| 1 | The growth mechanism of the basic magnesium chloride whisker显示文摘Based on the theoretical model of anion coordination polyhedron growth units, the growth mechanism of the basic magnesium chloride whisker was discussed in this paper.It was found that the basic magnesium chloride whisker habits were related to the different environments in which anion coordination polyhedra grew. The growth units of basic magnesium chloride whiskers are [Mg - (OH) 4]2 -and [Mg - Cl 4]2 -. The growth process is the incorporation process of growth units. Growth units will have different incorporations and orientations caused by different system characters or heating. | 2 | The growth mechanism of hydrotalcite crystal显示文摘From the point of growth units, the growth mechanism of hydrotalcite (HT) crystal is investigated in this paper. Results show that the growth morphology of HT is consistent with the model of anion coordination polyhedron growth units. The Raman shift of growth solutions of HT, Cu-HTlc, and Cu-Zn-HTlc are monitored using Raman spectroscopy. In the experiment, the growth units of Mg-Al-hydrotalcite are [Mg-(OH)6]4- and [Al-(OH)6]3-, and the growth units of Cu-Htlc and Cu-Zn-HTlc are [Mg-(OH)6]4- and [Al-(OH)6]3-, respectively. The growth process of hydrotalcite is as follows: growth units first incorpo- rate into metal layers, then metal layers adsorb An- and H2O, and the growth units incorporate into layer compounds according to this rule. Growth units will have different incorporations and growth morphologies caused by different growth surroundings. | 5 | Medical expenditures for colorectal cancer diagnosis and treatment: A 10-year high-level-hospital-based multicenter retrospective survey in China, 2002-2011显示文摘Objective: Colorectal cancer(CRC) causes a substantial burden of disease in China and the evidence of economic burden triggered is fundamental for priority setting. The aim of this survey was to quantify medical expenditures and the time trends for CRC diagnosis and treatment in China.Methods: From 2012 to 2014, a hospital-based multicenter retrospective survey was conducted in 13 provinces across China. For each eligible CRC patient diagnosed from 2002 to 2011, clinical information and expenditure data were extracted using a uniform questionnaire. All expenditure data were reported in Chinese Yuan(CNY)using 2011 values.Results: Of the 14,536 CRC patients included, the average age at diagnosis was 58.2 years and 15.8% were stageI cases. The average medical expenditure per patient was estimated at 37,902 CNY [95 % confidence interval(95%CI): 37,282-38,522], and the annual average increase rate was 9.2% from 2002 to 2011(P for trend <0.001), with a cumulative increase of 2.4 times(from 23,275 CNY to 56,010 CNY). The expenditure per patient in stages Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ and Ⅳ were 31,698 CNY, 37,067 CNY, 38,918 CNY and 42,614 CNY, respectively(P<0.001). Expenditure significantly differed within various subgroups. Expenses for drugs contributed the largest proportion(52.6%).Conclusions: These conservative estimates illustrated that medical expenditures for CRC diagnosis and treatment in tertiary hospitals in China were substantial and increased rapidly over the 10 years, with drugs continually being the main expense by 2011. Relatively, medical expenditures are lower for CRC in the earlier stages. | 7 | Population-level economic burden of lung cancer in China:Provisional prevalence-based estimations,2017-2030显示文摘Objective:Population-level economic burden is essential for prioritizing healthcare resources and healthcare budget making in the future.However,little is known about the economic burden of lung cancer in China.Methods:A prevalence-based approach was adopted to estimate the economic burden of lung cancer,including direct expenditure(medical and non-medical)and indirect cost(disability and premature death).Data on direct expenditure and work-loss days per patient in each year post-diagnosis were obtained from two primary surveys.Other parameters were obtained from literatures and official reports.Projections were conducted based on varying parameters.All expenditure data were reported in United States dollars(USD)using 2017 value(exchange rate:1 USD=6.760 CNY),with the discount rate of 3%.Results:The total economic burden of lung cancer was estimated to be 25,069 million USD in China in 2017(0.121%of gross domestic productivity,GDP).The estimated direct expenditure was 11,098 million USD,up to1.43%of total healthcare expenditure for China,covering 10,303 million USD and 795 million USD for