1Nitrated and parent PAHs in the surface water of Lake Taihu,China:Occurrence,distribution,source,and human health risk assessment显示文摘Nitrated polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(NPAHs)have toxic potentials that are higher than those of their corresponding parent polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)and thus have received increasing attention in recent years.In this study,the occurrence,distribution,source,and human health risk assessment of 15 NPAHs and 16 PAHs were investigated in the surface water from 20 sampling sites of Lake Taihu during the dry,normal,and flood seasons of 2018.The PAH concentrations ranged from 255 to 7298 ng/L and the NPAH concentrations ranged from not-detected(ND)to 212 ng/L.Among the target analytes,2-nitrofluorene(2-n Flu)was the predominant NPAH,with a detection frequency ranging from 85%to 90%and a maximum concentration of 56.2 ng/L.The three-ringed and four-ringed NPAHs and PAHs comprised the majority of the detected compounds.In terms of seasonal variation,the highest levels of the NPAHs and PAHs were in the dry season and flood season,respectively.Diagnostic ratio analysis indicated that the prime source of NPAHs was direct combustion,whereas in the case of PAHs the contribution was predominantly from a mixed pattern including pollution from unburned petroleum and petroleum combustion.The human health risk of NPAHs and PAHs was evaluated using a lifetime carcinogenic risk assessment model.The carcinogenic risk level of the targets ranged from 2.09×10^(-7)to 5.75×10^(-5)and some surface water samples posed a potential health risk.Jijie Kong Yuxuan Dai Mengshu Han Huan He Jiapeng Hu Junyi Zhang Junzhe Shi Qiming Xian Shaogui Yang Cheng Sun 2021Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,4:6
2Experimental Study on Interaction Between Degrees of Freedom in a Wave Buoy显示文摘Increasing degrees of freedom(DOFs)is a useful way to raise the power capture efficiency of oscillating wave energy converters.Thus,this study proposes a buoy with three DOFs,which are surge,heave,and pitch.The hydrodynamic performance and power capture efficiency of the buoy is physically modeled.Amplitudes of unidirectional and coupled motions are compared to analyze the interaction effect between freedoms under conditions with and without power take-off damping.The capture width ratio and corresponding growth rates are also calculated.Results show that the buoy makes a periodic sinusoidal(or approximate)movement in every DOF.Coupling effect can cause an increase in the amplitude in one DOF and a decrease in the amplitudes of the others.This phenomenon shows that the kinematic energy of the buoy redistributes to all DOFs compared with the unidirectional conditions.Adding DOFs can improve the power absorption of the buoy in most cases,but the number of DOFs is not the more the better.HUANG Shuting SHI Hongda CAO Feifei TAN Junzhe CHENG Haixun LI Demin LIU Shangze GONG Haoxiang TAO Ji 2019Journal of Ocean University of China2019,18,6:5
318beta-glycyrrhetinic acid induces ROS-mediated apoptosis to ameliorate hepatic fibrosis by targeting PRDX1/2 in activated HSCs显示文摘Hepatic stellate cells(HSCs)are essential drivers of fibrogenesis.Inducing activated-HSC apoptosis is a promising strategy for treating hepatic fibrosis.18beta-glycyrrhetinic acid(18b-GA)is a natural compound that exists widely in herbal medicines,such as Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch,which is used for treating multiple liver diseases,especially in Asia.In the present study,we demonstrated that 18b-GA decreased hepatic fibrosis by inducing the apoptosis in activated HSCs.18b-GA inhibited the expression of a-smooth muscle actin and collagen type Ⅰ alpha-1.Using a chemoproteomic approach derived from activity-based protein profiling,together with cellular thermal shift assay and surface plasmon resonance,we found that 18b-GA covalently targeted peroxiredoxin 1(PRDX1)and peroxiredoxin 2(PRDX2)proteins via binding to active cysteine residues and thereby inhibited their enzymatic activities.18b-GA induced the elevation of reactive oxygen species(ROS),resulting in the apoptosis of activated HSCs.PRDX1 knockdown also led to ROS-mediated apoptosis in activated HSCs.Collectively,our findings revealed the target proteins and molecular mechanisms of 18b-GA in ameliorating hepatic fibrosis,highlighting the future development of 18b-GA as a novel therapeutic drug for hepatic fibrosis.Qian Zhang Piao Luo Liuhai Zheng Jiayun Chen Junzhe Zhang Huan Tang Dandan Liu Xueling He Qiaoli Shi Liwei Gu Jiahao Li Qiuyan Guo Chuanbin Yang Yin Kwan Wong Fei Xia Jigang Wang 2022Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2022,12,4:3
