1Failure mechanism and coupled static-dynamic loading theory in deep hard rock mining: A review显示文摘Rock failure phenomena,such as rockburst,slabbing(or spalling) and zonal disintegration,related to deep underground excavation of hard rocks are frequently reported and pose a great threat to deep mining.Currently,the explanation for these failure phenomena using existing dynamic or static rock mechanics theory is not straightforward.In this study,new theory and testing method for deep underground rock mass under coupled static-dynamic loading are introduced.Two types of coupled loading modes,i.e.'critical static stress + slight disturbance' and 'elastic static stress + impact disturbance',are proposed,and associated test devices are developed.Rockburst phenomena of hard rocks under coupled static-dynamic loading are successfully reproduced in the laboratory,and the rockburst mechanism and related criteria are demonstrated.The results of true triaxial unloading compression tests on granite and red sandstone indicate that the unloading can induce slabbing when the confining pressure exceeds a certain threshold,and the slabbing failure strength is lower than the shear failure strength according to the conventional Mohr-Column criterion.Numerical results indicate that the rock unloading failure response under different in situ stresses and unloading rates can be characterized by an equivalent strain energy density.In addition,we present a new microseismic source location method without premeasuring the sound wave velocity in rock mass,which can efficiently and accurately locate the rock failure in hard rock mines.Also,a new idea for deep hard rock mining using a non-explosive continuous mining method is briefly introduced.Xibing Li Fengqiang Gong Ming Tao Longjun Dong Kun Du Chunde Ma Zilong Zhou Tubing Yin 2017Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2017,9,4:68
2Mapping wetland changes in China between 1978 and 2008显示文摘Four wetland maps for all China have been produced,based on Landsat and CBERS-02B remote sensing data between 1978 and 2008 (1978,1990,2000 and 2008).These maps were mainly developed by manual interpretation and validated by substantial field investigation in 2009.Based on these maps,we analyzed the 2008 wetland distribution in China and discussed wetland changes and their drivers over the past 30 years.(i) There were about 324097 km 2 of wetlands in 2008,for which inland marshes or swamps were the most common wetland type (35%),with lakes (26%) second.Most of the wetlands were in Heilongjiang,Inner Mongolia,Qinghai and Tibet,occupying about 55% of the national wetland area.(ii) From 1978 to 2008,China's wetland area continually and significantly decreased,by about 33% based on changes in the wetland map.This was in sharp contrast to the increase in artificial wetlands,which increased by about 122%.Inland marshes accounted for the main loss of total wetlands from 1978 to 2000.From 2000 through 2008,riverine and lacustrine wetlands constituted the main wetland loss.Fortunately however,the rate of wetland loss decreased from 5523 to 831 km 2 /a.(iii) The change ratio of lost natural wetlands (including inland and coastal wetlands) to non-wetlands has decreased slightly over the past 30 years.From 1978 to 1990,nearly all natural wetlands (98%) lost were transformed into non-wetlands.However,the ratio declined to 86% from 1990 to 2000,and to 77% from 2000 to 2008.(iv) All Chinese provinces were divided into three groups according to patterns of wetland changes,which could relate to the driving forces of such changes.Tibet was completely different from other provinces,as it was one representative example in which there was a net wetland increase,because of global warming and decreased human activity since 1990.Increased economic development caused considerable wetland loss in most eastern provinces,and artificial wetlands increased.NIU ZhenGuo ZHANG HaiYing WANG XianWei YAO WenBo ZHOU DeMin ZHAO KuiYi ZHAO Hui LI NaNa HUANG HuaBing LI CongCong YANG Jun LIU CaiXia LIU Shuang WANG Lin LI Zhan YANG ZhenZhong QIAO Fei ZHENG YaoMin CHEN YanLei SHENG YongWei GAO XiaoHong ZHU WeiHong WANG WenQing WANG Hong WENG YongLing ZHUANG DaFang LIU JiYuan LUO ZhiCai CHENG Xiao GUO ZiQi GONG Peng 2012Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,22:51
