1Development and validation of an endoscopic images-based deep learning model for detection with nasopharyngeal malignancies显示文摘Background:Due to the occult anatomic location of the nasopharynx and frequent presence of adenoid hyperpla-sia,the positive rate for malignancy identification during biopsy is low,thus leading to delayed or missed diagnosis for nasopharyngeal malignancies upon initial attempt.Here,we aimed to develop an artificial intelligence tool to detect nasopharyngeal malignancies under endoscopic examination based on deep learning.Methods:An endoscopic images-based nasopharyngeal malignancy detection model(eNPM-DM)consisting of a fully convolutional network based on the inception architecture was developed and fine-tuned using separate training and validation sets for both classification and segmentation.Briefly,a total of 28,966 qualified images were collected.Among these images,27,536 biopsy-proven images from 7951 individuals obtained from January 1st,2008,to December 31st,2016,were split into the training,validation and test sets at a ratio of 7:1:2 using simple randomiza-tion.Additionally,1430 images obtained from January 1st,2017,to March 31st,2017,were used as a prospective test set to compare the performance of the established model against oncologist evaluation.The dice similarity coef-ficient(DSC)was used to evaluate the efficiency of eNPM-DM in automatic segmentation of malignant area from the background of nasopharyngeal endoscopic images,by comparing automatic segmentation with manual segmenta-tion performed by the experts.Results:All images were histopathologically confirmed,and included 5713(19.7%)normal control,19,107(66.0%)nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC),335(1.2%)NPC and 3811(13.2%)benign diseases.The eNPM-DM attained an overall accuracy of 88.7%(95%confidence interval(CI)87.8%-89.5%)in detecting malignancies in the test set.In the prospective comparison phase,eNPM-DM outperformed the experts:the overall accuracy was 88.0%(95%CI 86.1%-89.6%)vs.80.5%(95%CI 77.0%-84.0%).The eNPM-DM required less time(40 s vs.110.0±5.8 min)and exhibited encouraging performance in automatic segmentation of nasopharyngeal malignant area from the background,with an average DSC of 0.78±0.24 and 0.75±0.26 in the test and prospective test sets,respectively.Conclusions:The eNPM-DM outperformed oncologist evaluation in diagnostic classification of nasopharyngeal mass into benign versus malignant,and realized automatic segmentation of malignant area from the background of nasopharyngeal endoscopic images.Chaofeng Li Bingzhong Jing Liangru Ke Bin Li Weixiong Xia Caisheng He Chaonan Qian Chong Zhao Haiqiang Mai Mingyuan Chen Kajia Cao Haoyuan Mo Ling Guo Qiuyan Chen Linquan Tang Wenze Qiu Yahui Yu Hu Liang Xinjun Huang Guoying Liu Wangzhong Li Lin Wang Rui Sun Xiong Zou Shanshan Guo Peiyu Huang Donghua Luo Fang Qiu Yishan Wu Yijun Hua Kuiyuan Liu Shuhui Lv Jingjing Miao Yanqun Xiang Ying Sun Xiang Guo Xing Lv 2018Cancer Communications2018,38,1:9
2Community assemblage of free-living diazotrophs along the elevational gradient of Mount Gongga显示文摘Mountain systems are unique for studying the responses of species distribution and diversity to environmental changes along elevational gradients.It is well known that free-living diazotrophic microorganisms are important to nitrogen cycling in mountain systems.However,the elevational patterns of free-living diazotrophs and the underlying ecological processes in controlling their turnover along broader gradients are less well documented.Here,we investigated the pattern of diazotrophic diversity along the elevational gradient(1800 m-4100 m)in Mount Gongga of China.The results showed that the α-diversity of diazotrophs did not change with the elevation from 1800 m to 2800 m,but decreased at elevations above 3000 m.Such diversity pattern was driven mainly by soil total carbon,nitrogen,and plant richness.Various diazotrophic taxa showed differential abundance-elevation relationships.Ecological processes determining diazotrophic community assemblage shift along the elevations.Deterministic processes were relatively stronger at both low and high elevations,whereas stochastic processes were stronger at the middle elevation.This study also suggested a strong relationship among aboveground plants and diazotrophs,highlighting their potential interactions,even for free-living diazotrophs.Yansu Wang Chaonan Li Zehao Shen Junpeng Rui Decai Jin Jiabao Li Xiangzhen Li 2019Soil Ecology Letters2019,1,3:8
