1The crustal structures of the central Longmenshan along and its margins as related to the seismotectonics of the 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake显示文摘In 2010,a 500-km-long wide-angle reflection/refraction seismic profile was completed, running northwest from the central Sichuan Basin. This profile orthogonally crosses the meizoseismal area of great Wenchuan earthquake of 12 May 2008,which occurred in the central part of the Longmenshan. The profile also passes through the northwestern Sichuan Plateau, along which a new deep seismic sounding observation system was set up that was much improved over previous datasets and enabled abundant observations to be recorded.Seismic wave phase records that reflect the structural characteristics of different tectonic blocks, especially the complicated phase features associated with the Wenchuan earthquake, were calculated and analyzed in detail.A 2D crustal P-wave velocity model for the orogenic belt in the central Longmenshan and its margins was determined, and crustal structure differences between the stable Sichuan Basin and the thickened northwestern Sichuan Plateau were characterized.Lithological variations within the upper and lower crust in the interior of the plateau, especially a great velocity decrease and plastic rheological properties associated with strong lithologic weakening in lower crust, were detected. From west to east in the lower crust beneath the orogenic belt lying between the Sichuan Basin and the northwestern Sichuan Plateau,a giant shovel-like upwelling is observed that dips gently in the lower part and at higher angles in the upper part;this is inferred to be related to the fault systems in the central Longmenshan. An upwelling in the upper-middle crust along the eastern margin of the orogenic belt is associated with steeply dipping thrusts that strongly uplift the upper crust and crystalline basement beneath a central fault system in the Longmenshan. The data, combined with an understanding of the regional tectonic stress field and previous geological results, enable a discussion of basin-and-range coupling, orogenic tectonics, the crustal fault system, and the seismogenic tectonic environment of the central Longmenshan along the eastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.JIA ShiXu LIU BaoJin XU ZhaoFan LIU Zhi FENG ShaoYing ZHANG JianShi LIN JieYan TIAN XiaoFeng LIU QiaoXia GUO WenBin 2014Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,4:26
2A new way to generate seismic waves for continental crustal exploration显示文摘An airgun experiment was conducted in a reservoir, with the total volume of the airgun array being 6000 cubic inch. The energy released by one excitation was estimated to be 6.68×106 J,which corresponded to a 3.4 kg TNT explosion. A 180 km long profile composed of 100 portable short period seismometers was deployed as a receiver system of the airgun signals. Two remarkable results can be drawn from the experiment: (1) the airgun explosion is harmless to the dam and the fish, and this kind of airguns can be regarded as a green and environmental protection seismic source on land; (2) seismic wave gener-ated by this airgun source can be recorded by permanent stations with offset larger than 200 km. And the wave amplitudes recorded by nearby and remote stations are equivalent to the wave generated by 800 kg dynamite explosion. The airguns can be used as a light to illuminate the continental crustal structure of an area of about 100000 km2.CHEN Yong ZHANG XianKang QIU XueLin GE HongKui LIU BaoJin WANG BaoShan 2007Chinese Science Bulletin2007,52,16:24
32-D P-wave velocity structure of lithosphere in the North China tectonic zone: Constraints from the Yancheng-Baotou deep seismic profile显示文摘We obtained the 2-D P-wave velocity structure of the lithosphere in the eastern North China Craton, Shanxi fault subsidence zone, and Yinchuan-Hetao fault subsidence zone by ray tracking technology based on six groups of clearly identified crustal phases and one group of lithospheric interface reflection phases from seismic recording sections of 21 shots along the 1300-km-long Yancheng-Baotou deep seismic wide-angle reflection/refraction profile. The results indicate significant differences between the lithospheric structure east and west of the Taihang Mountains, which is a gravity-gradient zone as well as a zone of abrupt change in lithospheric thickness and a separation zone of different rock components. East of the Taihang Mountains, the Mesozoic and Cenozoic lithospheric structure of the North China Craton has undergone strong reformation and