The growth units of basic magnesium chloride whiskers are [Mg - (OH) 4]2 -and [Mg - Cl 4]2 -. The growth process is the incorporation process of growth units. Growth units will have different incorporations and orientations caused by different system characters or heating. | 2 | The growth mechanism of hydrotalcite crystal显示文摘From the point of growth units, the growth mechanism of hydrotalcite (HT) crystal is investigated in this paper. Results show that the growth morphology of HT is consistent with the model of anion coordination polyhedron growth units. The Raman shift of growth solutions of HT, Cu-HTlc, and Cu-Zn-HTlc are monitored using Raman spectroscopy. In the experiment, the growth units of Mg-Al-hydrotalcite are [Mg-(OH)6]4- and [Al-(OH)6]3-, and the growth units of Cu-Htlc and Cu-Zn-HTlc are [Mg-(OH)6]4- and [Al-(OH)6]3-, respectively. The growth process of hydrotalcite is as follows: growth units first incorpo- rate into metal layers, then metal layers adsorb An- and H2O, and the growth units incorporate into layer compounds according to this rule. Growth units will have different incorporations and growth morphologies caused by different growth surroundings. | 4 | Sex disparity of lung cancer risk in non-smokers:a multicenter population-based prospective study based on China National Lung Cancer Screening Program显示文摘Background: Non-smokers account for a large proportion of lung cancer patients, especially in Asia, but the attention paid to them is limited compared with smokers. In non-smokers, males display a risk for lung cancer incidence distinct from the females-even after excluding the influence of smoking;but the knowledge regarding the factors causing the difference is sparse. Based on a large multicenter prospective cancer screening cohort in China, we aimed to elucidate the interpretable sex differences caused by known factors and provide clues for primary and secondary prevention.Methods: Risk factors including demographic characteristics, lifestyle factors, family history of cancer, and baseline comorbidity were obtained from 796,283 Chinese non-smoking participants by the baseline risk assessment completed in 2013 to 2018. Cox regression analysis was performed to assess the sex difference in the risk of lung cancer, and the hazard ratios (HRs) that were adjusted for different known factors were calculated and compared to determine the proportion of excess risk and to explain the existing risk factors.Results: With a median follow-up of 4.80 years, 3351 subjects who were diagnosed with lung cancer were selected in the analysis. The lung cancer risk of males was significantly higher than that of females;the HRs in all male non-smokers were 1.29 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.20-1.38) after adjusting for the age and 1.38 (95% CI: 1.28-1.50) after adjusting for all factors, which suggested that known factors could not explain the sex difference in the risk of lung cancer in non-smokers. Known factors were 7% (|1.29-1.38|/1.29) more harmful in women than in men. For adenocarcinoma, women showed excess risk higher than men, contrary to squamous cell carcinoma;after adjusting for all factors, 47% ([1.30-1.16]/[1.30-1]) and 4% ([7.02-6.75]/[7.02-1])) of the excess risk was explainable in adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma. The main causes of gender differences in lung cancer risk were lifestyle factors, baseline comorbidity, and family history.Conclusions: Significant gender differences in the risk of lung cancer were discovered in China non-smokers. | 6 | Macroporous composite capacitive bioanode applied in microbial fuel cells显示文摘Interfacial electron transfer between electroactive biofilm and the electrode was crucial step for microbial fuel cells(MFCs).A three-dimensional multilayer porous sponge coating with nitrogen-doped carbon nanotube/polyaniline/manganese dioxide(S/N-CNT/PANI/MnO2)electrode has been developed for MFC anode.Here,the S/N-CNT/PANI/MnO2 anode can function as a biocapacitor,able to store electrons generated from the degradation of organic substrate under the open circuit state and release the accumulated electrons upon requirement.Thus,the mismatching of the production and demand of the electricity can be overcome.Comparing with the sponge/nitrogen-doped carbon nanotube(S/N-CNT)bioanode,S/N-CNT/PANI/MnO2 capacitive bioanode displays a strong interaction with the microbial biofilm,advancing the electron transfer from exoelectrogens to the bioanode.The maximum power density of MFC with S/N-CNT/PANI/MnO2 capacitive bioanode is 1019.5 mW/m^2,which is 2.2 and5.8 times as much as that of S/N-CNT/MnO2 bioanode and S/N-CNT bioanode(470.7 mW/m^2 and176.6 mW/m^2),respectively.During the chronoamperometric experiment with 60 min of charging and 20 min of discharging,the S/N-CNT/PANI/MnO2 capacitive bioanode was able to store 10743.9 C/m^2,whereas the S/N-CNT anode was only able to store 3323.4 C/m^2.With a capacitive bioanode,it is possible to use the MFC simultaneously for production and storage of electricity. | Yuyang Wang Hongtao Zheng Ye Chen Qing Wen Jiansong Wu | 2020 | Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,1: | 1 |

