2Laparoscopic common bile duct exploration with primary closure is safe for management of choledocholithiasis in elderly patients显示文摘Background:Laparoscopic common bile duct exploration(LCBDE)is one of the minimally invasive options for choledocholithiasis.Primary closure of the common bile duct(CBD)upon completion of laparoscopic choledochotomy is safe in selected patients.The present study aimed to evaluate the feasibility and safety of primary closure of CBD after LCBDE in patients aged 70 years or older.Methods:A total of 116 patients(51 males and 65 females)who suffered from choledocholithiasis and underwent primary closure of the CBD(without T-tube drainage)after LCBDE from January 2003 to December 2017 were recruited.They were classified into two groups according to age:group A(≥70 years,n=56),and group B(<70 years,n=60).The preoperative characteristics,intraoperative details,and postoperative outcomes of the two groups were evaluated.Results:The mean operative time was 172.02 min for group A and 169.92 min for group B(P=0.853).The mean hospital stay was 7.40 days for group A and 5.38 days for group B(P<0.001).Bile leakage occurred in two patients in group A and one in group B(3.57%vs 1.67%,P=0.952).There were no significant differences in the rates of postoperative complications and mortality between the two groups.At median follow-up time of 60 months,stone recurrence was detected in one patient in group A and two in group B(1.79%vs 3.33%,P=1.000).Stenosis of CBD was not observed in group A and slight stenosis in one patient in group B(0 vs 1.67%,P=1.000).Conclusion:Primary closure of the CBD upon completion of laparoscopic choledochotomy is safe and feasible in elderly patients≥70 years old.Xiang Wu Ze-Jian Huang Jin-Yi Zhong Yi-Hong Ran Ming-Lei Ma Hong-Wei Zhang 2019Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2019,18,6:30

6Omentin-1 prevents inflammation-induced osteoporosis by downregulating the pro-inflammatory cytokines显示文摘Osteoporosis is a frequent complication of chronic inflammatory diseases and increases in the pro-inflammatory cytokines make an important contribution to bone loss by promoting bone resorption and impairing bone formation. Omentin-1 is a newly identified adipocytokine that has anti-inflammatory effects, but little is known about the role of omentin-1 in inflammatory osteoporosis. Here we generated global omentin-1 knockout(omentin-1^(-/-)) mice and demonstrated that depletion of omentin-1 induces inflammatory bone loss-like phenotypes in mice, as defined by abnormally elevated pro-inflammatory cytokines, increased osteoclast formation and bone tissue destruction, as well as impaired osteogenic activities. Using an inflammatory cell model induced by tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), we determined that recombinant omentin-1 reduces the production of proinflammatory factors in the TNF-α-activated macrophages, and suppresses their anti-osteoblastic and pro-osteoclastic abilities. In the magnesium silicate-induced inflammatory osteoporosis mouse model, the systemic administration of adenoviral-delivered omentin-1 significantly protects from osteoporotic bone loss and inflammation. 7Non-ammonia enrichment of rare earth by magnesium oxide from rare earth leaching liquor in magnesium salt system显示文摘In order to solve the problem of ammonia-nitrogen pollution in the enrichment process of the ionadsorption type rare earth ore,the technology of non-ammonia precipitation with magnesium oxide precipitant was carried out.It is determined that the rare earth precipitation efficiency is 99.6%and the purity of rare earth concentrates is only 85.89 wt%under the optimum precipitation conditions.And the contents of MgO,SO3 and Al2O3 in the rare earth concentrates are 5.12 wt%,6.77 wt%and 1.78 wt%,respectively.Furthermore,the thermo-decomposition process of precipitates was investigated by TGDSC,XRD and FI-IR.The thermal decomposition process consists of two stages:the dehydration of