2Laboratory culture of the freshwater benthic gastropod Bellamya aeruginosa (Reeve) and its utility as a test species for sediment toxicity显示文摘This study aimed to develop original laboratory culture and sediment toxicity testing protocols for the freshwater gastropod Bellamya aeruginosa(Reeve),a new potential species for sediment toxicity testing.B.aeruginosa was successfully cultured with an effective culture system under proposed laboratory conditions.Optimal ad libitum feeding levels for larvae,juveniles,and adults were 2.0,6.0,and 16.0 mg fish food/(snail·day),respectively.Mean survival rates of juveniles were higher than 90%.The snails could be sexed at 9 weeks of age,and their generation time is approximately 4 months.Reproduction continued all year around;the mean fecundity was 0.55 newborn/(female·day).The utility of this species for bioassays was evaluated in both 10-day and 28-day case studies with artificial sediments.The 10-day LC50 of Cu for larvae was 480 μg/g dry weight(dw),and the lowest observed effects concentration of Cu for survival and growth of larvae was 195 μg/g dw.Survival and growth are reliable indicators of acute toxicity.Larvae accumulated more Cu than adults.B.aeruginosa exhibited a higher sensitivity to Cu exposure than standard test species(Hyalella azteca and Chironomus tentans).The 28-day test of sediment toxicity with adults showed that fecundity was a robust endpoint indicator of reproductive toxicity,and the biochemical endpoints of superoxide dismutase,catalase,and glutathione could be used as sensitive biomarkers for Cu-induced oxidative damage.B.aeruginosa can be therefore recommended as a candidate for the standardization of the freshwater sediment toxicity test protocol.Taowu Ma Shuangjiao Gong Ke Zhou Cheng Zhu Kaidong Deng Qinghua Luo Zijian Wang 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,2:22
3MicroRNAs Involved in Skeletal Muscle Differentiation显示文摘MicroRNAs (miRNAs) negatively regulate gene expression by promoting degradation of target mRNAs or inhibiting their translation. Previous studies have expanded our understanding that miRNAs play an important role in myogenesis and have a big impact on muscle mass, muscle fiber type and muscle-related diseases. The muscle-specific miRNAs, miR-206, miR-1 and miR-133, are among the most studied and best characterized miRNAs in skeletal muscle differentiation. They have a profound influence on multiple muscle differ-entiation processes, such as alternative splicing, DNA synthesis, and cell apoptosis. Many non-muscle-specific miRNAs are also required for the differentiation of muscle through interaction with myogenic factors. 4Discrimination of abiogenic and biogenic alkane gases显示文摘We have combined the analytical data of the carbon isotope distribution pattern, R/Ra and CH4/3He values of abiogenic and biogenic (referring to the thermogenic and bacterial or microbial) alkane gases in China with those of alkane gases from USA, Russia, Germany, Australia and other countries. 6Feed conversion ratio,residual feed intake and cholecystokinin type A receptor gene polymorphisms are associated with feed intake and average daily gain in a Chinese local chicken population显示文摘Background: The feed conversion ratio(FCR) and residual feed intake(RFI) are common indexes in measuring feed efficiency for livestock. RFI is a feed intake adjusted for requirements for maintenance and production so these two traits are related. Similarly, FCR is related to feed intake and weight gain because it is their ratio. Cholecystokinin type A receptor(CCKAR) plays an important role in animal digestive process. We examined the interplay of these three parameters in a local Chinese chicken population.Results: The feed intake(FI) and body weights(BW) of 1,841 individuals were monitored on a daily basis from 56 to 105 d of age. There was a strong correlation between RFI and average daily feed intake(ADFI) and a negative correlation between the FCR and daily gain(r_g=-0.710). Furthermore, we identified 51 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) in the CCKAR and 4 of these resulted in amino acid mutations. The C334A mutation was specifically associated with FI and the expected feed intake(EFI)(P < 0.01) and significantly associated with the average daily gain(ADG)(P < 0.05). G1290A was significantly associated with FI and EFI(P < 0.05).Conclusion: FCR is apply to weight selecting, and RFI is more appropriate if the breeding focus is feed intake. 7Regulatory mechanism of hormones of the pituitary-target gland axes in kidney-Yang deficiency based on a support vector machine model显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To study the development mechanism of kidney-Yang deficiency through the establishment of support vector machine models of relevant hormones of the pituitary-target gland axes in rats with kidney-Yang deficiency syndrome.METHODS:The kidney-Yang deficiency rat model was created by intramuscular injection of hydrocortisone,and contents of the hormones of the pituita- ry-thyroid axis:thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH),3,3',5-triiodothyronine(T_3) and thyroxine(T_4);hormones of the pituitary-adrenal gland axis:adrenocorticotropic hormone(ACTH) and Cortisol(CORT);and hormones of the pituitary-gonadal axis:luteinizing hormone(LH),follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH),and testosterone(T),were determined in the early,middle,and advanced stages.Ten support vector regression(SVR) models of the hormones were established to analyze the mutual relationships among the hormones of the three axes.RESULTS:The feedback control action of the pituitary-adrenal axis began to lose efficacy from the middle stage of kidney-Kong deficiency.The contents all hormones of the three pituitary-target gland axes decreased in the advanced stage.Relative errors of the jackknife test of the SVR models all were less than 10%.CONCLUSION:Imbalances in mutual regulation among the hormones of the pituitary-target gland axes,especially loss of effectiveness of the pituitary-adrenal axis,is one pathogenesis of kidney-Yang deficiency.The SVR model can accurately reflect the complicated non-linear relationships among pituitary-target gland axes in rats with of kidney-Yang deficiency.Wang Xiufeng Zhang Lei Huang Rongbo Wu Qinghua Min Jianxin Ma Na Luo Laicheng 2015Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,2:7

