1Study on Mach stems induced by interaction of planar shock waves on two intersecting wedges显示文摘The properties of Mach stems in hypersonic corner flow induced by Mach interaction over 3D intersecting wedges were studied theoretically and numerically.A new method called 'spatial dimension reduction' was used to analyze theoretically the location and Mach number behind Mach stems. By using this approach, the problem of 3D steady shock/shock interaction over 3D intersecting wedges was transformed into a 2D moving one on cross sections, which can be solved by shock-polar theory and shock dynamics theory. The properties of Mach interaction over 3D intersecting wedges can be analyzed with the new method,including pressure, temperature, density in the vicinity of triple points, location, and Mach number behind Mach stems.Theoretical results were compared with numerical results,and good agreement was obtained. 2Shock/shock interactions between bodies and wings显示文摘This paper examines the Shock/Shock Interactions(SSI)between the body and wing of aircraft in supersonic flows.The body is simplified to a flat wedge and the wing is assumed to be a sharp wing.The theoretical spatial dimension reduction method,which transforms the 3D problem into a 2D one,is used to analyze the SSI between the body and wing.The temperature and pressure behind the Mach stem induced by the wing and body are obtained,and the wave configurations in the corner are determined.Numerical validations are conducted by solving the inviscid Euler equations in 3D with a Non-oscillatory and Non-free-parameters Dissipative(NND)finite difference scheme.Good agreements between the theoretical and numerical results are obtained.Additionally,the effects of the wedge angle and sweep angle on wave configurations and flow field are considered numerically and theoretically.The influences of wedge angle are significant,whereas the effects of sweep angle on wave configurations are negligible.This paper provides useful information for the design and thermal protection of aircraft in supersonic and hypersonic flows.Gaoxiang XIANG Chun WANG Honghui TENG Zonglin JIANG 2018Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2018,31,2:5
3Single-cell transcriptomes of peripheral blood cells indicate and elucidate severity of COVID-19显示文摘The blood and immune system of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)infected patients are dysfunctional,and numerous studies have been conducted to resolve their characteristics and pathogenic mechanisms.Nevertheless,the variations of immune responses along with disease severity have not been comprehensively documented.Here,we profiled the single-cell transcriptomes of 96,313 peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs)derived from 12 COVID-19 patients(including four moderate,four severe and four critical cases)and three healthy donors.We showed that proliferative CD8 effector T cells with declined immune functions and cytotoxicity accumulated in the critical stage.By contrast,the quantity of natural killer(NK)cells was significantly reduced,while they exhibited enhanced immune activities.Notably,a gradually attenuated responseto COVID-19 along with disease severity was observed in monocytes,in terms of cellular composition,transcriptional discrepancy and transcription factor regulatory network.Furthermore,we identified immune cell-type dependent cytokine signatures distinguishing the severity of COVID-19 patients.In addition,cell interactions between CD8 effector T/NK cells and monocytes mediated by inflammatory cytokines were enhanced in moderate and severe stages,but weakened in critical cases.Collectively,our work uncovers the cellular and molecular players underlying the disordered and heterogeneous immune responses associated with COVID-19 severity,which could provide valuable insights for the treatment of critical COVID-19 patients.Xiaowei Xie Xuelian Cheng Gaoxiang Wang Biao Zhang Mengyao Liu Liting Chen Hui Cheng Sha Hao Jianfeng Zhou Ping Zhu Tao Cheng 2021Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,10:3

