| 1 | Puerarin protects brain tissue against cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury by inhibiting the inflammatory response显示文摘Puerarin, a traditional Chinese medicine, exerts a powerful neuroprotective effect in cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury, but its mechanism is unknown. Here, we established rat models of middle cerebral artery ischemia/reperfusion injury using the suture method. Puerarin(100 mg/kg) was administered intraperitoneally 30 minutes before middle cerebral artery occlusion and 8 hours after reperfusion. Twenty-four hours after reperfusion, we found that puerarin significantly improved neurological deficit, reduced infarct size and brain water content, and notably diminished the expression of Toll-like receptor-4, myeloid differentiation factor 88, nuclear factor kappa B and tumor necrosis factor-α in the ischemic region. | 2 | IL-33 induces immunosuppressive neutrophils via a type 2 innate lymphoid cell/IL-13/STAT6 axis and protects the liver against injury in LCMV infection-induced viral hepatitis显示文摘Viral hepatitis is still a public health problem affecting several million people around the world.Neutrophils are polymorphonuclear cells that have a critical role in antibacterial infection.However,the role of neutrophils in viral infection is not fully understood.By using a mouse model of lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus infection-induced viral hepatitis,we observed increased neutrophil recruitment in the liver accompanied by enhanced CD8+T-cell responses.Liver neutrophils expressed high levels of immunomodulatory cytokines,such as C-X-C chemokine ligand 2,arginase-1,inducible nitric oxide synthase and interleukin(IL)-10,demonstrating immunosuppressive properties.Depletion of neutrophils in vivo by a neutralizing antibody resulted in the exacerbation of liver injury and the promotion of T-cell responses at the immune contraction stage.IL-33 significantly induced neutrophil recruitment in the liver and attenuated liver injury by limiting effector T-cell accumulation.Mechanistically,we found that IL-33 promoted the expression of arginase-1 in neutrophils through the type 2 innate lymphoid cell(ILC2)-derived IL-13.Additionally,IL-13 increased the inhibitory effect of neutrophils on CD8+T-cell proliferation in vitro,partially through arginase-1.Finally,we found that IL-13 induced arginase-1 expression,depending on signal transducer and activator of transcription factor 6(STAT6)signaling.Therefore,IL-33 induced immunosuppressive neutrophils via an ILC2/IL-13/STAT6 axis.Collectively,our findings shed new light on the mechanisms associated with IL-33-triggered neutrophils in the liver and suggest potential targets for therapeutic investigation in viral hepatitis. | Yuejin Liang Panpan Yi Denley Ming Kee Yuan Zuliang Jie Zakari Kwota Lynn Soong Yingzi Cong Jiaren Sun | 2019 | Cellular & Molecular Immunology2019,16,2: | 7 |

| 7 | Ultrasonic Characteristics and Severity Assessment of Lung Ultrasound in COVID-19 Pneumonia:A Retrospective,Observational Study显示文摘The clinical application of lung ultrasound(LS)in the assessment of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pneumonia severity remains limited,Herein,we investigated the role of LUS imaging in CoVID-19pneumonia patients and the relationship between LUS findings and disease severity.This was a retro-spective,observational study at Tongji Hospital,on 48 recruited patients with COVID-19 pneu-monia,including 32 non-critically ill patients and 16critically ill patients.LUS was performed and the respiratory rate oxygenation(ROX)index,disease severity,and confusion,blood urea nitrogen,respira-tory rate,blood pressure,and age(CURB-65)score were recorded on days 0-7,8-14,and 15-21 after symptomonset.Lung images were divided into 12 regions,and the luS score(0-36 points)was calcu-lated.hestcomputed tomography(CT)scores(0-20 points)were also recorded on days O-7.Coelations between the LUS score,ROX index,and CURB-65 scores were examined.LUS detected COVID-19 pneumonia in 38patients.LUS