The role of MC1R gene in buffalo coat color显示文摘Melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R) plays a major role in pigmentation in many species. To investigate if the MC1R gene is associated with coat color in water buffalo, the coding region of MC1R gene of 216 buffalo samples was sequenced, which included 49 black river buffalo (Murrah and Nili-Ravi),136 swamp buffalo (Dehong,Diandongnan,Dechang,Guizhou, and Xilin) with white and gray body, and 31 hybrid offspring of river buffalo Nili-Ravi (or Murrah) and swamp buffalo.Among the three variation sites found,SNP684 was synonymous, while SNP310 and SNP384 were nonsynonymous, leading to p.S104G and p.I128M changes, respectively.Only Individuals carrying homozygote EBR/EBR were black. The genotype and phenotype analysis of the hybrid offspring of black river buffalo and gray swamp buffalo further revealed that the river buffalo type allele EBR or the allele carrying the amino acid p.104S was important for the full function of MC1R.The in silico functional analysis showed that the amino acid substitutions p.G104S and p.M128I had significant impact on the function of MC1R.Above results indicate that the allele EBR or the allele carrying the amino acid p.104S was associated with the black coat color in buffalo. | MIAO YongWang1,2,WU GuiSheng3,WANG Lei2,LI DaLin4,TANG ShouKun5,LIANG JianPing2,MAO HuaMing2,LUO HuaiRong3 & ZHANG YaPing1,6 1 Laboratory for Conservation and Utilization of Bio-resource,Yunnan University,Kunming 650091,China 2 Faculty of Animal Science and Technology,Yunnan Agricultural University,Kunming 650201,China 3 Kunming Institute of Botany,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Kunming 650204,China 4 Yunnan Institute of Buffalo Science and Technology,Kunming 650021,China 5 Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Station of Luxi city,Luxi 678400,China 6 State Key Laboratory of Genetic Resources and Evolution,Kunming Institute of Zoology,Chinese Academy of Sciences,Kunming 650223,China | 2010 | Science China(Life Sciences)2010,53,2: | 8
Outage Probability Minimization for Low-Altitude UAV-Enabled Full-Duplex Mobile Relaying Systems显示文摘In this paper, a novel unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)-enabled full duplex decode-and-forward(DF) technique is used in mobile relaying system. Compared with conventional static relaying, mobile relaying provides more degree of freedom for experiencing better channel conditions and further improving the system reliable performance. The source and relay transmit power as well as relay trajectory are jointly optimized for sum outage probability minimization in mobile relaying system. Due to the non-convex nature of the original problem, block coordinate decent optimization techniques are employed to decompose it into two sub-problems, which leads to an efficient iterative algorithm. Specifically, for the pre-determined relay trajectory, the optimal transmit power of source and relay are obtained by solving Karush-Kuhn-Tucker(KKT) conditions. For the given source/relay power allocation, the optimal UAV trajectory is obtained by solving dual problem. Based on the two steps, an iterative algorithm is proposed to jointly optimize source/relay power allocation and UAV trajectory alternately. Numerical results show the performance gain of our proposed scheme. | Meng Hua Yi Wang Zhengming Zhang Chunguo Li Yongming Huang Luxi Yang | 2018 | China Communications2018,15,5: | 5

Association between duration of return of spontaneous circulation and outcomes after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest显示文摘Background:Return of spontaneous circulation(ROSC)is a core outcome element of cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR);however, the definition or criterion of ROSC is disputed and varies in resuscitation for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest(OHCA).Methods:This was a retrospective study of 126 patients with OHCA who achieved ROSC between January and December 2020.The probability of survival after OHCA related to CPR and ROSC duration was analyzed using the probability density function and empirical cumulative density functions. Results:There were no significant differences between ROSC sustained until emergency department arrival and that sustained for at least 20 minutes in terms of the 24-hour survival rate(31.3%[31/99]vs.35.7%[10/30];P=0.84),30-day survival rate(23.2%[23/99]vs.25.0%[7/30];P=0.99),or survival at 30 days with cerebral performance category(CPC)1 and 2(18.2%[18/99]vs.10.7%[3/30];P=0.44).The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test values from the empirical cumulative density functions with ROSC sustained until hospital arrival and that sustained for at least 20 minutes were 0.44,0.20,and 0.24 for CPC 1 or 2,CPC 3 or 4,and CPC 5,respectively.Conclusion:Return of spontaneous circulation is a core outcome element of CPR.It should be defined as sustained for at least 20 minutes or until arrival at the emergency department and as a basic standard for evaluating resuscitation success after OHCA. | Huixin Lian Andong Xia Xinyan Qin Sijia Tian Xuqin Kang Luxi Zhang Shengmei Niu Fei Qin Jinjun Zhang | 2022 | Emergency and Critical Care Medicine2022,2,4: | 1
