4Cascade effects of crop species richness on the diversity of pest insects and their natural enemies显示文摘Understanding how plant species richness influences the diversity of herbivorous and predatory/parasitic arthropods is central to community ecology.We explore the effects of crop species richness on the diversity of pest insects and their natural enemies.Using data from a four-year experiment with five levels of crop species richness,we found that crop species richness significantly affected the pest species richness,but there were no significant effects on richness of the pests’natural enemies.In contrast,the species richness of pest insects significantly affected their natural enemies.These findings suggest a cascade effect where trophic interactions are strong between adjacent trophic levels,while the interactions between connected but nonadjacent trophic levels are weakened by the intermediate trophic level.High crop species richness resulted in a more stable arthropod community compared with communities in monoculture crops.Our results highlight the complicated cross-trophic interactions and the crucial role of crop diversity in the food webs of agro-ecosystems.SHI PeiJian HUI Cang MEN XingYuan ZHAO ZiHua OUYANG Fang GE Feng JIN XianShi CAO HaiFeng LI B.Larry 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,7:6

7Further understanding of an uncommon disease of combined small cell lung cancer: clinical features and prognostic factors of 114 cases显示文摘Objective: Combined small cell lung cancer(C-SCLC) is an uncommon subgroup of small cell lung cancer(SCLC) and few clinical data can be referred.Our study is to investigate the clinical features and prognostic factors of C-SCLC, as well as the role of multimodality treatment.Methods: Between January 2004 and December 2012, patients with histologically diagnosed C-SCLC were retrospectively analyzed.The survivals were evaluated with the Kaplan-Meier method.Univariate and multivariate analyses were used to evaluate potential prognostic factors.Results: One hundred and fourteen patients were enrolled, with a median age of 59(range: 20-79) years old.The most common combined component was squamous cell carcinoma(52.6%).Among these patients, the disease was stage Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ and Ⅳ in 9.6%, 19.3%, 46.5% and 24.6% of the patients, respectively.Eighty patients(70.2%)received at least two of the three modalities containing chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery.The median follow-up was 32.5 months.The median time of overall survival(OS) was 26.2 months.On univariate analysis,smoking(P=0.029), Karnofsky performance score(KPS) <80(P=0.000), advanced TNM stage(P=0.000), no surgery(P=0.010), positive resection margin(P=0.000), positive lymph nodes ≥4(P=0.000), positive lymph node ratio >10%(P=0.000) and non-multimodality treatment(P=0.004) were associated with poor OS.Multivariate analysis confirmed that smoking, advanced TNM stage, positive resection margin and positive lymph nodes ratio>10% were poor prognostic features.Conclusions: C-SCLC has a relatively early stage and good prognosis, which may due to the underestimated diagnosis in non-surgical patients.Multimodality therapy is recommended, especially for limited disease.Smoking,advanced TNM stage, positive resection margin and positive lymph nodes ratio >10% are poor prognostic factors.Yu Men Zhouguang Hui Jun Liang Qinfu Feng Dongfu Chen Hongxing Zhang Zefen Xiao Zongmei Zhou Weibo Yin Luhua Wang 2016Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2016,28,5:2
8Effects of crop species richness on pest-natural enemy systems based on an experimental model system using a microlandscape显示文摘The relationship between crop richness and predator-prey interactions as they relate to pest-natural enemy systems is a very important topic in ecology and greatly affects biological control services.The effects of crop arrangement on predator-prey interactions have received much attention as the basis for pest population management.To explore the internal mechanisms and factors driving the relationship between crop richness and pest population management,we designed an experimental model system of a microlandscape that included 50 plots and five treatments.Each treatment had 10 repetitions in each year from 2007 to 2010.The results showed that the biomass of pests and their natural enemies increased with increasing crop biomass and decreased with decreasing crop biomass;however,the effects of plant biomass on the pest and natural enemy biomass were not significant.The relationship between adjacent trophic levels was significant(such as pests and their natural enemies or crops and pests),whereas non-adjacent trophic levels(crops and natural enemies) did not significantly interact with each other.The ratio of natural enemy/pest biomass was the highest in the areas of four crop species that had the best biological control service.Having either low or high crop species richness did not enhance the pest population management service and lead to loss of biological control.Although the resource concentration hypothesis was not well supported by our results,high crop species richness could suppress the pest population,indicating that crop species richness could enhance biological control services.These results could be applied in habitat management aimed at biological control,provide the theoretical basis for agricultural landscape design,and also suggest new methods for integrated pest management.ZHAO ZiHua SHI PeiJian MEN XingYuan OUYANG Fang GE Feng 2013Science China(Life Sciences)2013,56,8:2

