1SIZ1-Mediated SUMOylation of TPR1 Suppresses Plant Immunity in Arabidopsis显示文摘Plant immune responses are tightly regulated to ensure their appropriate deployment. Overexpression of TOPLESS-RELATED 1 (TPR1), a SUPPRESSOR OF npr1-1, CONSTITUTIVE 1 (SNC1)-interacting protein, results in autoimmunity that reduces plant growth and development. However, how TPR1 activity is regulated remains unknown. Loss of function of SIZ1, a (SUMO) E3 ligase, induces an autoimmune response, partially due to elevated SNC1 levels. Here we show that SNC1 expression is upregulated in Arabidopsis thaliana siz1-2 due to positive-feedback regulation by salicylic acid. SIZ1 physically interacts with TPR1 and facilitates its SUMO modification. The K282 and K721 residues in TPR1 serve as critical SUMO attachment sites. Simultaneous introduction of K282R and K721R substitutions in TPR1 blocked its SUMOylation, enhaneed its transcriptional co-repressor activity, and increased its association with HISTONE DEACETYLASE 19 (HDA19), suggesting that SUMOylation of TPR1 represses its transcriptional co-repressor activity and inhibits its interaction with HDA19. In agreement with this finding, the simultaneous introduction of K282R and K721R substitutions enhanced TPR1 mediated immunity, and the tpr1 mutation partially suppressed autoimmunity in siz1-2. 2Cryptogenic multifocal ulcerous stenosing enteritis: Radiologic features and clinical behavior显示文摘AIM To investigate the characteristic radiologic findings of cryptogenic multifocal ulcerous stenosing enteritis(CMUSE) which can be differentiated from other similar bowel disease and to assess their clinical behavior.METHODS Twenty pathologically and clinically confirmed CMUSE patients(males:females = 8:12; mean age: 40.4 years) between March 2002 and August 2015 from seven academic centers in South Korea were retrospectively reviewed. We evaluated small bowel series(SBS; n = 25), computed tomography(CT) enterography(n = 21), magnetic resonance(MR) enterography(n = 2), and abdominopelvic CT(n = 18) images, focusing on enteric and perienteric manifestations. Any change in radiologic features during followup period was recorded. We evaluated clinical data including presenting symptoms, laboratory finding and presence of relapse from electronic medical records. Histopathologic findings were also evaluated. RESULTS The main symptoms were abdominal pain(n = 12) and anemia(n = 10). All patients showed small bowel strictures(n = 52, mean: 2.6 per patient) on initial CT/MR, located in the ileum(n = 47) or jejunum(n = 5). Strictures showed short-length(mean: 10.44 mm) and circumferential bowel wall thickening(mean: 5.56 mm) with layered enhancement(n = 48) that were also noted on initial SBS(n = 36) with shallow ulcers(n = 10). Some ulcerative lesions or wall thickening progressed into strictures on follow-up SBS/CT, and some strictures revealed recurrent ulceration on followup SBS. There were no penetrating disease features like fistula or abscess and no gastrointestinal tract involvement except the small bowel. Nine patients experienced disease recurrence(median relapse-free period: 32 mo) even post-operatively. Histopathologic features of surgically resected specimens were characterized as multiple superficial ulcerations confined to mucosa or submucosa and multiple strictures.CONCLUSION Under characteristic radiologic findings with multiple short-segmental strictures and/or shallow ulcers of the small intestine, CMUSE should be considered when assessing patients with recurrent abdominal pain and anemia.Jiyoung Hwang Jin Sil Kim Ah Young Kim Joon Seok Lim Se Hyung Kim Min Ju Kim Mi Sung Kim Kyoung Doo Song Ji Young Woo 2017World Journal of Gastroenterology2017,23,25:4
3A Sub-Nanostructural Transformable Nanozyme for Tumor Photocatalytic Therapy显示文摘The structural change-mediated catalytic activity regulation plays a significant role in the biological functions of natural enzymes.However,there is virtually no artificial nanozyme reported that can achieve natural enzyme-like stringent spatiotemporal structure-based catalytic activity regulation.Here,we report a subnanostructural transformable gold@ceria(STGC-PEG)nanozyme that performs tunable catalytic activities via near-infrared(NIR)light-mediated sub-nanostructural transformation.The gold core in STGC-PEG can generate energetic hot electrons upon NIR irradiation,wherein an internal sub-nanostructural transformation is initiated by the conversion between CeO;and electron-rich state of CeO;-x,and active oxygen vacancies generation via the hot-electron injection.Interestingly,the sub-nanostructural transformation of STGC-PEG enhances peroxidase-like activity and unprecedentedly activates plasmon-promoted oxidase-like activity,allowing highly efficient low-power NIR light(50 m W cm;)-activated photocatalytic therapy of tumors.Our atomic-level design and fabrication provide a platform to precisely regulate the catalytic activities of nanozymes via a light-mediated sub-nanostructural transformation,approaching natural enzyme-like activity control in complex living systems.Xi Hu Nan Wang Xia Guo Zeyu Liang Heng Sun Hongwei Liao Fan Xia Yunan Guan Jiyoung Lee Daishun Ling Fangyuan Li 2022Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,6:4
4Regional Distribution of Perceived Temperatures Estimated by the Human Heat Budget Model (the Klima-Michel Model) in South Korea显示文摘The regional distribution of perceived temperatures (PT) for 28 major weather stations in South Korea during the past 22 years (1983–2004) was investigated by employing a human heat budget model, the Klima-Michel model. The frequencies of a cold stress and a heat load by each region were compared. The sensitivity of PT in terms of the input of synoptic meteorological variables were successfully tested. Seogwipo in Jeju Island appears to be the most comfortable city in Korea. Busan also shows a high frequency in the comfortable PT range. The frequency of the thermal comfort in Seoul is similar to that of Daejeon with a relatively low frequency. In this study, inland cities like Daegu and Daejeon had very hot thermal sensations. Low frequencies of hot thermal sensations appeared in coastal cities (e.g., Busan, Incheon, and Seogwipo). Most of the 28 stations in Korea exhibited a comfort thermal sensation over 40% in its frequency, except for the mountainous regions. The frequency of a heat load is more frequent than that of a cold stress. There are no cities with very cold thermal sensations. In this study, we found the decreasing trend of mortality with an increasing PT. If the PT is over any critical temperature point, however, the mortality rate increases again.