3Soil total organic carbon/total nitrogen ratio as a key driver deterministically shapes diazotrophic community assemblages during the succession of biological soil crusts显示文摘The diazotrophic community in biological soil crusts(biocrusts)is the key supplier of nitrogen in dryland.To date,there is still limited information on how biocrust development influences the succession of diazotrophic community,and what are the most important factors mediating diazotrophic communities during biocrust succession.Using the high throughput nifH amplicon sequencing,the diazotrophs in soils at different developmental stages of biocrust were comparatively studied.The results evidenced the decreases of TOC/TN ratio and pH value with biocrust development.Nostoc and Scytonema were the most dominant diazotrophic genera at all biocrust stages,while Azospirillum and Bradyrhizobium were abundant only in bare soil.Diazotrophic co-occurrence networks tended to be less complex and less connected with biocrust succession.The soil TOC/TN ratio was the most dominant factor mediating diazotrophic diversity,community composition and assembly processes,while diazotrophic-diversity and NO3–-N/NH4+-N ratio were positively correlated with the nitrogenase activity during biocrust succession.This study provided novel understandings of nitrogen fixation and succession patterns of diazotrophic community,by showing the effects of biocrust succession on diazotrophic diversity,community composition,community assembly and co-occurrence networks,and recognizing TOC/TN ratio as the most dominant factor mediating diazotrophs during biocrust succession.Lin Xu Bingchang Zhang Entao Wang Bingjian Zhu Minjie Yao Chaonan Li Xiangzhen Li 2021Soil Ecology Letters2021,3,4:3

5CHD3 chromatin-remodeling factor PICKLE regulates floral transition partially via modulating LEAFY expression at the chromatin level in Arabidopsis显示文摘PICKLE(PKL), a putative CHD3 chromatin remodeling factor, has been suggested to be involved in multiple processes in Arabidopsis. Here, we confirmed the late-flowering phenotype caused by pkl mutation with pkl mutants in two different ecotypes, and investigated the possible mechanisms that account for PKL regulation of flowering time. Quantitative RT-PCR and RNA-seq assays showed that expression of the LEAFY gene(LFY) and a number of LFY-regulated floral homeotic genes were down-regulated in seedlings of the pkl mutants. As predicted, overexpression of LFY restored normal flowering time of pkl mutants. Our results suggest that PKL may be involved in regulating flowering time via LFY expression. To uncover the underlying mechanism, Ch IP-PCR using anti-PKL was performed on materials from three developmental stages of seedlings. Our results showed that PKL associated with the genomic sequences of LFY, particularly at 10-day and 25-day after germination. We also showed that loss of PKL affected H3K27me3 level at the promoter of LFY. 6In-situ generation and global property profiling of metal nanoclusters by ultraviolet laser dissociation-mass spectrometry显示文摘Metal nanoclusters are promising nanomaterials with unique properties, but only a few ones with specific numbers of metal atoms can be obtained and studied up to now. In this study, we establish a new paradigm of in-situ generation and global study of metal nanoclusters with different sizes, constitutions, and charge states, including both accurate constitution characterization and global activity profiling. The complex mixtures of metal nanoclusters are produced by employing single-pulsed 193-nm laser dissociation of monolayer-protected cluster(MPC) precursors within a high-resolution mass spectrometry(HRMS). More than400 types of bare gold nanoclusters including novel multiply charged(2+ and 3+), S-/P-doped, and silver alloy ones can be efficiently generated and