| 1 | Mapping wetland changes in China between 1978 and 2008显示文摘Four wetland maps for all China have been produced,based on Landsat and CBERS-02B remote sensing data between 1978 and 2008 (1978,1990,2000 and 2008).These maps were mainly developed by manual interpretation and validated by substantial field investigation in 2009.Based on these maps,we analyzed the 2008 wetland distribution in China and discussed wetland changes and their drivers over the past 30 years.(i) There were about 324097 km 2 of wetlands in 2008,for which inland marshes or swamps were the most common wetland type (35%),with lakes (26%) second.Most of the wetlands were in Heilongjiang,Inner Mongolia,Qinghai and Tibet,occupying about 55% of the national wetland area.(ii) From 1978 to 2008,China's wetland area continually and significantly decreased,by about 33% based on changes in the wetland map.This was in sharp contrast to the increase in artificial wetlands,which increased by about 122%.Inland marshes accounted for the main loss of total wetlands from 1978 to 2000.From 2000 through 2008,riverine and lacustrine wetlands constituted the main wetland loss.Fortunately however,the rate of wetland loss decreased from 5523 to 831 km 2 /a.(iii) The change ratio of lost natural wetlands (including inland and coastal wetlands) to non-wetlands has decreased slightly over the past 30 years.From 1978 to 1990,nearly all natural wetlands (98%) lost were transformed into non-wetlands.However,the ratio declined to 86% from 1990 to 2000,and to 77% from 2000 to 2008.(iv) All Chinese provinces were divided into three groups according to patterns of wetland changes,which could relate to the driving forces of such changes.Tibet was completely different from other provinces,as it was one representative example in which there was a net wetland increase,because of global warming and decreased human activity since 1990.Increased economic development caused considerable wetland loss in most eastern provinces,and artificial wetlands increased. | NIU ZhenGuo ZHANG HaiYing WANG XianWei YAO WenBo ZHOU DeMin ZHAO KuiYi ZHAO Hui LI NaNa HUANG HuaBing LI CongCong YANG Jun LIU CaiXia LIU Shuang WANG Lin LI Zhan YANG ZhenZhong QIAO Fei ZHENG YaoMin CHEN YanLei SHENG YongWei GAO XiaoHong ZHU WeiHong WANG WenQing WANG Hong WENG YongLing ZHUANG DaFang LIU JiYuan LUO ZhiCai CHENG Xiao GUO ZiQi GONG Peng | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,22: | 51 |

In this work, the thermoresponsive gelatin-functionalized polycaprolactone(PCL) films were proposed for improvement of cell adhesion and intelligent recovery of gene-transfected cells. Functional copolymer brushes(PCL-g-P(NIPAAm-co-MAAS)) were first prepared via surface-initiated ATRP of N-isopropylacrylamide(NIPAAm) and methacrylic acid sodium salt(MAAS) from the initiatorfuncationalized PCL surfaces. The pendant carboxyl end-groups of the PCL-g-P(NIPAAm-co-MAAS) surface were subsequently coupled with gelatin via carbodiimide chemistry to produce the thermo-responsive gelatin-functionalized PCL surface. The thermo-responsive gelatin-functionalized PCL film surface can improve cell adhesion and proliferation above the LCST of P(NIPAAm) without destroying cell detachment properties at lower temperatures. The dense transfected cells can be recovered simply by lowering culture temperature. | 11 | Production of transgenic pigs over-expressing theantiviral gene Mx1显示文摘The myxovirus resistance gene (Mx1) has a broad spectrum of antiviral activities. It is therefore an interestingcandidate gene to improve disease resistance in farm animals. In this study, we report the use of somatic cellnuclear transfer (SCNT) to produce transgenic pigs over-expressing the Mx1 gene. These transgenic pigs expressapproximately 15–25 times more Mx1 mRNA than non-transgenic pigs, and the protein level of Mx1 was alsomarkedly enhanced. We challenged fibroblast cells isolated from the ear skin of transgenic and control pigs withinfluenza A virus and classical swine fever virus (CFSV). Indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA) revealed a profounddecrease of influenza A proliferation in Mx1 transgenic cells. Growth kinetics showed an approximately 10-foldreduction of viral copies in the transgenic cells compared to non-transgenic controls. Additionally, we found thatthe Mx1 transgenic cells were more resistant to CSFV infection in comparison to non-transgenic cells. | 13 | Mechanical performance study of the retractable pier column after stiffening显示文摘To solve the problem that the overlapping parts of a retractable pier