rare earth hydroxide and alkaline rare earth sulfate within 900℃and the thermal decomposition of RE2O2SO4 at 900-1300℃.Therefore,a high-temperature calcinations method for removing SO3 from precipitates is proposed.When the precipitates are calcined at 1300℃for 2 h,the rare earth concentrates with a purity of 92.03 wt%can be acquired.Moreover,the content of SO3 in the concentrate is only 0.46 wt%.In the MgO precipitation and high-temperature calcinations process,the raw material cost is low and the quality of rare earth concentrates is acceptable.It could have great significance for nonammonia enrichment of rare earth from the rare earth leaching liquor,and finally solve the problem of ammonia nitrogen in the extraction process of the ion-adsorption type rare earth ore within magnesium salt system.Li Huang Guohua Gao Ran Wu Qian Zhang Fuguo Lai Yanfei Xiao 2019Journal of Rare Earths2019,37,8:14
8The GW2-WG1-OsbZIP47 pathway controls grain size and weight in rice显示文摘Regulation of seed size is a key strategy for improving crop yield and is also a basic biological question.However,the molecular mechanisms by which plants determine their seed size remain elusive.Here,we report that the GW2-WG1-OsbZIP47 regulatory module controls grain width and weight in rice.WG1,which encodes a glutaredoxin protein,promotes grain growth by increasing cell proliferation.Interestingly,WG1 interacts with the transcription factor OsbZIP47 and represses its transcriptional activity by associating with the transcriptional co-repressor ASP1,indicating that WG1 may act as an adaptor protein to recruit the transcriptional co-repressor.In contrary,OsbZIP47 restricts grain growth by decreasing cell proliferation.Further studies reveal that the E3 ubiquitin ligase GW2 ubiquitinates WG1 and targets it for degradation.Genetic analyses confirm that GW2,WG1,and OsbZIP47 function in a comm on pathway to control grain growth.Taken together,ourfindi ngs reveal a genetic and molecular framework for the control of grain size and weight by the GW2-WG1-OsbZIP47 regulatory module,providing new targets for improving seed size and weight in crops.Jianqin Hao Dekai Wang Yingbao Wu Ke Huang Penggen Duan Na Li Ran Xu Dali Zeng Guojun Dong Baolan Zhang Limin Zhang Dirk Inze Qian Qian Yunhai Li 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,8:14

10Effects of gas supersaturation on lethality and avoidance responses in juvenile rock carp(Procypris rabaudi Tchang)显示文摘Laboratory experiments were conducted to determine the effects of total dissolved gas(TDG) supersaturation on acute lethality and avoidance responses in juvenile rock carp(Procypris rabaudi Tchang).The juvenile rock carp were exposed to water with different levels of supersaturation(105%,115%,120%,125%,130%,135%,140%,and 145%) and depth of 0.20 m at 25 °C for 60 h.Median lethal time(LT50) was used to assess the lethal responses corresponding to different levels of gas supersaturation.The results show that half of the juvenile rock carp died at the 120%,125%,130%,135%,140%,and 145% levels of supersaturation,and the LT50 corresponding to different levels of supersaturation was 18.7,15.4,8.2,6.6,3.5,and 1.7 h.When the level of supersaturated water is below 115%,the mortality is negligible.Avoidance responses were observed 5 min after the fish were put into equilibrated water(99%,0.08 m deep) and water with different supersaturated levels(105%,115%,125%,135%,and 145%,0.08 m deep) at 25 °C.The fish exhibited strong avoidance responses in supersaturated water when the gas supersaturation was above 135%.However,they exhibited an obvious preference to supersaturated water when the gas supersaturation was below 115%.Thus,the juvenile rock carp can likely survive in water with a supersaturated level of 115%.Xiang HUANG Ke-feng LI Jun DU Ran LI 2010Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2010,11,10:13
