| 2 | Effect of Liuweidihuang pill and Jinkuishenqi pill on inhibition of spontaneous breast carcinoma growth in mice显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the preventing and treating action of Liuweidihuang pill(LP) and Jinkuishenqi pill(JP) on spontaneous breast carcinoma in mice.METHODS: A model of spontaneous breast carcinoma was derived from 11.5-month-old female Kunming breeding mice following the delivery of several litters. The mice were randomly divided into five groups: model control group(C),Liuweidihuang pill high-dose group(LH; 4.6 g·kg1·d1),Liuweidihuang pill low-dose group(LL;2.3 g·kg1·d﹣1),Jinkuishenqi pill high-dose group(JH; 4.6 g·kg﹣1·d1) and Jinkuishenqi pill low-dose group(JL;2.3 g·kg﹣1·d﹣1). Cancer tissue volume was measured by water immersion. Histopathology was analyzed by hematoxylin and eosin staining. Vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK) and cyclin D1 protein expression in cancer tissue was assayed by western blotting.RESULTS: Compared with the control group,cancer tissue volume and weight were lower in the LP and JP groups,and survival time was longer. The expression of VEGF,ERK and Cyclin D1 were inhibited in the LP and JP groups(P < 0.05),and cell differentiation was increased. | 3 | A meta-analysis of Chinese herbal medicines for vascular dementia显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the efficacy and safety of Chinese herbal medicines in the treatment of patients with vascular dementia. DATA RETRIEVAL: We retrieved publications from Cochrane Library (2004 to July 2011), PubMed (1966 to July 2011), the Chinese Science and Technique Journals Database (1977 to July 2011), the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (1979 to July 2011), Google Scholar (July 2011), and the Chinese Biomedical Database (1977 to July 2011) using the'Chinese medicine OR Chinese herbal medicine' and 'vascular dementia OR mild cognition impair OR multi-infarct dementia OR small-vessel dementia OR strategic infarct dementia OR hypoperfusion dementia OR hemorrhagic dementia OR hereditary vascular dementia'. SELECTION CRITERIA: Randomized controlled trials comparing Chinese herbal medicines with placebo/western medicine in the treatment of patients with vascular dementia were included. Diagnostic standards included Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-IV, and National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke and Association Internationale pour la Recherché et l'Enseignement en Neurosciences. Two participants independently conducted literature screening, quality evaluation and data extraction. The quality of each trial was assessed according to the Cochrane Reviewers' Handbook 5.0. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Effective rate, Mini-Mental State Examination scores, Hasegawa Dementia Scale scores, and incidence of adverse reactions. RESULTS: We identified 1 143 articles discussing the effects of Chinese medicine on vascular dementia. Thirty-one of these were included in the analysis. These studies involved a total of 2 868 participants (1 605 patients took Chinese medicine decoctions (treatment group); 1 263 patients took western medicine or placebo). The results of our meta-analysis revealed that Chinese herbal remedies in the treatment group were more efficacious than the control intervention (relative risk (RR)=1.27; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.18-1.38, P<0.01). Mini-Mental State Examination scores were higher in patients taking Chinese herbal medicines than in those in the control group (weighted mean difference (WMD)=2.83; 95%CI: 2.55-3.12, P<0.01). Patients in the treatment group showed better disease amelioration than those in the control group (Hasegawa Dementia Scale scores; WMD=2.41, 95%CI: 1.48-3.34, P<0.01). There were also considerably fewer adverse reactions among those in the treatment group compared with those in the control group (RR=0.20, 95%CI: 0.08-0.47, P<0.01). CONCLUSION: Chinese herbal medicine appears to be safer and more effective than control measures in the treatment of vascular dementia. However, the included trials were generally low in quality. | 5 | Symptoms of long-term exposure to moxa smoke in acupuncturists: