3Crust and upper mantle structure of the Ailao Shan-Red River fault zone and adjacent regions显示文摘Using arrival data of the body waves recorded by seismic stations, we reconstructed the velocity structure of the crust and upper mantle beneath the southeastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau and the northwestern continental margin of the South China Sea through a travel time tomography technique. The result revealed the apparent tectonic variation along the Ailao Shan-Red River fault zone and its adjacent regions. High velocities are observed in the upper and middle crust beneath the Ailao Shan-Red River fault zone and they reflect the character of the fast uplifting and cooling of the metamorphic belt after the ductile shearing of the fault zone, while low velocities in the lower crust and near the Moho imply a relatively active crust-mantle boundary beneath the fault zone. On the west of the fault zone, the large-scale low velocities in the uppermost mantle beneath western Yunnan prove the influence of the mantle heat flow on volcano, hot spring and magma activities, however, the upper mantle on the east of the fault zone shows a relatively stable structure similar to the Yangtze block. 5Bi-directional Selection in Upland Rice Leads to Its Adaptive Differentiation from Lowland Rice in Drought Resistance and Productivity显示文摘Drought resistance is required in rice breeding to address the challenge of frequent droughts . However, the evolutionary mechanism of rice drought resistance is not fully understood. We investigated the genetic differentiation between upland and lowland rice domesticated in agro-ecosystems with contrasting water-soil conditions using genome-wide SNPs. We estimated morphological differences among upland and lowland rice in drought resistance and productivity through common garden experiments. Upland rice had better drought resistance but poorer productivity. The negative correlations between traits of drought resistance and productivity are attributed to the underlying genetic trade-offs through tight linkages (e.g., DCA1 and OsCesA7) or pleiotropic effects (e.g., LAX1). The genetic trade-offs are comm on and greatly shape the evolutio n of drought resista nee in upland rice . In genomic regions associated with both productivity and drought resistance, signs of balancing selection were detected in upland rice, while signs of directional selection were detected in lowland rice, potentially contributing to their adaptive differentiation. Signs of balancing selection in upland rice resulted from bi-directional selection during its domestication in drought-prone upland agro-ecosystems.Using genome-wide association analysis, we ide ntified several valuable quantitative trait loci associated with drought resista nee, for which highly differentiated genes should be considered candidates. 8Effects of Dietary Stachyose on Growth Performance, Digestive Enzyme Activities and Intestinal Morphology of Juvenile Turbot(Scophthalmus maximus L)显示文摘A 12-week feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary stachyose on the growth performance, digestive enzymes activities and intestinal structures of juvenile turbot(Scophthalmus maximus L). Five isonitrogenous(49.58% crude protein) and isolipidic(10.50% crude lipid) diets were formulated to contain 0(Control), 0.625%(S-0.625), 1.25%(S-1.25), 2.5%(S-2.5) and 5%(S-5) stachyose, respectively. With the increase of stachyose level, the growth performance and feed utilization of turbot, such as the specific growth rate, final mean body weight, weight gain rate and feed efficiency, increased significantly(P < 0.05) and then stabilized. The feed intake of fish fed S-5 was significantly higher(P < 0.05) than that of fish in other groups. The activities of trypsin, intestinal caseinolytic, stomach and intestinal amylase were significantly influenced by stachyose(P < 0.05). The highest values of trypsin and intestinal caseinolytic activities were observed in group S-1.25, while the highest activity of stomach amylase and the lowest activity of intestine amylase were observed in group S-5. No lesion or damage was found on the distal intestine structures of fish from all treatments, while the height of simple folds in the distal intestine was significantly increased(P< 0.05) when 1.25% or 2.5% stachyose was added in the diets. 9Effects of effective population size on the F_2 growth and survival of bay scallop Argopecten irradians irradians (Lamarck)显示文摘In 2002, six cohorts of broodstock bay scallop Argopecten irradians irradians (Ne=1, 2, 10, 30, 50 and control) were randomly chosenfrom a population of bay scallop to produce offspring. After one year rearing, with the progeny matured, the similar experiment wasdone to produce the F2 generation. To determine the magnitude of Ne effects, the growth and survival rates in larvae and adult of six F2groups were compared. Results showed that inbreeding depression existed not only in the Ne=l group but also in the Ne=2 group. Thegrowth and survival rates of the two groups were significantly lower than those of the other groups (Ne=10, 30, 50, control), and therewere no significant differences among the latter (P>0.05). At the same time, the amount of depression in the Ne=1 group was signifi-cantly higher than that of the Ne=2 group (P<0.05). These results indicated that the low effective population size (Ne), which increasesthe possibility of inbreeding, could lead to some harmful effects on the offspring. So it is essential to maintain a high level of Ne incommercial seed production. 