destruction, resulting in the lithosphere thickness decreasing to 70–80 km. The North China Basin has a very thick Cenozoic sedimentary cover and the deepest point of crystalline basement is about 7.0 km, with the crustal thickness decreasing to about 31.0 km. The crystalline basement of the Luxi uplift zone is relatively shallow with a depth of 1.0–2.0 km and crustal thickness of 33.0–35.0 km. The Subei Basin has a thicker Cenozoic sedimentary cover and the bottom of its crystalline basement is at about 5.0–6.0 km with a crustal thickness of 31.0–32.0 km. The Tanlu fault is a deep fracture which cuts the lithosphere with a significant velocity structure difference on either side of the fault. The Tanlu fault plays an important role in the lithospheric destruction in the eastern part of the North China Craton. West of the Taihang Mountains, the crustal thickness increases significantly. The crust thickness beneath the Shanxi fault depression zone is about 46 km, and there is a low-velocity structure with a velocity of less than 6.1 km s?? in the upper part of the middle crust. Combined with other geophysical study results, our data shows that the lithospheric destruction at the Shaanxi-Shanxi fault depression zone and the Yinchuan-Hetao rift surrounding the Ordos block is non-uniform. The lithosphere thickness is about 80–90 km in the Datong-Baotou area, 75–137 km at the Dingxiang-Shenmu region, and about 80–120 km in the Anyang-Yichuan area. The non-uniform lithospheric destruction may be related to the ancient tectonic zone surrounding the Ordos block. This zone experienced multi-period tectonic events in the long-term process of its tectonic evolution and was repeatedly transformed and weakened. The weakening level is related to the interactions with the Ordos block. The continental collision between the Cenozoic India and Eurasia plates and N-E thrusting by the Qinghai Tibet Plateau block is causing further reformation and reduction of the lithosphere.DUAN YongHong LIU BaoJin ZHAO JinRen LIU BaoFeng ZHANG ChengKe PAN SuZhen LIN JiYan GUO WenBin 2015Science China Earth Sciences2015,58,9:14

5Study on the velocity structure of the crust in Southwest Yunnan of the north-south seismic belt—Results from the Menghai-Gengma-Lushui deep seismic sounding profile显示文摘Southwest Yunnan, located in the southern segment of the north-south seismic belt, is one of the regions with strong tectonic movement and seismic activity in China. Study on the characteristics of tectonic setting and deep geophysical field in the region is an important issue in basic science. In 2013, we conducted a 600-km-long Menghai-Gengma-Lushui profile of deep seismic wide-angle reflection/refraction and high-resolution seismic refraction in Southwest Yunnan. In this paper, we use 6 groups of clear intracrustal P-wave phases picked from the seismic record sections of 11 shots to build a velocity structure model of basement and 2D crustal P-wave of the region by using finite difference inversion and ray travel time forward fitting technology. The results show that, from south to north, the crust gradually thickens along the profile and its basement shows a significant lateral heterogeneity. In the vicinity of the Nanting River fault, the basement structure shows the character of alternate depressions and uplifts, and the shallowest basement is about 1.0 km. In the vicinity of Tengchong and Lancang, the basement is about 5.0 km deep. The velocity of the middle and lower crust in the region generally increases with the increasing of depth. At the block boundary and beneath the fault tectonic belt, the velocity contours show apparent irregularity and the P-wave velocity changes sharply. In this region, the Moho gradually deepens from south to north with relatively large lateral undulations. The shallowest point of the Moho is located near Menghai at a depth of about 32.0 km. The deepest point of the Moho is located near Tengchong at a depth of about 40.5 km. Between Gengma and Yongde, the Moho shows significantly fast uplifting and depressing with an amplitude of about 4.0 km. Beneath the Nanting River fault, Longling-Ruili fault, Dayingjiang fault and Tengchong volcano, the basement velocity structure, 2D crustal P-wave velocity structure, distribution of average profile velocity and intracrustal interface spreading also show significant changes from the basement to the top of the Moho, indicating that the crustal velocity and medium physical properties beneath the fault tectonic belt are apparently different from the crustal materials on its both sides, which suggests that these faults should be in