32018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents显示文摘Syncope belongs to the transient loss of consciousness(TLOC), characterized by a rapid onset, short duration, and spontaneous complete recovery. It is common in children and adolescents, accounting for 1% to 2% of emergency department visits.Recurrent syncope can seriously affect children's physical and mental health, learning ability and quality of life and sometimes cardiac syncope even poses a risk of sudden death. The present guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was developed for guiding a better clinical management of pediatric syncope. Based on the globally recent development and the evidence-based data in China, 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was jointly prepared by the Pediatric Cardiology Society, Chinese Pediatric Society, Chinese Medical Association(CMA)/Committee on Pediatric Syncope, Pediatricians Branch, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Committee on Pediatric Cardiology, Chinese College of Cardiovascular Physicians, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Pediatric Cardiology Society, Beijing Pediatric Society, Beijing Medical Association(BMA). 6Reactive oxygen species signaling and stomatal movement in plant responses to drought stress and pathogen attack显示文摘Stomata, the pores formed by a pair of guard cells, are the main gateways for water transpiration and photosynthetic CO_2 exchange, as well as pathogen invasion in land plants. Guard cell movement is regulated by a combination of environmental factors, including water status, light, CO_2 levels and pathogen attack, as well as endogenous signals, such as abscisic acid and apoplastic reactive oxygen species(ROS). Under abiotic and bioticstress conditions, extracellular ROS are mainly produced by plasma membrane-localized NADPH oxidases, whereas intracellular ROS are produced in multiple organelles. These ROS form a sophisticated cellular signaling network, with the accumulation of apoplastic ROS an early hallmark of stomatal movement. Here, we review recent progress in understanding the molecular mechanisms of the ROS signaling network,primarily during drought stress and pathogen attack. We summarize the roles of apoplastic ROS in regulating stomatal movement, ABA and CO_2 signaling, and immunity responses.Finally, we discuss ROS accumulation and communication between organelles and cells. 7Ginsenoside Rgl protects against ischemic/reperfusioninduced neuronal injury through miR-144/Nrf2/ARE pathway显示文摘Ginsenoside Rg1 (Rg1),a saponin extracted from Panax ginseng,has been well documented to be effective against ischemic/ reperfusion (I/R)neuronal injury.However,the underlying mechanisms remain obscure.In the present study,we investigated the roles of Nrf2 and miR-144 in the protective effects of Rgl against I/R-induced neuronal injury.In OGD/R-treated PC12 cells,Rgl (0.01-1 μmol/L)dose-dependently attenuated the cell injury accompanied by prolonging nuclear accumulation of Nrf2,enhancing the transcriptional activity of Nrf2,as well as promoting the expression of ARE-target genes.The activation of the Nrf2/ARE pathway by Rgl was independent of disassociation with Keapl,but resulted from post-translational regulations.Knockdown of Nrf2 abolished all the protective changes of Rgl in OG-D/R-treated PC12 cells.Furthermore,Rgl treatment significantly decreased the expression of miR-144,which downregulated Nrf2 production by targeting its 3'-untranlated region after OGD/R.Knockdown of Nrf2 had no effect on the expression of miR-144,suggesting that miR-144 was an upstream regulator of Nrf2.We revealed that there was a direct binding between Nrf2 and miR-144 in PC12 cells.Application of anti-miR-144 occluded the activation of the Nrf2/ ARE pathway by Rgl in OGD/R-treated PC12 cells.In tMCAO rats,administration of Rgl (20 mg/kg).significantly alleviated ischemic injury,and activated Nff2/ARE pathway.The protective effects of Rgl were abolished by injecting of AAV-HIF-miR-144-shRNA into the predicted ischemic penumbra.In conclusion,our results demonstrate that Rgl alleviates oxidative,stress after I/R through inhibiting miR-144 activity and subsequently promoting the Nrf2/ARE pathway at the post-translational-level.Shi-feng Chu Zhao Zhang Xin Zhou Wen-bin He Chen Chen Piao Luo Dan-dan Liu Qi-di Ai Hai-fan Gong Zhen-zhen Wang Hong-shuo Sun Zhong-ping Feng Nai-hong Chen 2019Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2019,40,1:30
