1Apoptotic extracellular vesicles are metabolized regulators nurturing the skin and hair显示文摘Over 300 billion of cells die every day in the human body,producing a large number of endogenous apoptotic extracellular vesicles(apoEVs).Also,allogenic stem cell transplantation,a commonly used therapeutic approach in current clinical practice,generates exogenous apoEVs.It is well known that phagocytic cells engulf and digest apoEVs to maintain the body’s homeostasis.In this study,we show that a fraction of exogenous apoEVs is metabolized in the integumentary skin and hair follicles.Mechanistically,apoEVs activate the Wnt/β-catenin pathway to facilitate their metabolism in a wave-like pattern.The migration of apoEVs is enhanced by treadmill exercise and inhibited by tail suspension,which is associated with the mechanical force-regulated expression of DKK1 in circulation.Furthermore,we show that exogenous apoEVs promote wound healing and hair growth via activation of Wnt/β-catenin pathway in skin and hair follicle mesenchymal stem cells.This study reveals a previously unrecognized metabolic pathway of apoEVs and opens a new avenue for exploring apoEV-based therapy for skin and hair disorders.Lan Ma Chider Chen Dawei Liu Zhiqing Huang Jiaqi Li Haixiang Liu Ryan Tsz Kin Kwok Benzhong Tang Bingdong Sui Xiao Zhang Jianxia Tang Xueli Mao Weiying Huang Songtao Shi Xiaoxing Kou 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,1:3
2One Step Ball-Milling Synthesis of LiFePO_ 4 Nanoparticles as the Cathode Material of Li-Ion Batteries显示文摘A one-step synthetic method was used to synthesize Olivline LiFePO_ 4 powders by direct ball milling the stoichiometric mixture of Fe, Li_ 3 PO_ 4 , and FePO_ 4 powders. XRD and TEM measurements revealed that the as-prepared LiFePO_ 4 powder have a homogeneous Olivine structure and a uniform size distribution of ca.50 nm. Based on this material, a LiFePO_ 4 /C composite was prepared and used for the cathode material of Li-ion batteries. The charge-discharge experiments demonstrated that the LiFePO_ 4 /C composite material has a high capacity of 132 mAh/g at 0.1 C and a quite high-rate capability of 95 mAh/g at 1 C. 3Survey of spinal cord injury-induced neurogenic bladder studies using the Web of Science显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To identify global trends in research on spinal cord injury-induced neurogenic bladder, through a bibliometric analysis using the Web of Science. DATA RETRIEVAL:We performed a bibliometric analysis of studies on spinal cord injury-induced neurogenic bladder using the Web of Science.Data retrieval was performed using key words'spinal cord injury','spinal injury','neurogenic bladder','neuropathic bladder','neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction','neurogenic voiding dysfunction','neurogenic urination disorder'and 'neurogenic vesicourethral dysfunction'. SELECTION CRITERIA:Inclusion criteria:(a)published peer-reviewed articles on spinal cord injury-induced neurogenic bladder indexed in the Web of Science;(b)type of articles:original research articles and reviews;(c)year of publication:no limitation.Exclusion criteria:(a)articles that required manual searching or telephone access;(b)Corrected papers and book chapters. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:(1)Annual publication output;(2)distribution according to journals; (3)distribution according to subject areas;(4)distribution according to country;(5)distribution according to institution;and(6)top cited publications. RESULTS:There were 646 research articles addressing spinal cord injury-induced neurogenic bladder in the Web of Science.Research on spinal cord injury-induced neurogenic bladder was found in the Science Citation Index-Expanded as of 1946.The United States,Ireland and Switzerland were the three major countries contributing to studies in spinal cord injury-induced neurogenic bladder in the 1970s.However,in the 1990s,the United States,the United Kingdom,the Netherlands,Germany and Japan published more papers on spinal cord injury-induced neurogenic bladder than Switzerland,and Ireland fell off the top ten countries list.In this century,the United States ranks first in spinal cord injury-induced neurogenic bladder studies,followed by France,the United Kingdom,Germany,Switzerland and Japan.Subject categories including urology, nephrology and clinical neurology,as well as rehabilitation,are represented in spinal cord injury-induced neurogenic bladder studies. 