Evaluating the effect of midpalatal corticotomy-assisted rapid maxillary expansion on the upper airway in young adults using computational fluid dynamics显示文摘Midpalatal corticotomy-assisted rapid maxillary expansion(MCRME)is a minimally invasive treatment of maxillary transverse deficiency(MTD)in young adults. However, the effect of MCRME on respiratory function still needs to be determined. In this study,we evaluated the changes in maxillary morphology and the upper airway following MCRME using computational fluid dynamics(CFD).Twenty patients with MTD(8 males,12 females;mean age 20.55 years)had cone-beam computed tomography(CBCT)images taken before and after MCRME.The CBCT data were used to construct a threedimensional(3 D)upper airway model. The upper airway flow characteristics were simulated using CFD,and measurements were made based on the CBCT images and CFD.The results showed that the widths of the palatal bone and nasal cavity, and the intermolar width were increased significantly after MCRME.The volume of the nasal cavity and nasopharynx increased significantly, while there were no obvious changes in the volumes of the oropharynx and hypopharynx.CFD simulation of the upper airway showed that the pressure drop and maximum velocity of the upper airway decreased significantly after treatment. Our results suggest that in these young adults with MTD,increasing the maxillary width, upper airway volume, and quantity of airflow by MCRME substantially improved upper airway ventilation. | Juan LI Lingfang SHI Xiayao ZHANG Luxi WENG Hong CHEN Jun LIN | 2021 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2021,22,2: | 1

Effects of a closed-loop system against SARS-CoV-2 at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games:a descriptive and modeling study显示文摘BACKGROUND:To assess the efficacy of the epidemic prevention measures of the“closed-loop”system adopted by the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games(BOWG).METHODS:We retrospectively collected and analyzed information, including age, sex, nationality, vaccination status, date of diagnosis, and date of entry, from 280 SARS-CoV-2-positive individuals identified during the BOWG.A susceptibility-exposed-infectious-remove model was employed to evaluate the effectiveness of epidemic prevention strategies on controlling the spread of SARS-CoV-2 under different scenarios during the BOWG.RESULTS:Regarding SARS-CoV-2-positive cases,97.9%were imported, and 96.4%were asymptomatic. The median age was 37 years(range:29–47 years),and 73.9%were male, with the majority of cases being broadcasters and European attendees.Regarding vaccination status,93.5%were fully vaccinated, and six cases were considered to have been infected in the closed-loop system during the BOWG.Assuming that the BOWG adopted a semi-closed-loop management system, the cumulative number of confirmed cases would be 1,137 for quick quarantine measures(3 d later)implemented and 5,530 for delayed quarantine measures(9 d later)implemented. This modeling revealed that stringent pandemic prevention measures and closed-loop management effectively controlled the spread of SARS-CoV-2 during the BOWG.CONCLUSION:Imported cases are considered the main risk factor for SARS-CoV-2 transmission during mass gatherings, but a comprehensive closed-loop system could minimize transmission among attendees and general personnel. | Rong Xiong Jieping Zhou Wenning Li Jie Liu Jing Lou Sijia Tian Huixin Lian Shengmei Niu Luxi Zhang Wenhang Li Jinjun Zhang | 2023 | World Journal of Emergency Medicine2023,14,6: | 0
The second polar body contributes to the fate asymmetry in the mouse embryo显示文摘The polar bodies(PBs)are extruded microcells during oocyte meiosis and generally regarded as inessentials for embryonic development. Therefore,PBs have been widely used as important materials for pre-implantation genetic diagnosis in human. Here we report that the second PB(PB2)in the mouse zygote may play roles in cell-fate specification and post-implantation development.A subset of mRNAs encoding pluripotency-related factors are enriched in PB2.Nascent proteins may be synthesized in PB2 after fertilization and transport from PB2 to the zygote before the two-cell stage. The PB2-attached blastomere(pbB)at the two-cell stage, compared to the other blastomere(npbB),likely contributes more descendants to the inner cell mass(ICM)lineage in the blastocyst.Removal of PB2 from the zygote or transient blockage of material exchange between PB2 and the zygote by nocodazole treatment appears to cause a loss of the ICM fate bias of pbB.PB2 removal or nocodazole treatment also results in abnormal post-implantation development.Injection of PB2 lysate into pbB of PB2-removed two-cell-stage embryos may reset the cell-fate preference and rescue post-implantation development. Our data collectively suggest that PB2 would demarcate the earliest cell-fate asymmetry of the mouse zygote and be required for post-implantation development. | Hongbin Jin Yang Han Huasong Wang J.Xiao He Li Weimin Shen Lin Zhang Luxi Chen Shunji Jia Ping Yuan Hui Chen Anming Meng | 2022 | National Science Review2022,9,7: | 0
