| 1 | Global patterns of breast cancer incidence and mortality:A population-based cancer registry data analysis from 2000 to 2020显示文摘Background:Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and leading cause of cancer death among women worldwide but has patterns and trends which vary in different countries.This study aimed to evaluate the global patterns of breast cancer incidence and mortality and analyze its temporal trends for breast cancer prevention and control.Methods:Breast cancer incidence and mortality data in 2020 were obtained from the GLOBOCAN online database.Continued data from the Cancer Incidence in Five Continents Time Trends,the International Agency for Research on cancer mortality and China National Central Cancer Registry were used to analyze the time trends from 2000 to 2015 through Joinpoint regression,and annual average percent changes of breast cancer incidence and mortality were calculated.Association between Human Development Index and breast cancer incidence and mortality were estimated by linear regression.Results:There were approximately 2.3 million new breast cancer cases and 685,000 breast cancer deaths worldwide in 2020.Its incidence and mortality varied among countries,with the age-standardized incidence ranging from the highest of 112.3 per 100,000 population in Belgium to the lowest of 35.8 per 100,000 population in Iran,and the age-standardized mortality from the highest of 41.0 per 100,000 population in Fiji to the lowest of 6.4 per 100,000 population in South Korea.The peak age of breast cancer in some Asian and African countries were over 10 years earlier than in European or American countries.As for the trends of breast cancer,the age-standardized incidence rates significantly increased in China and South Korea but decreased in the United States of America(USA)during 2000-2012.Meanwhile,the age-standardized mortality rates significantly increased in China and South Korea but decreased in the United Kingdom,the USA,and Australia during 2000 and 2015.Conclusions:The global burden of breast cancer is rising fast and varies greatly among countries.The incidence and mortality rates of breast cancer increased rapidly in China and South Korea but decreased in the USA.Increased health awareness,effective prevention strategies,and improved access to medical treatment are extremely important to curb the snowballing breast cancer burden,especially in the most affected countries. | Shaoyuan Lei Rongshou Zheng Siwei Zhang Shaoming Wang Ru Chen Kexin Sun Hongmei Zeng Jiachen Zhou Wenqiang Wei | 2021 | Cancer Communications2021,41,11: | 55 |
| 2 | Ulva prolifera green-tide outbreaks and their environmental impact in the Yellow Sea, China显示文摘The Ulva prolifera green tides in the Yellow Sea, China, which have been occurring since 2007, are a serious environmental problem attracting worldwide attention. Despite extensive research, the outbreak mechanisms have not been fully understood. Comprehensive analysis of anthropogenic and natural biotic and abiotic factors reveals that human activities, regional physicochemical conditions and algal physiological characteristics as well as ocean warming and biological interactions(with microorganism or other macroalgae) are closely related to the occurrence of green tides. Dynamics of these factors and their interactions could explain why green tides suddenly occurred in 2007 and decreased abruptly in 2017.Moreover, the consequence of green tides is serious. The decay of macroalgal biomass could result in hypoxia and acidification, possibly induce red tide and even have a long-lasting impact on coastal carbon cycles and the ecosystem. | 3 | Simultaneous mineralization of CO_2 and recovery of soluble potassium using earth-abundant potassium feldspar显示文摘CO2 capture and storage(CCS) is an important strategy in combatting anthropogenic climate change.However,commercial application of the CCS technique is currently hampered by its high energy expenditure and costs.To overcome this issue,CO2 capture and utilization(CCU) is a promising CO2 disposal method.We,for the first time,developed a promising method to mineralize CO2 using earth-abundant potassium feldspar in order to effectively reduce CO2 emissions.Our experiments demonstrate that,after adding calcium chloride hexahydrate as an additive,the K-feldspar can be transformed to Ca-silicates at 800 C,which can easily mineralize CO2 to form stable calcium carbonate and recover soluble potassium.The conversion of this process reached 84.7%.With further study,the pretreatment temperature can be reduced to 250 C using hydrothermal method by adding the solution of triethanolamine(TEA).The highest conversion can be reached 40.1%.The process of simultaneous mineralization of CO2 and recovery of soluble potassium can be easily implemented in practice and may provide an economically feasible way to tackle global anthropogenic climate change. | XIE HePing WANG YuFei JU Yang LIANG Bin ZHU JiaHua ZHANG Ru XIE LingZhi LIU Tao ZHOU XiangGe ZENG HongMei LI Chun LU HouFang | 2013 | Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,1: | 16 |