signs included B lines(34/38,89.5%),consolidations(6/38,15.8%),and pleural effusions(2/38,5.3%).Most cases showed more than one lesion(32/38,84.2%)and involved both lungs(28/38,73.7%).Compared with non-critically ill patients,the LUS scores of critically ill patients were higher(12(10-18)vs 2(0-5),p<0.001).The LUS score showed significant negative cor-relations with the ROX indexon days O-7(r=-0.85,p<0.001),days 8-14(r=-0.71,p<0.001),and days 15-21(r=-0.76,p<0.001)after symptom onset.However,the LUS score was positively correlated with the CT score(r=0.82,p<0.001).The number of patients with LUS-detected lesions decreased from 27 cases(81.8%)to 20 cases(46.5%),and the lus scores significantly decreased from 4(2-10)to 0(0-5),(p<0.001) from days O-7 to 17-21.We conclude that LUS can detect lunglesions in COVID-19 pneumo-nia patients in a portable,real-time,and safe manner.Thus,LUS is helpful in assessing COVID-19 pneu-monia severity in critically ill patients. | Fengxue Zhu Xiujuan Zhao Tianbing Wang Zhenzhou Wang Fuzheng Guo Haiyan Xue Panpan Chang Hansheng Liang Wentao Ni Yaxin Wang Lei Chen Baoguo Jiang | 2021 | Engineering2021,7,3: | 1 |
| 8 | Self-Floating Efficient Solar Steam Generators Constructed Using Super-Hydrophilic N,O Dual-Doped Carbon Foams from Waste Polyester显示文摘Solar evaporation is recognized as a prospective technique to produce freshwater from non-drinkable water using inexhaustible solar energy.However,it remains a challenge to fabricate low-cost solar evaporators with obviously reduced water evaporation enthalpy to achieve high evaporation rates.Herein,N,O dual-doped carbon foam(NCF)is fabricated from the lowtemperature carbonization of poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET)waste by melamine/molten salts at 340℃.During carbonization,melamine reacts with carboxylic acids of PET degradation products to yield a crosslinking network,and then molten salts catalyze the decarboxylation and dehydration to construct a stable framework.Owing to rich N,O-containing groups,3D interconnected pores,super-hydrophilicity,and ultra-low thermal conductivity(0.0599 W m^(−1) K^(−1)),NCF not only achieves high light absorbance(ca.99%)and solar-to-thermal conversion,but also promotes the formation of water cluster to reduce water evaporation enthalpy by ca.37%.Consequently,NCF exhibits a high evaporation rate(2.4 kg m^(−2) h^(−1)),surpassing the-state-of-the-art solar evaporators,and presents good antiacid/basic abilities,long-term salt-resistance,and self-cleaning ability.Importantly,a large-scale NCF-based outdoor solar desalination device is developed to produce freshwater.The daily freshwater production amount per unit area(6.3 kg)meets the two adults’daily water consumption.The trash-to-treasure strategy will give impetus to the development of low-cost,advanced solar evaporators from waste plastics for addressing the global freshwater shortage. | Huiying Bai Ning Liu Liang Hao Panpan He Changde Ma Ran Niu Jiang Gong Tao Tang | 2022 | Energy & Environmental Materials2022,5,4: | 1 |
| 9 | Fibroblast exosomal TFAP2C induced by chitosan oligosaccharides promotes peripheral axon regeneration via the miR-132-5p/CAMKK1 axis显示文摘Chitosan and its degradation product,oligosaccharides,have been shown to facilitate peripheral nerve regeneration.However,the underlying mechanisms are not well understood.In this study,we analyzed the protein expression profiles in sciatic nerves after injury using proteomics.A group of proteins related to exosome packaging and transport is up-regulated by chitosan oligosaccharides(COS),implying that exosomes are involved in COS-induced peripheral nerve regeneration.In fact,exosomes derived from fibroblasts(f-EXOs)treated with COS significantly promoted axon extension and regeneration.Exosomal protein identification and functional studies,revealed that TFAP2C is a key factor in neurite outgrowth induced by COS-f-EXOs.Furthermore,we showed that TFAP2C targets the pri-miRNA-132 gene and represses miR-132-5p expression in dorsal root ganglion neurons.Camkk1 is a downstream