Efficacy of acupuncture on repair of glial scars in rats with traumatic brain injury显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To explore the underlying mechanism of acupuncture on nerve repair by investigating its effect on the differentiation of glial cells and the repair of glial scars.METHODS:Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly allocated to three groups:normal group, model group, and acupuncture group.Acupuncture was applied at Renzhong(GV26),Baihui(GV20),Fengfu(GV16),Yamen(GV15)and Hegu(LI4)within 12 h after TBI modeling with a frequency of one session per day for 4 weeks.Neurobehavioral assessment, hematoxylin and eosin staining, immunofluorescence detection, and magnetic resonance imaging scanning were performed on days 3,7,14,and 28 after modeling of traumatic brain injury(TBI).RESULTS:Acupuncture promoted the proliferation of glial cells and glial scars at an early stage but inhibited the proliferation of glial cells and glial scars at a late stage.Morphological observations and immunofluorescence histochemistry showed that the morphology of the perilesional cortex in the acupuncture group was improved and the number of neurons was increased when compared with the model group. The lesion size of ipsilateral brain parenchyma in the acupuncture group was smaller than in the model group on days 7,14,and 28(P<0.05)after TBI modeling.CONCLUSIONS:Acupuncture might have a bidirectional regulatory effect on glial scar repair after TBI by promoting the proliferation of glial cells and glial scars to limit the injured area and relieve nerve injury during the early stages, and by inhibiting glial scar hyperplasia to benefit the regeneration and repair of neurons and axons and promote neurological function recovery during the later stages. | ZENG Hai CAO Luxi PANG Zhao ZHAO Sisi WANG Shiqi LIN Zhuowen CHEN Minan LIN Shujun ZHANG Yimin | 2023 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2023,43,2: | 0
Observation of the Effect of Gait-induced Functional Electrical Stimulation on Stroke Patients with Foot Drop显示文摘Objective:To explore the effects of functional electrical stimulation and functional mid frequency electrical stimulation on lower limb function and balance function in stroke patients.Methods:20 cases of stroke patients with foot drop after admission were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group,10 cases in each group. On the basis of the two groups of patients, the observation group used the gait induced functional electrical stimulation to stimulate the peroneal nerve and the pretibial muscle in the observation group. The control group used the computer medium frequency functional electrical stimulation to stimulate the peroneal nerve and the anterior tibial muscle for 2 weeks. Before and after treatment, the lower extremity simple Fugl-Meyer scale(FMA),the Berg balance scale(BBS)and the improved Ashworth scale were evaluated respectively, and the comparative analysis was carried out in the group and between the groups. Results:After 2 weeks of treatment, the scores of FMA and BBS in the two groups were significantly higher than those before the treatment(P<0.05),and the scores of FMA and BBS in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),and the flexor muscle tension of the ankle plantar flexor muscle of the observed group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusions:Exercise therapy combined with gait induced functional electrical stimulation or computer intermediate frequency functional electrical stimulation can significantly improve lower limb function and balance function in patients with ptosis, and the therapeutic effect of functional electrical stimulation combined with gait is better. | Anqi Zhang Mengjiao Wu Luxi Mao Qianhuan Zhang Bingqian Zhou Jingxin Wang | 2022 | Journal of Advances in Medicine Science2022,5,1: | 0
Low-Carbon Dispatch of an Integrated Energy System Considering Confidence Intervals for Renewable Energy Generation显示文摘Addressing the insufficiency in down-regulation leeway within integrated energy systems stemming from the erratic and volatile nature of wind and solar renewable energy generation, this study focuses on formulating a coordinated strategy involving the carbon capture unit of the integrated energy system and the resources on the load storage side.A scheduling model is devised that takes into account the confidence interval associated with renewable energy generation, with the overarching goal of optimizing the system for low-carbon operation. To begin with,an in-depth analysis is conducted on the temporal energy-shifting attributes and the low-carbon modulation mechanisms exhibited by the source-side carbon capture power plant within the context of integrated and adaptable operational paradigms.Drawing from this analysis,a model is devised to represent the adjustable resources on the charge-storage side, predicated on the principles of electro-thermal coupling within the energy system.Subsequently, the dissimilarities in the confidence intervals of renewable energy generation are considered, leading to the proposition of a flexible upper threshold for the confidence interval.Building on this,a low-carbon dispatch model is established for the integrated energy system, factoring in the margin allowed by the adjustable resources. In the final phase,a simulation is performed on a regional electric heating integrated energy system. This simulation seeks to assess the impact of source-load-storage coordination on the system’s low-carbon operation across various scenarios of reduction margin reserves. The findings underscore that the proactive scheduling model incorporating confidence interval considerations for reduction margin reserves effectively mitigates the uncertainties tied to renewable energy generation.Through harmonized orchestration of source, load, and storage elements,it expands the utilization scope for renewable energy, safeguards the economic efficiency of system operations under low-carbon emission conditions, and empirically validates the soundness and efficacy of the proposed approach. | Yan Shi Wenjie Li Gongbo Fan Luxi Zhang Fengjiu Yang | 2024 | Energy Engineering2024,121,2: | 0