10Segmentation algorithm for Hangzhou white chrysanthemums based on least squares support vector machine显示文摘In order to realize the visual positioning for Hangzhou white chrysanthemums harvesting robot in natural environment,a color image segmentation method for Hangzhou white chrysanthemum based on least squares support vector machine(LS-SVM)was proposed.Firstly,bilateral filter was used to filter the RGB channels image respectively to eliminate noise.Then the pixel-level color feature and texture feature of the image,which was used as input of LS-SVM model(classifier)and SVM model(classifier),were extracted via RGB value of image and gray level co-occurrence matrix.Finally,the color image was segmented with the trained LS-SVM model(classifier)and SVM model(classifier)separately.The experimental results showed that the trained LS-SVM model and SVM model could effectively segment the images of the Hangzhou white chrysanthemums from complicated background taken under three illumination conditions such as front-lighting,back-lighting and overshadow,with the accuracy of above 90%.When segmenting an image,the SVM algorithm required 1.3 s,while the LS-SVM algorithm proposed in this paper just needed 0.7 s,which was better than the SVM algorithm obviously.The picking experiment was carried out and the results showed that the implementation of the proposed segmentation algorithm on the picking robot could achieve 81%picking success rate.Qinghua Yang Shaoliang Luo Chun Chang Yi Xun Guanjun Bao 2019International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2019,12,4:3
11A reactive oxygen species burst causes haploid induction in maize显示文摘Haploid induction (HI) is an important tool in crop breeding. Phospholipase A1 (ZmPLA1)/NOT LIKE DAD (NLD)/MATRILINEAL (MTL) is a key gene controlling HI in maize;however, the underlying molecular mechanism remains unclear. In this study, to dissect why loss of ZmPLA1 function could mediate HI we performed a comprehensive multiple omics analysis of zmpla1 mutant anthers by integrating transcriptome, metabolome, quantitative proteome, and protein modification data. Functional classes of significantly enriched or differentially abundant molecular entities were found to be associated with the oxidative stress response, suggesting that a reactive oxygen species (ROS) burst plays a critical role in HI. In support of this, we further discovered that a simple chemical treatment of pollen with ROS reagents could lead to HI. Moreover, we identified ZmPOD65, which encodes a sperm-specific peroxidase, as a new gene controlling HI. 12The effect of SiO_2 particle size on iron based F–T synthesis catalysts显示文摘The effect of particle size of silica, as catalyst binder, on the chemical and mechanical properties of iron based FT catalyst was studied in this work. The samples were characterized using XRD, BET, TEM, FT-IR, and H2-TPR, respectively. The attrition resistance and the FT activity were tested. Si-8–Si-15 catalysts prepared with 8–15 nm silica sol show good attrition resistance(attrition loss b 4%), especially Si-13 with an attrition loss of 1.89%. Hematite appeared in XRD patterns when silica sol above 15 nm is used. TEM micrographs show that no obvious Si O_2 particles appear when silica sol particle with size less than 8 nm was used, but Si O_2 particles coated with small ferrihydrite particles appear when silica sol above 8 nm was used. Si–O–Si vibration peak in FT-IR spectra increases with increasing silica sol size. 15Yielding behavior of triplex medium Mn steel alternated with cooling strategies altering martensite/ferrite interfacial feature显示文摘In this paper, we report the influence of cooling processes on the yielding behavior of a medium Mn steel(MMS) with triplex microstructure, i.e. austenite(γ), ferrite(α) and as-quenched martensite(α’). After the intercritical annealing(IA) at both 725℃ and 750℃, the steel was subjected to the two cooling processes, i.e. air cooling(AC) and water quenching(WQ). It exhibits the discontinuous yielding after the AC following the IA at 750℃ while the continuous yielding after the WQ. Compared with WQ process,both the dilatometry and the microstructural examinations show that the AC process leads to lower Ms temperature, larger retained austenite(RA) fraction and less martensite, the latter is always companied with geometry necessary dislocations(GNDs) generated near the α/α’ interfaces. Considering the complexity of nanosized tri-phases in this steel, the presence of martensite with key features in the resultant specimens was systematically examined by atom probe tomography(APT) on the samples prepared by the specific target lift-out method. The APT results directly revealed the C/Mn co-segregation at the α’/αinterfaces in the AC samples but not in WQ samples. The numerical simulation results further suggest that the segregation of C and Mn at the α’/α interfaces may be due to different mechanisms. We conclude that the yielding of triplex MMS is determined by both the quantity of GNDs generated near theα/α’ interfaces, which increases with martensite fraction, and the extent of their immobilization resulting from the interfacial segregation of solute atoms when the presence of martensite is sufficient. 17Synthesis and oxidation behavior of boron-substituted carbon powders by hot filament chemical vapor deposition显示文摘Boron-substituted carbon powder, BxC1-x with x up to 0.17, has been successfully synthesized by hot filament chemical vapor deposition. The boron concentration in prepared BxC1-x samples can be controlled by varying the relative proportions of methane and diborane. X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and electron energy loss spectrum confirm the successful synthesis of an amorphous BC5 compound, which consists of 10―20 nm particles with disk-like morphology.