10Actively priming autophagic cell death with novel transferrin receptor-targeted nanomedicine for synergistic chemotherapy against breast cancer显示文摘Recently, considerable attention in the field of cancer therapy has been focused on the mammalian rapamycin target(m TOR), inhibition of which could result in autophagic cell death(ACD). Though novel combination chemotherapy of autophagy inducers with chemotherapeutic agents is extensively investigated, nanomedicine-based combination therapy for ACD remains in infancy. In attempt to actively trigger ACD for synergistic chemotherapy, here we incorporated autophagy inducer rapamycin(RAP) into 7 pep-modified PEG-DSPE polymer micelles(7 pep-M-RAP) to specifically target and efficiently priming ACD of MCF-7 human breast cancer cells with high expression of transferrin receptor(Tf R). Cytotoxic paclitaxel(PTX)-loaded micelle(7 pep-M-PTX) was regarded as chemotherapeutic drug model. We discovered that with superior intracellular uptake in vitro and more tumor accumulation of micelles in vivo, 7 pep-M-RAP exhibited excellent autophagy induction and synergistic antitumor efficacy with 7 pep-M-PTX. Mechanism study further revealed that 7 pep-M-RAP and 7 pep-MPTX used in combination provided enhanced efficacy through induction of both apoptosis-and mitochondria-associated autophagic cell death. 11Seasonal variability in free-living marine nematode community structure in a sandy beach of the Taiping Bay of Qingdao,China显示文摘Nematode assemblage composition, trophic structure and biodiversity were followed over an annual cycle in a sandy beach of the Taiping Bay of Qingdao, China. Nematode assemblage in the sandy beach maintained a high genus diversity (75 genera). Microlaimus and Bathylaimus were the dominant genus of the nematode assemblage, accounting for 66% of the total nematode abundance. The nematodes' dominant trophic structure changed seasonally as a response to the seasonal changes in food quality. Epigrowth-feeder nematodes (2A) were the dominant trophic groups in the trophic structure with the highest abundance in spring because of phytoplankton bloom, while the feeding type (1B) showed higher abundance in summer that was due to the increasing of sediment detritus after spring bloom. Furthermore, species diversity and evenness calculated on nematodes identified to the genus level displayed significant temporal changes, which was also reflected by the index of trophic diversity. According to the cluster analysis, the nematode community structure of the whole year was clearly separated into two periods (A and B). Biota-Environment matching (BIOENV) results showed that seawater temperature,sediment Chl a and grain size were responsible for the nematode community structure variation in spring and summer period (Period A). 12Grain size effect on wear resistance of WC-Co cemented carbides under different tribological conditions显示文摘The grain-size dependence of wear resistance of WC-Co cemented carbides(with mean WC grain sizes of 2.2μm,1.6μm,0.8μm and 0.4μm,respectively)was investigated under different tribological conditions.The results showed that the grain size had opposite effects on wear resistance of the cemented carbides in dry sliding wear and microabrasion tests.In the former condition,with decrease of WC grain size hence the increase of hardness,plastic deformation,fracture,fragmentation and oxidation were all mitigated,leading to a drastic decrease in the wear rate.In the latter condition,pull-out of WC grains after Co removal dominated the wear,so that the hardness of cemented carbide was not a core factor.As a result,the wear resistance of the cemented carbide generally showed a decreasing trend with decrease of the grain size,except for a slight increase in the ultrafine-grained cemented carbide.Single-pass scratching of the cemented carbides under various loads indicated the same failure mechanism as that in the sliding wear tests.Furthermore,the reasons for severe surface oxidation of the coarse-grained cemented carbides were disclosed.Haibin Wang Mark Gee Qingfan Qiu Hannah Zhang Xuemei Liu Hongbo Nie Xiaoyan Song Zuoren Nie 2019Journal of Materials Science & Technology2019,35,11:6
