Three-Dimensional Heat Transfer Analysis for A Thermal Energy Storage Canister显示文摘High temperature latent thermal storage is one of the critical techniques for a solar dynamic power system. This paper presents results from heat transfer analysis of a phase change salt containment canister A three-dimensional analysis program is developed to model heat transfer in a PCM canister. Analysis include effects of asymmetric circumference heat flux, conduction in canister walls, liquid PCM and solid PCM, void volume change and void location, and conduction and radiation across PCM vapor void. The PCM phase change process is modeled using the enthalpy method and the simulation results are compared with those of other two- dimensional investigations. It’s shown that there are large difference with two-dimensional analysis, therefore the three-dimensional model is necessary for system design of high temperature latent thermal storage.Hou Xinbin, Xin Yuming, Yang Chunxin, Yuan Xiugan (Dept.of Flight Vehicle Design and Applied Mechanics, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Beijing, 100083.) 2Investigation of water impingement on a multi-element high-lift airfoil by Lagrangian and Eulerian approach显示文摘McDonnell Douglas Aerospace(MDA)high-lift model is widely used in the study of multi-element airfoil, while there is still short knowledge of ice accretion and water impingement on it.In this paper, based on two-phase flow theory, two numerical models were presented by using both Eulerian approach and Lagrangian approach, respectively,in order to predict the water impingement efficiency on a two-dimensional(2D)multi-element high-lift airfoil. Both computational results were validated with the experiment data, which shown good agreements in the impingement limitations and tendency. The trend that how the attack angle and droplet diameter affect the feather of local water impingement characteristics on the different elements of MDA were further investigated. As shown in this research, the trends that the local impingement intensity and extent on flap of MDA varied differently as in general understanding due to the complex structures of flow field, which should be careful cognized in design of the ice protection system.Chenxing Yu Peng Ke Guangfeng Yu Chunxin Yang 2015Propulsion and Power Research2015,4,3:4
Reexamination of Correlations for Nucleate SiteDistribution on Boiling Surface by Fractal Theory显示文摘Nucleate site distribution plays an essential role in nucleate boiling process. In this paper1 it is pointed out that the size and spatial distribution density of nucleate sites presented on real boiling surface can be described by the normalized fractal distribution function, and the physical meaning of parameters involved in some experimental correlations proposed by early investigations are identified according to fractal distribution function. It is further suggested that the surface micro geometry characteristics such as the shape of cavities should be described and analyzed qualitatively by using fractal theory.Yang Chunxin(University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, 100083 Beijing, China) 1997Journal of Thermal Science1997,6,2:4
Neural plasticity after spinal cord injury显示文摘Plasticity changes of uninjured nerves can result in a novel neural circuit after spinal cord injury, which can restore sensory and motor functions to different degrees. Although processes of neural plasticity have been studied, the mechanism and treatment to effectively improve neural plasticity changes remain controversial. The present study reviewed studies regarding plasticity of the central nervous system and methods for promoting plasticity to improve repair of injured central nerves. The results showed that synaptic reorganization, axonal sprouting, and neurogenesis are critical factors for neural circuit reconstruction. Directed functional exercise, neurotrophic factor and transplantation of nerve-derived and non-nerve-derived tissues and cells can effectively ameliorate functional disturbances caused by spinal cord injury and improve quality of life for patients.Jian Liu Xiaoyu Yang Lianying Jiang Chunxin Wang Maoguang Yang 2012Neural Regeneration Research2012,7,5:4

Biomass increment and mortality losses in tropical secondary forests of Hainan, China显示文摘Secondary forests, created after heavy logging, are an important part of China's forests. We investigated forest biomass and its accumulation rate in 38 plots in a tropical secondary forest on Hainan Island. These secondary forests are moderate carbon sinks, averaging1.96–2.17 t C ha-1 a-1. Biomass increment is largely by medium-sized(10–35 m) trees. Tree mortality accounts for almost 30% of the biomass and plays a negligible role in biomass accumulation estimates. Mortality rate is highly dependent on tree size. For small trees and seedlings, it is related to competition due to elevated irradiance after logging. Regarding prospective biomass and rates of accumulation, recovery is not as rapid as in secondary forests of cleared land. Therefore, tropical forests are susceptible to logging operations and need careful forest management.Junfu Zhao Chunsheng He Chunlin Qi Xu Wang Haiyan Deng Chunxin Wang Haiwei Liu Lianyan Yang Zhenghong Tan 2019Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,2:1

