| 1 | Characteristics of phosphorus fractionated from the sediment resuspension in abrupt expansion flow experiments显示文摘Phosphorous(P) fraction characteristics in sediment resuspension were investigated under adequately hydrodynamic conditions. Four forms of P in overlying water,including dissolved inorganic P,dissolved total P,total P,and particulate P,and six fractions of P in suspended particulate matter(SPM) ,including loosely sorbed P(NH4Cl-P) ,redox-sensitive P(BD-P) ,aluminum-bound P(Al-P) ,organic P(NaOH-nrP) ,calcium-bound P(Ca-P) and residual P(Res-P) ,were quantified,respectively.Diflerent hydrodynamic conditions resulted in different P form changes.Four states could be ascribed:(1) P desorption by sediment and SPM,and P adsorption by overlying water;(2) P desorption by SPM,and P adsorption by overlying water;(3) P adsorption by SPM,and P desorption by overlying water;and(4) P equilibrium between SPM and overlying water.The contents of P in overlying water acquired peak values in the middle position of the vertical P distribution due to the combined actions of SPM and sediment.P fractions in SPM were in the following order:BD-P>NaOH-nrp>Ca-P>Al-P>Res-P>NH4Cl-P.BD-P in SPM frequently exchanged with P forms in overlying water.Resuspension was favorable to forming Ca-P in SPM. | Jun Wan Ze Wang Hezhong Yuan | 2010 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,10: | 11 |
| 2 | Formation and causes of NO_x pollution on the east side of the Taihang Mountains in China显示文摘Tropospheric column amounts of NO 2 from OMI/Aura products were applied to investigate the seasonal variation of NO x on the east side of the Taihang Mountains (ESTM) in China. The NO 2 concentration varied seasonally, with winter maxima and summer minima. To explore the causes of the heavy NO 2 pollution in this region, wind field simulations were conducted by using the Fifth-Generation NCAR/Penn State Mesoscale Model (MM5). MM5 simulations showed that wind directions in the ESTM region were dominated by northeasterly and northwesterly winds throughout the year and to a lesser degree by southwesterlies. Elevated NO 2 concentrations (higher than 50×10 15 molec/cm 2 ) occurred in three meteorological situations: convergent wind fields (5 days), northeasterly winds (2 days), and calm days (1 day) in January. Although the local anthropogenic NO x emission strength was not so high as that in other developed areas, the calms and frequent occurrence of convergent wind fields, as well as unfavorable terrains for diffusion, resulted in the accumulation of atmospheric pollutants and hence heavy NO x pollution. | 3 | Multi-dimension apportionment of clean air “parade blue”phenomenon in Beijing显示文摘The mass concentration and major chemical components of fine particulate matter were measured before,during and after Beijing's massive parade commemorating 70th anniversary of the Chinese Victory in World War II on September 3,2015.Regional emission inventory,positive matrix factorization(PMF),observations from space and backward air mass trajectories were jointly applied to identify the major pollution sources and their temporal and spatial variations.The contributions of emissions variations and the meteorological conditions related to the'parade blue'phenomenon in Beijing and its surrounding areas were investigated in detail.The main cause of the decreased PM_(2.5)mass concentration was attributed to the absolute reduction in emissions of primary air pollutants.The chemical composition of PM_(2.5)varied significantly before,during and after the parade.Fugitive dust particles were well controlled,the secondary formation of PM_(2.5)was reduced along with the controlled gaseous precursors'emissions from vehicles and industrial sources during the temporary intensified control period.During the parade period,the SO_2and NO_2column concentrations in Beijing and the surrounding areas decreased sharply,indicating that the coordinated reduction in primary emissions from the surrounding areas of Beijing played an important role in lowering the ambient concentration of SO_2and NO_2and accordingly lowered PM_(2.5)and improved the regional air quality.A comparison of the temperature,humidity,and wind speed and direction during the same periods in 2014 and 2015 showed that the meteorological conditions positively influenced the achievement of'parade blue'. | Yifeng Xue Yong Wang Xuefeng Li Hezhong Tian Lei Nie Xiaoqing Wu Junrui Zhou Zhen Zhou | 2018 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2018,30,3: | 5 |
