| 1 | Sinomenine ester derivative inhibits glioblastoma by inducing mitochondria-dependent apoptosis and autophagy by PI3K/AKT/mTOR and AMPK/mTOR pathway显示文摘Glioblastoma multiforme(GBM)in the central nervous system is the most lethal advanced glioma and currently there is no effective treatment for it.Studies of sinomenine,an alkaloid from the Chinese medicinal plant,Sinomenium acutum,showed that it had inhibitory effects on several kinds of cancer.Here,we synthesized a sinomenine derivative,sino-wcj-33(SW33),tested it for antitumor activity on GBM and explored the underlying mechanism.SW33 significantly inhibited proliferation and colony formation of GBM and reduced migration and invasion of U87 and U251 cells.It also arrested the cell cycle at G2/M phase and induced mitochondria-dependent apoptosis.Differential gene enrichment analysis and pathway validation showed that SW33 exerted anti-GBM effects by regulating PI3 K/AKT and AMPK signaling pathways and significantly suppressed tumorigenicity with no obvious adverse effects on the body.SW33 also induced autophagy through the PI3 K/AKT/mTOR and AMPK/mTOR pathways.Thus,SW33 appears to be a promising drug for treating GBM effectively and safely. | Xiangjin Zheng Wan Li Huanli Xu Jinyi Liu Liwen Ren Yihui Yang Sha Li Jinhua Wang Tengfei Ji Guanhua Du | 2021 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2021,11,11: | 15 |
| 2 | An Arctic sea ice thickness variability revealed from satellite altimetric measurements显示文摘A modified algorithm taking into account the first year(FY) and multiyear(MY) ice densities is used to derive a sea ice thickness from freeboard measurements acquired by satellite altimetry ICESat(2003–2008). Estimates agree with various independent in situ measurements within 0.21 m. Both the fall and winter campaigns see a dramatic extent retreat of thicker MY ice that survives at least one summer melting season. There were strong seasonal and interannual variabilities with regard to the mean thickness. Seasonal increases of 0.53 m for FY the ice and 0.29 m for the MY ice between the autumn and the winter ICESat campaigns, roughly 4–5 month separation, were found. Interannually, the significant MY ice thickness declines over the consecutive four ICESat winter campaigns(2005–2008) leads to a pronounced thickness drop of 0.8 m in MY sea ice zones. No clear trend was identified from the averaged thickness of thinner, FY ice that emerges in autumn and winter and melts in summer. Uncertainty estimates for our calculated thickness, caused by the standard deviations of multiple input parameters including freeboard, ice density, snow density, snow depth, show large errors more than 0.5 m in thicker MY ice zones and relatively small standard deviations under 0.5 m elsewhere. Moreover, a sensitivity analysis is implemented to determine the separate impact on the thickness estimate in the dependence of an individual input variable as mentioned above. | 5 | The pleiotropic ABNORMAL FLOWER AND DWARF1 affects plant height, floral development and grain yield in rice显示文摘Moderate plant height and successful establishment of reproductive organs play pivotal roles in rice grain production. The molecular mechanism that controls the two aspects remains unclear in rice. In the present study,we characterized a rice gene, ABNORMAL FLOWER AND DWARF1(AFD1) that determined plant height, floral development and grain yield. The afd1 mutant showed variable defects including the dwarfism, long panicle, low seed setting and reduced grain yield. In addition, abnormal floral organs were also observed in the afd1 mutant including slender and thick hulls, and hull-like lodicules.AFD1 encoded a DUF640 domain protein and was expressed in all tested tissues and organs. Subcellular localization showed AFD1-green fluorescent fusion protein(GFP) was localized in the nucleus. | 6 | Clinical significance of germline copy number variation in susceptibility of human diseases显示文摘Germline copy number variation(CNV) is considered to be an important form of human genetic polymorphisms. Previous studies have identified amounts of CNVs in human genome by advanced technologies, such as comparative genomic hybridization, single nucleotide genotyping, and high-throughput sequencing. CNV is speculated to be derived from multiple mechanisms, such as nonallelic homologous recombination(NAHR) and nonhomologous end-joining(NHEJ). CNVs cover a much larger genome scale than single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs), and may alter gene expression levels by means of gene dosage, gene fusion, gene disruption, and long-range regulation effects, thus affecting individual phenotypes and playing crucial roles in human pathogenesis. The number of studies linking CNVs with common complex diseases has increased dramatically in recent years. Here, we provide a comprehensive review of the current understanding of germline CNVs, and summarize the association of germline CNVs with the susceptibility to a wide variety of human diseases that were identified in recent years. | 7 | Microwave-assisted hydrothermal synthesis of Pt/SnO2 gas sensor for CO detection显示文摘In this paper,the