| 4 | Colorectal cancer burden and trends:Comparison between China and major burden countries in the world显示文摘Objective:To summarize the colorectal cancer(CRC)burden and trend in the world,and compare the difference of CRC burden between other countries and China.Methods:Incidence and mortality data were extracted from the GLOBOCAN2018 and Cancer Incidence in Five Continents.Age-specific incidence trend was conducted by Joinpoint analysis and average annual percent changes were calculated.Results:About 1.85 million new cases and 0.88 million deaths were expected in 2018 worldwide,including 0.52 million(28.20%)new cases and 0.25 million(28.11%)deaths in China.Hungary had the highest age-standardized incidence and mortality rates in the world,while for China,the incidence and mortality rates were only half of that.CRC incidence and mortality were highly correlated with human development index(HDI).Unlike the rapid increase in Republic of Korea and the downward trend in Canada and Australia,the age-standardized incidence rates by world standard population in China and Norway were rising gradually.The age-specific incidence rate in the age group of 50-59 years in China was increasing rapidly,while in Republic of Korea and Canada,the fastest growing age group was 30-39 years.Conclusions:The variations of CRC burden reflect the difference of risk factors,as well as levels of HDI and screening(early detection activities).The burden of CRC in China is high,and the incidence of CRC continues to increase,which may lead to a sustained increase in the burden of CRC in China in the future.Screening should be expanded to control CRC,and focused on young people in China. | Jiachen Zhou Rongshou Zheng Siwei Zhang Hongmei Zeng Shaoming Wang Ru Chen Kexin Sun Minjuan Li Jianhua Gu Guihua Zhuang Wenqiang Wei | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2021,33,1: | 16 |
| 5 | Optimization of air quantity regulation in mine ventilation networks using the improved differential evolution algorithm and critical path method显示文摘In mine ventilation networks, the reasonable airflow distribution is very important for the production safety and economy. Three basic problems of the natural, full-controlled and semi-controlled splitting were reviewed in the paper. Aiming at the high difficulty semi-controlled splitting problem, the general nonlinear multi-objectives optimization mathematical model with constraints was established based on the theory of mine ventilation networks. A new algorithm, which combined the improved differential evaluation and the critical path method(CPM) based on the multivariable separate solution strategy,was put forward to search for the global optimal solution more efficiently. In each step of evolution,the feasible solutions of air quantity distribution are firstly produced by the improved differential evolution algorithm, and then the optimal solutions of regulator pressure drop are obtained by the CPM.Through finite steps iterations, the optimal solution can be given. In this new algorithm, the population of feasible solutions were sorted and grouped for enhancing the global search ability and the individuals in general group were randomly initialized for keeping diversity. Meanwhile, the individual neighborhood in the fine group which may be closely to the optimal solutions were searched locally and slightly for achieving a balance between global searching and local searching, thus improving the convergence rate. The computer program was developed based on this method. Finally, the two ventilation networks with single-fan and multi-fans were solved. The results show that this algorithm has advantages of high effectiveness, fast convergence, good robustness and flexibility. | 7 | Meta-analysis of the efficacy in treatment of primary sjogren's syndrome: Traditional Chinese Medicine vs Western Medicine显示文摘OBJCTIVE: To compare the clinical efficacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) to Western Medicine in the treatment of primary Sj?gren's syndrome(p SS).METHODS: We collected randomized controlled trials of TCM vs Western Medicine for the treatment of p SS in Chinese and foreign databases. The study quality was evaluated as suggested in the Cochrane Handbook. The Meta-analysis was performed using Review Manager 5.0 statistical software.RESULTS: A total of 31 randomized controlled trials with 2137 cases were retrieved. The efficiencies of TCM and control treatments were 87.18% and65.63%, respectively. The results of heterogeneity tests showed that the data were homogeneous(P = 0.83), thus a fixed effects model was used for analysis. The results revealed an odds ratio of 3.74 with a 95% confidence interval of 2.99-4.69. The overall effectiveness value was 11.48(P < 0.000 01).These results suggest the efficacy of TCM therapy for p SS better than Western Medicine.CONCLUSION: Although our findings reveal that the TCM