13Enhanced Photoelectrochemical Properties of Cu_2O-loaded Short TiO_2 Nanotube Array Electrode Prepared by Sonoelectrochemical Deposition显示文摘Copper and titanium remain relatively plentiful in earth crust.Therefore,using them in solar energy conversion technologies are of significant interest.In this work,cuprous oxide(Cu2O)-modified short TiO2 nanotube array electrode was prepared based on the following two design ideas:first,the short titania nanotubes obtained from sonoelectrochemical anodization possess excellent charge separation and transportation properties as well as desirable mechanical stability;second,the sonoelectrochemical deposition technique favours the improvement in the combination between Cu2O and TiO2 nanotubes,and favours the dispersion of Cu2O particles.UV-Vis absorption and photo-electronchemical measurements proved that the Cu2O coating extended the visible spectrum absorption and the solar spectrum-induced photocurrent response.Under AM1.5 irradiation,the photocurrent density of the composite electrode(i.e.sonoelectrochemical deposition for 5 min) was more than 4.75 times as high as the pure nanotube electrode.Comparing the photoactivity of the Cu2O/TiO2 electrode obtained using sonoelectrochemical deposition with others that synthesized using plain electrochemical deposition,the photocurrent density of the former electrode was 2.2 times higher than that of the latter when biased at 1.0 V(vs.Ag/AgCl).The reproducible photocurrent response under intermittent illumination demonstrated the excellent stability of the composite electrode.Such kind of composite electrode material will have many potential applications in solar cell and other fields.Yanbiao Liu Haibin Zhou Jinhua Li Hongchong Chen Di Li Baoxue Zhou Weimin Cai 2010Nano-Micro Letters2010,2,4:6
14Spatiotemporal variations of Zr/Rb ratio in three last interglacial paleosol profiles across the Chinese Loess Plateau and its implications for climatic interpretation显示文摘The ratio of Zirconium to Rubidium (Zr/Rb) is suggested to be a better proxy for the East Asian winter monsoon strength than the widely-used grain size distribution. The rationale for the Zr/Rb proxy relies on the following assumptions: (1) Grain size fractionating characteristics during eolian dust transport should be archived in the Zr/Rb ratio records and this assumption is based on the premise that Zr is preferentially enriched in coarser grain size fraction while Rb tend to be enriched in finer grain size fraction; and (2) post-depositional weathering does not change the Zr/Rb ratio due to the immobility of these two elements. To examine these two assumptions, three last interglacial paleosols (S1) from Dingxi, Tianshui and Lantian, along a NW-SE transect across the Chinese Loess Plateau, were geo- chemically investigated. Our results show that the Rb concentration exhibits an increasing trend along the NW-SE transect both in the paleosol (S1) and the measured portions of the loess units (L1 and L2), being supportive to the assumption that Rb is enriched in the fine particles. But we also found that Rb loss did occur to some extent in the three profiles, contradicting to the presumption of Rb immobility during pedogenic processes. The Zr concentration exhibits an expected decreasing trend in the measured portions of the loess units and an unexpected increasing trend in the paleosol along the NW-SE transect. Moreover, the ratios of Zirconium to Hafnium (Zr/Hf) show different variation patterns between interglacial and glacial, implying that Zr-bearing minerals and their resident grain size frac- tions are probably not identical during interglacial and glacial. Thus, the assumption that Zr is enriched in coarse grain size fraction can no longer hold. We conclude that the final Zr/Rb value is not only de- pendent on grain size sorting processes but also on post-depositional alteration and source prove- nance. Under enhanced chemical weathering, especially when chemical index of alteration (CIA) is greater than 65, the Zr/Rb value loses its validity to be a reliable proxy for the winter monsoon strength. 15Histological Observation of Germ Cell Development and Discovery of Spermatophores in Ovoviviparous Black Rockfish(Sebastes schlegeli Hilgendorf) in Reproductive Season显示文摘Black rockfish(Sebastes schlegeli) is an important species for culture; however, its reproductive characteristics have not been fully documented. In this study, we investigated the morphology and developmental process of germ cells in this ovoviviparous rockfish in reproductive season(October 2011–November 2012) with histological methods. We found that the gonad of mature fish showed notable seasonal changes in developmental characteristics and morphological structure. The sperm cells matured during a period lasting from October to December, significantly earlier than the oocytes did. A large number of spermatozoa and other cells occurred in testis at different developmental stages. Vitellogenesis in oocytes began in October, and gestation appeared in April next year. Spermatophores were discovered for the first time in Sebastes, which assembled in testis, main sperm duct, oviduct and genital tract, as well as ovarian cavity in October and April. These organs may serve either as production or hiding places for spermatophores and spermatozoa which were stored and transported in form of spermatophores. Testicular degeneration started from the distal part of testis in April, with spermatophores assembled in degenerating testis and waiting for transportation. The copulation probably lasted for a long period, during which the spermatozoa were discharged in batches as spermatophores. 