a certain scale and may extend to the lower crust or the top of the upper mantle. The earthquakes in the region mainly occurred at a depth of 10–20 km, and the seismic activity is related to the intracrustal medium velocity difference and fault belt distribution. The results can serve as the important data of the crust-mantle structure for the analysis of the deep tectonic setting, earthquake precise positioning, seismogenic structure modeling of the seismic activities in Southwest Yunnan, as well as the important reference for the evaluation of seismic hazard and the planning of earthquake disaster mitigation of this region.WANG ShuaiJun LIU BaoJin ZHANG JianShi LIU BaoFeng DUAN YuLing SONG XiangHui DENG XiaoGuo MA CeJun ZANG YiRan 2015Science China Earth Sciences2015,58,12:13
6Lithospheric structure and faulting characteristics of the Helan Mountains and Yinchuan Basin: Results of deep seismic reflection profiling显示文摘The Helan Mountains and Yinchuan Basin(HM-YB) are located at the northern end of the North-South tectonic belt, and form an intraplate tectonic deformation zone in the western margin of the North China Craton(NCC).The HM-YB has a complicated history of formation and evolution, and is tectonically active at the present day.It has played a dominant role in the complex geological structure and modern earthquake activities of the region.A 135-km-long deep seismic reflection profile across the HM-YB was acquired in early 2014,which provides detailed information of the lithospheric structure and faulting characteristics from near-surface to various depths in the region. The results show that the Moho gradually deepens from east to west in the depth range of 40-48 km along the profile.Significant differences are present in the crustal structure of different tectonic units, including in the distribution of seismic velocities, depths of intra-crustal discontinuities and undulation pattern of the Moho. The deep seismic reflection profile further reveals distinct structural characteristics on the opposite sides of the Helan Mountains. To the east,The Yellow River fault, the eastern piedmont fault of the Helan Mountains,as well as multiple buried faults within the Yinchuan Basin are all normal faults and still active since the Quaternary. These faults have controlled the Cenozoic sedimentation of the basin, and display a 'negative-flower' structure in the profile. To the west, the Bayanhaote fault and the western piedmont fault of the Helan Mountains are east-dipping thrust faults, which caused folding, thrusting, and structural deformation in the Mesozoic stratum of the Helan Mountains uplift zone.A deep-penetrating fault is identified in the western side of the Yinchuan Basin. It has a steep inclination cutting through the middle-lower crust and the Moho, and may be connected to the two groups of faults in the upper crust. This set of deep and shallow fault system consists of both strike-slip,thrust,and normal faults formed over different eras, and provides the key tectonic conditions for the basin-mountains coupling, crustal deformation and crust-mantle interactions in the region. The other important phenomenon revealed from the results of deep seismic reflection profiling is the presence of a strong upper mantle reflection(UMR) at a depth of 82-92 km beneath the HM-YB,indicating the existence of a rapid velocity variation or a velocity discontinuity in that depth range. This is possibly a sign of vertical structural inhomogeneity in the upper mantle of the region. The seismic results presented here provide new clues and observational bases for further study of the deep structure, structural differences among various blocks and the tectonic relationship between deep and shallow processes in the western NCC.LIU BaoJin FENG ShaoYing JI JiFa WANG ShuaiJun ZHANG JianShi YUAN HongKe YANG GuoJun 2017Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,3:11

10Dimethyloxallyl glycine/nanosilicates-loaded osteogenic/angiogenic difunctional fibrous structure for functional periodontal tissue regeneration显示文摘The coupled process of osteogenesis-angiogenesis plays a crucial role in periodontal tissue regeneration.Although various cytokines or chemokines have been widely applied in periodontal in situ tissue engineering, most of them are macromolecular proteins with the drawbacks of short effective half-life,poor stability and high cost, which constrain their clinical translation. Our study aimed to develop a difunctional structure for periodontal tissue regeneration by incorporating an angiogenic small molecule, dimethyloxalylglycine(DMOG),and an osteoinductive