medical and non-medical expenditure,respectively.The estimated indirect cost was 13,971 million,including 1,517 million USD due to disability and 12,454 million USD due to premature death.Under current assumptions,the projected total economic burden would increase to 30.1 billion USD,40.4 billion USD,and 53.4 billion USD in 2020,2025,and 2030,accounting for 0.121%,0.131%,and 0.146%of China's GDP,respectively.However,if China meets the United Nation sustainable development goal of reducing premature death from non-communicable diseases by one-third by 2030,the total economic burden in 2030 would be 31.9 billion USD,0.087%of China's GDP.Conclusions:The economic burden of lung cancer in China in 2017 is substantial and more likely to increase significantly in the future.Policy makers need to take urgent actions in budget making for health systems.The economic burden could be alleviated by reducing the disease burden of lung cancer via effective control and prevention actions. | Chengcheng Liu Jufang Shi Hong Wang Xinxin Yan Le Wang Jiansong Ren Mark Parascandola Wanqing Chen Alin Dai | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2021,33,1: | 6 |

| 11 | Classifying risk level of gastric cancer: Evaluation of questionnaire-based prediction model显示文摘Objective: This study aimed at evaluating the efficacy of the questionnaire-based prediction model in an independent prospective cohort.Methods: A cluster-randomized controlled trial was conducted in Changsha, Harbin, Luoshan, and Sheyang in eastern China in 2015-2017. A total of 182 villages/communities were regarded as clusters, and allocated to screening arm or control arm randomly. Face-to-face interview through a questionnaire interview, including of relevant risk factors of gastric cancer, was administered for each subject. Participants were further classified into high-risk or low-risk groups based on their exposure to risk factors. All participants were followed up until December 31, 2019. Cumulative incidence rates from gastric cancer between high-risk and low-risk groups were calculated and compared using the log-rank test. Cox proportional hazard regression models were applied to estimate hazard ratio(HR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI).Results: Totally, 89,914 residents were recruited with a mean follow-up of 3.47 years. And 42,015(46.73%)individuals were classified into high-risk group and 47,899(53.27%) subjects were categorized into low-risk group.Gastric cancer was diagnosed in 131 participants, of which 91 were in high-risk group. Compared with the low-risk participants, high-risk individuals were more likely to develop gastric cancer(adjusted HR=2.15, 95% CI,1.23-3.76). X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements suggested that the substitutional N and F species replaced the lattice oxygen atoms in TiO2 nanocrystals. Such nanocrystals showed strong absorption from 400 to 550 nm, which was mainly induced by nitrogen doping. The phase transformation from anatase to rutile was hindered by fluorine doping at high calcination temperatures, which was verified by XRD patterns. The N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms revealed the absence of mesopores in these nanocrystals. | 16 | Improved esophageal squamous cell carcinoma screening effectiveness by risk-stratified endoscopic screening:evidence from high-risk areas in China显示文摘Background:Risk-stratified endoscopic screening(RSES),which offers endoscopy to those with a high risk of esophageal cancer,has the potential to increase effectiveness and reduce endoscopic demands compared with the universal screening strategy(i.e.,endoscopic screening for all targets without risk prediction).Evidence of RSES in high-risk areas of China is limited.This study aimed to estimate whether RSES based on a 22-score esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)risk prediction model could optimize the universal endoscopic screening strategy for ESCC screening in high-risk areas of China.Methods:Eight epidemiological variables in the ESCC risk prediction model were collected retrospectively from 26,618 individuals aged 40-69 from three high-risk areas of China who underwent endoscopic screening betweenMay 2015 and July 2017.The model’s performance was estimated using the area under the curve(AUC).Participants were categorized into a high-risk group and a low-risk group with a cutoff score having sensitivities of both ESCC and severe dysplasia and above(SDA)at more than 90.0%.Results:The ESCC risk prediction model had an AUC of 0.80(95% confidence interval:0.75-0.84)in this external