8China's wetland change (1990-2000) determined by remote sensing显示文摘Two wetland maps for the entire China have been produced based on Landsat data acquired around 1990 and 2000. Wetlands in China have been divided into 3 broad categories with 15 sub-categories except rice fields. In 1990, the total wetland area in China was 355208 km2 whereas in 2000 it dropped to 304849 km2 with a net loss of 50360 km2. During an approximate 10-year period, inland wetland reduced from 318326 to 257922 km2, coastal wetland dropped from 14335 to 12015 km2, while artificial wetland increased from 22546 to 34911 km2. The greatest natural wetland loss occurred in Heilongjiang, Inner Mon- golia, and Jilin with a total loss of over 57000 km2 of wetland. In western China, over 13000 km2 of wetlands were newly formed in Xinjiang, Tibet, and Qinghai. About 12000 km2 of artificial wetlands were also added for fish farm and reservoir constructions. The newly formed wetlands in western China were caused primarily by climate warming over that region whereas the newly created artificial wetlands were caused by economic developments. 10Expenditure and financial burden for the diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer in China:a hospital.based,multicenter,cross-sectional survey显示文摘Background: The increasing prevalence of colorectal cancer(CRC) in China and the paucity of information about relevant expenditure highlight the necessity of better understanding the financial burden and effect of CRC diagnosis and treatment. We performed a survey to quantify the direct medical and non-medical expenditure as well as the resulting financial burden of CRC patients in China.Methods: We conducted a multicenter, cross-sectional survey in 37 tertiary hospitals in 13 provinces across China between 2012 and 2014. Each enrolled patient was interviewed using a structured questionnaire. All expenditure data were inflated to the 2014 Chinese Yuan(CNY; 1 CNY = 0.163 USD). We quantified the overall expenditure and financial burden and by subgroup(hospital type, age at diagnosis, sex, education, occupation, insurance type, household income, clinical stage, pathologic type, and therapeutic regimen). We then performed generalized linear modeling to determine the factors associated with overall expenditure.Results: A total of 2356 patients with a mean age of 57.4 years were included, 57.1 % of whom were men; 13.9% of patients had stage I cancer; and the average previous-year household income was 54,525 CNY.The overall average direct expenditure per patient was estimated to be 67,408 CNY, and the expenditures for stage Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, and Ⅳ disease were 56,099 CNY, 59,952 CNY, 67,292 CNY, and 82,729 CNY, respectively. Non-medical expenditure accounted for 8.3%of the overall expenditure. The 1-year out-of-pocket expenditure of a newly diagnosed patient was 32,649 CNY, which accounted for 59.9% of their previous-year household income and caused 75.0% of families to suffer an unmanageable financial burden. Univariate analysis showed that financial burden and overall expenditure differed in almost all subgroups(P < 0.05), except for sex. Multivariate analysis showed that patients who were treated in specialized hospitals and those who were diagnosed with adenocarcinoma or diagnosed at a later stage were likely to spend more,whereas those with a lower household income and those who underwent surgery spent less(all P < 0.05).Conclusions: For patients in China, direct expenditure for the diagnosis and treatment of CRC seemed catastrophic,and non-medical expenditure was non-ignorable. 