11In situ observation of austenite grain growth behavior in the simulated coarse-grained heat-affected zone of Ti-microalloyed steels显示文摘The austenite grain growth behavior in a simulated coarse-grained heat-affected zone during thermal cycling was investigated via in situ observation. Austenite grains nucleated at ferrite grain boundaries and then grew in different directions through movement of grain boundaries into the ferrite phase. Subsequently, the adjacent austenite grains impinged against each other during the α→γ transformation. After the α→γ transformation, austenite grains coarsened via the coalescence of small grains and via boundary migration between grains. The growth process of austenite grains was a continuous process during heating, isothermal holding, and cooling in simulated thermal cycling. Abundant finely dispersed nanoscale TiN particles in a steel specimen containing 0.012wt% Ti effectively retarded the grain boundary migration, which resulted in refined austenite grains. When the Ti concentration in the steel was increased, the number of TiN particles decreased and their size coarsened. 12Humoral immune response to circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants elicited by inactivated and RBD-subunit vaccines显示文摘SARS-CoV-2 variants could induce immune escape by mutations on the receptor-binding domain(RBD)and N-terminal domain(NTD).Here we report the humoral immune response to circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants,such as 501Y.V2(B.1.351),of the plasma and neutralizing antibodies(NAbs)elicited by CoronaVac(inactivated vaccine),ZF2001(RBD-subunit vaccine)and natural infection.Among 86 potent NAbs identified by high-throughput single-cell VDJ sequencing of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from vaccinees and convalescents,near half anti-RBD NAbs showed major neutralization reductions against the K417N/E484K/N501Y mutation combination,with E484K being the dominant cause.VH3-53/VH3-66 recurrent antibodies respond differently to RBD variants,and K417N compromises the majority of neutralizing activity through reduced polar contacts with complementarity determining regions.In contrast,the 242–244 deletion(242–244Δ)would abolish most neutralization activity of anti-NTD NAbs by interrupting the conformation of NTD antigenic supersite,indicating a much less diversity of anti-NTD NAbs than anti-RBD NAbs.Plasma of convalescents and CoronaVac vaccinees displayed comparable neutralization reductions against pseudo-and authentic 501Y.V2 variants,mainly caused by E484K/N501Y and 242–244Δ,with the effects being additive.Importantly,RBD-subunit vaccinees exhibit markedly higher tolerance to 501Y.V2 than convalescents,since the elicited anti-RBD NAbs display a high diversity and are unaffected by NTD mutations.Moreover,an extended gap between the third and second doses of ZF2001 leads to better neutralizing activity and tolerance to 501Y.V2 than the standard three-dose administration.Together,these results suggest that the deployment of RBD-vaccines,through a third-dose boost,may be ideal for combating SARS-CoV-2 variants when necessary,especially for those carrying mutations that disrupt the NTD supersite.Yunlong Cao Ayijiang Yisimayi Yali Bai Weijin Huang Xiaofeng Li Zhiying Zhang Tianjiao Yuan Ran An Jing Wang Tianhe Xiao Shuo Du Wenping Ma Liyang Song Yongzheng Li Xiang Li Weiliang Song Jiajing Wu Shuo Liu Xuemei Li Yonghong Zhang Bin Su Xianghua Guo Yangyang Wei Chuanping Gao Nana Zhang Yifei Zhang Yang Dou Xiaoyu Xu Rui Shi Bai Lu Ronghua Jin Yingmin Ma Chengfeng Qin Youchun Wang Yingmei Feng Junyu Xiao Xiaoliang Sunney Xie 2021Cell Research2021,31,7:12