accurately characterized. A distinct size(1 to 142 atoms)-and charge(1+ to 3+)-hierarchy reactivity is clearly observed for the first time. 7DIW1 encoding a cladeⅠPP2C phosphatase negatively regulates drought tolerance by de-phosphorylating TaSnRK1.1 in wheat显示文摘Drought seriously impacts wheat production(Triticum aestivum L.),while the exploitation and utilization of genes for drought tolerance are insufficient.Leaf wilting is a direct reflection of drought tolerance in plants.Clade A PP2Cs are abscisic acid(ABA)co-receptors playing vital roles in the ABA signaling pathway,regulating drought response.However,the roles of other clade PP2Cs in drought tolerance,especially in wheat,remain largely unknown.Here,we identified a gain-of-function drought-induced wilting 1(DIW1)gene from the wheat Aikang 58 mutant library by map-based cloning,which encodes a cladeⅠprotein phosphatase 2C(TaPP2C158)with enhanced protein phosphatase activity.Phenotypic analysis of overexpression and CRISPR/Cas9 mutant lines demonstrated that DIW1/TaPP2C158 is a negative regulator responsible for drought resistance.We found that TaPP2C158 directly interacts with TaSnRK1.1 and de-phosphorylates it,thus inactivating the TaSnRK1.1–Ta AREB3 pathway.TaPP2C158 protein phosphatase activity is negatively correlated with ABA signaling.Association analysis suggested that C-terminal variation of TaPP2C158 changing protein phosphatase activity is highly correlated with the canopy temperature,and seedling survival rate under drought stress.Our data suggest that the favorable allele with lower phosphatase activity of TaPP2C158 has been positively selected in Chinese breeding history.This work benefits us in understanding the molecular mechanism of wheat drought tolerance,and provides elite genetic resources and molecular markers for improving wheat drought tolerance.Jingyi Wang Chaonan Li Long Li Lifeng Gao Ge Hu Yanfei Zhang Matthew P.Reynolds Xueyong Zhang Jizeng Jia Xinguo Mao Ruilian Jing 2023Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2023,65,8:1
8Prediction analysis of long-term memory effect for calamity gray series显示文摘It is adequate to use the gray theory for modeling and forecasting short-term calamity series. The forecast of calamity gray series is equivalent to predicting an extraordinary event in nature. In order to look for the regularity, the calamity date series, created from the threshold for a fixed time-interval series, are studied. In this paper, the Hurst exponent is applied to defining the long-term memory effect of the simulated calamity series, and is tested for the feasibility of using it as pre-requisite information before the gray modeling and forecasting. Based on the fractional Brownian motion (fBm) model, the time series with a definite length or quantity of data are derived assuming that various kinds of memory effect exist. Different threshold values are defined to yield or to analogize the calamity date series that are required in the prediction of the gray calamity events. After case study, both of the simulated and real seismic data show that the Hurst exponents are greater than 0.5 and, therefore, indicate that the long-term memory ef-fect exists. 9Video-based body geometric aware network for 3D human pose estimation显示文摘Three-dimensional human pose estimation(3 D HPE) has broad application prospects in the fields of trajectory prediction, posture tracking and action analysis. However, the frequent self-occlusions and the substantial depth ambiguity in two-dimensional(2 D) representations hinder the further improvement of accuracy. In this paper, we propose a novel video-based human body geometric aware network to mitigate the above problems. Our network can implicitly be aware of the geometric constraints of the human body by capturing spatial and temporal context information from 2 D skeleton data. Specifically, a novel skeleton attention(SA) mechanism is proposed to model geometric context dependencies among different body joints, thereby improving the spatial feature representation ability of the network. To enhance the temporal consistency, a novel multilayer perceptron(MLP)-Mixer based structure is exploited to comprehensively learn temporal context information from input sequences. We conduct experiments on publicly available challenging datasets to evaluate the proposed approach. The results outperform the previous best approach by 0.5 mm in the Human3.6 m dataset. 