Pt/SnO2 nanostructures were prepared via a facile one-step microwave assisted hydrothermal route.The structure of the introduced Pt/SnO2 and its gas-sensing properties toward CO were investigated.The results from the TEM test reveal that Pt grows on the SnO2 nanostructure,which was not found for bulk in this situ method,constructing Pt/SnO2.The results indicated that the sensor using 3.0 wt%Pt/SnO2 to 100 ppm carbon monoxide performed a superior sensing properties compared to 1.5 wt%and 4.5 wt%Pt/SnO2 at 225℃.The response time of 3.0 wt%sensor is 16 s to 100 ppm CO at225℃.Such enhanced gas sensing performances could be attributed to the chemical and electrical factors.In view of chemical factors,the presence of Pt facilitates the surface reaction,which will improve the gas sensing properties.With respect to the electrical factors,the Pt/SnO2 plays roles in increasing the sensor’s response due to its characteristic configuration.In addition,the one-step in situ microwave assisted process provides a promising and versatile choice for the preparation of gas sensing materials. | Qingji Wang Liwen Bao Zongqiang Cao Chaoyang Li Xu Li Fangmeng Liu Peng Sun Geyu Lu | 2020 | Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,8: | 4 |

| 10 | A Matrilineal Genetic Legacy from the Last Glacial Maximum Confers Susceptibility to Schizophrenia in Han Chinese显示文摘Mitochondrial dysfunction has been widely reported in schizophrenia patients.To dissect the matrilineal structure of Han Chinese with or without schizophrenia and to decipher the maternal influence and evolutionary history of schizophrenia,a total of 1212 schizophrenia patients and 1005 matched healthy controls,all of Han Chinese origin,were recruited in Hunan Province,China.We classified haplogroup for each individual based on mitochondrial DNA(mtDNA) sequence variations and compared the haplogroup distribution pattern between cases and controls.Haplogroup B5 a presented a higher frequency in cases than in controls(P = 0.02,OR = 1.67,95%CI =[1.09,2.56]),and this result could be confirmed by permutation analysis.Age estimation of haplogroup B5 a in cases revealed a much younger age than that of controls,which was coincident with the Northern Hemisphere deglaciation at the end of the Last Glacial Maximum.Analysis of complete mtDNA in five patients belonging to haplogroup B5 a showed that this background effect might be caused by haplogroupdefining variants m.8584G>A and m.l0398A>G.Our results showed that matrilineal risk factor for schizophrenia had an ancient origin and might acquire a predisposing effect on schizophrenia due to the environment change and/or orchestration with other nuclear genetic factors appeared recently in human evolutionary history. | Wen Zhang Jinsong Tang A-Mei Zhang Min-Sheng Peng Hai-Bing Xie Liwen Tan Lin Xu Ya-Ping Zhang Xiaogang Chen Yong-Gang Yao | 2014 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2014,41,7: | 2 |
| 11 | Development and application of digital assistive teaching system for anatomy显示文摘Background Anatomy is a required course for all medicine-related industries.In recent decades,the teaching quality and effect of anatomy have been compromised by factors including a decrease in human body specimens,dampened enthusiasm for the discipline,reduced teaching hours of anatomy,scale expansion of medical education,and obstacles in performing field autopsies and observations.Methods Based on China's digitalized visible human research achievements,this article extracts the boundary information of anatomic structures from tomographic images,constructs three dimensional(3D)digital anatomical models with authentic texture information,and develops an anatomy assistive teaching system for teachers and students based on the knowledge points of anatomy,to meet the anatomy teaching requirements of different majors at various levels.Results This scientific,complete,and holistic system has produced over 60003D digital anatomical models,5000 anatomy knowledge points,50 anatomical operation videos,and 150 micro demonstration classes,with teaching contents for different majors and levels,such as systematic anatomy,topographic anatomy,sectional anatomy,anatomy of motion,and virtual anatomical operation table.Ranging from network terminals,desktops,touchscreen 3D displays,desktops,and projection 3D volumetric displays to augmented reality,its diversified interactive forms meet the requirements for a learning environment in different settings.Conclusions With multiple teaching and learning links covered,such as teaching environment,teaching resources,instructional slides,autonomous learning,and learning effect evaluation,this novel teaching system serves as a vital component and a necessary resource in anatomy teaching and functions as an important supplement to traditional anatomy teaching.Applied and promoted in most medical colleges and schools in China,this system has been recognized and approved by anatomy teachers and students,and plays a positive role in guaranteeing the effect and quality of anatomy teaching. | Na ZHANG Liwen TAN Fengying LI Bing HAN Yifa XU | 2021 | Virtual Reality & Intelligent Hardware2021,3,4: | 1 |
