| 1 | GSA:Genome Sequence Archive显示文摘With the rapid development of sequencing technologies towards higher throughput and lower cost, sequence data are generated at an unprecedentedly explosive rate. To provide an efficient and easy-to-use platform for managing huge sequence data, here we present Genome Sequence Archive(GSA; http://bigd.big.ac.cn/gsa or http://gsa.big.ac.cn), a data repository for archiving raw sequence data. In compliance with data standards and structures of the International Nucleotide Sequence Database Collaboration(INSDC), GSA adopts four data objects(Bio Project, Bio Sample,Experiment, and Run) for data organization, accepts raw sequence reads produced by a variety of sequencing platforms, stores both sequence reads and metadata submitted from all over the world,and makes all these data publicly available to worldwide scientific communities. | 2 | Fracture analysis of rock mass based on 3-D nonlinear Finite Element Method显示文摘Traditional fracture analysis is based on fracture mechanics and damage mechanics. They focus on the propagation of the fracture. However, their propagation criterions are not easily applied in practice and the current analysis is limited in planar problem. This paper presents a new theory that the occurrence of the unbalanced force (derived from the Deformation Reinforcement Theory) could be the criterion of the initiation of the fracture, and the distribution area and propagation of the unbalanced force could be the indication of the fracture propagation direction. By aggregate analysis with Stress Intensity Factor (SIF) criterion, the unbalanced force actually is the opposite external load that is the SIF difference incurred between the external loads and permitted by the structure. Numerical simulation and physical experiments on pre-fracture cuboid rock specimens proved that the occurrence of the unbalanced force could be the initiation of the fracture. Mesh size dependence was also considered by analysis of different mesh size finite element gravity dam models. Furthermore, the theory was applied to the feasibility analysis of the Baihetan arch dam together with physical experiments in order to evaluate the fracture propagation of dam heel. | 3 | Slope Seismic Response Monitoring on the Aftershocks of the Wenchuan Earthquake in the Mianzhu Section显示文摘Previous investigations have shown that the seismic response of slopes during the Wenchuan earthquake was highly variable.The present study tries to give an answer to the question:Which are the main factors affecting the seismic response degree of slopes? | 4 | Interference torque of a three-floated gyroscope with gas-lubricated bearings subject to a sudden change of the specific force显示文摘A numerical study is carried out to investigate the influence of a sudden change of the specific force on a three-floated gyroscope with a rotor supported on gas-lubricated bearings.The interference torque is calculated to evaluate the influence by modeling the transient behavior of the rotor-bearing system. In combination with dynamic equations of the rotor displacement,the Reynolds equation is solved on the surface of spiral-grooved conical bearings. It is assumed that a steady state has been obtained with a constant specific force, and then the specific force is suddenly changed and maintained constant after that. Responses of the sudden change are obtained by solving the equations. Numerical results show that the direction of the sudden change of the specific force is the main factor which influences the interference torque curve. With a sudden change along the input direction, the interference torque fluctuation has a constant frequency and a decreasing amplitude. With a sudden change along the output direction, the interference torque fluctuates in a small range. With a sudden change along the spin direction, the change of the interference torque combines a fluctuation and a gradually-changing quasi-equilibrium value. | 6 | The reflection of hierarchical cluster analysis of co-occurrence matrices in SPSS显示文摘Purpose: To discuss the problems arising from hierarchical cluster analysis of co-occurrence matrices in SPSS, and the corresponding solutions.Design/methodology/approach: We design different methods of using the SPSS hierarchical clustering module for co-occurrence matrices in order to compare these methods. We offer the correct syntax to deactivate the similarity algorithm for clustering analysis within the hierarchical clustering module of SPSS.Findings: When one inputs co-occurrence matrices into the data editor of the SPSS hierarchical clustering module without deactivating the embedded similarity algorithm, the program calculates similarity twice, and thus distorts and overestimates the degree of similarity.Practical implications: We offer the correct syntax to block the similarity algorithm for clustering analysis in the SPSS hierarchical clustering module in the case of co-occurrence matrices. This syntax enables researchers to avoid obtaining incorrect results.Originality/value: This paper presents a method of editing syntax to prevent the default use of a similarity algorithm for SPSS's hierarchical clustering module. | 10 | Characteristics of mineral elements in shoots of three annual halophytes in a saline desert, Northern Xinjiang显示文摘Halophytes are valuable salt-, alkali-and drought-resistant germplasm resources. However, the characteristics of mineral elements in halophytes have not been investigated as intensively as those in crops. This study attempted to investigate the characteristics of mineral elements for annual halophytes during their growth period to reveal their possible physiological mechanisms of salt resistance. By using three native annual halophytes (Salsola subcrassa, Suaeda acuminate and Petrosimonia sibirica) distributed in the desert in Northern Xinjiang of China, the dynamic changes in the mineral element contents of annual halophytes were analyzed through field sampling and laboratory analyses. The results demonstrated that the annual halophytes were able to absorb water and mineral nutrients selectively. In the interaction between the annual halophytes and saline soil, the adaptability of the annual halophytes was manifested as the accumulation of S, Na and Cl during the growth period and maintenance of water and salt balance in the plant, thus ensuring their selective absorption of N, P, K, Ca, Mg and other mineral nutrients according to their growth demand.