16Xeno-repopulation of Fah^(-/-)Nod/Scid mice livers by human hepatocytes显示文摘Functional human hepatocytes xenografted into the liver of mice can be used as a model system to study pharmacokinetics,infection of hepatitis viruses,and the efficacy of hepatitis vaccines.Significant levels of liver xeno-repopulation have been reported in Fah-/-Rag2-/-Il2rg-/-mice.However,the high mortality and low breeding rate of this model may hinder its application.A new model,termed Fah-/-Nod/Scid mice,which combines the advantages of liver repopulation in Fah-/-mice with the ease of xenotransplantation in Nod/Scid mice was obtained by gradual cross-breeding.Fah-/-Nod/Scid mice were easily maintained in breeding colonies and in adult animal care facilities.FK506 treatment combined with gradual withdrawal of NTBC before cell transplantation ensured that Fah-/-Nod/Scid mice were susceptible to liver xeno-repopulation by human hepatocytes;the proportion of engrafted human hepatocytes reached 33.6%.The function of the expanded human hepatocytes within the chimeric liver was confirmed by weight curve analysis,the expression of characteristic proteins,and the biochemical analysis of liver function.These results show that Fah-/-Nod/Scid mice are an ideal humanized liver mouse model with many useful applications.SU BaoLiang LIU ChangCheng XIANG Dao ZHANG HaiBin YUAN SiMing WANG MinJun CHEN Fei ZHU HaiYing HE ZhiYing WANG Xin HU YiPing 2011Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,3:5
17Effect of Carbon Addition on Microstructure and Properties of WC-Co Cemented Carbides显示文摘Based on a unique method to synthesize WC-Co composite powder by insitu reactions of metal oxides and carbon, the effects of the carbon addition in the initial powders on the phase constitution, microstructure and mechanical properties of the cemented carbides were investigated. It is found that with a suitable carbon addition the pure phase constitution can be obtained in the sintered bulk from the composite powder. The mechanical properties of the cemented carbides depend on the phase constitution and the WC grain structure. 18Numerical Simulation of Characteristics of CEX Ions in Ion Thruster Optical System显示文摘Charge exchange(CEX) ions could inflict severe damages on the ion thruster optical system.This article is aimed at investigating the characteristics of the CEX ions and their influences upon the optical system by means of particle-incell(PIC) ion simulation and Monte Carlo collision(MCC) methods.The results from numerical simulation indicate that despite the fact that CEX ions appear in the entire beamlet region near the ion optical system,the ones that present themselves downstream of the accelerator grid have good reason for attracting more attention.As their trajectories are significantly affected by the local electric field,a great number of CEX ions are accelerated toward grids resulting in sputtering erosion.When the influences of the CEX ions are considered in the numerical simulation,there could hardly be observed augments in the screen grid current,but the accelerator grid current increases from zero to 1.4% of the beamlet current.It can be understood from the numerical simulation that the CEX ions formed in the region far downstream of the accelerator grid should be blamed for the erosion on the downstream surface of the accelerator grid.Zhong Lingwei Liu Yu Li Juan Gu Zuo Jiang Haocheng Wang Haixing Tang Haibin 2010Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2010,23,1:5
19Carbon isotopic compositions of pore and matrix carbonates in carbonate nodules, and origin of carbonate formation显示文摘Carbon isotopes of pedogenic carbonate are often used to study paleoenvironments, but the existence of detrital carbonate changes the carbon isotopic composition. To develop an experimental method to determine existence of detrital carbonate in carbonate nodules, and to avoid it during isotope analysis, 23 pedogenic carbonate nodules in Miocene loess from the Loess Plateau of China were studied through micromorphology and carbon isotope analysis. The difference in carbon isotopic composition between matrix carbonate (B) and pore carbonate (A) (δ 13C(B-A)) ranges from 0.27‰ to 0.44‰ in nodules containing detrital carbonate and -0.16‰ to 0.13‰ in nodules where detrital carbonate is absent. The latter is within measurement error, but the former is beyond it. Here we propose an isotopic approach to determine if nodules contain detrital carbonate: if δ 13C(B-A) is within the measurement error, the nodules do not contain detrital carbonate, and vice versa. 20Solid-state reaction synthesis and chemical stability studies in Nd-doped zirconolite-rich ceramics显示文摘In this study, Nd-bearing zirconolite-rich ceramics were prepared by solid-state reaction process using CaF_2,ZrO_2, Ti,TiO_2, Fe_2 O_3 and Nd_2O_3 as the raw materials. Neodymium was used as trivalent actinide surrogate and designed to substitute the Ca and Zr sites of zirconolite with general stoichiometry of Ca_(1-x)Zr_(1-x)Nd_(2 x)Ti_2O_7(0≤x≤0.3). Density of Fe-Nd-O sample reaches a maximum value of 4.13 g/cm^2 after being sintered at 1325 ℃ for 42 h. Three major phases, namely zirconolite, perovskite and pseudobrookite, are observed in all these samples. The EDX result shows that Nd_2O_3 can be successfully incorporated into the lattice structure of the prepared zirconolite-rich minerals and replace the Ca sites of zirconolite and perovskite with Fe^(3+) as the charge-compensating ion. Furthermore, the thermal conductivities are all in the range of 1.51-1.67 W/(m·K).