substrate of miR-132-5p that positively affects axon extension.In rats,miR-132-5p antagomir stimulates CAMKK1 expression and improves axon regeneration and functional recovery in sciatic nerves after injury.Our data reveal the mechanism for COS in axon regeneration,that is COS induce fibroblasts to produce TFAP2C-enriched EXOs,which are then transferred into axons to promote axon regeneration via miR-132-5p/CAMKK1.Moreover,these results show a new facet of fibroblasts in axon regeneration in peripheral nerves. | Yahong Zhao Jina Liu Sha Liu Panpan Yang Yunyun Liang Jinyu Ma Susu Mao Cheng Sun Yumin Yang | 2023 | Bioactive Materials2023,,8: | 1 |

| 13 | An antibiotic composite electrode for improving the sensitivity of electrochemically active biofilm biosensor显示文摘Extensive research has been carried out for improved sensitivity of electroactive biofilm-based sensor(EAB-sensor),which is recognized as a useful tool in water quality early-warning.Antibiotic that is employed widely to treat infection has been proved feasible in this study to regulate the EAB and to increase the EAB-biosensor’s sensitivity.A novel composite electrode was prepared using azithromycin(AZM)and graphite powder(GP),namely AZM@GP electrode,and was employed as the anode in EAB-biosensor.Different dosages of AZM,i.e.,2 mg,4 mg,and 8 mg,referred to as 0.25%,0.5%and 1%AZM@GP were under examination.Results showed that EAB-biosensor was greatly benefited from appropriate dosage of AZM(0.5%AZM@GP)with reduced start-up time period,comparatively higher voltage output,more readable electrical signal and increased inhibition rate(30%-65%higher than control sensor with GP electrode)when exposing to toxic formaldehyde.This may be attributed to the fact that AZM inhibited the growth of non-EAM without much influence on the physiologic or metabolism activities of EAM under proper dosage.Further investigation of the biofilm morphology and microbial community analysis suggested that the biofilm formation was optimized with reduced thickness and enriched Geobacter with 0.5%AZM@GP dosage.This novel electrode is easily fabricated and equipped,and therefore would be a promising way to facilitate the practical application of EAB-sensors. | Shuyi Wang Xiang Qi Yong Jiang Panpan Liu Wen Hao Jinbin Han Peng Liang | 2022 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2022,16,8: | 0 |

| 16 | Composite B-cell and T-cell lymphomas:clinical,pathological,and molecular features of three cases and literature review显示文摘Composite lymphoma(CL)involving B-cell lymphoma and T-cell lymphoma is extremely rare.Herein,we report three such cases using immunohistochemistry,flow cytometry,and the next-generation sequencing(NGS)to identify the pathological and molecular characteristics of CL.In the first case,the patient was admitted to hospital for generalized pruritic maculopapular rash over the whole body.An excisional biopsy of the skin lesions showed T-cell lymphoma.At the same time,the staging bone marrow(BM)biopsy revealed a diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL).After R-CHOP(rituximab,cyclophosphamide,doxorubicin,vincristine,and prednisone)therapies,the patient produced a good response with substantial dissipation of the rashes and relief of skin.The other two patients were admitted to hospital due to lymphadenopathy and were diagnosed with DLBCL and follicular lymphoma(FL)after core needle biopsy of lymph nodes,BM biopsy,BM aspiration,and flow cytometry.Following R-CHOP and R-COP(rituximab,cyclophosphamide,vincristine,and prednisone)therapies,they achieved complete remission unconfirmed(CRu)and complete remission(CR).However,one or two years later,they suffered a relapse of lymphadenopathy.The shocking fact was that re-biopsy of lymphadenopathy revealed peripheral T-cell lymphoma(PTCL)and angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma(AITL).NGS findings identified DNA methyltransferase 3a(DNMT3a),isocitrate dehydrogenase 2(IDH2),Ras homolog gene family,member A(RHOA),splicing factor 3B subunit 1(SF3B1),and tumor protein p53(TP53)mutations.After immunochemotherapy,these patients achieved CRu and CR again.Nevertheless,they suffered a second relapse of T-cell lymphoma.Finally,they died due to progression of disease.We found that the occurrence of CL is associated with Epstein-Barr virus infection and DNMT3a,IDH2,and TP53 mutations,and the prognosis of the disease is closely related to the T-cell lymphoma components. | Xueli JIN Hui LIU Jing LI Xibin XIAO Xianggui YUAN Panpan CHEN Boxiao CHEN Yun LIANG Fengbo HUANG | 2023 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2023,24,8: | 0 |