10Hierarchical structured CoP nanosheets/carbon nanofibers bifunctional eletrocatalyst for high-efficient overall water splitting显示文摘The design of efficient,stable,and economical electrocatalysts for oxygen and hydrogen evolution reaction(OER and HER)is a major challenge for overall water splitting.Herein,a hierarchical structured CoP/carbon nanofibers(CNFs)composite was successfully synthesized and its potential application as a high-efficiency bifunctional electrocatalyst for overall splitting water was evaluated.The synergetic effect of two-dimensional(2D)CoP nanosheets and on e-dimensi on al(1D)CNFs endowed the CoP/CNFs composites with abundant active sites and rapid electron and mass transport pathways,and thereby significantly improved the electrocatalytic performances.The optimized CoP/CNFs delivered a current density of 10 mA cm^(-2) at low overpotential of 325 mV for OER and 225 mV for HER.In the overall water splitting,CoP/CNFs achieved a low potential of 1.65 V at 10 mA cm^(-2).The facile strategy provided in the present work can facilitate the design and development of multifunctional non-noble metal catalysts for energy applications.Xiao-Qiao Xie Junpeng Liu Chaonan Gu Jingjing Li Yan Zhao Chun-Sen Liu 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,1:1

12Flexible and densified graphene/waterborne polyurethane composite film with thermal conducting property for high performance electromagnetic interference shielding显示文摘High-performance electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding materials with flexibility,excellent mechanical property,and thermal conductivity are highly desired for fifth-generation communications devices.Graphene exhibits tremendous potential due to its high electrical conductivity and unique lamellar structure.However,the construction of densified graphene structure in polymer matrix is still challenging.Herein,we develop a graphene/waterborne polyurethane(G/WPU)flexible film with densified and ordered layer-structure for using as an EMI shielding material.By virtue of the polyvinylpyrrolidone modified strategy and facile liquid phase ball-milling treatment,the graphene nanosheets can be efficiently dispersed into the WPU substrate and tightly connected between each other via internal interactions.Benefiting from the relatively low defects and densified structure of graphene,the resultant G/WPU film yields a high electrical conductivity of 1,004.5 S/m,and a tensile strength of around 48.5 MPa.As a consequence,it achieves an average EMI shielding effectiveness of over 30 dB in the X-band with a thickness of merely 0.15 mm and the value is further enhanced to 73.4 dB at 0.9 mm with a low density of 1.4 g/cm^(3),offering over 99.99999%shielding of incident electromagnetic waves.More importantly,this G/WPU film also exhibits a high cross-plane thermal conductivity of about 1.13 W/(m·K).Thus,this work develops a high-performance EMI shielding material with both good capacity of heat transmission,but also provides a facile strategy for designing next-generation advanced,lightweight,flexible,and multifunction shielding materials.Wang Yang Hengxuan Bai Bo Jiang Chaonan Wang Weimin Ye Zhengxuan Li Chong Xu Xiaobai Wang Yongfeng Li 2022Nano Research2022,15,11:1

14Aged hematopoietic stem cells entrap regulatory T cells to create a prosurvival microenvironment显示文摘Although DNA mutation drives stem cell aging,how mutation-accumulated stem cells obtain clonal advantage during aging remains poorly understood.Here,using a mouse model of irradiation-induced premature aging and middle-aged mice,we show that DNA mutation accumulation in hematopoietic stem cells(HSCs)during aging upregulates their surface expression of major histocompatibility complex class II(MHCII).MHCII upregulation increases the chance for recognition by bone marrow(BM)-resident regulatory T cells(Tregs),resulting in their clonal expansion and accumulation