| 2 | Exosome-mediated transfer of miR-1290 promotes cell proliferation and invasion in gastric cancer via NKD1显示文摘Currently, exosomes rich in RNAs and proteins are regarded as vital mediators of intercellular communication. Here, we aimed to explore the effects of exosomal miR-1290 in gastric cancer (GC) and understand its mechanism of action on GC progression. We first isolated exosomes from serum samples of GC patients and healthy people and characterized them by transmission electron microscopy. Then, we examined the expression level of miR-1290 contained in the exosomes by quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction and found that exosomal miR-1290 was overexpressed in GC patients and cell lines. Promotion of proliferation, migration, and invasiveness of GC cells was noted after they were incubated with the isolated miR-1290-rich exosomes compared with incubation with a negative control. Furthermore, we predicted that naked cuticle homolog 1 (NKD1) mRNA is a direct target of miR-1290 and confirmed their interaction by a dual luciferase reporter assay. NKD1 overexpression attenuated the stimulatory effects of miR-1290 on GC cells. Collectively, our results suggest that exosomal miR-1290 enhances GC cell proliferation and invasion by targeting NKD1 mRNA and downregulating NKD1 expression. | 3 | Treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compressive fractures with percutaneous kyphoplasty and oral Zishengukang显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To observe the therapeutic effect of percutaneous kyphoplasty(PKP) and oral Zishengukang(ZSGK) for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures(OVCFs).METHODS:Seventy patients were randomly divided into a control group(PKP group) and an experimental group(PKP plus ZSGK group).The 35 patients in the experimental group were prescribed 6 g oral ZSGK three times a day for 90 days after PKP.Visual analog pain scale(VAS),Oswestry functional score,vertebral height and Cobb's angle were recorded and compared before treatment and at one week,one month and three months after treatment.RESULTS:Vertebral height and Cobb's angle significantly improved and VAS and Oswestry functional score were significantly lower in both groups after PKP than pre-operatively(P<0.01).Three months after treatment,VAS and Oswestry functional score in the experimental group were lower than controls(P<0.05),even though vertebral height and Cobb's angle were comparable(P>0.05).CONCLUSION:PKP combined with oral ZSGK provide superior short-term and long-term symptom control after OVCF than PKP alone. | Zhenjun Huang Lijian Zhang | 2012 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2012,32,4: | 13 |

| 7 | Composition and Distributions of Nitrogen and Phosphorus and Assessment of Eutrophication Status in the Maowei Sea显示文摘Maowei Sea(MWS) is the largest oyster maricuture bay in Southwest China. Surface water from 12 sampling sites were collected during the dry season to study the composition and distribution of different forms of nitrogen(N) and phosphorus(P) beginning from the inner bay to the bay mouth in the MWS. An improved multi-parameter eutrophication index was developed and applied for the evaluation of the water quality in the MWS. Dissolved inorganic nitrogen(DIN), dissolved organic nitrogen(DON), and particulate nitrogen(PN) averagely accounted for 11.28%, 65.32%, and 23.39% of total N(TN) pool, dissolved inorganic phosphorus(DIP), dissolved organic phosphorus(DOP), and particulate phosphorus(PP) averagely accounted for 54.58%, 30.31%, and 15.12% of total P(TP) pool, respectively. DON and DIP were respectively the dominant forms of N and P in surface water of the MWS, during the study period. Concentration trends of DIN, DIP, DOP, PN, dissolved silicate(DSi), total organic carbon(TOC), chemical oxygen demand(COD) decreased from the inner bay to the bay mouth, suggesting that the MWS may be largely influenced by land-based inputs. Based on nutrient contents and stoichiometry, it likely that phytoplankton growth in the MWS is strongly limited by DIP during the dry season. Results from the improved eutrophication index revealed that the water quality in the MWS is in a state of moderate to poor eutrophication(average EI = 0.953). The eutrophication state decreased from the inner bay to the bay mouth. | 8 | Anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of Yaotuitong Capsules in experimental