column are prone to damage,this paper proposed the reinforcing measure of setting a stiffener ring at the bottom of the steel pipe.To study how the stiffener-ring parameters influence the mechanical properties of the pier column.12 scale model specimens(including nine specimens with stiffener-ring widths of 40,50,and 60 mm and three unstiffened comparison specimens)were tested under axial compression.Based on the test results,the specimen load-displacement,load-deflection,and load-strain curves were analyzed,and a finite-element model of a pier column under axial compression was established to determine the optimal stiffener size.The results show that setting a stiffener ring enhances the cooperative working ability between the steel pipe and the internal filling material and restrains the lateral deformation of the pier column,thereby improving the ultimate bearing capacity and overall stability of the pier column.The ultimate bearing capacity of the pier column is related to the width and thickness of the stiffener ring.The optimal size of the stiffener ring of the model pier column is 70 mm in width and 4 mm in thickness.The present research results provide a reference for designing compressible pier columns and column stiffening in mines and have important practical significance. | Yi Zhang Xiaoye Wang Liming Zhao Jie Liu Nana Wang Yingying Ding | 2020 | International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2020,7,4: | 1 |

| 15 | The spatial pattern and governance of Zhongyuan Urban-Rural System in its development trajectory显示文摘It remains unclear on how transportation network interacts with economic network in an urban-rural agglomeration,while such knowledge is crucial for urban-rural system governance and sustainability.We explored such spatial interactions in the Zhongyuan Urban-Rural Agglomeration(ZURA)from 1995 to 2015.The structure of transportation network was measured by spatial syntax model,and that of economic network was gauged by improved gravity model.The associations between transportation and economic networks were investigated by conducting bivariate spatial autocorrelation analysis.The global Moran’s I showed that the two networks were positively correlated from 1995 to 2015.The local Moran’s I identified“high-high”associations between transportation and economic networks around core cities in 1995,which further extended to surrounding cities.Our results reveal that peripheral cities with highly developed transportation system have little spatial economic impact on neighboring rural areas,while cities with low transportation accessibility restrained its external economic influence of neighboring cities and rural areas.Our findings shed light on future urban-rural system governance,where the“multi-center,unbalanced”growth patterns of economic network and the“multi-core,multi-directional”structure of transportation network are more likely to contribute to the sustainability of urban-rural systems. | FU Haiyue WANG Yan MAO Liang HONG Nana WANG Zhaoya ZHAO Shuchang LIAO Chuan | 2022 | Journal of Geographical Sciences2022,32,7: | 1 |
| 16 | Remote Sensing-based Spatiotemporal Distribution of Grassland Aboveground Biomass and Its Response to Climate Change in the Hindu Kush Himalayan Region显示文摘The grassland in the Hindu Kush Himalayan(HKH) region is one of the large st and most biodiverse mountain grassland types in the world,and its ecosystem service functions have profound impacts on the sustainable development of the HKH region.Monitoring the spatiotemporal distribution of grassland aboveground biomass(AGB) accurately and quantifying its response to climate change are indispensable sources of information for sustainably managing grassland ecosystems in the HKH region.In this study,a pure vegetation index model(PVIM) was applied to estimate the long-term dynamics of grassland AGB in the HKH region during 2000-2018.We further quantified the response of grassland AGB to climate change(temperature and precipitation) by partial correlation and variance partitioning analyses and then compared their differences with elevation.Our results demonstrated that the grassland AGB predicted by the PVIM had a good linear relationship with the ground sampling data.The grassland AGB distribution pattern showed a decreasing trend from east to west across the HKH region except in the southern Himalayas.From 2000 to 2018,the mean AGB of the HKH region increased at a rate of 1.57 g/(m~2·yr) and ranged from 252.9(2000) to 307.8 g/m~2(2018).AGB had a positive correlation with precipitation in more than 