14Microbial and metabolomic mechanisms mediating the effects of dietary inulin and cellulose supplementation on porcine oocyte and uterine development显示文摘Background:Dietary fiber(DF)is often eschewed in swine diet due to its anti-nutritional effects,but DF is attracting growing attention for its reproductive benefits.The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of DF intake level on oocyte maturation and uterine development,to determine the optimal DF intake for gilts,and gain microbial and metabolomic insight into the underlying mechanisms involved.Methods:Seventy-six Landrace×Yorkshire(LY)crossbred replacement gilts of similar age(92.6±0.6 d;mean±standard deviation[SD])and body weight(BW,33.8±3.9 kg;mean±SD)were randomly allocated to 4 dietary treatment groups(n=19);a basal diet without extra DF intake(DF 1.0),and 3 dietary groups ingesting an extra50%(DF 1.5),75%(DF 1.75),and 100%(DF 2.0)dietary fiber mixture consisting of inulin and cellulose(1:4).Oocyte maturation and uterine development were assessed on 19 d of the 2nd oestrous cycle.Microbial diversity of faecal samples was analysed by high-throughput pyrosequencing(16S r RNA)and blood samples were subjected to untargeted metabolomics.Results:The rates of oocytes showing first polar bodies after in vitro maturation for 44 h and uterine development increased linearly with increasing DF intake;DF 1.75 gilts had a 19.8%faster oocyte maturation rate and a 48.9 cm longer uterus than DF 1.0 gilts(P<0.05).Among the top 10 microbiota components at the phylum level,8increased linearly with increasing DF level,and the relative abundance of 30 of 53 microbiota components at the genus level(>0.1%)increased linearly or quadratically with increasing DF intake.Untargeted metabolic analysis revealed significant changes in serum metabolites that were closely associated with microbiota,including serotonin,a gut-derived signal that stimulates oocyte maturation.Conclusions:The findings provide evidence of the benefits of increased DF intake by supplementing inulin and cellulose on oocyte maturation and uterine development in gilts,and new microbial and metabolomic insight into the mechanisms mediating the effects of DF on reproductive performance of replacement gilts.Zhaoyue Men Meng Cao Yuechan Gong Lun Hua Ruihao Zhang Xin Zhu Lianchao Tang Xuemei Jiang Shengyu Xu Jian Li Lianqiang Che Yan Lin Bin Feng Zhengfeng Fang De Wu Yong Zhuo 2022Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2022,13,3:1

16Residue behaviors and dietary risk of cyazofamid in turnip,onion and romaine lettuce assessed by a QuEChERS-LC-MS/MS methods显示文摘In this study, the dissipation, terminal residues and dietary risk of the cyazofamid residue in three globally consumed minor crops, turnip(Brassica rapa L.), onion(Allium cepa L.)and romaine lettuce(Lactuca sativa L.)were assessed by supervised field trials at 6 locations of China in 2020. A reliable QuEChERS-LC-MS/MS method was developed for simultaneous analysis of cyazofamid and its primary metabolite, 4-chloro-5-p-tolylimidazole-2-carbonitrile(CCIM). The average recoveries of cyazofamid and CCIM in turnip, onion and romaine lettuce were 79%–97% and 77%–99%, respectively. The half-lives of cyazofamid in these crops were 5.7–6.5, 5.3–8.7 and 5.8–6.5 days in turnip, onion and romaine lettuce, respectively, with the final cyazofamid residues at harvest all lower than limit of quantitation(LOQ, 0.01 mg/kg). The turnip roots, onion bulbs and romaine lettuce leaves grown in China under Good Agricultural Practices conditions and harvested 10, 14 and 5 days, respectively, after the cyazofamid SC(100 g/L)application, would be reasonably safe for consumption by the general population. 17La_(2)O_(3)-promoted Ni/H-ZSM-5 catalyzed aqueous-phase guaiacol hydrodeoxygenation to cyclohexanol显示文摘Hydrodeoxygenation(HDO)of renewable lignin-derived biomass in aqueous-phase to produce high value-added products is of great significance.However,developing new catalysts with high activity and excellent stability in an aqueous phase faces considerable challenges.Rare earth doping can effectively regulate the water exchange rate constant(WERC)value of the catalyst and play an important role in promoting the hydrolysis of ether bonds.Therefore,in this paper the bimetallic supported catalyst Ni-La_(2)O_(3)/H-ZSM-5 doped with rare earth metal La_(2)O_(3)was prepared,and used to catalyze the conversion of the lignin model co mpound guaiacol to cyclohexanol in the aqueous phase.The co nversion of guaiacol catalyzed by 10Ni-3La_(2)O_(3)/H-ZSM-5 reaches 100%,and the selectivity of the product cyclohexanol is 85%.A series of characterizations illustrate that the doping of La_(2)O_(3)causes the electron transfer between La_(2)O_(3)-Ni and changes the distribution of Ni,and a strong metal carrier interaction occurs between the bimetallic Ni-La_(2)O_(3)and H-ZSM-5.This can effectively promote the hydrolysis of the C-O ether bond in guaiacol and significantly improve the activity of the catalyst.The possible catalytic reaction mechanism of Ni-La_(2)O_(3)/H-ZSM-5 catalytic conversion of guaiacol was proposed.Feng Lin Yudan Zhong Yulong Ma Yonggang Sun Xiuqin Men Yingbo Zhu 2023Journal of Rare Earths2023,41,2:0
