| 1 | A Survey on Terahertz Communications显示文摘With the exponential growth of the data traffic in wireless communication systems, terahertz(THz) frequency band is envisioned as a promising candidate to support ultra-broadband for future beyond fifth generation(5G), bridging the gap between millimeter wave(mmWave) and optical frequency ranges. The purpose of this paper is to provide a comprehensive literature review on the development towards THz communications and presents some key technologies faced in THz wireless communication systems. Firstly, despite the substantial hardware problems that have to be developed in terms of the THz solid state superheterodyne receiver, high speed THz modulators and THz antennas, the practical THz channel model and the efficient THz beamforming are also described to compensate for the severe path attenuation. Moreover, two different kinds of lab-level THz communication systems are introduced minutely, named a solid state THz communication system and a spatial direct modulation THz communication system, respectively. The solid state THz system converts intermediate frequency(IF) modulated signal to THz frequency while the direct modulation THz system allows the high power THz sources to input for approving the relatively long distance communications. | 2 | The Research on 220GHz Multicarrier High-Speed Communication System显示文摘This paper presents our investigation into a 220 GHz multicarrier highspeed communication system based on solid state transceivers.The proposed system has eased the demand of high sampling rate analog-to-digital converter(ADC)by providing several signal carriers in microwave band and converting them to 220 GHz channel.The system consists of a set of 220 GHz solid-state transceiver with 2 signal carriers,two basebands for 4 GSPS ADCs.It has achieved 12.8 Gbps rate real-time signal transmission using 16QAM modulation over a distance of 20 m without any other auxiliary equipment or test instruments.The baseband algorithm overcomes the problem of frequency difference generates by non-coherent structure,which guarantees the feasibility of long-distance transmission application.Most importantly,the proposed system has already carried out multi-channel 8K video parallel transmission through switch equipment,which shows the multicarrier high-speed communication system in submillimeter wave has great application prospects.To the best of the authors’knowledge,this is the first all-solid-state electronics multicarrier communication system in submillimeter and terahertz band. | Zhongqian Niu Bo Zhang Jiale Wang Ke Liu Zhi Chen Ke Yang Zhen Zhou Yong Fan Yaohui Zhang Dongfeng Ji Yinian Feng Yang Liu | 2020 | China Communications2020,17,3: | 5 |
| 3 | 220 GHz Multi Circuit Integrated Front End Based on Solid-State Circuits for High Speed Communication System显示文摘This paper presents the research on a 220 GHz multi circuit inte-grated front end based on solidstate circuits. This integrated front end integrates a 220 GHz subharmonic mixer, a 110 GHz tripler, a 110 GHz 8 d B hybrid coupler and a 220 GHz waveguide bandpass filter(BPF) in one single block. Compared to the traditional transceivers which usually use cascade connection of the independent mixers and multipliers, the size of the proposed multi circuit integrated front-end block is 25 mm × 20 mm × 20 mm, ten times smaller than the cascading transceiver. In order to check the tripler’s output power, a modified compact 110 GHz 8 d B hybrid coupler is set between mixer and tripler. Due to the characteristics of the hybrid coupler, the deterioration of cascading transceiver’s performance caused by mismatch has also been improved. In addition, to achieve single sideband(SSB) communication, a 220 GHz BPF with high selectivity is integrated in the circuit. The measured conversion loss of the fabricated multi circuit integrated front end is less than 11 d B, where the LO and RF frequency are 37 and 210-220 GHz. | 6 | A mechanical reliability study of 3-dB waveguide hybrid couplers in submillimeter and terahertz bands显示文摘This paper presents a mechanical reliability study of 3-dB waveguide hybrid couplers in submillimeter and terahertz bands.To show the necessity of improving the mechanical properties of the coupler’s branch in submillimeter and terahertz bands,a comprehensive study regarding the displacement of hybrid branch variation with varying width-length ratio and height-length ratio has been completed.In addition,a modified 3-dB waveguide hybrid coupler is designed and presented.Compared with the traditional branch structure,the proposed hybrid consists of a modified middle branch with circular cutouts at the top and bottom on both sides instead of the traditional rectangle branch,which increases the branch size and improves its mechanical reliability while achieving the same performance.Simulation results show that the deformation of the modified hybrid branch is 22%less than those of other traditional structure designs under the same stress.In practice,a vibration experiment is set up to verify the mechanical reliability of hybrid couplers.Measurement results show that the experiment deteriorates the coupling performance.Experimental results verify that the performance of the novel structure coupler is better than that of a traditional structure branch hybrid coupler under the same electrical properties. | Zhongqian NIU Bo ZHANG Daotong LI Dongfeng JI Yang LIU Yinian FENG Tianchi ZHOU Yaohui ZHANG Yong FAN | 2021 | Frontiers of Information Technology & Electronic Engineering2021,22,8: | 0 |