| 9 | A high-resolution route map reveals distinct stages of chondrocyte dedifferentiation for cartilage regeneration显示文摘Articular cartilage damage is a universal health problem.Despite recent progress,chondrocyte dedifferentiation has severely compromised the clinical outcomes of cell-based cartilage regeneration.Loss-of-function changes are frequently observed in chondrocyte expansion and other pathological conditions,but the characteristics and intermediate molecular mechanisms remain unclear.In this study,we demonstrate a time-lapse atlas of chondrocyte dedifferentiation to provide molecular details and informative biomarkers associated with clinical chondrocyte evaluation.We performed various assays,such as single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq),live-cell metabolic assays,and assays for transposase-accessible chromatin with high-throughput sequencing(ATAC-seq),to develop a biphasic dedifferentiation model consisting of early and late dedifferentiation stages.Early-stage chondrocytes exhibited a glycolytic phenotype with increased expression of genes involved in metabolism and antioxidation,whereas late-stage chondrocytes exhibited ultrastructural changes involving mitochondrial damage and stress-associated chromatin remodeling.Using the chemical inhibitor BTB06584,we revealed that early and late dedifferentiated chondrocytes possessed distinct recovery potentials from functional phenotype loss.Notably,this two-stage transition was also validated in human chondrocytes.An image-based approach was established for clinical use to efficiently predict chondrocyte plasticity using stage-specific biomarkers.Overall,this study lays a foundation to improve the quality of chondrocytes in clinical use and provides deep insights into chondrocyte dedifferentiation. | Yishan Chen Yeke Yu Ya Wen Juan Chen Junxin Lin Zixuan Sheng Wenyan Zhou Heng Sun Chengrui An Jiansong Chen Weiliang Wu Chong Teng Wei Wei Hongwei Ouyang | 2022 | Bone Research2022,10,3: | 1 |

Clinical manifests vary from no symptoms, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, and even severe acute respiratory distress syndrome and multiple organs failure. Recently, three of new beta-coronaviruses have emerged to cause serious and widespread illness and death, such as the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronaviruses (SARS-CoV), Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronaviruses (MERS-CoV), and 2019-nCoV (the causative pathogen of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The COVID-19 is continuing to spread globally. However, the detailed molecular mechanisms have not yet been fully clarified. Since the similarity of the pathological features among 2019-nCoV, SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV, we could speculate the biological features of current COVID-19 by researching those of MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV. Therefore, we analyzed expression levels of miRNA and mRNA profiles of MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV and 2019-nCoV from five public GEO datasets (Table S1). As a result, we found 16 miRNAs potentially target a group of hub genes clustering together to tune the immune response. Notably, viral RNAs have the ability to sponge miR-500a-5p and miR-501-5p, indicating viral RNAs sequestering these two miRNAs to trigger genes expression and contribute to pathogenesis. | 20 | An online monitor ionization chamber used in particle therapy显示文摘The clinical trials of tumor therapy using heavy ions beam 12C are now in progress at Institute of Modern Physics in Lanzhou. In order to achieve the precise radiotherapy with the high energy 12C beam in active pencil beam scanning mode, we have developed an ionization chamber(IC) as an online monitor for beam intensity and also a dosimeter after calibration. Through the choosing of working gas and voltage, optimizing of the electrics and the read-out system, calibrating the linearity, the detector system provide us one of the simple and highly reliable way to monitoring the beam during the active pencil beam scanning treatments.
