2Three-Dimensional Heat Transfer Analysis for A Thermal Energy Storage Canister显示文摘High temperature latent thermal storage is one of the critical techniques for a solar dynamic power system. This paper presents results from heat transfer analysis of a phase change salt containment canister A three-dimensional analysis program is developed to model heat transfer in a PCM canister. Analysis include effects of asymmetric circumference heat flux, conduction in canister walls, liquid PCM and solid PCM, void volume change and void location, and conduction and radiation across PCM vapor void. The PCM phase change process is modeled using the enthalpy method and the simulation results are compared with those of other two- dimensional investigations. 3Herbal compatibility of Traditional Chinese Medical formulas for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome显示文摘OBJECTIVE:Because herbal compatibility is one of the most important reasons why Traditional Chinese Medcine(TCM) formulas are effective for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS),our study aimed to determine the compatibility of herbs based on published AIDS clinical research in Chinese periodicals.To achieve this aim,we designed a new data-mining algorithm according to TCM data characteristics.METHODS:We found 25 clinical AIDS studies,all using Chinese herbs for treatment,in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Database System,and information on diagnosis and treatment was extracted.To find out herbal compatibility,especially the formulae for herbal combinations,we proposed an improved association rule algorithm based on the frequency of combinations.In this algorithm,all the compatibility relationships were displayed in a tree structure,by which the relationship between formulas and their derivation could be clearly inferred.RESULTS:Data analysis showed that approximately 100 herbs have been used for treating AIDS.Based on the whole herb compatibility tree,we calculated a basic formula for AIDS:Huang Qi combined with Ren Shen,Fu Ling,Bai Zhu,Bai Zhu,Dang Gui,and Bai Shao.This formula,deriving from most of clinical prescriptions,and was chosed by most of clinicians for AIDS treatment.From data mining we found that Qi replenishment and detoxification were the main treatment principles,which coincided with the AIDS pathological mechanism in which immune function is destroyed by human immunodeficiency virus(HIV).CONCLUSIONS:Our data-mining results suggest that the core TCM treatment of AIDS is replenishing Qi and detoxification,by which AIDS patients' immune system may be enhanced.Compatibility of Huang Qi with some frequently-used herbs have shown real efficacy in clinical practice,which warrants pharmacological research in the future.Meng Cui Jinghua Li Haiyan Li Chunxin Song 2012Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2012,32,3:5
4Experimental study on uplift mechanism of pipeline buried in sand using high-resolution fiber optic strain sensing nerves显示文摘Reliable assessment of uplift capacity of buried pipelines against upheaval buckling requires a valid failure mechanism and a reliable real-time monitoring technique.This paper presents a sensing solution for evaluating uplift capacity of pipelines buried in sand using fiber optic strain sensing(FOSS)nerves.Upward pipe-soil interaction(PSI)was investigated through a series of scaled tests,in which the FOSS and image analysis techniques were used to capture the failure patterns.The published prediction models were evaluated and modified according to observations in the present study as well as a database of 41 pipe loading tests assembled from the literature.Axial strain measurements of FOSS nerves horizontally installed above the pipeline were correlated with the failure behavior of the overlying soil.The test results indicate that the previous analytical models could be further improved regarding their estimations in the failure geometry and mobilization distance at the peak uplift resistance.For typical slip plane failure forms,inclined shear bands star from the pipe shoulder,instead of the springline,and have not yet reached the ground surface at the peak resistance.The vertical inclination of curved shear bands decreases with increasing uplift displacements at the post-peak periods.At large displacements,the upward movement is confined to the deeper ground,and the slip plane failure progressively changes to the flow-around.The feasibility of FOSS in pipe uplift resistance prediction was validated through the comparison with image analyses.In addition,the shear band locations can be identified using fiber optic strain measurements.Finally,the advantages and limits of the FOSS system are discussed in terms of different levels in upward PSI assessment,including failure identification,location,and quantification.Haojie Li Honghu Zhu Yuanhai Li Chunxin Zhang Bin Shi 2022Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2022,14,4:5