Effects of cytokines and chemokines on migration of mesenchymal stem cells following spinal cord injury显示文摘We investigated the effects of cytokines and chemokines and their associated signaling pathways on mesenchymal stem cell migration after spinal cord injury, to determine their roles in the curative effects of mesenchymal stem cells. This study reviewed the effects of tumor necrosis factor-α, vascular endothelial growth factor, hepatocyte growth factor, platelet-derived growth factor, basic fibroblast growth factor, insulin like growth factor-1, stromal cell-derived factor and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, 3 during mesenchymal stem cell migration to damaged sites, and analyzed the signal transduction pathways involved in their effects on mesenchymal stem cell migration. The results confirmed that phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/serine/threonine protein kinases and nuclear factor-κB play crucial roles in the migration of mesenchymal stem cells induced by cytokines and chemokines.Longyun Li Maoguang Yang Chunxin Wang Qiheng Zhao Jian Liu Chuanguo Zhan Zhi Liu Xuepeng Li Weihua Wang Xiaoyu Yang 2012Neural Regeneration Research2012,7,14:1

A preliminary study on an upper ocean heat and salt content of the western Pacific warm pool region显示文摘On the basis of Argo profile data of the temperature and salinity from January 2001 to July 2014, the spatial distributions of an upper ocean heat content(OHC) and ocean salt content(OSC) of the western Pacific warm pool(WPWP) region and their seasonal and interannual variations are studied by a cyclostationary empirical orthogonal function(CSEOF) decomposition, a maximum entropy spectral analysis, and a correlation analysis.Probable reasons for variations are discussed. The results show the following.(1) The OHC variations in the subsurface layer of the WPWP are much greater than those in the surface layer. On the contrary, the OSC variations are mainly in the surface layer, while the subsurface layer varies little.(2) Compared with the OSC, the OHC of the WPWP region is more affected by El Ni?o-Southern Oscillation(ENSO) events. The CSEOF analysis shows that the OHC pattern in mode 1 has strong interannual oscillation, with eastern and western parts opposite in phase. The distribution of the OSC has a positive-negative-positive tripole pattern. Time series analysis shows that the OHC has three phase adjustments with the occurrence of ENSO events after 2007, while the OSC only had one such adjustment during the same period. Further analysis indicates that the OHC variations are mainly caused by ENSO events, local winds, and zonal currents, whereas the OSC variations are caused by much more complex reasons. Two of these, the zonal current and a freshwater flux, have a positive feedback on the OSC change in the WPWP region.Xiaoxin Yang Xiaofen Wu Zenghong Liu Chunxin Yuan 2019Acta Oceanologica Sinica2019,38,3:0
Modeling and Verification of an Astronaut Handling Large-mass Payload显示文摘The experiments on astronaut motions are difficult to conduct due to the limitation and high cost of constructing or simulating the microgravity environment of space. Therefore, the method of computer simulation on astronaut extravehicular activity is broadly promoted. However, validations and verifications for these simulations stated in related literatures are incomplete such as comparing with the limits of human body movements or reconstructing a three-dimensional movement for some parts of EVA video. Novel modeling and verification methods for the task of an astronaut handling large-mass payload during EVA were revealed. A simplified model of an astronaut was constructed, and the astronaut motion was conceived as a planar movement of a multi-body system which includes seven segments with six revolute joints in the human body sagittal plane. The inverse kinematics method was used to calculate joint angles, joint velocities, and joint accelerations in time domain. The solution of joint torques using the inverse recursive dynamics was achieved. Furthermore, a virtual model with the ADAMSTM software was developed and implemented to verify the results by adding the kinematical data calculated to joints in order to achieve the trace of the center of mass of the hand. Additionally, the joints kinematics and kinetics data with time in the virtual model were obtained and compared with the corresponding calculated data. This result indicates that the modeling methods proposed can be employed as a solid algorithm to conduct the simulation of astronaut’s tasks in EVA, and verification using the virtual model can be easily operated and has a good accuracy. This study provides an effective and economical way of modeling and simulation for extravehicular missions.YANG Aiping YANG Chunxin KE Peng 2010Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2010,23,4:0

