energy density,and the density of this additively manufactured Al Mg Si Sc Zr alloy was 2.538 g/cm^(3),which is4.2%8.5%lighter than that of other SLM-processed Al alloys.After heat-treated(HT)at 325℃and 6 h,the microstructure was almost unchanged with an alternate distribution of fine equiaxed crystals and coarse columnar crystals.Nano-sized Al3(Sc,Zr)and Mg_(2)Si phases precipitated dispersedly in the Al matrix,and the tensile strength increased from 487.6 MPa to 578.4 MPa for precipitation strengthening and fine grain strengthening.With a fine grain size of 2.53μm,an excellent corrosion resistance was obtained for the as-printed(AP)Al Mg Si Sc Zr alloy.While the corrosion resistance of HT sample decreased slightly for the formation of non-dense oxide layer and pitting corrosion induced by diffuse precipitation distribution.This SLM-printed Al Mg Si Sc Zr alloy with high specific strength,good thermal stability and excellent corrosion resistance has broad prospects for the aerospace and automotive applications.Jiang Bi Zhenglong Lei Yanbin Chen Xi Chen Nannan Lu Ze Tian Xikun Qin 2021Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,8:2
20Ensemble Retrieval of Atmospheric Temperature Profiles from AIRS显示文摘Satellite-based observations provide great opportunities for improving weather forecasting. Physical retrieval of atmospheric profiles from satellite observations is sensitive to the uncertainty of the first guess and other factors. In order to improve the accuracy of the physical retrieval, an ensemble methodology was developed with an emphasis on perturbing the first guess. In the methodology, a normal probability density function(PDF) is used to select the optimal profile from the ensemble retrievals. The ensemble retrieval algorithm contains four steps:(1) regression retrieval for original first guess;(2) perturbation of the original first guess to generate new first guesses(ensemble first guesses);(3) using the ensemble first guesses and nonlinear iterative physical retrieval to generate ensemble physical results; and(4) the final optimal profile is selected from the ensemble physical results by using PDF. Temperature eigenvectors(EVs) were used to generate the perturbation and generate the ensemble first guess. Compared with the regular temperature profile retrievals from the Atmospheric InfraRed Sounder(AIRS), the ensemble retrievals RMSE of temperature profiles selected by the PDF was reduced between150 and 320 hPa and below 400 hPa, with a maximum improvement of 0.3 K at 400 hPa. The bias was also reduced in many layers, with a maximum improvement of 0.69 K at 460 hPa. The combined optimal(CombOpt) profile and a mean optimal(MeanOpt) profile of all ensemble physical results were improved below 150 hPa. The MeanOpt profile was better than the CombOpt profile, and was regarded as the final optimal(FinOpt) profile.