13Dryland Expansion in Northern China from 1948 to 2008显示文摘This study examines the expansion of drylands and regional climate change in northern China by analyzing the variations in aridity index(AI), surface air temperature(SAT), precipitation and potential evapotranspiration(PET) from 1948 to 2008.It is found that the drylands of northern China have expanded remarkably in the last 61 years. The area of drylands of the last 15 years(1994–2008) is 0.65 × 106km2(12%) larger than that in the period 1948–62. The boundary of drylands has extended eastward over Northeast China by about 2° of longitude and by about 1° of latitude to the south along the middleto-lower reaches of the Yellow River. A zonal band of expansion of semi-arid regions has occurred, stretching from western Heilongjiang Province to southern Gansu Province, while shifts to the east of semi-arid regions in dry subhumid regions have also occurred. 15Laparoscopic vs open total gastrectomy for gastric cancer:A meta-analysis显示文摘AIM:To conduct a meta-analysis comparing laparoscopic total gastrectomy(LTG)with open total gastrectomy(OTG)for the treatment of gastric cancer.METHODS:Major databases such as Medline(PubMed),Embase,Academic Search Premier(EBSCO),Science Citation Index Expanded and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials(CENTRAL)in The Cochrane Library were searched for studies comparing LTG and OTG from January 1994 to May 2013.Evaluated endpoints were operative,postoperative and oncological outcomes.Operative outcomes included operative time and intraoperative blood loss.Postoperative recovery included time to first fatus,time to first oral intake,hospital stay and analgesics use.Postoperative complications comprised morbidity,anastomotic leakage,anastomotic stenosis,ileus,bleeding,abdominal abscess,wound problems and mortality.Oncological outcomes included positive resection margins,number of retrieved lymph nodes,and proximal and distal resection margins.The pooled effect was calculated using either a fixed effects or a random effects model.RESULTS:Fifteen non-randomized comparative studies with 2022 patients were included(LTG-811,OTG-1211).Both groups had similar short-term oncological outcomes,analgesic use(WMD-0.09;95%CI:-2.39-2.20;P=0.94)and mortality(OR=0.74;95%CI:0.24-2.31;P=0.61).However,LTG was associated with a lower intraoperative blood loss(WMD-201.19 mL;95%CI:-296.50--105.87 mL;P<0.0001)and overall complication rate(OR=0.73;95%CI:0.57-0.92;P=0.009);fewer wound-related complications(OR=0.39;95%CI:0.21-0.72;P=0.002);a quicker recovery of gastrointestinal motility with shorter time to frst fatus(WMD-0.82;95%CI:-1.18--0.45;P<0.0001)and oral intake(WMD-1.30;95%CI:-1.84--0.75;P<0.00001);and a shorter hospital stay(WMD-3.55;95%CI:-5.13--1.96;P<0.0001),albeit with a longer operation time(WMD 48.25 min;95%CI:31.15-65.35;P<0.00001),as compared with OTG.CONCLUSION:LTG is safe and effective,and may offer some advantages over OTG in the treatment of gastric cancer.Jun-Jie Xiong Quentin M Nunes Wei Huang Chun-Lu Tan Neng-Wen Ke Si-Ming Xie Xun Ran Hao Zhang Yong-Hua Chen Xu-Bao Liu 2013World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,44:11
16Effects of fluid balance on prognosis of acute respiratory distress syndrome patients secondary to sepsis显示文摘BACKGROUND:Fluid management is crucial to acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS)secondary to sepsis.However,choices of fluid resuscitation strategies and fluid input volumes remain a thorny problem.Our study aimed to elucidate the relationship between fluid balance and prognosis of ARDS patients secondary to sepsis.METHODS:Our study included 322 sepsis patients from Ruijin Hospital between 2014 and 2018,and 84 patients were diagnosed as ARDS within 72 hours after onset of sepsis according to Berlin ARDS Defi nition.RESULTS:Among the 322 sepsis patients,84(26.1%)were complicated with ARDS within 72 hours.ARDS patients had a lower oxygenation index(PaO2/FiO2166.4±71.0 vs.255.0±91.2,P<0.05),longer duration of mechanical ventilation(11[6-24]days vs.0[0-0]days,P<0.05)than those without ARDS.Sepsis patients with ARDS showed daily positive net fl uid balance during seven days compared with those without ARDS who showed daily negative net fluid balance since the second day with signifi cant statistical differences.Among the 84 sepsis patients with ARDS,58(69.0%)died.Mean daily fl uid input