5Restoration of space-variant blurred image based on motion-blurred target segmentation显示文摘In imaging on moving target,it is easy to get spacevariant blurred image.In order to recover the image and gain recognizable target,an approach to recover the space-variant blurred image is presented based on image segmentation.Because of motion blur's convolution process,the pixels of observed image's target and background will be displaced and piled up to produce two superposition regions.As a result,the neighboring pixels in the superposition regions will have similar grey level change.According to the pixel's motion-blur character,the target's blurred edge of superposition region could be detected.Canny operator can be recurred to detect the target edge which parallels the motion blur direction.Then in the segmentation process,the whole target image which has the character of integral convolution between motion blur and real target image can be obtained.At last,the target image is restored by deconvolution algorithms with adding zeros.The restoration result indicates that the approach can effectively solve the kind of problem of space-variant motion blurred image restoration.Yuye Zhang Xuewei Wang Chunxin Wang 2010Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2010,21,2:4
6Investigation of water impingement on a multi-element high-lift airfoil by Lagrangian and Eulerian approach显示文摘McDonnell Douglas Aerospace(MDA)high-lift model is widely used in the study of multi-element airfoil,while there is still short knowledge of ice accretion and water impingement on it.In this paper,based on two-phase flow theory,two numerical models were presented by using both Eulerian approach and Lagrangian approach,respectively,in order to predict the water impingement efficiency on a two-dimensional(2D)multi-element high-lift airfoil.Both computational results were validated with the experiment data,which shown good agreements in the impingement limitations and tendency.The trend that how the attack angle and droplet diameter affect the feather of local water impingement characteristics on the different elements of MDA were further investigated.As shown in this research,the trends that the local impingement intensity and extent on flap of MDA varied differently as in general understanding due to the complex structures of flow field,which should be careful cognized in design of the ice protection system.Chenxing Yu Peng Ke Guangfeng Yu Chunxin Yang 2015Propulsion and Power Research2015,4,3:4
7Reexamination of Correlations for Nucleate SiteDistribution on Boiling Surface by Fractal Theory显示文摘Nucleate site distribution plays an essential role in nucleate boiling process. In this paper1 it is pointed out that the size and spatial distribution density of nucleate sites presented on real boiling surface can be described by the normalized fractal distribution function, and the physical meaning of parameters involved in some experimental correlations proposed by early investigations are identified according to fractal distribution function. 10Neural plasticity after spinal cord injury显示文摘Plasticity changes of uninjured nerves can result in a novel neural circuit after spinal cord injury, which can restore sensory and motor functions to different degrees. Although processes of neural plasticity have been studied, the mechanism and treatment to effectively improve neural plasticity changes remain controversial. The present study reviewed studies regarding plasticity of the central nervous system and methods for promoting plasticity to improve repair of injured central nerves. The results showed that synaptic reorganization, axonal sprouting, and neurogenesis are critical factors for neural circuit reconstruction. 12The investigation of internal solitary waves over a continental shelf-slope显示文摘Internal solitary waves(ISWs)always happen in marginal seas,where stable stratification exists.ISWs may carry large energy when they propagate and affect marine engineering constructions such as marine drilling platforms.Previous studies,including a large number of mooring observations and laboratory experiments,show the speed of ISWs will change when they pass by shelf slopes.Korteweg-de Vries(KdV)theory explain this phenomenon.In the paper,we use a laboratory experiment and a numerical model experiment to verify this theory.In the laboratory experiment,we injected two layers of water of different densities in a tank to simulate marine stratification and make ISWs.We use a CCD camera to record the whole process.The camera can take 16 photos per second.In the numerical experiment,we input the same original conditions as the laboratory one.The results of 18 different original conditions show the dimensionless factorδplays a key role in deciding the amplitudes and shapes of ISWs.The main conclusion also contains that small-amplitude waves match well with KdV theory while mKdV is better for largeamplitude waves.Whether the laboratory experiment or numerical experiment shows results with a high agreement.In future studies,we may use a numerical model with higher resolution to get analysis about phase speed and energy of ISWs.MA Qian YUAN Chunxin LIN Xiaopei CHEN Xue’en 2020Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,3:3