80% of the grassland,and temperature was positively correlated with AGB in approximately half of the region.The change in grassland AGB was more responsive to the cumulative effect of annual precipitation,while it was more sensitive to the change in temperature in the growing season;in addition,the influence of climate varied at different elevations.Moreover,compared with that of temperature,the contribution of precipitation to grassland AGB change was greater in approximately 60% of the grassland,but the differences in the contribution for each climate factor were small between the two temporal scales at elevations over 2000 m.An accurate assessment of the temporal and spatial distributions of grassland AGB and the quantification of its response to climate change are of great significance for grassland management and sustainable development in the HKH region. | XU Cong LIU Wenjun ZHAO Dan HAO Yanbin XIA Anquan YAN Nana ZENG Yuan | 2022 | Chinese Geographical Science2022,32,5: | 1 |

| 19 | Effects of protein oxidation, cathepsins, and various freezing temperatures on the quality of superchilled sturgeon fillets显示文摘Many aquatic products have been stored using superchilling technology, but rarely used for the storage of sturgeon fillets. In this study, we investigated the effects of protein oxidation, cathepsin, and various freezing temperatures on the quality of superchilled sturgeon fillets. Sensory evaluation results showed that the sensory attributes of superchilled (−3 °C) sturgeon fillets were acceptable three times longer (18 days) than samples stored at refrigeration temperatures (4 °C). The sarcoplasmic protein, carbonyl, myofibrillar protein, total sulfhydryl content and the surface hydrophobicity were determined using fluorescence spectrophotometry and SDS-PAGE. Results showed that superchilling might protect myofibrillar proteins from oxidation compared to refrigeration temperatures. The activity of the three cathepsins (B, L, and H) in terms of myofibrillar, mitochondria, lysosomes, and sarcoplasm demonstrated that superchilling can inhibit cathepsins activity in sturgeon and protect its muscle structure. Microscopic observations showed that as the temperature decreased, the gap area of the muscle fibers decreased, and the deformation of cross-sectional slices was gradually reduced. In addition, the freezing rate of ice crystals produced during the freezing process influenced the muscle structure, texture, and sensory attributes. Superchilled sturgeon fillets showed good hardness, chewiness, and water retention. | 20 | Challenges and opportunities in remote sensing-based crop monitoring:a review显示文摘Building a more resilient food system for sustainable development and reducing uncertainty in global food markets both require concurrent and near-real-time and reliable crop information for decision making.Satellite-driven crop monitoring has become a main method to derive crop information at local,regional,and global scales by revealing the spatial and temporal dimensions of crop growth status and production.However,there is a lack of quantitative,objective,and robust methods to ensure the reliability of crop information,which reduces the applicability of crop monitoring and leads to uncertain and undesirable consequences.In this paper,we review recent progress in crop monitoring and identify the challenges and opportunities in future efforts.We find that satellite-derived metrics do not fully capture determinants of crop production and do not quantitatively interpret crop growth status;the later can be advanced by integrating effective satellite-derived metrics and new onboard sensors.We have identified that ground data accessibility and the negative effects of knowledge-based analyses are two essential issues in crop monitoring that reduce the applicability of crop monitoring for decisions on food security.Crowdsourcing is one solution to overcome the restrictions of ground-truth data accessibility.We argue that user participation in the complete process of crop monitoring could improve the reliability of crop information.Encouraging users to obtain crop information from multiple sources could prevent unconscious biases.Finally,there is a need to avoid conflicts of interest in publishing publicly available crop information. | Bingfang Wu Miao Zhang Hongwei Zeng Fuyou Tian Andries B Potgieter Xingli Qin Nana Yan Sheng Chang Yan Zhao Qinghan Dong Vijendra Boken Dmitry Plotnikov Huadong Guo Fangming Wu Hang Zhao Bart Deronde Laurent Tits Evgeny Loupian | 2023 | National Science Review2023,10,4: | 1 |
