2The calcium-dependent kinase OsCPK24 functions in cold stress responses in rice显示文摘Calcium-dependent protein kinases(CPKs)are serine/threonine protein kinases that function in plant stress responses. Although CPKs are recognized as key messengers in signal transduction, the specific roles of CPKs and the molecular mechanisms underlying their activity remain largely unknown. Here, we characterized the function of Os CPK_(24), a cytosol-localized calciumdependent protein kinase in rice. Os CPK_(24) was universally and highly expressed in rice plants and was induced by cold treatment. Whereas Os CPK_(24) knockdown plants exhibited increased sensitivity to cold compared to wild type(WT), Os CPK_(24)-overexpressing plants exhibited increased cold tolerance. Plants overexpressing Os CPK_(24) exhibited increased accumulation of proline(an osmoprotectant) and glutathione(an antioxidant) and maintained a higher GSH/GSSG(reduced glutathione to oxidized glutathione) ratio during cold stress compared to WT. In addition to these effects in response to cold stress, we observed the kinase activity of Os CPK_(24) varied under different calcium concentrations. Further,Os CPK_(24) phosphorylated Os Grx_(10), a glutathionedependent thioltransferase, at rates modulated by changes in calcium concentration. 3Species composition and diversity of Euphausiacea in the East China Sea显示文摘Based on the data of four seasonal oceanographic censuses in the East China Sea (23°30′~33°00′N, 118°30′~128°00′E) in 1997~2000, the species composition and the diversity of Euphausiacea were discussed as well as their relations with environmental variables. Results showed that there were totally 23 different species of Euphausiacea, in which 16 occurred in spring and autumn respectively; 15 were present in summer and only 10 were observed in winter. According to the calculated alternation fraction (R), the species composition showed a clear seasonal alternation with the changes ofseasons. Moreover, the environmental variables had different impacts on the distribution of Euphausiacea in different seasons. The distribution in summer was not significantly related to water temperature and salinity. However, the surface salinity was a major determinant of the distribution in spring. In autumn, both surface and bottom temperatures were influencing factors. The distribution in winter depended on salinity at the surface and 10 m depth as well as the temperature at 10 m depth. Regarding to the seasonal variation of species composition, the variations in spring, summer and autumn were not so significant as those in winter. Except in summer, the species number changed with synchronous water temperature and salinity, as a result of the presence of warm currents in the East China Sea and the habitability of the dominant species. 5Study on abundance variation of pteropods in the East China Sea显示文摘On the basis of the census in four seasons from 1997 to 2000 in the East China Sea (23°30′ ̄33°N, 118°30′ ̄128°E), the horizontal distribution of pteropods, the seasonal variations of their abundance and dynamic mechanisms of these variations were approached with quantitative and qualitative methods. Results showed that the total abundance of pteropods varied clearly with the seasons in an order of decrease of autumn (108×10-2 ind./m3), summer (33×10-2 ind./m3), winter(28×10-2 ind./m3) and spring (10×10-2 ind./m3). Pteropods were not observed in the north nearshore of the East China Sea (29°30′ ̄33°N, 122°30′ ̄125°E)in winter and spring. In all seasons, the peteropod abundance was higher in the south than that in the north and higher in the offshore than that in the nearshore. The major species influencing the peteropod abundance were Creseis acicula in spring, Creseis virgula in summer, Desmopterus papilio in autumn and Limacina trochiformis in winter. The variation of pteropod abundance showed a prominent linear correlation with the surface water temperature and 10 m water temperature, but no significant correlation with both the bottom water temperature and salinity. In summer, the high-abundance distribution area of pteropods was located in the place where the Taiwan Warm Current branchedfromtheKuroshio. Inautumn, thedistributionareawithanabundancehigherthan250×10-2ind./m3expanded northward along with the Taiwan Warm Current within the mixing area where the Changjiang freshwater, the Fujian—Zhejiang coastal water and the Huanghai Sea Cold Water met together. 6Lectin receptor kinase OsLecRK-S.7 is required for pollen development and male fertility显示文摘Pollen grains are covered by exine that protects the pollen from stress and facilitates pollination.Here we isolated a male sterile mutant s13283 in rice exhibiting aborted pollen with abnormal exine and defective aperture.The mutant gene encodes a novel plasma membrane-localized legume-lectin receptor kinase that we named OsLecRK-S.7.OsLecRK-S.7 was expressed at different levels in all tested tissues and throughout anther development.In vitro kinase assay showed OsLecRK-S.7 capable of autophosporylation.Mutation in s13283(E560K)and mutation of the conserved ATP binding site(K418E)both knocked out the kinase activity.Mass spectrometry showed Thr376,Ser378,Thr386,Thr403,and Thr657 to be the autophosphorylation sites.Mutation of individual autophosphorylation site affected the in vitro kinase activity to different degrees,but did not abolish the gene function in fertility complementation.oslecrk-s.7 mutant plant overexpressing OsLecRK-S.7 recovered male fertility but showed severe growth retardation with reduced number of tillers,and these phenotypes were abolished by E560K or K418E mutation.The results indicated that OsLecRK-S.7 was a key regulator of pollen development.Xiaoqun Peng Menglong Wang Yiqi Li Wei Yan Zhenyi Chang Zhufeng Chen Chunjue Xu Chengwei Yang Xing Wang Deng Jianxin Wu Xiaoyan Tang 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,8:4