14A numerical study of generation and propagation of type-a and type-b internal solitary waves in the northern South China Sea显示文摘Numerical simulations based on a high-resolution three-dimensional MIT general circulation model(MITgcm)using realistic topography and tidal forcing are conducted to investigate the generation and propagation of the so-called type-a waves(large-amplitude rank-ordered wave packets)and type-b waves(isolated wave packets)in the northern South China Sea.At first,we summarized and analyzed the generation and propagation characteristics of these waves.Then,energy budget at the Luzon Strait is calculated.Energy generation has three local maxima every day,of which the largest one corresponds to the emergence of the type-a wave.Energy flux at the west boundary of the Luzon Strait shows two local maxima each day.The larger one is consistent with the generation of the type-a wave and the smaller one is in correspondence with the generation of the type-b wave.Sensitivity experiments are designed to explore the role of the east and west ridge of the Luzon Strait on the generation and propagation of the type-a and type-b waves.It is found that the east ridge is indispensable on the generation of the type-a wave while the west ridge has little contribution.The west ridge diminishes the type-a waves'amplitude but hardly changes their propagation speed.The type-b waves also come from perturbation signals which originate from the east ridge and are enhanced in amplitude and reduced in propagation speed by the west ridge.Zhi Zeng Xueen Chen Chunxin Yuan Shengquan Tang Lequan Chi 2019Acta Oceanologica Sinica2019,38,11:2
15Use of electrosense in the feeding behavior of sturgeons显示文摘The electro-receptive lateral line system appeared early in the evolutionary history of fish.Sturgeons,members of the primitive Chondrostei group,are known for their electroreceptors(ampullae of Lorenzini)on the head,which are thought to be sensitive to weak electric fields in aquatic environments and involved in feeding,mating and migration.Here,we report the results of a set of behavioral and electrophysiological experiments designed to determine the function and characteristics of the electrosense in cultured sturgeons.The results showed Sibe-rian sturgeon(Acipenser baerii Brandt,1869)feeding striking at bio-electric fields produced by living feed-fish enclosed in a gel chamber and at the corrosion field produced by metal rods.With an electric stimulus that mim-ics the bio-electric fields produced by living prey,the relative discharge rate of electrosensory neurons in the dorsal octavolateralis nucleus(DON)was modulated by and phase-locked to sinusoidal stimulus and some units showed selectivity for dipolar direction in white sturgeon(Acipenser transmontanus Richardson,1836).This is the first study to provide the empirical evidence correlating with electrosensory behaviors and electrophysiolog-ical responses in cultured sturgeons,and suggesting that electrosense does play an innate role in feeding behav-ior of sturgeon.We believe this will have important implications for protecting sturgeons in the wild.Xuguang ZHANG Jiakun SONG Chunxin FAN Hongyi GUO Xiaojie WANG Horst BLECKMANN 2012Integrative Zoology2012,7,1:2
16An international multicentric phaseⅢrandomized controlled trial of time-acupoints-space acupuncture for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced fatigue in patients with early stage breast cancer:a study protocol显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To determine the difference in prevention of chemotherapy-induced fatigue between time-acupointsspace acupuncture(ATAS)administered weekly compared to sham acupuncture and non-acupuncture in patients with early breast cancer receiving adjuvant chemotherapy by epirubicine-cyclophosphamide(EC)followed by paclitaxel,as measured by the multidimensional fatigue inventory(MFI)over the previous week and Visual Analogue Scale measuring fatigue(VAS-F),and to evaluate the effects of ATAS on selfreported neuropathy pain,sleep,anxiety and depression.METHODS:In this multicenter clinical trial,we have randomized patients into 3 groups:ATAS,Sham and nonacupuncture with an unequal randomization of 2∶1∶1.A cloud related electronical clinical report form and smartphone platform was established for data entry.Patients with a history of stageⅠ-Ⅲbreast cancer scheduled to receive adjuvant chemotherapy.Acupuncture will be delivered once a week during chemotherapy with VAS-F evaluation.In order to qualify and quantify the mechanism of fatigue induced by chemotherapy with or without acupuncture,an evaluation of immune profiling was incorporate in this study.RESULTS:The presence and seriousness of chemotherapy-induced fatigue should be considered in therapeutic programs for early breast cancer treatment.Fatigue induced by adjuvant chemotherapy in patients with breast cancer remains a major concern affecting the quality of life significantly.Unfortunately,we do not have effective pharmacological interventions yet.And clinical trials of acupuncture in preventing chemotherapyinduced fatigue in patients with early breast cancer have not been reported.CONCLUSION:The findings of the trial will allow us to determine the effects of acupuncture treatment approach.We will also be able to confirm whether ATAS is better than sham acupuncture and non-acupuncture treatments.Saghachian Mahasti Barry Caroline Asselain Bernard LI Yunfen NIE Jianyun LIU Dequan CHEN Dedian CHEN Chunxin Laura Estevez LI Wenhui Jean-Pierre Armand ZHU Miansheng JU Liya 2022Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2022,42,2:2