rats with chemically induced radicular neuritis显示文摘OBJECTIVE:The aims of this study were to determine the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects of Yaotuitong(translation:low back and leg pain) capsules,a Chinese herbal preparation,and the histological changes it induces in experimental rats with chemically induced radicular neuritis.METHODS:Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal,model,Western medicine,and traditional Chinese medicine groups(n=24 per group).We surgically duplicated a chemical radicular neuritis model to simulate lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion.Granuloma formation was measured on postoperative days(PODs) 3,7,14,and 21.Prostaglandin E 2 and 5-hydroxytryptamine(inflammation mediators) levels in the surrounding tissue and the histology of the nerve root were determined on PODs 7 and 14.RESULTS:Yaotuitong capsules significantly reduced prostaglandin E 2(P<0.01) and 5-hydroxytryptamine(P<0.01)levels in tissue surrounding the nerve root.It also inhibited granuloma formation(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Yaotuitong capsules have anti-in-flammatory and analgesic effects that can alleviate the discomfort of lumbar intervertebral disc protrusion. | Qingchang Xing Zhenjun Huang Jianfu Zhang | 2012 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2012,32,3: | 3 |
| 9 | Spatial variations in the trophic status of Favia palauensis corals in the South China Sea:Insights into their different adaptabilities under contrasting environmental conditions显示文摘Scleractinian corals exhibit a dual trophic pattern of autotrophic photosynthesis and heterotrophic predation.However,whether corals can adjust their trophic status under contrasting environmental conditions remains unclear.In our study,70 scleractinian corals(Favia palauensis)were collected from Sanya and the Xisha and Nansha Islands in the South China Sea.We measured the zooxanthellae density(ZD)andδ^(13)C of zooxanthellae(δ^(13)C_(z))and host tissue(δ^(13)C_(h))and analyzed the difference betweenδ^(13)C_(h) andδ^(13)C_(z)(i.e.,△^(h-z)^(13)C).The relatively high ZD andδ^(13)C_(z) values in the samples from Sanya indicate that these corals might have higher photosynthetic rates and autotrophic abilities than those from Xisha and Nansha.In contrast,the relatively lowδ^(13)C_(h) and△^(h-z)^(13)C values in the samples from Xisha and Nansha suggest that these corals might have a higher heterotrophic ability than those from Sanya.In addition,we tested the coral tissue biomass and skeletalδ^(13)C(δ^(13)C_(s))in the samples from Sanya and examined their correlations with△^(h-z)^(13)C.The results showed a negative correlation,indicating that the more the organic material produced by the coral,the stronger its heterotrophic ability.Our results show that corals can adjust their trophic status under different environmental and physiological conditions,which is essential for increasing their adaptability to different environmental conditions. | Shendong XU Zhinan ZHANG Kefu YU Xueyong HUANG Hanji CHEN Zhenjun QIN Risheng LIANG | 2021 | Science China Earth Sciences2021,64,6: | 2 |

| 20 | Novel pegiviruses infecting wild birds and rodents显示文摘Pegivirus(family Flaviviridae)is a genus of small enveloped RNA viruses that mainly causes blood infections in various mammals including human.Herein,we carried out an extensive survey of pegiviruses from a wide range of wild animals mainly sampled in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau of China.Three novel pegiviruses,namely Passer montanus pegivirus,Leucosticte brandti pegivirus and Montifringilla taczanowskii pegivirus,were identified from different wild birds,and one new rodent pegivirus,namely Phaiomys leucurus pegivirus,was identified from Blyth's vole.Interestingly,the pegiviruses of non-mammalian origin discovered in this study substantially broaden the host range of Pegivirus to avian species.Co-evolutionary analysis showed virus-host co-divergence over long evolutionary timescales,and indicated that pegiviruses largely followed a virus-host co-divergence relationship.Overall,this work extends the biodiversity of the Pegivirus genus to those infecting wild birds and hence revises the host range and evolutionary history of genus Pegivirus. | Wentao Zhu Jing Yang Shan Lu Yuyuan Huang Dong Jin Ji Pua Liyun Liu Zhenjun Li Mang Shi Jianguo Xu | 2022 | Virologica Sinica2022,37,2: | 0 |
