| 1 | Design and experimental study of a practical Osculating Inward Cone Waverider Inlet显示文摘A design method based on tip to tail streamline tracing and osculating inward cone methods is discussed for designing the integrated Osculating Inward Cone Waverider Inlet(OICWI). A practical geometrical constrained experimental model of OICWI is designed based on the validated design method. It has a total contraction ratio of 4.61 and inner contraction ratio is 2.0. Wind-tunnel tests have been conducted for the OICWI model at free stream Mach number(Ma_∞) of 4.0, 3.5 and 3.0 respectively. The experimental results show that the OICWI has high flow capture ratio and compression abilities. It can self-start at Ma_∞= 3.5 and 4.0 and its flow capture ratio is 0.73 at Ma_∞= 4.0, and Angle of Attack(AOA) 0°. The research results show that the OICWI has advantages of inward cone waverider and streamline tracing inlet. | 3 | Impact of damping on high speed 850 nm VCSEL performance显示文摘High speed VCSELs are important optical devices in short-reach optical communication links and interconnects because of their low cost and high modulation speeds. In this paper, the impact of damping on the their static and dynamic characteristics is analyzed and demonstrated. Through the shallow corrosion of the top layer DBR, the VCSELs with different damping is designed and fabricated. With the increase of the surface etch depth from 0 to ~55 nm for 9 μm oxide-aperture VCSEL, the K factor related with the damping is reduced from0.31 to 0.23 ns^(-1). When the etch depth of the VCSEL with 9 μm oxide-aperture is decreased to ~25 nm,output power is increased from 4.03 to 4.70 mW and small signal modulation bandwidth is also increased from15.46 to 16.37 GHz. | 7 | Characterization of a novel regulatory pathway for mannitol metabolism and its coordination with biofilm formation in Mycobacterium smegmatis显示文摘Biofilm formation has been implicated to be tightly regulated in bacteria. Mycobacterial species possess a unique cell-wall structure; however, the underlying regulation mechanism for their biofilm formation remains largely unclear. In this study, we characterized a hypothetical mannitol metabolism and transportation gene cluster(Ms5571-Ms5576), designated as mmt operon, whose expression significantly contributes to the biofilm formation in Mycobacterium smegmatis. We showed that in the operon the Ms5575 gene encodes a GntR-like transcriptional repressor and the Ms5576 gene encodes a mannitol2-dehydrogenase which can produce D-mannitol from D-mannose. Strikingly, the D-mannitol molecule can derepress the negative regulation of Ms5575 on the mmt operon to stimulate the operon's expression. Consistently, addition of D-mannitol into the medium can obviously induce mycobacterial biofilm formation. Furthermore, we found that Ms0179 positively regulates the mmt operon through its downstream regulator Ms0180. Ms0180 directly binds the mmt operon to positively regulate its expression. Both Ms0179 and Ms0180 significantly affect the mycobacterial biofilm formation. Taken together, we explored a regulatory pathway for the mannitol metabolism and its coordination with the biofilm formation in M. smegmatis. | 8 | Biochar pyrolyzed at low temperature enhanced acidophilous plant growth by promoting rhizospheric microbes in a slightly alkaline urban soil显示文摘Biochar has been considered as a potential way to enhance acidophilous plant growth in alkaline soils.However,whether such enhancements are closely linked with biochar pyrolysis temperature and its improvements in rhizospheric soil fertility and microbial activities remains largely unknown.We performed a pot experiment to investigate changes in azalea(Rhodo-dendron)morphology and physiology,as well as its rhizosphere soil chemical and biological properties in a slightly alkaline urban soil under the amendment of biochars that pyrolyzed at three temperatures(i.e.,350,550 and 700°C).Our results showed that the effects of biochars on plant growth and soil properties depended on pyrolysis temperature.In comparison with the non-amended control,350 and 550°C biochars showed significant promotions on the azalea growth in terms of photosynthetic characteristics,biomass,root morphology,and N and P uptake.Whereas,700°C biochar showed an inhibi-tion effect on them.350°C biochar decreased soil pH and increased soil available P and K contents and the activities ofα-glucosidase,N-β-glucosaminidase,phosphatase and sulfatase.In addition,350°C biochar significantly enhanced bacterial 16S rRNA and fungal 18S rRNA gene abundances in the rhizosphere soil of azalea and mycorrhizal infection.Correlation analysis indicated that soil pH,available nutrients and fungal abundance had positive associations with the enhanced plant growth parameters.Therefore,our findings suggest that biochar produced at low temperature could be a feasible strategy for enhancing acidophilous azalea growth and improving urban soil quality. | Huimin Zhou Xiaoying Li Chang Li Lisi He Xiaoqing Liu Zheng Xiao Xiaobo Sun Gaoling Shi Jiale Su Junhui Chen | 2021 | Biochar2021,3,4: | 1 |

A finite volume method based on the center of grid is also employed to numerically investigate the outflow pass the same configuration. | 17 | Wet nitrogen oxidation technology and its anisotropy influence on VCSELs显示文摘Vertical cavity surface emitting lasers(VCSELs) are widely used in optical communications and optical interconnects due to their advantages of low threshold, low power consumption and so on. Wet nitrogen oxidation technology, which utilizes H20 molecules to oxidize the Al_(0.98)Ga_(0.02)As, is used for electrical and optical mode confinement. In this paper, the effects of oxidation time, oxidation temperature and oxidation anisotropy on the oxidation rate are explored and demonstrated. The ratio of oxidation rate on [0-11] to [011] crystal orientation is defined as oxidation anisotropy coefficient, which decreases with the increase of oxidation temperature and oxidation time. In order to analyze the effect of the oxidation anisotropy on the VCSEL performance, an oxide-aperture of the VCSELs with two difference shapes is designed and then fabricated. The static performance of these fabricated VCSELs has been measured,whose threshold current ratio ~0.714 is a good agreement with that of the theoretical calculation value ~0.785.