treatment of p SS had significant advantages over its counterpart, there were some flaws in the studies included. | 11 | Phenolic Composition and Antioxidant Capacities of Chinese Local Pummelo Cultivars' Peel显示文摘China is one of the main production areas of pummelo [Citrus grandis(L.) Osbeck.] in the world and has lots of distinctive local cultivars.Systematic research on the detection of phenolics and antioxidant capacity of peels of mature local cultivars pummelo fruits is rare.In the current study,phenolic composition and content in peels(flavedo and albedo) of ten Chinese local pummelo cultivars were determined using Ultraviolet Spectrophotometer and High Performance Liquid Chromatography(HPLC),and their antioxidant capacities were evaluated using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH) radicals,ferric reducing antioxidant power(FRAP),and 2,2′-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6)-sulfonic acid(ABTS)methods in the current study.The research not only provides data that support making full use of the resources of Chinese local pummelo cultivars,but also lays the theoretical basis for research of pummelo fruit nutrition and health values.The results showed that the total phenolic(TP)content in albedo was significantly higher than that in flavedo;on the contrary,the total flavonoid(TF) content was lower in the albedo than in the flavedo.C.grandis ‘Hongxinyou' flavedo contained the highest TP contents,C.grandis ‘Liangpingyou 78-8' flavedo contained the highest TF contents,and C.grandis ‘Guanxi Miyou' albedo contained the highest TP and TF contents.Naringenin,hesperetin,diosmin,and gallic acid were the predominant phenolics in the flavedo,whereas hesperetin,diosmin,rutin,chlorogenic acid,and gallic acid were the primary phenolics in the albedo.The flavedo of C.grandis ‘Yubei Shatianyou' and the albedo of C.grandis ‘Dianjiang Baiyou' had the highest antioxidant potency composite(APC) indexes.Overall,the ‘Yubei Shatianyou' flavedo and the ‘Dianjiang Baiyou' albedo are excellent sources of antioxidants and have the greatest potential value for exploitation and utilization. | Lü Zefang ZHANG Zhao WU Hongmei ZHOU Zhiqin YU Jie | 2016 | Horticultural Plant Journal2016,2,3: | 5 |

| 13 | Application of two remote sensing GPP algorithms at a semiarid grassland site of North China显示文摘Estimation of gross primary production(GPP)from remote sensing data is an important approach to study regional or global carbon cycle.However,for a given algorithm,it usually has its limitation on applications to a wide range of vegetation types and/or under diverse environmental conditions.This study was conducted to compare the performance of two remote sensing GPP algorithms,the MODIS GPP and the vegetation photosynthesis model(VPM),in a semiarid temperate grassland ecosystem.Methods The study was conducted at a typical grassland site in Ujimuqin of Inner Mongolia,North China,over 2 years in 2006 and 2007.Environmental controls on GPP measured by the eddy covariance(EC)technique at the study site were first investigated with path analysis of meteorological and soil moisture data at a daily and 8-day time steps.The estimates of GPP derived from the MODIS GPP and the VPM with site-specific inputs were then compared with the values of EC measurements as ground truthing at the site.Site-specific emax(a)was estimated by using rectangular hyperbola function based on the 7-day flux data at 30-min intervals over the peak period of the growing season(May to September).Important Findings Between the two remote sensing GPP algorithms and various estimates of the fraction of absorbed photosynthetic active radiation(FPAR),the VPM based on FPAR derived from the enhanced vegetation index(EVI)works the best in predicting GPP against the ground truthing of EC GPP.A path analysis indicates that the EC GPP in this semiarid temperate grassland ecosystem is controlled predominantly by both soil water and temperature.The site water condition is slightly better simulated by the moisture multiplier in the VPM than in the MODIS GPP algorithm,which is a most probable explanation for a better performance of the VPM than MODIS GPP algorithm in this semiarid grassland ecosystem. | Jianfeng Liu Osbert Jianxin Sun Hongmei Jin Zhiyong Zhou Xingguo Han | 2011 | Journal of Plant Ecology2011,4,4: | 5 |