in the HSC niche.On the basis of the establishment of connexin 43(Cx43)-mediated gap junctions,BM Tregs transfer cyclic adenosine monophosphate(cAMP)to aged HSCs to diminish apoptotic priming and promote their survival via activation of protein kinase A(PKA)signaling.Importantly,targeting the HSC–Treg interaction or depleting Tregs effectively prevents the premature/physiological aging of HSCs.These findings show that aged HSCs use an active self-protective mechanism by entrapping local Tregs to construct a prosurvival niche and obtain a clonal advantage.Weinian Liao Chaonan Liu Ke Yang Jun Chen Yiding Wu Shuzhen Zhang Kuan Yu Lisha Wang Li Ran Mo Chen Fang Chen Yang Xu Song Wang Fengchao Wang Qian Zhang Jinghong Zhao Lilin Ye Changhong Du Junping Wang 2023Cellular & Molecular Immunology2023,20,10:0

16Implications of vitamin D for flesh quality of grass carp(Ctenopharyngodon idella):antioxidant ability,nutritional value,sensory quality,and myofiber characteristics显示文摘Background Muscle represents a unique and complex system with many components and comprises the major edible part of animals.Vitamin D is a critical nutrient for animals and is known to enhance calcium absorption and immune response.In recent years,dietary vitamin D supplementation in livestock has received increased attention due to biological responses including improving shear force in mammalian meat.However,the vitamin D acquisition and myofiber development processes in fish differ from those in mammals,and the effect of vitamin D on fish flesh quality is poorly understood.Here,the influence of dietary vitamin D on fillet quality,antioxidant ability,and myofiber development was examined in grass carp(Ctenopharyngodon idella).Methods A total of 540 healthy grass carp,with an initial average body weight of 257.24±0.63 g,were allotted in 6 experimental groups with 3 replicates each,and respectively fed corresponding diets with 15.2,364.3,782.5,1,167.9,1,573.8,and 1,980.1 IU/kg vitamin D for 70 d.Results Supplementation with 1,167.9 IU/kg vitamin D significantly improved nutritional value and sensory quality of fillets,enhancing crude protein,free amino acid,lipid,and collagen contents;maintaining an ideal pH;and reduc-ing lactate content,shear force,and cooking loss relative to respective values in the control(15.2 IU/kg)group.Average myofiber diameter and the frequency of myofibers>50μm in diameter increased under supplementation with 782.5–1,167.9 IU/kg vitamin D.Levels of oxidative damage biomarkers decreased,and the expression of antioxi-dant enzymes and nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 signaling molecules was upregulated in the 1,167.9 IU/kg vitamin D treatment compared to respective values in the control group.Furthermore,vitamin D supplementation activated cell differentiation by enhancing the expression of myogenic regulatory factors and myocyte enhancer factors compared to that in the control group.In addition,supplementation with 1,167.9 IU/kg vitamin D improved protein deposition associated with protein synthesis molecule(target of rapamycin)signaling and vitamin D receptor paralogs,along with inhibition of protein degradation(forkhead box protein 1)signaling.Conclusions Overall,the results demonstrated that vitamin D strengthened antioxidant ability and myofiber devel-opment,thereby enhancing nutritional value and sensory quality of fish flesh.These findings suggest that dietary vitamin D supplementation is conducive to the production of nutrient-rich,high quality aquaculture products.Yao Zhang Chaonan Li Xiaoqiu Zhou Weidan Jiang Pei Wu Yang Liu Hongmei Ren Lu Zhang Haifeng Mi Jiayong Tang Ruinan Zhang Lin Feng 2023Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2023,14,6:0