7Identification of late-stage pollen-specific promoters for construction of pollen-inactivation system in rice显示文摘Large-scale production of male sterile seeds can be achieved by introducing a fertility-restoration gene linked with a pollen-killer gene into a recessive male sterile mutant.We attempted to construct this system in rice by using a late-stage pollen-specific(LSP)promoter driving the expression of maizeα-amylase gene ZM-AA1.To obtain such promoters in rice,we conducted comparative RNA-seq analysis of mature pollen with meiosis anther,and compared this with the transcriptomic data of various tissues in the Rice Expression Database,resulting in 269 candidate LSP genes.Initial test of nine LSP genes showed that only the most active OsLSP3 promoter could drive ZM-AA1 to disrupt pollen.We then analyzed an additional 22 LSP genes and found 12 genes stronger than OsLSP3 in late-stage anthers.The promoters of OsLSP5 and OsLSP6 showing higher expression than OsLSP3 at stages 11 and 12 could drive ZM-AA1 to inactivate pollen,while the promoter of OsLSP4 showing higher expression at stage 12 only could not drive ZM-AA1 to disrupt pollen,suggesting that strong promoter activity at stage 11 was critical for pollen inactivation.The strong pollen-specific promoters identified in this study provided valuable tools for genetic engineering of rice male sterile system for hybrid rice production.Menglong Wang Wei Yan Xiaoqun Peng Zhufeng Chen Chunjue Xu Jianxin Wu Xing Wang Deng Xiaoyan Tang 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,8:4
8GDSL esterase/lipases OsGELP34 and OsGELP110/OsGELP115 are essential for rice pollen development显示文摘Pollen exine contains complex biopolymers of aliphatic lipids and phenolics.Abnormal development of pollen exine often leads to plant sterility.Molecular mechanisms regulating exine formation have been studied extensively but remain ambiguous.Here we report the analyses of three GDSL esterase/lipase protein genes,OsGELP34,OsGELP110,and OsGELP115,for rice exine for-mation.OsGELP34 was identified by cloning of a male sterile mutant gene.OsGELP34 encodes an endoplasmic reticulum protein and was mainly expressed in anthers during pollen exine formation.osgelp34 mutant displayed abnormal exine and altered expression of a number of key genes required for pollen development.OsGELP110 was previously identified as a gene differentially expressed in meiotic anthers.OsGELP110 was most homologous to OsGELP115,and the two genes showed similar gene expression patterns.Both OsGELP110 and OsGELP115 proteins were localized in peroxisomes.Individual knockout of OsGELP110 and OsGELP115 did not affect the plant fertility,but double knockout of both genes altered the exine structure and rendered the plant male sterile.OsGELP34 is distant from OsGELP110 and OsGELP115 in sequence,and osgelp34 and osgelp110/osgelp115 mutants were different in anther morphology despite both were male sterile.These results suggested that OsGELP34 and OsGELP110/OsGELP115 catalyze different compounds for pollen exine development.Huihui Zhang Menglong Wang Yiqi Li Wei Yan Zhenyi Chang Haoling Ni Zhufeng Chen Jianxin Wu Chunjue Xu Xing Wang Deng Xiaoyan Tang 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,10:4
9A review on the synthesis of CuCo_(2)O_(4)-based electrode materials and their applications in supercapacitors显示文摘Supercapacitors as one of the most promising energy storage systems have been extensively studied due to the unique merits such as long-term cycling stability,fast charge rate,and low maintenance cost.It is widely known that the electrochemical performances of supercapacitors are closely related to the structure and specific surface area of the electrode materials.Therefore,many researches are focused on the design and synthesis of the electrode materials with novel shapes and large surface area.CuCo_(2)O_(4)has recently attracted enormous research interests as the electrode materials for supercapacitors owing to its inherent advantages including high theoretical capacity,environmental friendliness,natural abundance,and low cost.In the practical applications the CuCo_(2)O_(4)still suffers from some drawbacks,for instance,poor conductivity,relatively low specific capacity,and poor cycling durability.Hence,a comprehensive summary about the recent progress of CuCo_(2)O_(4)-based materials is necessary and significant to better understand the opportunity and challenge that such material faces.In this work,the progress of preparation methods and electrochemical performances of CuCo_(2)O_(4)-based materials is comprehensively reviewed.The aim of this review is to highlight some of the advances made by CuCo_(2)O_(4)-based electrode materials for supercapacitors and guide future research toward closing the gap between achieved and theoretical capacity,without limiting the loading mass.Jiale Sun Chunju Xu Huiyu Chen 2021Journal of Materiomics2021,7,1:2

