5An SIS Epidemic Model with Stage Structure and a Delay显示文摘A disease transmission model of SIS type with stage structure and a delay is formulated. Stability of the disease free equilibrium, and existence, uniqueness, and stability of an endemic equilibrium, are investigated for the model. The stability results arc stated in terms of a key threshold parameter. The effects of stage structure and time delay on dynamical behavior of the infectious disease are analyzed. 11Coriander Genomics Database:a genomic,transcriptomic,and metabolic database for coriander显示文摘Coriander(Coriandrum sativum L.),also known as cilantro,is a globally important vegetable and spice crop.Its genome and that of carrot are models for studying the evolution of the Apiaceae family.Here,we developed the Coriander Genomics Database(CGDB,http://cgdb.bio2db.com/)to collect,store,and integrate the genomic,transcriptomic,metabolic,functional annotation,and repeat sequence data of coriander and carrot to serve as a central online platform for Apiaceae and other related plants.Using these data sets in the CGDB,we intriguingly found that seven transcription factor(TF)families showed significantly greater numbers of members in the coriander genome than in the carrot genome.The highest ratio of the numbers of MADS TFs between coriander and carrot reached 3.15,followed by those for tubby protein(TUB)and heat shock factors.As a demonstration of CGDB applications,we identified 17 TUB family genes and conducted systematic comparative and evolutionary analyses.RNA-seq data deposited in the CGDB also suggest dose compensation effects of gene expression in coriander.CGDB allows bulk downloading,significance searches,genome browser analyses,and BLAST searches for comparisons between coriander and other plants regarding genomics,gene families,gene collinearity,gene expression,and the metabolome.A detailed user manual and contact information are also available to provide support to the scientific research community and address scientific questions.CGDB will be continuously updated,and new data will be integrated for comparative and functional genomic analysis in Apiaceae and other related plants.Xiaoming Song Fulei Nie Wei Chen Xiao Ma Ke Gong Qihang Yang Jinpeng Wang Nan Li Pengchuan Sun Qiaoying Pei Tong Yu Jingjing Hu Xinyu Li Tong Wu Shuyan Feng Xiu-Qing Li Xiyin Wang 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:4

13Chromosome-level genome assembly,annotation and evolutionary analysis of the ornamental plant Asparagus setaceus显示文摘Asparagus setaceus is a popular ornamental plant cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions globally.Here,we constructed a chromosome-scale reference genome of A.setaceus to facilitate the investigation of its genome characteristics and evolution.Using a combination of Nanopore long reads,Illumina short reads,10×Genomics linked reads,and Hi-C data,we generated a high-quality genome assembly of A.setaceus covering 710.15 Mb,accounting for 98.63%of the estimated genome size.A total of 96.85%of the sequences were anchored to ten superscaffolds corresponding to the ten chromosomes.The genome of A.setaceus was predicted to contain 28,410 genes,25,649(90.28%)of which were functionally annotated.A total of 65.59%of the genome was occupied by repetitive sequences,among which long terminal repeats were predominant(42.51%of the whole genome).Evolutionary analysis revealed an estimated divergence time of A.setaceus from its close relative A.officinalis of~9.66 million years ago,and A.setaceus underwent two rounds of whole-genome duplication.In addition,762 specific gene families,96 positively selected genes,and 76 resistance(R)genes were detected and functionally predicted in A.setaceus.These findings provide new knowledge about the characteristics and evolution of the A.setaceus genome,and will facilitate comparative genetic and genomic research on the genus Asparagus.Shu-Fen Li Jin Wang Ran Dong Hong-Wei Zhu Li-Na Lan Yu-Lan Zhang Ning Li Chuan-Liang Deng Wu-Jun Gao 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:4

18The Incoming Influenza Season—China,the United Kingdom,and the United States,2021–2022显示文摘Introduction:Seasonal influenza activity has declined globally since the widespread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)transmission.There has been scarce information to understand the future dynamics of influenza—and under different hypothesis on relaxation of nonpharmaceutical interventions(NPIs)in particular—after the disruptions to seasonal patterns.Methods:We collected data from public sources in China,the United Kingdom,and the United States,and forecasted the influenza dynamics in the incoming 2021–2022 season under different NPIs.We considered Northern China and Southern China separately,due to the sharp difference in the patterns of seasonal influenza.For the United Kingdom,data were collected for England only.Results:Compared to the epidemics in 2017–2019,longer and blunter influenza outbreaks could occur should NPIs be fully lifted,with percent positivity varying from 10.5 to 18.6 in the studying regions.The rebounds would be smaller if the maskwearing intervention continued or the international mobility stayed low,but sharper if the mask-wearing intervention was lifted in the middle of influenza season.Further,influenza activity could stay low under a much less stringent mask-wearing intervention coordinated with influenza vaccination.Conclusions:The results added to our understandings of future influenza dynamics after the global decline during the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic.In light of the uncertainty on the incoming circulation strains and the relatively low negative impacts of mask wearing on society,our findings suggested that wearing mask could be considered as an accompanying mitigation measure in influenza prevention and control,especially for seasons after long periods of low-exposure to influenza viruses.Seasonal influenza activity declines globally during the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic(1–4).For instance,in China,influenza activity,as measured by percentage of submitted specimens testing positive,dropped from 11.8%to 2.0%in 2020–2021 influenza season,compared to the past 5 years(5).The long-period of low-exposure to influenza viruses adds great uncertainty on preparedness for the incoming 2021–2022 influenza season.Influenza vaccination is one of the most effective measures in seasonal influenza prevention and control,but with only a few influenza viruses circulating,it could be difficult to determine the targeted strains for vaccination.In this context,it is of primary importance to identify alternative mitigation measures for the incoming 2021–2022 influenza season,the first season after long periods of virtually no influenza outbreaks worldwide.Using data from China,the United Kingdom,and the United States,we forecasted the influenza activity in the incoming 2021–2022 influenza season under hypothetical scenarios without non-pharmaceutical interventions(NPIs)and with different assumptions on mask-wearing and mobility levels.Shasha Han Ting Zhang Yan Lyu Shengjie Lai Peixi Dai Jiandong Zheng Weizhong Yang Xiaohua Zhou Luzhao Feng 2021China CDC weekly2021,3,49:3