inorganic nanomaterial, nanosilicate(nSi)into poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA)fibers by electrospinning. The physiochemical properties of DMOG/nSi-PLGA fibrous membranes were characterized.Thereafter, the effect of DMOG/nSi-PLGA membranes on periodontal tissue regeneration was evaluated by detecting osteogenic and angiogenic differentiation potential of periodontal ligament stem cells(PDLSCs)in vitro.Additionally, the fibrous membranes were transplanted into rat periodontal defects, and tissue regeneration was assessed with histological evaluation,micro-computed tomography(micro-CT),and immunohistochemical analysis.DMOG/nSi-PLGA membranes possessed preferable mechanical property and biocompatibility.PDLSCs seeded on the DMOG/nSi-PLGA membranes showed up-regulated expression of osteogenic and angiogenic markers, higher alkaline phosphatase(ALP)activity, and more tube formation in comparison with single application.Further,in vivo study showed that the DMOG/nSi-PLGA membranes promoted recruitment of CD90+/CD34stromal cells, induced angiogenesis and osteogenesis, and regenerated cementum-ligament-bone complex in periodontal defects.Consequently, the combination of DMOG and nSi exerted admirable effects on periodontal tissue regeneration.DMOG/nSi-PLGA fibrous membranes could enhance and orchestrate osteogenesis-angiogenesis,and may have the potential to be translated as an effective scaffold in periodontal tissue engineering.Lingling Shang Ziqi Liu Baojin Ma Jinlong Shao Bing Wang Chenxi Ma Shaohua Ge 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,4:5
11Crustal P-wave velocity structure in the northeastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and insights into crustal deformation显示文摘The transitional area between the northeastern margin of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, Ordos Block and Alxa Block, also being the northern segment of the North-South Seismic Belt, is characterized by considerably high seismicity level and high risk of strong earthquakes. In view of the special tectonic environment and deep tectonic setting in this area, this study used two seismic wide-angle reflection/refraction cross profiles for double constraining, so as to more reliably obtain the fine-scale velocity structure characteristics in both the shallow and deep crust of individual blocks and their boundaries in the study area, and further discuss the seismogenic environment in seismic zones with strong historical earthquakes. In this paper, the P-wave data from the two profiles are processed and interpreted, and two-dimensional crustal velocity structure models along the two profiles are constructed by travel time forward modeling. The results show that there are great differences in velocity structure, shape of intra-crustal interfaces and crustal thickness among different blocks sampled by the two seismic profiles. The crustal thickness along the Lanzhou-Huianbu-Yulin seismic sounding profile(L1) increases from ~43 km in the western margin of Ordos Block to ~56 km in the Qilian Block to the west. In the Ordos Block, the velocity contours vary gently, and the average velocity of the crust is about 6.30 km s-1; On the other hand, the velocity structures in the crust of the Qilian Block and the arclike tectonic zone vary dramatically, and the average crustal velocities in these areas are about 0.10 km s-1 lower than that of the Ordos Block. In addition, discontinuous low-velocity bodies(LVZ1 and LVZ2) are identified in the crust of the Qilian Block and the arc-like tectonic zone, the velocity of which is 0.10–0.20 km s-1 lower than that of the surroundings. The average crustal thickness of the Ordos Block is consistently estimated to be around 43 km along both Profile L2(Tongchuan-Huianbu-Alashan left banner seismic sounding profile) and Profile L1. In contrast to the gently varying intra-crustal interfaces and velocity contours in the Ordos Block along Profile L1, which is a typical structure characteristic of stable cratons, the crustal structure in the Ordos Block along Profile L2 exhibits rather complex variations. This indicates the presence of significant structural differences in the crust within the Ordos Block. The crustal structure of the Helan Mountain Qilian Block and the Yinchuan Basin is featured by 'uplift and depression' undulations, showing the characteristics of localized compressional deformation. Moreover, there are low-velocity zones with alternative high and low velocities in the middle and lower crust beneath the Helan Mountain, where the velocity is about 0.15–0.25 km s-1 lower than that of