18Analysis of Volatile Constituents in Agrimonia pilosa Ledeb from Different Origins by GC-MS显示文摘[Objective]This study aimed to analyze the chemical composition of volatile oils in Agrimonia pilosa Ledeb.from different origins.[Method]HP-5MS capillary columns were used and column temperature was controlled by a program.MS analysis was performed with EI and quadruple mass analyzer.The chemical composition was identified by NIST02 and Wiley275 library,and the relative contents were determined with chromatographic peak area normalization method.[Result]According to GC-MS total ion-current chromatograms,41 chromatographic peaks of volatile constituents in A.pilosa from Zhejiang Province were separated,and 27 chemical compounds were identified,mainly including palmitic acid,cedrol and l-bornyl acetate;47 chromatographic peaks of volatile constituents in A.pilosa from Hunan Province were separated,and 27 chemical compounds were identified,mainly including palmitic acid,(-)-a-selinene andβ-bisabolene;22chromatographic peaks of volatile constituents in A.pilosa from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region were separated,and 13 chemical compounds were identified,mainly including palmitic acid,linoleic acid and caryophyllene oxide.Volatile constituents in A.pilosa from Zhejiang Province and Hunan Province exhibited similar species and contents with several unique compounds,and volatile oils in A.pilosa from these two origins varied significantly from volatile oils in A.pilosa from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.[Conclusion]This study provided an important basis for the development and utilization of volatile oils in A.pilosa.Chengzhi DU Hui WANG Xu FENG Yanfei MEN Yin LI 2015Agricultural Biotechnology2015,4,2:0
19No correlation between the diversity and productivity of assemblages: evidence from the phytophage and predator assemblages in various cotton agroecosystems显示文摘Biodiversity research has shown that primary productivity increases with plant species number,especially in many experimental grassland systems.Here,we assessed the correlation between productivity and diversity of phytophages and natural enemy assemblages associated with planting date and intercropping in four cotton agroecosystems.Twenty-one pairs of data were used to determine Pearson correlations between species richness,total number of individuals,diversity indices and productivity for each assemblage every five days from 5 June to 15 September 2012.At the same trophic level,the productivity exhibited a significant positive correlation with species richness of the phytophage or predator assemblage.A significant correlation was found between productivity and total number of individuals in most cotton fields.However,no significant correlations were observed between productivity and diversity indices(including indices of energy flow diversity and numerical diversity)in most cotton fields for either the phytophage or the predator assemblages.Species richness of phytophage assemblage and total individual numbers were significantly correlated with primary productivity.Also,species richness of natural enemy assemblage and total number of individuals correlated with phytophage assemblage productivity.A negative but not significant correlation occurred between the indices of numerical diversity and energy flow diversity and lower trophic-level productivity in the cotton-phytophage and phytophage-predator assemblages for most intercropped cotton agroecosystems.Our results clearly showed that there were no correlations between diversity indices and productivity within the same or lower trophic levels within the phytophage and predator assemblages in cotton agroecosystems,and inter-cropped cotton fields had a stronger ability to support the natural enemy assemblage and potentially to reduce phytophages.GAO Feng MEN XingYuan GE Feng 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,9:0
20A non-structural protein encoded by Rice Dwarf Virus targets to the nucleus and chloroplast and inhibits local RNA silencing显示文摘RNA silencing is a potent antiviral mechanism in plants and animals. As a counter-defense, many viruses studied to date encode one or more viral suppressors of RNA silencing(VSR). In the latter case, how different VSRs encoded by a virus function in silencing remains to be fully understood. We previously showed that the nonstructural protein Pns10 of a Phytoreovirus, Rice dwarf virus(RDV), functions as a VSR. Here we present evidence that another nonstructural protein, Pns11, also functions as a VSR. While Pns10 was localized in the cytoplasm, Pns11 was localized both in the nucleus and chloroplasts. Pns11 has two bipartite nuclear localization signals(NLSs), which were required for nuclear as well as chloroplastic localization. The NLSs were also required for the silencing activities of Pns11. This is the first report that multiple VSRs encoded by a virus are localized in different subcellular compartments, and that a viral protein can be targeted to both the nucleus and chloroplast.