4Phase identification by a novel needle-contact capacitance probe in gas-liquid two-phase flows显示文摘In this paper,we propose a novel probe to identify phases in any two-phase flows where one phase is conductive and the other nonconductive.We can further obtain many parameters such as void fraction,bubble velocity,and interfacial area concentration.Compared with the traditional probe,the novel probe has unique advantages that it is less dependent on water conductance or distance between the electrodes,and that the amplitude is bigger between high and low levels.Theoretical analyses showed that the measurement error became higher when water conductance decreases or distance increases,which is consistent with the theoretical analyses.Experimental results showed that the output signal kept constant with salt content of 0-5% and electrode distance of 0-30 mm in tap water.The level difference was up to 6.4 V,resulting in identifying two phases easily.Time traces of phase identification were completely consistent with the flow structures.HUANG Shanfang LU Jun ZHANG Bingdong WANG Dong 2010Nuclear Science and Techniques2010,21,5:1
5Mechanical force-driven TNFαendocytosis governs stem cell homeostasis显示文摘Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)closely interact with the immune system,and they are known to secrete inflammatory cytokines in response to stress stimuli.The biological function of MSC-derived inflammatory cytokines remains elusive.Here,we reveal that even under physiological conditions,MSCs produce and release a low level of tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNFα),which is unexpectedly required for preserving the self-renewal and differentiation of MSCs via autocrine/paracrine signaling.Furthermore,TNFαcritically maintains MSC function in vivo during bone homeostasis.Mechanistically,we unexpectedly discovered that physiological levels of TNFαsafeguard MSC homeostasis in a receptor-independent manner through mechanical force-driven endocytosis and that endocytosed TNFαbinds to mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR)complex 2 and restricts mTOR signaling.Importantly,inhibition of mTOR signaling by rapamycin serves as an effective osteoanabolic therapeutic strategy to protect against TNFαdeficiency and mechanical unloading.Collectively,these findings unravel the physiological framework of the dynamic TNFαshuttlebased mTOR equilibrium that governs MSC and bone homeostasis.Wenjing Yu Chider Chen Xiaoxing Kou Bingdong Sui Tingting Yu Dawei Liu Runci Wang Jun Wang Songtao Shi 2021Bone Research2021,9,1:1

7THE CHARACTERISTICS OF RAINFALL AND DISASTERS OF DEBRIS FLOW IN BEIJING AREA显示文摘The relationship between the characteristics of rainfall and disasters of debris flow in Beijing area is analyzed in this paper. Topographically induced convergence and upward motion of air are one of the most importam mechanism that may cause and strengthen storm rainfall in the western and northern mountain area of Beijing. Most disasters of Beijing debris flow occurred on both sides of the rainfall detention line due to the storm clouds detained by the mountains in the last decades. It is related to the topographically nocturnal storms that the debris flow often occurs during the night in Beijing. The local thermal circulation causes violent cyclonic convergence that motivates nocturnal storm rainfall in the mountain area. The rainfall intensity triggering the debris flow is the 3-day-precipitation analogous to the value at recurrence rate of once in fifty years. The storm rainfall with the intensity of 50 mm per hour may trigger debris flow, when the water content of the loose earth reaches saturation. It is found that the 3-day- rainfall over 300 mm and 1-hour-rainfall over 50 mm are the critical warning intensity of rainfall in Beijing area.PANG Bingdong Assoc. Prof Dept. 9Apoptotic vesicles ameliorate lupus and arthritis via phosphatidylserine-mediated modulation of T cell receptor signaling显示文摘Mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)influence T cells in health,disease and therapy through messengers of intercellular communication including extracellular vesicles(EVs).Apoptosis is a mode of cell death that tends to promote immune tolerance,and a large number of apoptotic vesicles(apoVs)are generated from MSCs during apoptosis.In an effort to characterize these apoVs and explore their immunomodulatory potential,here we show that after replenishing them systemically,the apoV deficiency in Fas mutant mice and pathological lymphoproliferation were rescued,leading to the amelioration of inflammation and lupus