5IntegrinαEβ7^(+)T cells direct intestinal stem cell fate decisions via adhesion signaling显示文摘Intestinal stem cell(ISC)differentiation is regulated precisely by a niche in the crypt,where lymphocytes may interact with stem and transient amplifying(TA)cells.However,whether and how lymphocyte–stem/TA cell contact affects ISC differentiation is largely unknown.Here,we uncover a novel role of T cell–stem/TA cell contact in ISC fate decisions.We show that intestinal lymphocyte depletion results in skewed ISC differentiation in mice,which can be rescued by T cell transfer.Mechanistically,integrinαEβ7 expressed on T cells binds to E-cadherin on ISCs and TA cells,triggering E-cadherin endocytosis and the consequent Wnt and Notch signaling alterations.BlockingαEβ7−E-cadherin adhesion suppresses Wnt signaling and promotes Notch signaling in ISCs and TA cells,leading to defective ISC differentiation.Thus,αEβ7^(+)T cells regulate ISC differentiation at single-cell level through cell–cell contact-mediatedαEβ7−E-cadherin adhesion signaling,highlighting a critical role of the T cell–stem/TA cell contact in maintaining intestinal homeostasis.Shiyang Chen Yajuan Zheng Xiaojuan Ran Hui Du Hua Feng Lei Yang Yating Wen Changdong Lin Shihui Wang Mengwen Huang Zhanjun Yan Dianqing Wu Hongyan Wang Gaoxiang Ge An Zeng Yi Arial Zeng Jianfeng Chen 2021Cell Research2021,31,12:3
6Rice(Oryza sativa L.)seedlings enriched with zinc or manganese:Their impacts on cadmium accumulation and expression of related genes显示文摘Cadmium(Cd)contamination in paddy soils means that the rice produced there may be unsafe for human consumption.A hydroponic study was conducted to enrich rice seedlings with zinc(Zn)or manganese(Mn),and the uptake and transport characteristics of Cd in these Zn-and Mn-rich seedlings were subsequently investigated using a greenhouse pot trial.The results showed that hydroponic cultivation in 10-50μmol L^(-1) Zn(ZnSO_(4)·7 H_(2)O)or50-250μmol L^(-1) Mn(MnSO_(4)·H_(2)O)for 30 d had no significant impact on rice growth,while the accumulation of Zn and Mn was 7.31-18.5 and 25.4-47.7 times higher,respectively,than in the control(no Zn or Mn addition).The accumulation of Cd in the Zn-and Mn-rich rice plants was 26.3%-38.6% and 34.4%-44.5% lower than that in the control,respectively,and the translocation factors of Cd from roots to shoots also decreased by 23.3%-41.3% and 25.3%-37.0%,respectively,after transplanting to Cd-contaminated soils.Furthermore,the relative expression levels of OsIRT1(Oryza sativa iron-regulated transporter 1)were downregulated by 40.1%-59.3% and 16.0%-25.9%,respectively,in the Zn-and Mn-rich seedling roots.This downregulation may indicate a possible mechanism contributing to the reductions in Cd absorption.Field experiments confirmed that the Zn-and Mn-rich seedlings produced brown rice(unpolished rice grains)with significantly decreased concentrations of Cd(34.2%-44.4%).This study provides an innovative method for reducing the food safety risks from rice grown on slightly to moderately Cd-contaminated paddy soils.Gaoxiang HUANG Changfeng DING Yibing MA Yurong WANG Zhigao ZHOU Shun'an ZHENG Xingxiang WANG 2021Pedosphere2021,31,6:2
7Protein C receptor is a therapeutic stem cell target in a distinct group of breast cancers显示文摘Breast cancer is a heterogeneous disease.In particular,triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)comprises various molecular subgroups with unclear identities and currently has few targeted treatment options.Our previous study identified protein C receptor(Procr)as a surface marker on mammary stem cells(MaSCs)located in the basal layer of the normal mammary gland.Given the possible connection of TNBC with basal layer stem cells,we conducted comparative analyses of Procr in breast cancers of mouse and human origin.In mouse mammary tumors,we showed that Procr+cells are enriched for cancer stem cells(CSCs)in Wnt1 basal-like tumors,but not in Brea basal-like tumors or PyVT luminal tumors.In human cancers,PROCR was robustly expressed in half of TNBC cases.Experiments with patient-derived xenografts(PDXs)revealed that PROCR