| 17 | Multifaceted roles of LhWRKY44 in promoting anthocyanin accumulation in Asiatic hybrid lilies (Lilium spp.)显示文摘The Asiatic hybrid lily(Lilium spp.)is a horticultural crop with high commercial value and diverse anthocyanin pigmentation patterns.However,the regulatory mechanism underlying lily flower color has been largely unexplored.Here,we identified a WRKY transcription factor from lily tepals,LhWRKY44,whose expression was closely associated with anthocyanin accumulation.Functional verification indicated that LhWRKY44 positively regulated anthocyanin accumulation.LhWRKY44 physically interacted with LhMYBSPLATTER and directly bound to the LhMYBSPLATTER promoter,which enhanced the effect of the LhMYBSPLATTER-LhbHLH2 MBW complex activator on anthocyanin accumulation.Moreover,EMSA and dual-luciferase assays revealed that LhWRKY44 activated and bound to the promoters of gene LhF3H and the intracellular anthocyanin-related glutathione S-transferase gene LhGST.Interestingly,our further results showed that LhWRKY44 participated in light and drought-induced anthocyanin accumulation,and improved the drought tolerance in lily via activating stress-related genes.These results generated a multifaceted regulatory mechanism for the LhWRKY44-meditaed enhancement by the environmental signal pathway of anthocyanin accumulation and expanded our understanding of the WRKY-mediated transcriptional regulatory hierarchy modulating anthocyanin accumulation in Asiatic hybrid lilies. | Mengmeng Bi Rui Liang Jiawen Wang Yuxiao Qu Xin Liu Yuwei Cao Guoren He Yue Yang Panpan Yang Leifeng Xu Jun Ming | 2023 | Horticulture Research2023,10,9: | 0 |
| 18 | Kunming mouse strain is less susceptible to elastase-induced abdominal aortic aneurysms显示文摘Background:Porcine pancreatic elastase(PPE)is successfully used to induce abdominal aortic aneurysm(AAA)in mice.However,differences between mouse strains in susceptibility to PPE induction have been reported.Kunming mouse is one of the most frequently used strains in China but whether it is suitable for induction of AAA by PPE application remains unclear.Methods:PPE infusion(1.5 units/ml)in temporary controlled aorta was performed to induce AAAs in both C57BL/6J and Kunming mice.Phosphatebuffered saline(PBS)application was used as vehicle control.The aorta diameters of all mice were measured at days 0 and 14 after surgery to evaluate the AAA formation.Results:After 14 days of PPE or PBS infusion,all mice were sacrificed and aorta tissues were collected for histological staining analysis.At the 14th day after infusion,PPE successfully induced aortic dilation in Kunming mice and typical AAA in C57BL/6J mice.The aorta diameter increased by 0.23 mm in Kunming mice after PPE infusion,while it was 0.72 mm in the C57BL/6J strain.PPE induced mild elastin degradation,smooth muscle cell(SMC)depletion and mural leucocyte infiltration in Kunming mice,but in PPE-sensitive C57BL/6J mice,it induced total loss of SMCs,elastin disappearance and diffused infiltrated leucocytes in aortic aneurysmal segments.The effects of PPE in inducing angiogenesis and upregulating matrix metalloproteinase 2 and 9 expression in Kunming mice were also weaker than that in C57BL/6J mice.Conclusion:At the reported dose of PPE,Kunming mouse is not as susceptible to AAA formation as C57BL/6J mice.The failure of PPE to induce AAA formation in Kunming mice may be associated to its inability to boost a strong inflammatory response. | Haole Liu Kangli Tian Congcong Xia Panpan Wei Boyu Xu Weilai Fu Yankui Li Yafeng Li Liang Bai Rong Wang Weirong Wang Baohui Xu Enqi Liu Sihai Zhao | 2022 | Animal Models and Experimental Medicine2022,5,1: | 0 |