13Laboratory culture of the freshwater benthic gastropod Bellamya aeruginosa (Reeve) and its utility as a test species for sediment toxicity显示文摘This study aimed to develop original laboratory culture and sediment toxicity testing protocols for the freshwater gastropod Bellamya aeruginosa(Reeve),a new potential species for sediment toxicity testing.B.aeruginosa was successfully cultured with an effective culture system under proposed laboratory conditions.Optimal ad libitum feeding levels for larvae,juveniles,and adults were 2.0,6.0,and 16.0 mg fish food/(snail·day),respectively.Mean survival rates of juveniles were higher than 90%.The snails could be sexed at 9 weeks of age,and their generation time is approximately 4 months.Reproduction continued all year around;the mean fecundity was 0.55 newborn/(female·day).The utility of this species for bioassays was evaluated in both 10-day and 28-day case studies with artificial sediments.The 10-day LC50 of Cu for larvae was 480 μg/g dry weight(dw),and the lowest observed effects concentration of Cu for survival and growth of larvae was 195 μg/g dw.Survival and growth are reliable indicators of acute toxicity.Larvae accumulated more Cu than adults.B.aeruginosa exhibited a higher sensitivity to Cu exposure than standard test species(Hyalella azteca and Chironomus tentans).The 28-day test of sediment toxicity with adults showed that fecundity was a robust endpoint indicator of reproductive toxicity,and the biochemical endpoints of superoxide dismutase,catalase,and glutathione could be used as sensitive biomarkers for Cu-induced oxidative damage.B.aeruginosa can be therefore recommended as a candidate for the standardization of the freshwater sediment toxicity test protocol.Taowu Ma Shuangjiao Gong Ke Zhou Cheng Zhu Kaidong Deng Qinghua Luo Zijian Wang 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,2:22

17Cardiotoxicity of 5-fluorouracil and capecitabine in Chinese patients: a prospective study显示文摘Background:5-Fluorouracil(5-FU)and capecitabine-associated cardiotoxicity ranging from asymptomatic electro-cardiography(ECG)abnormalities to severe myocardial infarction has been reported in a number of studies,but such cardiotoxicity in Chinese patients with malignant diseases has not been investigated to date.In the present study,we aimed to prospectively evaluate the incidence rates and clinical manifestations of 5-FU-and capecitabine-associated cardiotoxicity in cancer patients recruited from multiple centers in China.Methods:Among the 527 patients who completed the study,196 received 5-FU-based chemotherapy and 331 received capecitabine-based chemotherapy as either first-line or adjuvant therapy.Adverse events were reported during the treatment and up to 28 days of follow-up.Outcome measures included ECG,myocardial enzymes,cardiac troponin,brain natriuretic peptide and echocardiography.Univariate analysis and logistic regression were performed for subgroup analysis and identification of significant independent variables that are associated with cardiotoxicity of both agents.Results:In total,161 of 527 patients(30.6%)experienced cardiotoxicity.The incidence rate of cardiotoxicity was 33.8%(112/331)in the capecitabine group,which was significantly higher than the rate of 25%(49/196)in the 5-FU group(P=0.0042).110/527 patients(20.9%)suffered arrhythmia,105/527(19.9%)developed ischemic changes,while only 20/527 patients(3.8%)presented heart failure and 6/527 patients(1.1%)had myocardial infarction.Pre-existing cardiac disease,hypertension,capecitabine-based chemotherapy and duration of treatment were identified as sig-nificant risk factors associated with cardiotoxicity.The odds ratio were 15.7(prior history of cardiac disease versus no history),1.86(capecitabine versus 5-FU),1.06(5-8 versus 1-4 chemotherapy cycles)and 1.58(hypertension versus no hypertension),respectively.Conclusions:Cardiotoxicity induced by fluoropyrimidines in the Chinese population may be underestimated in clini-cal practice.Close monitoring of patients is recommended,especially for those patients at high risk for cardiotoxicity.Possible risk factors are duration of treatment,capecitabine-based chemotherapy,pre-existing cardiac diseases and hypertension.Trial registration This study was initiated on January 22,2014 and has been retrospectively registered with the registra-tion number ChiCTR1800015434 .Jianjun Peng Chao Dong Chang Wang Weihua Li Hao Yu Min Zhang Qun Zhao Bo Zhu Jun Zhang Wenliang Li Fenghua Wang Qiong Wu Wenhao Zhou Ying Yuan Meng Qiu Gong Chen 2018Cancer Communications2018,38,1:23