marks CSCs in this discrete subgroup(referred to as PROCR+TNBC).Interfering with the function of PROCR using an inhibitory nanobody reduced the CSC numbers,arrested tumor growth and prevented rapid tumor recurrence.Our data suggest a key role of MaSC in breast tumorigenesis.Moreover,our work indicates that PROCR can be used as a biomarker to stratify TNBC into clinically relevant subgroups and may provide a novel targeted treatment strategy for this clinically important tumor subtype.Daisong Wang Xin Hu Chunye Liu Yingying Jia Yiqin Bai Cheguo Cai Jingqiang Wang Lanyue Bai Ruikai Yang ChangDong Lin Yi-Rong Liu Shan Li Feng Qiao Ling Yao Li Chen Gaoxiang Ge Hai Jiang Dianfan Li Lin Li JianFeng Chen Zhi-Ming Shao Yi Arial Zeng 2019Cell Research2019,29,10:2

13Algorithms for determination of land surface temperatures and emissivities from satellite radiative measurements显示文摘Deriving LST from satellite radiative measurements is desirable, but the accurate determination of LST is very difficult, whcih is related to the atmospheric effect, the nonuniformity of land surface and the coupling between surface temperature and emissivity. In particular, the coupling between the land surface temperature and emissivity constructs a severe obstacle for the accurate determination of LST, because at present, the knowledge about global and surface emissivity is still very deficient. Based on the assumption that the change of emissivity is normally negligible in a short period of time a two_channel method is proposed to determine LSTs and emissivities, simultaneously, in which a set of measurement data of two channels made at two different time, day and night or two continuous days or nights, are used. 15Parameterization for narrow band shortwave optical properties of water clouds显示文摘Based on the drop size distribution models built from the observational data of microphysical properties of water clouds, the relationships between the optical properties and microphysical characteristics of water clouds have been investigated, and some different parameterization schemes of cloud optical properties have been analyzed. 16Characteristics and formation mechanism of siltstone-mudstone rhythmic sedimentary sections in the Lower Silurian Longmaxi Formation in the Changning area,South Sichuan Basin,southwest China显示文摘The Lower Member of the Longrnaxi Forma-tion is generally dominated by siliceous shale,but recently we found some siltstone-mudstone rhythm sections developed in the Lower Member of the Longmaxi Formation.The study of formation mechanism of siltstone-mudstone rhythmic sedimentary sections may provide new insights into the shale sedimentary environ-ment.Therefore,we studied the characteristics and formation mechanism of siltstone-mudstone rhythmic sedimentary sections in the Lower Member of the Long-maxi Formation in the Changning area based on core observation,thin section identification,major elements and trace elements analysis.The results show the following:1)Two siltstone-mudstone rhythmic sedimentary sections are characterized by frequent interbed between black or gray-black shale and light gray siltstone,abundant argillaceous laminas and silty laminas,with obvious lithological boundaries having developed.Horizontal laminas and rhythmic laminas are well-developed in the shale layer,while the wavy laminas are well-developed in the siltstone layer.2)The major compositional elements are SiO2,Al2O3 and CaO,followed by Fe_(2)O_(3),MgO,K_(2)O and Na_(2)O.3)Compared with the world average shale,these siltstone-mudstone rhythmic sedimentary sections are rich in Mo,U and Ba,but less in V,Co,Ni,Cu.Compared with the shale layer,the siltstone layer has lower contents of V,Co and Ni.4).The geochemical redox indices,Mo-U and CIA values suggest the formation of the siltstone-mudstone rhythmic sedimentary sections are related to influences from bottom currents in an oxic condition with a warm and humid paleoclimate.Gaoxiang WANG Lei CHEN Yang YANG Cui JING Man CHEN Xiucheng TAN Xin CHEN Di CAO Zibo WEI Minglong LI Dong HUANG 2021Frontiers of Earth Science2021,15,4:0