18Effect of Ketoprofenphonophoresis and Femoral Nerve Block in Knee Osteoarthritis显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the effect of ketoprofenphonophoresis and femoral nerve block in knee osteoarthritis.Methods:One hundred and fourteen patients with knee osteoarthritis were randomly divided into two groups.The control group consisted of 57 patients who were treated with only ketoprofenphonophoresis.The experimental group consisted of patients were treated with ketoprofenphonophoresis and femoral nerve block.The patients were followed for more than one month.The treatment effect assessed by observing their WOMAC index before and after therapy.Results:All the patients finished the follow-up.Their WOMAC indexes were reduced after therapy and one month after treatment,especially in the experimental group(P<0.05).The effective efficiency of ketoprofenphonophoresis and femoral nerve block were higher than that in the control group after treatment and after one month of follow-up(P<0.05).Conclusion:Compared with only ketoprofenphonophoresis,the combined treatment of ketoprofenphonophoresis and femoral nerve block was more appropriate in knee osteoarthritis.Fan Fan Wei Wei Binyan He Chaonan Li Qing Yang Shuiqin Li 2021Journal of Clinical and Nursing Research2021,5,6:0
19Hepatic Zbtb18 (Zinc Finger and BTB Domain Containing 18) alleviates hepatic steatohepatitis via FXR (Farnesoid X Receptor)显示文摘A lasting imbalance between fatty acid synthesis and consumption leads to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),coupled with hepatitis and insulin resistance.Yet the details of the underlying mechanisms are not fully understood.Here,we unraveled that the expression of the transcription factor Zbtb18 is markedly decreased in the livers of both patients and murine models of NAFLD.Hepatic Zbtb18 knockout promoted NAFLD features like impaired energy expenditure and fatty acid oxidation(FAO),and induced insulin resistance.Conversely,hepatic Zbtb18 overexpression alleviated hepato-steatosis,insulin resistance,and hyperglycemia in mice fed on a high-fat diet(HFD)or in diabetic mice.Notably,in vitro and in vivo mechanistic studies revealed that Zbtb18 transcriptional activation of Farnesoid X receptor(FXR)mediated FAO and Clathrin Heavy Chain(CLTC)protein hinders NLRP3 inflammasome activity.This key mechanism by which hepatocyte’s Zbtb18 expression alleviates NAFLD and consequent liver fibrosis was further verified by FXR’s deletion and forced expression in mice and cultured mouse primary hepatocytes(MPHs).Moreover,CLTC deletion significantly abrogated the hepatic Zbtb18 overexpression-driven inhibition of NLRP3 inflammasome activity in macrophages.Altogether,Zbtb18 transcriptionally activates the FXR-mediated FAO and CLTC expression,which inhibits NLRP3 inflammasome’s activity alleviating inflammatory stress and insulin resistance,representing an attractive remedy for hepatic steatosis and fibrosis.Lei Zhang Jiabing Chen Xiaoying Yang Chuangpeng Shen Jiawen Huang Dong Zhang Naihua Liu Chaonan Liu Yadi Zhong Yingjian Chen Kaijia Tang Jingyi Guo Tianqi Cui Siwei Duan Jiayu Li Shangyi Huang Huafeng Pan Huabing Zhang Xiaoqiang Tang Yongsheng Chang Yong Gao 2024Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2024,9,2:0
20Hydrogen absorption-desorption cycle decay mechanism of palladium nanoparticle decorated nitrogen doped graphene显示文摘As a hydrogen storage material,palladium nanoparticle decorated nitrogen doped graphene(Pd/N-r GO)has drawn much attention owing to its high absorption capacity at moderate conditions.However,its hydrogen absorption-desorption cycle performance,which is essential for their practical application,has been rarely studied.In this paper,a simple and convenient high temperature thermal reduction method was used to synthesize nitrogen-doped graphene decorated with Pd nanoparticles(Pd/N-r GO).Taken it as a representative,the hydrogen absorption-desorption cycle performance of Pd/N-r GO was investigated.The results showed that after three cycles the hydrogen storage capacity dropped from 2.9 wt%to 0.8 wt%at 25℃and 4 MPa pressure.It was found that the palladium nanoparticles shed from Pd/N-RGO sheet after cycle performance test,and then agglomerated.These phenomena will weaken the hydrogen spillover effect,leading to the decrease of hydrogen storage capacity.Meanwhile,decreased defects reduce the hydrogen absorption sites,which will thus deteriorate the hydrogen storage capacity.Jiao Li Chaonan Jin Ruijun Qian Chaoling Wu Yao Wang Yigang Yan Yungui Chen 2021Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2021,31,4:0