| 4 | Waterlogging stress in cotton:Damage, adaptability, alleviation strategies, and mechanisms显示文摘Over the last few decades,waterlogging stress has increasingly threatened global cotton production.Waterlogging results in reduced soil oxygen,impairing the growth and development of this valuable crop and often resulting in severe yield loss or crop failure.However,as cotton has an indeterminate growth habit,it is able to adapt to waterlogging stress by activating three mechanisms:the escape,quiescence,and self-regulating compensation mechanisms.The escape mechanism includes accelerated growth,formation of adventitious roots,and production of aerenchyma.The quiescence mechanism involves reduced biomass accumulation and energy dissipation via physiological,biochemical,and molecular events.The self-regulation compensation mechanism allows plants to exploit their indeterminate growth habit and compensatory growth ability by accelerating growth and development following relief from waterlogging stress.We review how the growth and development of cotton is impaired by waterlogging,focusing on the three strategies associated with tolerance and adaptation to the stress.We discuss agronomic measures and prospects for mitigating the adverse effects of waterlogging stress. | Yanjun Zhang Guangya Liu Hezhong Dong Cundong Li | 2021 | The Crop Journal2021,9,2: | 4 |
| 5 | Fine particulate matter(PM_(2.5)/PM_(1.0)) in Beijing,China: Variations and chemical compositions as well as sources显示文摘Particulate matter(i.e.,PM_(1.0) and PM_(2.5)),considered as the key atmospheric pollutants,exerts negative effects on visibility,global climate,and human health by associated chemical compositions.However,our understanding of PM and its chemical compositions in Beijing under the current atmospheric environment is still not complete after witnessing marked alleviation during 2013–2017.Continuous measurements can be crucial for further air quality improvement by better characterizing PM pollution and chemical compositions in Beijing.Here,we conducted simultaneous measurements on PM in Beijing during 2018–2019.Results indicate that annualmean PM_(1.0) and PM_(2.5) concentrations were 35.49±18.61μg/m^(3) and 66.58±60.17μg/m^(3),showing a positive response to emission controls.The contribution of sulfate,nitrate,and ammonium(SNA)played an enhanced role with elevated PM loading and acted as the main contributors to pollution episodes.Discrepancies observed among chemical species between PM_(1.0) and PM_(2.5) in spring suggest that sand particles trend to accumulate in the range of 1–2.5μm.Pollution episodes occurred accompanied with southerly clusters and high formation of SNA by heterogeneous reactions in summer and winter,respectively.Results from positive matrix factorization(PMF)combined with potential source contribution function(PSCF)models showed that potential areas were seasonal dependent,secondary and vehicular sources became much more important compared with previous studies in Beijing.Our study presented a continuous investigation on PM and sources origins in Beijing,which provides a better understanding for further emission control as well as a reference for other cities in developing countries. | Lining Luo Xiaoxuan Bai Shuhan Liu Bobo Wu Wei Liu Yunqian Lv Zhihui Guo Shumin Lin Shuang Zhao Yan Hao Jiming Hao Kai Zhang Aihua Zheng Hezhong Tian | 2022 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,11: | 3 |
| 6 | Spatial distribution and stratigraphic characteristics of surface sediments in Taihu Lake,China显示文摘A geophysical survey was carried out for Taihu Lake,one of the largest shallow lakes in China.The StrataBox Marine Geophysical Instrument was applied for the first time to obtain high-resolution seismic data (in the form of vectorgraphs) of the lake sediment.Data were then interpreted by SonarWiz.Map acoustics software.Data were correlated with core stratigraphy from the lake as well as an outcrop on the northern side of the lake at Yao Bay.Results show that the upper 10 m sediment (beneath the interface of the sediment and the overlying lake water) is characterized by laminated sediments,which can be classified into two stratal types,i.e.lacustrine sediment stratum (U1) and underlying hard loess stratum (U2).The contact of these two lithologies is not continuous,and part of it is absent in the