volumes were much lower in survivors than in non-survivors(43.2±16.7 mL/kg vs.51.0±25.2 mL/kg,P<0.05)while output volumes were much higher in survivors(45.2±19.8 mL/kg vs.40.2±22.7 mL/kg,P<0.05).Using binary logistic regression analysis,we found that the mean daily fl uid balance was independently associated with mortality of sepsis patients complicating with ARDS(P<0.05).CONCLUSIONS:Early negative fluid balance is independently associated with a better prognosis of sepsis patients complicated with ARDS.Yu-ming Wang Yan-jun Zheng Ying Chen Yun-chuan Huang Wei-wei Chen Ran Ji Li-li Xu Zhi-tao Yang Hui-qiu Sheng Hong-ping Qu En-qiang Mao Er-zhen Chen 2020World Journal of Emergency Medicine2020,11,4:11

18Inactivation of Cryptosporidium by ozone and cell ultrastructures显示文摘The fluorescence staining method and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to study the effect of ozone (O3) inactivating Cryptosporidium in water and cell ultrastructures variation to shed light on the mechanism of inactivation preliminarily.Results indicated that O3 had a stronger inactivating capability.When the concentration of O3 was above 3.0 mg/L and the contact time was up to 7 min,a significant inactivating effect could be achieved.The turbidity on inactivation effects was also found to be statistically significant in artificial water.With increases in turbidity,the inactivating effect decreased.Inactivation rate improved with a temperature increase from 5 to 25°C,but decreased beyond this.The inactivating capability of O3 was found to be stronger under acidic than that under alkalic conditions.When the concentration of organic matter in the reaction system was increased,the competition between Cryptosporidium and organics with O3 probably took place,thereby reducing the inactivation rate.In addition,the cellular morphology of Cryptosporidium varied with different contact times.At zero contact time,cells were rotundity and sphericity,at 60 sec they became folded,underwent emboly,and burst at 480 sec,the cell membrane of Cryptosporidium shrinked and collapsed completely.Zhilin Ran Shaofeng Li Junli Huang Yixing Yuan Chongwei Cui Craig Denver Williams 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,12:11
19Treatment of Herpes Zoster with Electroacupuncture plus Collateral-pricking and Cupping Therapy显示文摘Objective:To observe the clinical effect of electroacupuncture(EA)plus collateral-pricking and cupping therapy for herpes zoster.Methods:Fifty-three cases with herpes zoster were randomly divided into two groups.Thirty-one cases in the treatment group were treated with EA at Jiaji(EX-B 2)points plus local collateral-pricking and cupping therapy.Twenty-two cases in the control group were treated with oral administration of Valaciclovir Hydrochloride and Indomethacin.Results:The curative and remarkable effective rate was 93.5%in the treatment group and 72.7%in the control group.The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.01),indicating that EA plus collateral-pricking and cupping therapy is better than Western medications in the clinical effects for herpes zoster.Conclusion:The EA plus collateral-pricking and cupping method is an effective therapy for herpes zoster.Liu Yin-ni Zhang Hong-xing Huang Guo-fu Zou Ran Wei Wei Huang Guo-qi 2013Journal of Acupuncture and Tuina Science2013,11,5:9
20Nonreciprocal unconventional photon blockade in a spinning optomechanical system显示文摘We propose how to achieve quantum nonreciprocity via unconventional photon blockade(UPB) in a compound device consisting of an optical harmonic resonator and a spinning optomechanical resonator. We show that, even with very weak single-photon nonlinearity, nonreciprocal UPB can emerge in this system, i.e., strong photon antibunching can emerge only by driving the device from one side but not from the other side. This nonreciprocity results from the Fizeau drag, leading to different splitting of the resonance frequencies for the optical counter-circulating modes.