population.We found that a score of 8(ranging from 0 to 22)had a sensitivity of 94.2% for ESCC and 92.5% for SDA.The RSES strategy using this threshold score would allow 50.6% of endoscopies to be avoided and save approximately US$0.59 million compared to universal endoscopic screening among 26,618 participants.In addition,a higher prevalence of SDA(1.7%vs.0.9%),a lower number need to screen(60 vs.111),and a lower average cost per detected SDA(US$3.22 thousand vs.US$5.45 thousand)could have been obtained by the RSES strategy.Conclusions:The RSES strategy based on individual risk has the potential to optimize the universal endoscopic screening strategy in ESCC high-risk areas of China. | He Li Chao Ding Hongmei Zeng Rongshou Zheng Maomao Cao Jiansong Ren Jufang Shi Dianqin Sun Siyi He Zhixun Yang Yiwen Yu Zhe Zhang Xibin Sun Guizhou Guo Guohui Song Wenqiang Wei Wanqing Chen Jie He | 2021 | Cancer Communications2021,41,8: | 3 |

| 18 | Fibrosis of corpus cavernosum in animals following cavernous nerve ablation显示文摘t Aim: To investigate alterations of smooth muscle cells and collagen fibers in corpus cavernosum following cavernous neurectomy and its relation to the expression of transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1). Methods: Ten adult male SD rats (neurectomy group) were subject to a bilateral cavernous nerve (CN) resection aseptically under an operating microscope, with 6 sham-operated rats as the control. Fifteen weeks after the operation, the penile specimens were collected and prepared for quantitative-analyzing of ratio of smooth muscle to collagen fibers in corpus cavernosum with confocal microscopy, and for detecting the expression of TGF-β1 by RT-PCR and westernblot.Results: Smooth muscle cells that show red color after fluorescent-labeling with tetramethylrhodamine isothiocyanatephalloidin and collagen fibers that produce green autofluorescence after paraformaldehyde fixation were clearly identified under the confocal microscope. Quantification of fluorescent intensity showed that the ratio of smooth muscle to collagen fibers in corpus cavernosum in neurectomy group was 0.265± 0.125, which was significantly lower than that in sham-operated group (0.760±0.196, P<0.01). | 20 | Sex disparity of lung cancer risk in non-smokers:a multicenter population-based prospective study based on China National Lung Cancer Screening Program显示文摘Background: Non-smokers account for a large proportion of lung cancer patients, especially in Asia, but the attention paid to them is limited compared with smokers. In non-smokers, males display a risk for lung cancer incidence distinct from the females-even after excluding the influence of smoking;but the knowledge regarding the factors causing the difference is sparse. Based on a large multicenter prospective cancer screening cohort in China, we aimed to elucidate the interpretable sex differences caused by known factors and provide clues for primary and secondary prevention.Methods: Risk factors including demographic characteristics, lifestyle factors, family history of cancer, and baseline comorbidity were obtained from 796,283 Chinese non-smoking participants by the baseline risk assessment completed in 2013 to 2018. Cox regression analysis was performed to assess the sex difference in the risk of lung cancer, and the hazard ratios (HRs) that were adjusted for different known factors were calculated and compared to determine the proportion of excess risk and to explain the existing risk factors.Results: With a median follow-up of 4.80 years, 3351 subjects who were diagnosed with lung cancer were selected in the analysis. The lung cancer risk of males was significantly higher than that of females;the HRs in all male non-smokers were 1.29 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.20-1.38) after adjusting for the age and 1.38 (95% CI: 1.28-1.50) after adjusting for all factors, which suggested that known factors could not explain the sex difference in the risk of lung cancer in non-smokers. Known factors were 7% (|1.29-1.38|/1.29) more harmful in women than in men. For adenocarcinoma, women showed excess risk higher than men, contrary to squamous cell carcinoma;after adjusting for all factors, 47% ([1.30-1.16]/[1.30-1]) and 4% ([7.02-6.75]/[7.02-1])) of the excess risk was explainable in adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. The main causes of gender differences in lung cancer risk were lifestyle factors, baseline comorbidity, and family history.Conclusions: Significant gender differences in the risk of lung cancer were discovered in China non-smokers.