4Short-term exposure to fine particulate matter constituents and mortality:case-crossover evidence from 32 counties in China显示文摘A growing number of studies associated increased mortality with exposures to specific fine particulate(PM_(2.5))constituents,while great heterogeneity exists between locations.In China,evidence linking PM_(2.5)constituents and mortality was extensively sparse.This study primarily aimed to quantify short-term associations between PM_(2.5)constituents and non-accidental mortality among the Chinese population.We collected daily mortality records from 32 counties in China between January 1,2011,and December 31,2013.Daily concentrations of main PM_(2.5)constituents(organic carbon(OC),elemental carbon(EC),nitrate(NO_(3)^(-)),sulfate(SO_(4)^(2−)),and ammonium(NH_(4)^(+)))were estimated using the modified Community Multiscale Air Quality model.Time-stratified case-crossover design with conditional logistic regression models was adopted to estimate mortality risks associated with short-term exposures to PM_(2.5)mass and its constituents.Stratification analyses were done by sex,age,and season.A total of 116,959 non-accidental deaths were investigated.PM_(2.5)concentrations on the day of death were averaged at 75.7μg m^(−3)(control day:75.6μg m^(−3)),with an interquartile range(IQR)of 65.2μg m^(−3).Per IQR rise in PM_(2.5),EC,OC,NO_(3)^(-),SO_(4)^(2−),and NH_(4)^(+)at lag-04 day was associated with an increase in non-accidental mortality of 2.4%(95%confidence interval,(1.0–3.7),1.7%(0.8–2.7),2.9%(1.6–4.3),2.1%(0.4–3.9),1.0%(0.2–1.9),and 1.6%(0.3–2.9),respectively.Both PM_(2.5)mass and its constituents were strongly associated with elevated cardiovascular mortality risks,but only PM_(2.5),EC,and OC were positively associated with respiratory mortality at lag-3 day.PM_(2.5)mass and its constituents associated effects on mortality varied among sex-and age-specific subpopulations.Differences in the seasonal pattern of associations exist among PM_(2.5)constituents,with stronger effects related to EC and NO_(3)^(-)in warm months but SO_(4)^(2−)and NH_(4)^(+)in cold months.Short-term exposures to PM_(2.5)compositions were positively associated with increased risks of mortality,particularly those constituents from combustion-related sources.Peixuan Zhou Jianlin Hu Chuanhua Yu Junzhe Bao Siqi Luo Zhihao Shi Yang Yuan Shaocai Mo Zhouxin Yin Yunquan Zhang 2022Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,12:1
5A highly efficient protein corona-based proteomic analysis strategy for the discovery of pharmacodynamic biomarkers显示文摘The composition of serum is extremely complex,which complicates the discovery of new pharmacodynamic biomarkers via serum proteome for disease prediction and diagnosis.Recently,nanoparticles have been reported to efficiently reduce the proportion of high-abundance proteins and enrich lowabundance proteins in serum.Here,we synthesized a silica-coated iron oxide nanoparticle and developed a highly efficient and reproducible protein corona(PC)-based proteomic analysis strategy to improve the range of serum proteomic analysis.We identified 1,070 proteins with a median coefficient of variation of 12.56%using PC-based proteomic analysis,which was twice the number of proteins identified by direct digestion.There were also more biological processes enriched with these proteins.We applied this strategy to identify more pharmacodynamic biomarkers on collagen-induced arthritis(CIA)rat model treated with methotrexate(MTX).The bioinformatic results indicated that 485 differentially expressed proteins(DEPs)were found in CIA rats,of which 323 DEPs recovered to near normal levels after treatment with MTX.This strategy can not only help enhance our understanding of the mechanisms of disease and drug action through serum proteomics studies,but also provide more pharmacodynamic biomarkers for disease prediction,diagnosis,and treatment.Yuqing Meng Jiayun Chen Yanqing Liu Yongping Zhu Yin-Kwan Wong Haining Lyu Qiaoli Shi Fei Xia Liwei Gu Xinwei Zhang Peng Gao Huan Tang Qiuyan Guo Chong Qiu Chengchao Xu Xiao He Junzhe Zhang Jigang Wang 2022Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2022,12,6:0