| 16 | A haplotype block associated with thousand-kernel weight on chromosome 5DS in common wheat(Triticum aestivum L.)显示文摘Spike number per unit area, number of grains per spike, and thousand-kernel weight(TKW) are important yield components for wheat(Triticum aestivum L.). TKW has the highest heritability among the three components. We validated 27 simple sequence repeat(SSR) loci associated with TKW in an F2:5breeding population grown in four environments. A cfd78265 bpmarker on chromosome 5DS showed the strongest association with TKW and had a significantly positive effect on TKW compared to allele cfd78259 bp, with mean increases of 5.17, 3.63, 4.11, and 5.16 g in the four environments. Markers cfd67 and cfd40 flanking cfd78 also showed significantly positive associations with TKW with increases of 5.11, 3.29, 4.31, and 4.50 g for cfd67205, and4.98, 3.49, 4.06, and 4.84 g for cfd40187 compared with cfd67203 and cfd40190in the four environments, respectively. A major quantitative trait locus for TKW spanning 2.94 c M on chromosome 5DS was detected by association mapping.Strong linkage disequilibrium(LD)(r2> 0.2) was detected Resear among the three linked markers, which formed three haplotype blocks in the F2:5breeding population. Mean TKW differences between Hap B-I and Hap B-II were 5.80, 4.41, 4.02,and 5.06 g in the four environments, respectively. However, in the clinic, recurrence and metastasis of oral cancer occur after radiotherapy, and the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Cancer stem cells(CSCs), considered the 'seeds'of cancer, have been confirmed to be in a quiescent state in most established tumours, with their innate radioresistance helping them survive more easily when exposed to radiation than differentiated cancer cells. There is increasing evidence that CSCs play an important role in recurrence and metastasis post-radiotherapy in many cancers. However, little is known about how oral CSCs cause tumour recurrence and metastasis post-radiotherapy. In this review article, we will first summarise methods for the identification of oral CSCs and then focus on the characteristics of a CSC subpopulation induced by radiation, hereafter referred to as 'awakened'CSCs, to highlight their response to radiotherapy and potential role in tumour recurrence and metastasis post-radiotherapy as well as potential therapeutics targeting CSCs. | 19 | The combination of chidamide with the CHOEP regimen in previously untreated patients with peripheral T-cell lymphoma: a prospective, multicenter, single arm, phase 1b/2 study显示文摘Objective:To assess the efficacy and safety of the novel histone deacetylase inhibitor,chidamide,in combination with cyclophosphamide,doxorubicin,vincristine,etoposide,and prednisone(Chi-CHOEP)for untreated peripheral T-cell lymphoma(PTCL).Methods:A prospective,multicenter,single arm,phase 1 b/2 study was conducted.A total of 128 patients with untreated PTCL(18–70 years of age)were enrolled between March 2016 and November 2019,and treated with up to 6 cycles with the Chi-CHOEP regimen.In the phase 1 b study,3 dose levels of chidamide were evaluated and the primary endpoint was determination of the maximumtolerated dose and recommended phase 2 dose(RP2 D).The primary endpoint of the phase 2 study was 2-year progression-free survival(PFS).Results:Fifteen patients were enrolled in the phase 1 b study and the RP2 D for chidamide was determined to be 20 mg,twice a week.A total of 113 patients were treated at the RP2 D in the phase 2 study,and the overall response rate was 60.2%,with a complete response rate of 40.7%.At a median follow-up of 36 months,the median PFS was 10.7 months,with 1-,2-,and 3-year PFS rates of 49.9%,38.0%,and 32.8%,respectively.The Chi-CHOEP regimen was well-tolerated,with grade 3/4 neutropenia occurring in approximately two-thirds of the patients.No unexpected adverse events(AEs)were reported and the observed AEs were manageable.Conclusions:This large cohort phase 1 b/2 study showed that Chi-CHOEP was well-tolerated with modest efficacy in previously untreated PTCL patients. | Wei Zhang Liping Su Lihong Liu Yuhuan Gao Quanshun Wang Hang Su Yuhuan Song Huilai Zhang Jing Shen Hongmei Jing Shuye Wang Xinan Cen Hui Liu Aichun Liu Zengjun Li Jianmin Luo Jianxia He Jingwen Wang O.A.O’Connor Daobin Zhou | 2021 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,3: | 4 |
| 20 | Low-overpotential selective reduction of CO2 to ethanol on electrodeposited CuxAuy nanowire arrays显示文摘Direct electrochemical reduction of CO2 to multicarbon products is highly desirable, yet challenging. Here, we present a potentiostatic pulse-electrodeposition of high-aspect-ratio CuxAuy nanowire arrays (NWAs) as high-performance electrocatalysts for the CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR). The surface electronic structure related to the Cu:Au ratio in the CuxAuy NWAs could be facilely modulated by controlling the electrodeposition potential and the as-fabricated CuxAuy NWAs could be directly used as the catalytic electrode for the CO2RR. The morphology of the high-aspect-ratio nanowire array significantly lowers the onset potential of the alcohol formation due to the diffusion-induced enhancement of the local pH and CO concentration near the nanowire surface. Besides, the properly adjusted surface electronic structure of the CuxAuy NWA enables the adsorption of CO and facilitates the subsequent CO reduction to ethanol via the C-C coupling pathway. Owing to the synergistic effect of morphology and electronic structure, the optimized CuxAuy NWA selectively reduces CO2 to ethanol at low potentials of -0.5——0.7 V vs. RHE with a highest Faradaic efficiency of 48%.