| 19 | J-shaped association between dietary zinc intake and new-onset hypertension:a nationwide cohort study in China显示文摘We aimed to investigate the relationship of dietary zinc intake with new-onset hypertension among Chinese adults.A total of 12,177 participants who were free of hypertension at baseline from the China Health and Nutrition Survey were included.Dietary intake was assessed by three consecutive 24-h dietary recalls combined with a household food inventory.Participants with systolic blood pressure≥140 mmHg or diastolic blood pressure≥90 mmHg or diagnosed by a physician or under antihypertensive treatment during the follow-up were defined as having new-onset hypertension.During a median follow-up duration of 6.1 years,4269 participants developed new-onset hypertension.Overall,the association between dietary zinc intake and new-onset hypertension followed a J-shape(P for non-linearity<0.001).The risk of new-onset hypertension significantly decreased with the increment of dietary zinc intake(per mg/day:hazard ratio(HR)0.93;95%confidence interval(CI)0.88–0.98)in participants with zinc intake<10.9 mg/day,and increased with the increment of zinc intake(per mg/day:HR 1.14;95%CI 1.11–1.16)in participants with zinc intake≥10.9 mg/day.In conclusion,there was a J-shaped association between dietary zinc intake and new-onset hypertension in general Chinese adults,with an inflection point at about 10.9 mg/day. | Panpan He Huan Li Mengyi Liu Zhuxian Zhang Yuanyuan Zhang Chun Zhou Ziliang Ye Qimeng Wu Min Liang Jianping Jiang Guobao Wang Jing Nie Fan Fan Hou Chengzhang Liu Xianhui Qin | 2023 | Frontiers of Medicine2023,17,1: | 0 |
| 20 | NLRP3 inflammasome signal pathway involves in Vibrio harveyi-induced inflammatory response in murine peritoneal macrophages in vitro显示文摘Vibrio harveyi,an important zoonotic pathogen,can infect wounds and cause inflammatory response.Understanding the inflammatory response pathways could facilitate the exploration of molecular mechanisms for treating V.harveyi infection.NLR family pyrin domain-containing 3(NLRP3)inflammasome is involved in the interaction between hosts&pathogenic microorganisms&could be sensed by various pathogen-associated molecular patterns(PAMPs)or damage-associated molecular patterns(DAMPs).Nonetheless,the function of NLRP3 inflammasome in V.harveyi infection remains unclear.In the present study,we established a V.harveyi infection model using murine peritoneal macrophages(PMs).Various techniques,including western blot analysis,enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),RT-qPCR,immunofluorescence,&inhibition assays,were used to explore the molecular mechanism of V.harveyi-induced inflammation.The results showed that many inflammatory cytokines participated in V.harveyi infection,with interleukin(IL)-1βbeing the most abundant.Pan-caspase inhibitor pretreatment significantly decreased the secretion of IL-1βin murine PMs.Moreover,the identification of V.harveyi involved a large number of NLR molecules,especially the NLRP3 receptor,&further studies revealed that NLPR3 inflammasome was activated by V.harveyi infection,as evidenced by puncta-like NLRP3 surrounding cell nuclear,ASC specks in the nucleus&cytoplasm,&ASC oligomerization.Inhibition of NLRP3 inflammasome impaired the release of mature IL-1βin V.harveyi-infected murine PMs.Furthermore,blocking the secretion of mature IL-1βcould markedly decrease the release of other proinflammatory cytokines,including IL-6,IL-12,&tumor necrosis factor-α.Overall,these data indicated that NLRP3 inflammasome was activated in response to V.harveyi infection and enhanced inflammatory response by promoting IL-1βsecretion in murine PMs. | Guili Yu Jinxin Wang Wei Zhang Qiankun Yang Gang Liu Lei Wang Babatunde Kazeem Bello Xiao Zhang Tianmeng Zhang Hui Fan Panpan Zhao Wei Liang Jingquan Dong | 2021 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,12: | 0 |