6Short-term effects of fine particulate matter constituents on myocardial infarction death显示文摘Existing evidence suggested that short-term exposure to fine particulate matter(PM_(2.5))may increase the risk of death from myocardial infarction(MI),while PM_(2.5) constituents responsible for this association has not been determined.We collected 12,927 MI deaths from 32 counties in southern China during 2011–2013.County-level exposures of ambient PM_(2.5) and its 5 constituents(i.e.,elemental carbon(EC),organic carbon(OC),sulfate(SO_(4)^(2-)),ammonium(NH_(4)^(+)),and nitrate(NO_(3)^(-)))were aggregated from gridded datasets predicted by Community Multiscale Air Quality Modeling System.We employed a space-time-stratified casecrossover design and conditional logistic regression models to quantify the association of MI mortality with short-term exposure to PM_(2.5) and its constituents across various lag days.Over the study period,the daily mean PM_(2.5) mass concentration was 77.8(standard deviation(SD)=72.7)μg/m^(3).We estimated an odds ratio of 1.038(95%confidence interval(CI):1.003-1.074),1.038(1.013-1.063)and 1.057(1.023-1.097)for MI mortality associated with per interquartile range(IQR)increase in the 3-day moving-average exposure to PM_(2.5)(IQR=76.3μg/m 3),EC(4.1μg/m^(3))and OC(9.1μg/m^(3)),respectively.We did not identify significant association between MI death and exposure to water-soluble ions(SO_(4)^(2-),NH_(4)^(+)and NO_(3)^(-)).Likelihood ratio tests supported no evident violations of linear assumptions for constituents-MI associations.Subgroup analyses showed stronger associations between MI death and EC/OC exposure in the elderly,males and cold months.Short-term exposure to PM_(2.5) constituents,particularly those carbonaceous aerosols,was associated with increased risks of MI mortality.Shaocai Mo Jianlin Hu Chuanhua Yu Junzhe Bao Zhihao Shi Peixuan Zhou Zhiming Yang Siqi Luo Zhouxin Yin Yunquan Zhang 2023Journal of Environmental Sciences2023,,11:0
7Adsorption and desorption behavior under coal–water–gas coupling conditions of high- and low-rank coal samples显示文摘High-and low-rank coalbed methane(CBM)are both important fields of CBM development in China,but their formation and production mechanisms differ considerably.The adsorption/desorption behavior of high-and low-rank coals under the coupling of coal–water–gas was investigated using two series of samples.Coal samples from Zhangjiamao(ZJM)coal mine,Ordos basin,and Sihe(SH)coal mine,Qinshui basin,were tested by isothermal adsorption–desorption experiment,natural imbibition experiment,nuclear magnetic resonance,mercury injection porosimetry,contact angle test,and permeability test.Isothermal adsorption and desorption experiments under dry,equilibrium water,and saturated water,were performed to explore the differences between the adsorption and desorption characteristics.The results show that the wettability and permeability of the ZJM low-rank coal sample was considerably higher than that of the SH high-rank coal sample.The imbibition process of the ZJM sample exhibited a high imbibition rate and high total-imbibition volume,whereas the SH sample exhibited a slow imbibition rate and low total-imbibition volume.The ZJM sample had a complex pore structure and diverse pore-size distribution with a lower mercury withdrawal efficiency at 59.60%,whereas the SH sample had a relatively uniform pore-size distribution with a higher mercury withdrawal efficiency at 97.62%.The response of adsorption and desorption of the ZJM sample to water was more significant than that of the SH sample.The desorption hysteresis of the ZJM sample was stronger than that of the SH sample and was more prominently affected by water,which was consistent with its strong wettability and complex pore-throat configuration.A comprehensive adsorption and desorption mode was constructed for high-and low-rank coal samples under coal–water–gas coupling condition.The research results are important to enrich the geological theory of high-and low-rank CBM and to guide efficient CBM recovery.Chen GUO Jiang GOU Dongmin MA Yuan BAO Qingmin SHI Jiahao MENG Junzhe GAO Lingling LU 2023Frontiers of Earth Science2023,17,1:0