lake basin.Unequally spread over the lake basin,the lacustrine sediment (mainly consisting of sludge and muddy-clay) is found in areas along the western bank,to the northwest of the Xishan Mountains and along the northwestern side of the lake.In the rest of the lake basin,the hard loess stratum is exposed in outcrops.The depth of the lacustrine sediment ranges from 1 to 2 m,while the depth of the sludge (closely related to the modern lacustrine environment) varies from 0.03 to 1.0 m.The spatial distribution of lacustrine sediments in Taihu Lake is primarily influenced by transportation and sedimentation of riverine materials,as well as the hydrodynamics of lake currents. | SHEN Ji YUAN HeZhong LIU EnFeng WANG JianJun WANG Yong | 2011 | Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,2: | 3 |

| 9 | Phosphorus removal from sediments by Potamogeton crispus:New high-resolution in-situ evidence for rhizosphere assimilation and oxidization-induced retention显示文摘Macrophytes are usually chosen for phytoremediation tools to remove P in eutrophic aquatic ecosystems,but the lack of test methods hinders the understanding of removal mechanism and application.In this study,we used the novel technologies combined of Diffusive gradients in thin films(DGT),Planar optode(PO),and Non-invasive micro-test technology(NMT)to explore P dynamics in water-sediment continuum and rhizosphere of Potamogeton crispus over time.Results of the high-resolution in situ measurement showed that labile P(LPDGT)fluxes at the surficial sediment significantly decreased from approximate 120,140,and 200 pg/(cm^(2)·sec)via 30 days incubation period to 17,40,and 56 pg/(cm2•sec)via that of 15 days.Obvious synchronous increase of LPDGT was not detected in overlying water,suggesting the intense assimilation of dissolve reactive P via root over time.PO measurement indicated that O_(2)concentration around the rhizosphere remarkably increased and radially diffused into deeper sediment until 100%saturation along with the root stretch downwards.NMT detection of roots showed the obvious O_(2)inflow into root tissue with the uppermost flux of 30 pmol/(cm2•sec)from surroundings via aerenchyma on different treatment conditions.Different from previous reports,gradually saturating O_(2)concentrations around the rhizosphere was principally driven by O_(2)penetration through interspace attributing to root stretch downward rather than root O_(2)leakage.Increased O_(2)concentrations in deep sediment over time finally induced the oxidization of labile Fe(II)into Fe(III)bound P and local P immobilization. | Hezhong Yuan Yiwei Cai Zhen Yang Qiang Li Enfeng Liu Hongbin Yin | 2021 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,11: | 2 |

The coupling efficiency of the TE021 mode and the suppression for the TE811 mode in the main cylindrical cavity are deliberately considered by adjusting the position and size of coupling holes as well as the radius of the drift tubes. | 11 | Differentiated super-enhancers in lung cancer cells显示文摘Super-enhancers(SEs) are regulatory elements with enriched accumulation of key transcription factors.Few studies were done investigating SEs in lung cancers.Here we analyzed epigenetic profiling data to identify SEs in lung cancer cell lines.Enhancers were classified as SEs and typical enhancers(TEs).Most of the TEs were overlapped between normal cell and cancer cells.A great portion of SEs were differentiated comparing these cells.Analysis of GO terms associated with SEs revealed SE remodeling(lost on some sites while gain on others) between normal and lung cancer cells.By comparing the average number of SEs in each GO term in cancer cells with the number in control cells,surprisingly,no GO terms with significantly increased SE number in cancer condition were observed.On the contrary,in aspects such as 'cell-cell adhesion','receptor activity' and'negative regulation of canonical Wnt signaling pathway',the related SEs were significantly reduced in cancer cells.These findings suggest that in lung cancer,cells may not gain decisive gene expression in the related aspect,instead,they may have lost control of the fateful genes.Taken together,our work with the usability of omics data identified SEs in lung cancer cells and further showed cancer-specific features of SE-related terms. | Xin Li Chengjun Lu Qijue Lu Chunguang Li Ji Zhu Tiejun Zhao Hezhong Chen Hai Jin | 2019 | Science China(Life Sciences)2019,62,9: | 1 |