the surrounding areas. The crustal thickness of the Alxa Block is about 49 km, and the velocity contours in the upper and middle-lower crust of the block vary significantly. The complex crustal velocity structure images along the two seismic sounding profiles L1 and L2 reveal considerable structural differences among different tectonic blocks, their coupling relationships and velocity structural features in the seismic zones where strong historical earthquakes occurred. The imaging result of this study provides fine-scale crustal structure information for further understanding the seismogenic environment and mechanism in the study area.Shuaijun WANG Baojin LIU Xiaofeng TIAN Baofeng LIU Xianghui SONG Xiaoguo DENG Yinan SUN Cejun MA Yudong YANG 2018Science China Earth Sciences2018,61,9:3

13Centimeter‑level‑precision seafloor geodetic positioning model with self‑structured empirical sound speed profile显示文摘In-field Sound Speed Profile(SSP)measurement is still indispensable for achieving centimeter-level-precision Global Navigation Satellite System(GNSS)-Acoustic(GNSS-A)positioning in current state of the art.However,in-field SSP measurement on the one hand causes a huge cost and on the other hand prevents GNSS-A from global seafloor geodesy especially for real-time applications. We propose an Empirical Sound Speed Profile(ESSP)model with three unknown temperature parameters jointly estimated with the seafloor geodetic station coordinates, which is called the 1st-level optimization.Furthermore, regarding the sound speed variations of ESSP we propose a so-called 2nd-level optimization to achieve the centimeter-level-precision positioning for monitoring the seafloor tectonic movement.Long-term seafloor geodetic data analysis shows that, the proposed two-level optimization approach can achieve almost the same positioning result with that based on the in-field SSP.The influence of substituting the in-field SSP with ESSP on the horizontal coordinates is less than 3 mm,while that on the vertical coordinate is only 2–3 cm in the standard deviation sense.Shuqiang Xue Baojin Li Zhen Xiao Yue Sun Jingsen Li 2023Satellite Navigation2023,4,3:3
14Energy storage properties of PVDF terpolymer/PMMA blends显示文摘Dielectrics can be used to store electric energy in capacitors and high-energy density of the materials is desirable to reduce the size or weight of capacitors. To improve the energy storage properties of poly(vinylidene fluoride–trifluoroethylene–chlorofluoroethylene)[P(VDF–TrFE–CFE)]terpolymer,P(VDF–TrFE–CFE)/poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA)blends were investigated in this study.By adding a small amount of PMMA into PVDF terpolymer(<5 wt%),the dielectric breakdown field of the blends can be improved as a result of the enhancement of elastic modulus of the blends. For the blends with<2.5 wt%PMMA,though their dielectric properties are reduced, under the same electric field, the energy density of the blends is almost the same as that of PVDF terpolymer.Consequently, the energy storage performance of the terpolymer can be improved by blending with a small amount of PMMA.Baojin Chu Yang Zhou 2016High Voltage2016,1,4:2
15Petrology and geochemistry of clastic sedimentary rocks as evidences for provenance of the Late Palaeozoic Madzaringwe Formation, Tshipise-Pafuri Basin, South Africa显示文摘Petrography and geochemistry(major, trace and rare earth elements) of clastic rocks from the Late Palaeozoic Madzaringwe Formation, in the Tshipise-Pafuri Basin, Northern South Africa, have been investigated to understand their provenance. Sandstone petrography and detrital modes indicates that the Late Palaeozoic succession was derived from craton interior and recycled orogen provenance. Sandstones in the Madzaringwe Formation are sub-arkosic to sub-litharenite. The sediments may represent a recycled to craton interior provenance. The geochemical data of major elements show that sandstone and shales have the same source. The study of paleoweathering conditions based on modal composition, chemical index of alteration(CIA) and A-CN-K(Al2O3-Ca O+Na2O-K2O) relationships indicate that probably chemical weathering in the source area and recycling processes have been more important in shale and sandstone rocks. The relatively high CIA values(70–90%) indicates moderate to high weathering conditions of the samples and the paleoclimate of the source area was warm. K2O/Na2 O versus Si O2 and Na2O-Ca O-K2 O tectonic setting discrimination plots, suggest a passive continental margin. In the study of trace elements, triangular Th-Sc-Zr/10 and La-Th-Sc plots both suggest a passive margin setting of the basin. Petrographic and geochemical results of the samples suggest uplifted basement source areas dominated by sedimentary rocks and/or granite-gneiss rocks. The source rocks might have been the recycled pre-Soutpansberg Karoo Supergroup rocks and the metasedimentary rocks of the Soutpansberg Group. Other source rocks may have been the pre-Beit-Bridge basement rocks(granites and gneisses).Ntokozo MALAZA LIU KuiWu ZHAO BaoJin 2016Science China(Information Sciences)2016,59,12:2

