| 2 | Clinical significance of loss of heterozygosity for M6P/IGF2R in patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM:To investigate the relationship between loss of heterozygosity (LOH) for mannose 6-phosphate/insulin- like growth factor 2 receptor (M6P/IGF2R) and the outcomes for primary HCC patients treated with partial hepatectomy. METHODS: The LOH for M6P/IGF2R in primary HCC patients was assessed using six different gene-specific nucleotide polymorphisms. The patients studied were enrolled to undergo partial hepatectomy. RESULTS: M6P/IGF2R was found to be polymorphic in 73.3% (22/30) of the patients, and of these patients, 50.0% (11/22) had tumors showing LOH in M6P/IGF2R. Loss of heterozygosity in M6P/IGF2R was associated with significant reductions in the two year overall survival rate (24.9% vs 65.5%; P = 0.04) and the disease-free survival rate (17.8% vs 59.3%; P = 0.03). | 3 | Low grade gastric mucosa associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma:Treatment strategies based on 10 year follow-up显示文摘AIM:To deduce strategic guidelines of gastric mucosa associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma (MALTOMA) by evaluating the long-term outcome of patients in respect to various treatment modalities.METHODS:A total of 55 patients with MALTOMA from May 1992 to August 2002 were retrospectively reviewed.RESULTS: Complete remission was obtained in 24 (82.8%) of 29 patients treated with anti Helicobacter pylori(H pylori) regimen only. | 9 | Stretchable and colorless freestanding microwire arrays for transparent solar cells with flexibility显示文摘Transparent solar cells(TSCs)are emerging devices that combine the advantages of visible transparency and light-toelectricity conversion.Currently,existing TSCs are based predominantly on organics,dyes,and perovskites;however,the rigidity and color-tinted transparent nature of those devices strongly limit the utility of the resulting TSCs for realworld applications.Here,we demonstrate a flexible,color-neutral,and high-efficiency TSC based on a freestanding form of n-silicon microwires(SiMWs).Flat-tip SiMWs with controllable spacing are fabricated via deep-reactive ion etching and embedded in a freestanding transparent polymer matrix.The light transmittance can be tuned from ~10 to 55% by adjusting the spacing between the microwires.For TSCs,a heterojunction is formed with a p-type polymer in the top portion of the n-type flat-tip SiMWs.Ohmic contact with an indium-doped ZnO film occurs at the bottom,and the side surface has an Al2O3 passivation layer.Furthermore,slanted-tip SiMWs are developed by a novel solventassisted wet etching method to manipulate light absorption.Finite-difference time-domain simulation revealed that the reflected light from slanted-tip SiMWs helps light-matter interactions in adjacent microwires.The TSC based on the slanted-tip SiMWs demonstrates 8%efficiency at a visible transparency of 10% with flexibility.This efficiency is the highest among Si-based TSCs and comparable with that of state-of-the-art neutral-color TSCs based on organic–inorganic hybrid perovskite and organics.Moreover,unlike others,the stretchable and transparent platform in this study is promising for future TSCs. | Sung Bum Kang Ji-Hwan Kim Myeong Hoon Jeong Amit Sanger Chan Ul Kim Chil-Min Kim Kyoung Jin Choi | 2019 | Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1: | 7 |
| 10 | Differential diagnosis of left-sided abdominal pain:Primary epiploic appendagitis vs colonic diverticulitis显示文摘AIM:To investigate the clinical characteristics of left primary epiploic appendagitis and to compare them with those of left colonic diverticulitis.METHODS:We retrospectively reviewed the clinical records and radiologic images of the patients who presented with left-sided acute abdominal pain and had computer tomography(CT) performed at the time of presentation showing radiological signs of left primary epiploic appendagitis(PEA) or left acute colonic diverticulitis(ACD) between January 2001 and December 2011. A total of 53 consecutive patients were enrolled and evaluated. We also compared the clinical characteristics,laboratory findings,treatments,and clinical results of left PEA with those of left ACD.RESULTS:Twenty-eight patients and twenty-five patients were diagnosed with symptomatic left PEA and ACD,respectively. The patients with left PEA had focal abdominal tenderness on the left lower quadrant(82.1%). On CT examination,most(89.3%) of the patients with left PEA were found to have an oval fatty mass with a hyperattenuated ring sign. In cases of left ACD,the patients presented with a more diffuse abdominal tenderness throughout the left side(52.0%vs 14.3%; P = 0.003). The patients with left ACD had fever and rebound tenderness more often than those with left PEA(40.0% vs 7.1%,P = 0.004; 52.0% vs14.3%,P = 0.003,respectively). | 16 | MOF‑Derived CoSe2@N‑Doped Carbon Matrix Confined in Hollow Mesoporous Carbon Nanospheres as High‑Performance Anodes for Potassium‑Ion Batteries显示文摘In this work,a novel vacuum-assisted strategy is proposed to homogenously form Metal-organic frameworks within hollow mesoporous carbon nanospheres(HMCSs)via a solid-state reaction.The method is applied to synthesize an ultrafine CoSe2 nanocrystal@N-doped carbon matrix confined within HMCSs(denoted as CoSe2@NC/HMCS)for use as advanced anodes in highperformance potassium-ion batteries(KIBs).The approach involves a solvent-free thermal treatment to form a Co-based zeolitic imidazolate framework(ZIF-67)within the HMCS templates under vacuum conditions and the subsequent selenization.Thermal treatment under vacuum facilitates the infiltration of the cobalt precursor and organic linker into the HMCS and simultaneously transforms them into stable ZIF-67 particles without any solvents.During the subsequent selenization process,the“dual confinement system”,composed of both the N-doped carbon matrix derived from the organic linker and the small-sized pores of HMCS,can effectively suppress the overgrowth of CoSe2 nanocrystals.Thus,the resulting uniquely structured composite exhibits a stable cycling performance(442 mAh g^−1 at 0.1 A g^−1 after 120 cycles)and excellent rate capability(263 mAh g^−1 at 2.0 A g^−1)as the anode material for KIBs. | Su Hyun Yang Seung‑Keun Park Yun Chan Kang | 2021 | Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,1: | 3 |

| 18 | Bevacizumab as a second- or later-line of treatment for metastatic colorectal cancer显示文摘AIM: To determine the efficacy of bevacizumab in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (MCRC) who have failed prior chemotherapy without bevacizumab. METHODS: Between March 2002 and June 2010, 40 patients in South Korea with MCRC who were treated with bevacizumab plus chemotherapy as a second or later-line treatment were analyzed retrospectively for their overall response rate (ORR), overall survival (OS), and progression-free survival (PFS). The tumor responses were assessed using the RECIST (Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors) guidelines. RESULTS: All of the patients had progressed under prior chemotherapy without bevacizumab. Three patients (7.5%) exhibited an ORR, twenty one patients (52.5%) exhibited stable disease (SD), and fifteen patients (37.5%) exhibited disease progression. The median duration of the OS and PFS were 14.0 and 6.13 mo respectively. The median OSs were 16.60, 14.07 and 13.00 mo for second-line, third-line and fourth- or later-line treatments, respectively. The median PFSs were 7.23, 7.30 and 3.87 mo for the second-line, third-line and fourth- or later-line treatments, respectively.