Development of diagnostic markers for a wheat leaf rust resistance gene Lr42 using RNA-sequencing显示文摘Wheat leaf rust is a prevalent foliar disease in wheat worldwide. Growing resistant cultivars is an effective strategy to minimize the impact of leaf rust on yield and grain quality. Lr42 is a leaf rust resistance gene identified from Aegilops tauschii and is still effective against current predominant leaf rust races in the United States and many other countries. In this study, we developed diagnostic DNA markers for Lr42 using the sequence polymorphisms of a differentially expressed gene(TaRPM1) encoding a putative NBARC protein in the Lr42 candidate region identified by RNA-sequencing of two near-isogenic lines contrasting in Lr42 alleles. Markers were designed based on a deletion mutation and a single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) in the gene. Haplotype analyses of the newly developed markers in the three diversity panels demonstrated that they are diagnostic for Lr42, and superior to previously used markers in selection accuracy. These markers have the advantages of low cost and easy assay, and they are suitable for marker-assisted selection in breeding programs with either high-or low-throughput marker screening facilities.Yang Liu Hui Chen Chunxin Li Lirong Zhang Mingqin Shao Yuhui Pang Xiangyang Xu Guihua Bai 2021The Crop Journal2021,9,6:0
In-situ polymerization for mechanical strong composite actuators based on anisotropic wood and thermoresponsive polymer显示文摘Stimuli-responsive hydrogels hold an irreplaceable statue in intelligent actuation materials because of their reversible stretchability and excellent biocompatibility. However, the poor mechanical performance and complicated fabrication process of anisotropic structures severely limit their further applications.Herein,we report a high-strength thermoresponsive wood-PNIPAM composite hydrogel actuator with complex deformations, through a simple in-situ polymerization. In this composite hydrogel actuator, the anisotropic wood and the thermoresponsive PNIPAM hydrogel hydroel can work together to pro-vide bending and even other complex deformations.Owing to strong interfacial interaction, this actuator perfectly realized the combination of good mechanical properties(∼1.1 MPa)and fast actuation speed(∼0.9 s).In addition,by adjusting the orientation direction of wood, this actuator can achieve various complex deformations.Such composite hydrogel actuator could be a good candidate for intelligent appli-cations,such as intelligent actuators, smart valves, manipulators and even soft robots.Lian Chen Xianshuo Wei Feng Wang Shaoju Jian Weisen Yang Chunxin Ma Gaigai Duan Shaohua Jiang 2022Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,5:0
Improved diagnosis of thyroid cancer aided with deep learning applied to sonographic text reports:a retrospective,multi-cohort,diagnostic study显示文摘Objective:Large volume radiological text data have been accumulated since the incorporation of electronic health record(EHR)systems in clinical practice. We aimed to determine whether deep natural language processing algorithms could aid radiologists in improving thyroid cancer diagnosis. Methods:Sonographic EHR data were obtained from the EHR database.Pathological reports were used as the gold standard for diagnosing thyroid cancer. We developed thyroid cancer diagnosis based on natural language processing(THCaDxNLP)to interpret unstructured sonographic text reports for thyroid cancer diagnosis. We used the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUROC)as the primary metric to measure the performance of the THCaDxNLP.We compared the performance of thyroid ultrasound radiologists aided with THCaDxNLP vs.those without THCaDxNLP using 5 independent test sets. Results:We obtained a total number of 788,129 sonographic radiological reports. The number of thyroid sonographic data points was 132,277,18,400 of which were thyroid cancer patients.Among the 5 test sets, the numbers of patients per set were 439,186,82,343,and 171.THCaDxNLP achieved high performance in identifying thyroid cancer patients(the AUROC ranged from 0.857–0.932).Thyroid ultrasound radiologists aided with THCaDxNLP achieved significantly higher performances than those without THCaDxNLP in terms of accuracy(93.8%vs.87.2%;one-sided t-test,adjusted P=0.003),precision(92.5%vs.86.0%;P=0.018),and F1 metric(94.2%vs.86.4%;P=0.007).Conclusions:THCaDxNLP achieved a high AUROC for the identification of thyroid cancer, and improved the accuracy, sensitivity, and precision of thyroid ultrasound radiologists. This warrants further investigation of THCaDxNLP in prospective clinical trials.Qiang Zhang Sheng Zhang Jianxin Li Yi Pan Jing Zhao Yixing Feng Yanhui Zhao Xiaoqing Wang Zhiming Zheng Xiangming Yang Lixia Liu Chunxin Qin Ke Zhao Xiaonan Liu Caixia Li Liuyang Zhang Chunrui Yang Na Zhuo Hong Zhang Jie Liu Jinglei Gao Xiaoling Di Fanbo Meng Wei Ji Meng Yang Xiaojie Xin Xi Wei Rui Jin Lun Zhang Xudong Wang Fengju Song Xiangqian Zheng Ming Gao Kexin Chen Xiangchun Li 2022Cancer Biology & Medicine2022,19,5:0
The role of microtubule-associated protein 1B in axonal growth and neuronal migration in the central nervous system显示文摘In this review,we discuss the role of microtubule-associated protein 1B(MAP1B) and its phosphorylation in axonal development and regeneration in the central nervous system.MAP1B exhibits similar functions during axonal development and regeneration.MAP1B and phosphorylated MAP1B in neurons and axons maintain a dynamic balance between cytoskeletal components, and regulate the stability and interaction of microtubules and actin to promote axonal growth, neural connectivity and regeneration in the central nervous system.Maoguang Yang Minfei Wu Peng Xia Chunxin Wang Peng Yan Qi Gao Jian Liu Haitao Wang Xingwei Duan Xiaoyu Yang 2012Neural Regeneration Research2012,7,11:0
