3Phylogenetic Analyses Reveal a Unique Species of Elaphe(Serpentes,Colubridae)New to Science显示文摘The snakes comprising the monophyletic group referred to as ratsnakes are found throughout Asia,Europe and the New World.Recently,three snake samples likely belonging to the ratsnakes were collected in Zoige County,Sichuan Province,China.Species identity was difficult to delimit morphologically because the specimens were juveniles and partially damaged.Subsequently,a molecular phylogenetic approach was used.Portions of three mitochondrial genes(cyt b,ND4 and 12S rRNA) were sequenced and analyzed.The results showed that they were sister to the genus Elaphe.Very little genetic variation was found among the three samples.The minimum genetic distances between these samples and those within Elaphe were greater than any currently recognized species within the genus.We conclude that this likely represents a new species within the genus Elaphe.Adult specimens and a morphologic description are needed for further study.LING Chen LIU Shaoying HUANG Song Frank T.Burbrink GUO Peng SUN Zhiyu ZHAO Jie 2010Asian Herpetological Research2010,1,2:4
4Ultrathin wavy Rh nanowires as highly effective electrocatalysts for methanol oxidation reaction with ultrahigh ECSA显示文摘Direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs) have received tremendous research interests because of the facile storage of liquid methanol vs.hydrogen.However,the DMFC today is severely plagued by the poor kinetics and rather high overpotential in methanol oxidation reaction (MOR).Here we report the investigation of the ultrathin Rh wavy nanowires as a highly effective MOR electrocatalyst.We show that ultrathin wavy Rh nanowires can be robustly synthesized with 2-3 nm diameters.Electrochemical studies show a current peak at the potential of 0.61 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE),considerably lower than that of Pt based catalysts (~ 0.8-0.9 V vs.RHE).Importantly,with ultrathin diameters and favorable charge transport,the Rh nanowires catalysts exhibit an ultrahigh electrochemically active surface area determined from CO-stripping (ECSAco) of 144.2 m2/g,far exceeding that of the commercial Rh black samples (20 m2/g).Together,the Rh nanowire catalysts deliver a mass activity of 722 mA/mg at 0.61 V,considerably higher than many previously reported electrocatalysts at the same potential.The chronoamperometry studies also demonstrate good stability and CO-tolerance compared with the Rh black control sample,making ultrathin Rh wavy nanowires an attractive electrocatalyst for MOR.Xiaoyang Fu Zipeng Zhao Chengzhang Wan Yiliu Wang Zheng Fan Frank Song Bocheng Cao Mufan Li Wang Xue Yu Huang Xiangfeng Duan 2019Nano Research2019,12,1:3
5Cardiomyocyte peroxisome proliferator-activated receptorαis essential for energy metabolism and extracellular matrix homeostasis during pressure overload-induced cardiac remodeling显示文摘Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptorα(PPARα),a ligand-activated nuclear receptor critical for systemic lipid homeostasis,has been shown closely related to cardiac remodeling.However,the roles of cardiomyocyte PPARαin pressure overload-induced cardiac remodeling remains unclear because of lacking a cardiomyocyte-specific Ppara-deficient(Ppara^(ΔCM))mouse model.This study aimed to determine the specific role of cardiomyocyte PPARαin transverse aortic constriction(TAC)-induced cardiac remodeling using an inducible Ppara^(ΔCM) mouse model.Ppara^(ΔCM) and Pparafl/fl mice were randomly subjected to sham or TAC for 2 weeks.Cardiomyocyte PPARαdeficiency accelerated TAC-induced cardiac hypertrophy and fibrosis.Transcriptome analysis showed that genes related to fatty acid metabolism were dramatically downregulated,but genes critical for glycolysis were markedly upregulated in Ppara^(ΔCM) hearts.Moreover,the hypertrophy-related genes,including genes involved in extracellular matrix(ECM)remodeling,cell adhesion,and cell migration,were upregulated in hypertrophic Ppara^(ΔCM) hearts.Western blot analyses demonstrated an increased HIF1αprotein level in hypertrophic Ppara^(ΔCM) hearts.PET/CT analyses showed an enhanced glucose uptake in hypertrophic Ppara^(ΔCM) hearts.Bioenergetic analyses further revealed that both basal and maximal oxygen consumption rates and ATP production were significantly increased in hypertrophic Pparafl/fl hearts;however,these increases were markedly blunted in Ppara^(ΔCM) hearts.In contrast,hypertrophic Ppara^(ΔCM) hearts exhibited enhanced extracellular acidification rate(ECAR)capacity,as reflected by increased basal ECAR and glycolysis but decreased glycolytic reserve.These results suggest that cardiomyocyte PPARαis crucial for the homeostasis of both energy metabolism and ECM during TAC-induced cardiac remodeling,thus providing new insights into potential therapeutics of cardiac remodeling-related diseases.Xia Wang Xin-xin Zhu Shi-yu Jiao Dan Qi Bao-qi Yu Guo-min Xie Ye Liu Yan-ting Song Qing Xu Qing-bo Xu Frank JGonzalez Jie Du Xiao-min Wang Ai-juan Qu 2022Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2022,43,5:3

7Preliminary study of microstructure, mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of antibacterial Ti-15Zr-xCu alloy for dental application显示文摘Ti-15 Zr-xCu(3≤x≤7,wt.%) novel antibacterial and antibiofilm alloys with competitive mechanical properties,biological responses and corrosion resistance were designed and fabricated.Annealing heat treatment on Ti-15 Zr-7 Cu(TZC-7 A),after holding for 2 h at slightly above their beta transus temperature(BTT) ensured their tensile strength(UTS),yield strength(YS) and hardness(HRV) were improved by31.2%,20% and 12.3% respectively compared to the control without Cu,Ti-15 Zr(T-15 ZA).Although the3 wt.% Cu alloy displayed the highest elongation(26%),the TZC-7 A alloy also possessed a good ductility.Presence of evenly dispersed Ti2 Cu and Zr2 Cu Cu-rich intermetallic phases formed as interwoven and alternating lamellae within the α+β matrix as a result of Cu addition,as revealed by X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).These greatly contributed to their strengthening and bactericidal properties.Over 98% antibacterial effect against E.coli and S.aureus have been imparted,coupled with excellent biofilm inhibition.Potentiodynamic polarization curves showed that the TZC-7 A alloy possessed higher corrosion resistance than commercially pure titanium,cp-Ti;contact angle test revealed enhanced hydrophilicity;while confocal laser scanning microscopy(CLSM) and cell counting kit(CCK-8) assays also displayed drastically lowered bacterial adhesion rate with comparatively no cytotoxicity.Cell attachment on all alloys was similar but the best spread was obtained on TZC-7 A after 24 h.The developed alloy has good potential as an antibacterial implant material with combination of optimized properties.Sharafadeen Kunle Kolawole Wang Hai Shuyuan Zhang Ziqing Sun Muhammad Ali Siddiqui Ihsan Ullah Wei Song Frank Witte Ke Yang 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,47,15:2