17Aging Characteristics, Stress Corrosion Behaviour and Role of Mg Segregation at Grain Boundary in 7175High-strength Al Alloy显示文摘The aging characteristics, stress corrosion behaviour and chemical composition of grain boundary in 7175 high-strength Al alloy during long term aging process have been investigated by hardness measurement, constant elongation rate testing (CERT) and energy spectroscopy analysis. The results indicate that double peaks in aged state feature the hardness and strength of 7175 Al alloy Although the intensity of double peaks is almost equal, the stress corrosion resistance in the second peak-aged state is better than that of the first peak-aged state. The effects of Mg segregation on the binding energy of grain boundary have been calculated by using free electron theory developed by the authors. The results show that Mg segregation plays a significant role in controlling stress corrosion susceptibility which is consistent with the experimental results.Song, Renguo Geng, Ping Zeng, Meiguang Zhang, Baojin 1998Journal of Materials Science & Technology1998,14,3:2
18Effect of agitation on the characteristics of air dense medium fluidization显示文摘In order to study the effect of agitation on the characteristics of air dense medium fluidization, we designed and constructed an agitation device. Analyses were then conducted on the fluidization characteristics curves, the bed density stability and the average bubble rise velocity Uaunder different agitation conditions. The results indicated that a lower bed pressure drop(without considering lower gas velocity in a fixed bed stage) and higher minimum fluidized velocity are achieved with increasing agitation speed. The height d(distance between the lower blades and air distribution plate) at which the agitation paddle was located had a considerable effect on the stability of the bed density at 9.36 cm/s < U < 10.70 cm/s. The higher the value of d, the better the stability, and the standard deviation of the bed density fluctuation r dropped to 0.0364 g/cm^3 at the ideal condition of d = 40 mm. The agitation speed also had a significant influence on the fluidization performance, and r was only 0.0286 g/cm^3 at an agitation speed of N = 75 r/min. The average bubble rise velocity decreased significantly with increasing agitation speed under the operating condition of 1.50 cm/s < U–U_(mf)< 3.50 cm/s. This shows that appropriate agitation contributes to a significant improvement in the fluidization quality in a fluidized bed, and enhances the separation performance of a fluidized bed.Wang Yanan Luo Zhenfu Huang Ge Ren Baojin 2016International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2016,26,3:2

20Comprehensive Multi-Level Exploration of Buried Active Faults:an Example of the Yinchuan Buried Active Fault显示文摘The paper introduces the steps and methods of multi-approach,multi-level exploration of buried faults in thick Quaternary sediment regions by taking the test exploration of the Yinchuan active fault as example.Based on the comprehensive analyses of previous data,we choose the Xinqushao Village of Xingqing District of Yinchuan City as the test site for the comprehensive exploration.Firstly,we adopted shallow seismic investigation with group intervals of 10m,5m and 1m to gradually trace layer by layer the master fault of the Yinchuan buried fault from a deep depth to a shallow depth where drilling could be used. Then, with composite geological profile drilling,we determined the precise location and dip angle of the fault. The drilling show the buried depth of the upper offset point is 8.3m.Finally,large-scale trenching revealed that the actual buried depth of the upper offset point of the fault is 1.5m from the ground surface and there are paleoearthquake events of 5 stages.Combined with the preliminary result of corresponding sample age,we conclude the Yinchuan buried fault is a mid to late Holocene active fault.Chai Chizhang Meng Guangkui Du Peng Wang Yin Liu Baojin Shen Weihua LeiQiyun Liao Yuhua Zhao Chengbin Feng Shaoying Zhang Xuehui Xie Xiaofeng 2007Earthquake Research in China2007,21,3:1