activity.ApoVs directly interacted with CD4^(+)T cells and inhibited CD25 expression and IL-2 production in a dose-dependent manner.A broad range of Th1/2/17 subsets and cytokines including IFNγ,IL17A and IL-10 were suppressed while Foxp3^(+)cells were maintained.Mechanistically,exposed phosphatidylserine(PtdSer/PS)on apoVs mediated the interaction with T cells to disrupt proximal T cell receptor signaling transduction.Remarkably,administration of apoVs prevented Th17 differentiation and memory formation,and ameliorated inflammation and joint erosion in murine arthritis.Collectively,our findings unveil a previously unrecognized crosstalk between MSC apoVs and CD4^(+)T cells and suggest a promising therapeutic use of apoVs for autoimmune diseases.Runci Wang Meng Hao Xiaoxing Kou Bingdong Sui Maria Laura Sanmillan Xiao Zhang Dawei Liu Jun Tian Wenjing Yu Chider Chen Ruili Yang Lingyun Sun Yi Liu Claudio Giraudo Deepak A.Rao Nan Shen Songtao Shi 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,7:1

11Targeted inhibition of osteoclastogenesis reveals the pathogenesis and therapeutics of bone loss under sympathetic neurostress显示文摘Sympathetic cues via the adrenergic signaling critically regulate bone homeostasis and contribute to neurostress-induced bone loss,but the mechanisms and therapeutics remain incompletely elucidated.Here,we reveal an osteoclastogenesis-centered functionally important osteopenic pathogenesis under sympatho-adrenergic activation with characterized micro RNA response and efficient therapeutics.We discovered that osteoclastic mi R-21 was tightly regulated by sympatho-adrenergic cues downstream theβ2-adrenergic receptor(β2AR)signaling,critically modulated osteoclastogenesis in vivo by inhibiting programmed cell death 4(Pdcd4),and mediated detrimental effects of both isoproterenol(ISO)and chronic variable stress(CVS)on bone.Intriguingly,without affecting osteoblastic bone formation,bone protection against ISO and CVS was sufficiently achieved by a(D-Asp8)-lipid nanoparticle-mediated targeted inhibition of osteoclastic mi R-21 or by clinically relevant drugs to suppress osteoclastogenesis.Collectively,these results unravel a previously underdetermined molecular and functional paradigm that osteoclastogenesis crucially contributes to sympatho-adrenergic regulation of bone and establish multiple targeted therapeutic strategies to counteract osteopenias under stresses.Bingdong Sui Jin Liu Chenxi Zheng Lei Dang Ji Chen Yuan Cao Kaichao Zhang Lu Liu Minyan Dang Liqiang Zhang Nan Chen Tao He Kun Xuan Fang Jin Ge Zhang Yan Jin Chenghu Hu 2022International Journal of Oral Science2022,14,4:1

20Thymol ameliorates ammonium toxicity via repressing polyamine oxidase-derived hydrogen peroxide and modulating ammonium transporters in rice root显示文摘Background:Ammonium is an indispensable nutrient for crop growth,but anoxic conditions or inappropriate fertilizer usage result in the increase in ammonium content in soil.Excessive ammonium causes phytotoxicity.Thymol is a kind of natural phenolic compound with anti-microbial properties.However,little is known about the role of thymol in modulating plant physiology.Here we find the novel role of thymol in protecting rice from ammonium toxicity.Results:Thymol remarkably rescued rice seedlings growth from ammonium stress,which may resulted from the attenuation of reactive oxygen species(ROS)accumulation,oxidative injury,and cell death in both shoots and roots.Polyamine oxidase(PAO)metabolizes polyamines to produce ROS in plants in response to stress conditions.Thymol blocked ammonium-induced upregulation of a set of rice PAOs,which contributed to the decrease in ROS content.In rice seedlings upon ammonium stress,thymol downregulate the expression of ammonium transporters(AMT1;1 and AMT1;2);thymol upregulated the expression of calcineurin B-like interacting protein kinase 23(CIPK23)and calcineurin B-like binding protein 1(CBL1),two negative regulators of AMTs.This may help rice avoid ammonium overload in excessive ammonium environment.Correlation analysis indicated that PAOs,AMTs,and CBL1 were the targets of thymol in the detoxification of excessive ammonium.Conclusion:Thymol facilitates rice tolerance against ammonium toxicity by decreasing PAO-derived ROS and modulating ammonium transporters.Such findings may be applicable in the modulation of nutrient acquisition during crop production.Kai Guo Guangchi An Ning Wang Bingdong Pang Zhiqi Shi Hongwu Bai Li Zhang Jian Chen Weimin Xu 2021Food Production, Processing and Nutrition2021,3,1:0