14Alternative Splicing of OsRAD1 Defines C-Terminal Domain Essential for Protein Function in Meiosis显示文摘Alternative splicing can generate multiple mRNAs that differ in their untranslated regions or coding sequences,and these differences might affect mRNA stability or result in different protein isoforms with diverse functions and/or localizations.In this study,we isolated a sterile mutant in rice with abnormal meiosis of microspore mother cells and megaspore mother cells that carried a point mutation in OsRAD1 gene.Cloning of OsRAD1 cDNAs revealed three transcript variants,named as OsRAD1.1,OsRAD1.2 and OsRAD1.3,respectively,which were derived from alternative splicing of the last intron.Proteins derived from the three transcripts were mostly identical except the difference in the very C-terminal domain.The three transcripts exhibited similar expression patterns in various tissues,but the expression level of OsRAD1.1 was the highest.Specific knockout of OsRAD1.1 led to sterility,while knockout of OsRAD1.2 and OsRAD1.3 together did not change the plant fertility.Overexpression of OsRAD1.2 and OsRAD1.3 cDNAs in OsRAD1.1-specific mutant did not complement the plant fertility.Yeast two-hybrid assay showed that OsRAD1.1,but not OsRAD1.2 and OsRAD1.3,interacted with the three other meiosis proteins OsHUS1,OsRAD9 and OsRAD17,suggesting that the C-terminal domain of OsRAD1.1 is critical for the protein function.YUAN Shuting XU Chunjue YAN Wei CHANG Zhenyi DENG Xingwang CHEN Zhufeng WU Jianxin TANG Xiaoyan 2020Rice science2020,27,4:0
15Porous CuCo_(2)O_(4) microtubes as a promising battery-type electrode material for high-performance hybrid supercapacitors显示文摘Hollow nanostructures of transition metal oxides(TMOs)with hollow interior,low density,large surface area and surface permeability have drawn significant interest as electrode materials for supercapacitors.However,it is still challenging to controllably prepare hollow nanostructures by a facile method.Herein,we report for the first time that CuCo_(2)O_(4 )microrod precursor obtained from a solvothermal method in ethanol media can be converted into porous CuCo_(2)O_(4 )microtubes(CuCo_(2)O_(4 )MTs)in the post annealing treatment.The results of electrochemical tests demonstrate that these MTs are categorized as the typical battery-grade electrode materials.They can deliver a high capacity up to 393.66 C g^(-1) at ^(-1) A g^(-1) and still hold 305.99 C g^(-1) at 10 A g^(-1).Additionally,an assembled hybrid supercapacitor(CuCo_(2)O_(4 )MTs//AC HSC)exhibits 78.23 F g^(-1),good cycling durability and high energy density(32.49 W h kg^(-1) at 912.10 W kg^(-1)).The present synthetic methodology may be further applicable to the preparation of other hollow structural TMOs with applications in high-performance energy storage and conversion devices.Jiale Sun Xiaodong Tian Chunju Xu Huiyu Chen 2021Journal of Materiomics2021,7,6:0

17A comprehensive construction of the domain ontology for stratigraphy显示文摘Stratigraphic knowledge,the cornerstone of geoscience,needs to be represented by the Knowledge Graph based upon ontology,in order to apply the state-of-the-art big-data techniques.This study aims to comprehensively construct the ontologies for the stratigraphic domain.This has been achieved by a federated,crowd intelligence-based collaboration among domain experts of major stratigraphic subdisciplines.The initial step is to enumerate key terms from authoritative references and incorporate them into the Geoscience Professional Knowledge Graphs(GPKGs)of Deep-time Digital Earth Project.During this process,semantic heterogeneities were meticulously addressed by professional judgement aided by an automatic detection of Homonyms at the GPKGs platform.Afterwards,these terms were further differentiated as either classes or properties and arranged in a hierarchical framework in a top-down process.Consequently,seven ontologies are constructed for major stratigraphic branches,i.e.,Lithostratigraphy,Biostratigraphy,Chronostratigraphy,Chemostratigraphy,Magnetostratigraphy,Cyclostratigraphy and Sequence Stratigraphy.The ontology of Biostratigraphy,among them,is elaborated here,as no biostratigraphic ontology has been attempted before to our knowledge.The constructed biostratigraphic ontology comprises following major root classes:Fossil,Biostratigraphic unit,Biostratigraphic horizon.Altogether,they contribute to the eventual dating and correlating of strata in another root class:Biostratigraphic correlation.In summary,the achievements of this study are probably heretofore the most comprehensive ontologies for the stratigraphic domain.Moreover,a proto model of semantic search engine was conceived to discuss potential application of our work for better querying stratigraphic references,utilizing the semantic liaison of the classes in the constructed ontologies.Huiqing Xu Yingying Zhao Hao Huang Shaochun Dong Yukun Shi Chunju Huang Huaichun Wu Zhiqi Qian Qiang Fang Huaguo Wen Zhongtang Su Shuang Dai Ronghua Wang Chao Li Chao Sun Junxuan Fan 2023Geoscience Frontiers2023,14,5:0