18Comprehensive mutation screening for 10 genes in Chinese patients suffering very early onset inflammatory bowel disease显示文摘AIM: To perform sequencing analysis in patients with very early-onset inflammatory bowel disease(VEO-IBD) to determine the genetic basis for VEO-IBD in Chinese pediatric patients.METHODS: A total of 13 Chinese pediatric patients with VEO-IBD were diagnosed from May 2012 and August 2014. The relevant clinical characteristics of these patients were analyzed. Then DNA in the peripheral blood from patients was extracted. Next generation sequencing(NGS) based on an IlluminaMiseq platform was used to analyze the exons in the coding regions of 10 candidate genes: IL-10, IL-10 RA, IL-10 RB, NOD2, FUT2, IL23 R, GPR35, GPR65, TNFSF15, and ADAM30. The Sanger sequencing was used to verify the variations detected in NGS.RESULTS: Out of the 13 pediatric patients, ten were diagnosed with Crohn's disease, and three diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Mutations in IL-10 RA and IL-10 RB were detected in five patients. There were four patients who had single nucleotide polymorphisms associated with IBD. Two patients had IL-10 RA andFUT2 polymorphisms, and two patients had IL-10 RB and FUT2 polymorphisms. Gene variations were not found in the rest four patients. Children with mutations had lower percentile body weight(1.0% vs 27.5%, P = 0.002) and hemoglobin(87.4 g/L vs 108.5 g/L, P = 0.040) when compared with children without mutations. Although the age of onset was earlier, height was shorter, and the response to treatment was poorer in the mutation group, there was no significant difference in these factors between groups.CONCLUSION: IL-10 RA and IL-10 RB mutations are common in Chinese children with VEO-IBD. 20Th immune response induced by H pylori vaccine with chitosan as adjuvant and its relation to immune protection显示文摘AIM:To study the immunological protective effect of H pylori vaccine with chitosan as an adjuvant and its mechanism.METHODS:Female BALB/c mice were randomly divided into seven groups and orally immunized respectively with PBS,chitosan solution,chitosan particles,H pylori antigen,H pylori antigen plus cholera toxin(CT),H pylori antigen plus chitosan solution,H pylori antigen plus chitosan particles once a week for four weeks.Four weeks after the last immunization,the mice were challenged twice by alive H pylori(1 × 109 CFU/mL)and sacrificed.Part of the gastric mucosa was embedded in paraffin,cut into sections and assayed with Giemsa staining.Part of the gastric mucosa was used to quantitatively culture H pylori.ELISA was used to detect cytokine level in gastric mucosa and anti-H pylori IgG1,IgG2a levels in serum.RESULTS:In the groups with chitosan as an adjuvant,immunological protection was achieved in 60% mice,which was significantly higher than in groups with H pylori antigen alone and without H pylori antigen(P < 0.05 or 0.001).Before challenge,the level of IFN and IL-12 in gastric mucosa was significantly higher in the groups with chitosan as an adjuvant than in the control group and the group without adjuvant(P < 0.05 or 0.005).After challenge,the level of IFN and IL-12 was significantly higher in the groups with adjuvant than in the groups without adjuvant and antigen(P < 0.05 or 0.001).Before challenge,the level of IL-2 in gastric mucosa was not different among different groups.Afterchallenge the level of IL-2 was significantly higher in the groups with adjuvant than in the control group(P < 0.05 or 0.001).Before challenge,the level of IL-10 in gastric mucosa was significantly higher in the groups with chitosan as an adjuvant than in other groups without adjuvant(P < 0.05 or 0.01).After challenge,the level of IL-10 was not different among different groups.Before challenge,the level of IL-4 in gastric mucosa was significantly higher in the groups with chitosan as an adjuvant than in other groups without adjuvant(P < 0.05).After challenge,the level of IL-4 was significantly higher in the groups with chitosan particles as an adjuvant than in the group with CT as an adjuvant(P < 0.05),and in the group with chitosan solution as an adjuvant,the level of IL-4 was significantly higher than that in control group,non-adjuvant group and the groups with CT(P < 0.05 or 0.001).The ratio of anti-H pylori IgG2a/IgG1 in serum was significantly lower in the groups with chitosan as an adjuvant than in the groups with CT as an adjuvant or without adjuvant(P < 0.01).CONCLUSION:H pylori vaccine with chitosan as an adjuvant can protect against H pylori infection and induce both Th1 and Th2 type immune response.Yong Xie Nan-Jin Zhou Yan-Feng Gong Xiao-Jiang Zhou Jiang Chen Si-Juan Hu Nong-Hua Lu Xiao-Hua Hou 2007World Journal of Gastroenterology2007,13,10:18