a correlation analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of long-term exposure to moxa smoke on acupuncturists and to consider the association between physical symptoms and gender, age, secondhand smoke(SHS) exposure, and the duration of exposure.METHODS: A self-report, web-based questionnaire was used to evaluate the effects of moxa smoke onacupuncturists. Logistic regression was used to analyze the relationship between physical symptoms and possible correlative factors.RESULTS: A total of 858 questionnaires were analyzed. The data showed that 42.42% of acupuncturists had been exposed to moxa smoke for 5-10 years. The most frequent symptom was tearing(32.98%) and the least frequent symptom was asthma(5.24%). Logistic regression analysis showed that female acupuncturists were slightly more susceptible to cough and tearing than males(cough:OR: 1.583, 95% CI: 1.079, 2.321, P = 0.019; tearing:OR: 1.519, 95% CI: 1.094, 2.108, P = 0.013). Acupuncturists aged over 25 years reported a slightly lower incidence of eye itchiness than those aged under25 years(26-40 years: OR: 0.604, 95% CI: 0.379,0.965, P = 0.035; over 40 years: OR: 0.330, 95% CI:0.114, 0.958, P = 0.042). Ophthalmodynia occurred less in acupuncturists aged 26-40 years(OR: 0.591,95% CI: 0.359, 0.970, P = 0.038) than in those younger than 25 years. The only association between prevalence of symptoms and tobacco use and SHS exposure was that smokers had a lower occurrence of phlegm in the throat(OR: 0.579, 95% CI: 0.392,0.856, P = 0.006). Shortness of breath was less frequent in participants exposed to moxa smoke for more than 5 years(5-10 years: OR: 0.400, 95% CI:0.204, 0.785, P = 0.008; 11-20 years: OR: 0.392, 95%CI: 0.178, 0.864, P = 0.02), but a slightly higher incidence of eye itchiness was found in those with over20 years of moxa exposure(OR: 4.200, 95% CI:1.344, 3.128, P = 0.014).CONCLUSION: The most frequent symptom of moxa smoke exposure in acupuncturists was tear-ing. The therapeutic effects may be influenced by a variety of factors.Stimulation quantity is one of the factors for achieving good therapeutic effects in acupuncture practice. With the development of science and technology, besides the influence of manual manipulations, the parameters adopted for electroacupuncture have become the benchmark of stimulation quantity. This study, by referring to the related literatures, is designed to explore the influence of manual manipulations and electrical parameters on therapeutic effects of acupuncture. | 7 | Modeling the spatiotemporal dynamics of electric power consumption in China' Mainland using saturation-corrected DMSP/OLS nighttime stable light data显示文摘Obtaining timely and accurate data on the spatiotemporal dynamics of electric power consumption(EPC)is crucial for the effective utilization of electric power in China.The Defense Meteorological Satellite Program’s Operational Linescan System(DMSP/OLS)nighttime stable light(NSL)data have good potential for estimating EPC effectively at large scales.However,saturated lighted pixels contained within the NSL data limit the accuracy of EPC estimation.We developed a new method to correct the saturated lighted pixels,using the SPOT VEGETATION(SPOT/VGT)10-day synthesis product(S10)normalized differ-ence vegetation index(NDVI)data and then modeled the spatiotemporal dynamics of EPC in China' Mainland from 2000 to 2008.The results demon-strated the reliability of our approach with an average Rvalue of 0.93(P<0.001)and an average relative error of-28.92%.EPC in China' Mainland showed an average annual growth rate of 13.46% during the study period from 1198.23 billion kWh in 2000 to 3290.51 billion kWh in 2008.EPC in China' Mainland also showed clear regional variation.Northern coastal China and eastern coastal China consumed 37.61%of the total EPC in China' Mainland,with only 25.96% of the population and 6.11% of the area. | Chunyang He Qun Ma Zhifeng Liu Qiaofeng Zhang | 2014 | International Journal of Digital Earth2014，7，12： | 5 |

| 11 | Marsdenia tenacissima injection induces the apoptosis of prostate cancer by regulating the AKT/GSK3β/STAT3 signaling axis显示文摘Marsdenia tenacissima injection,a standard Marsdenia tenacissima extract(MTE),has been approved as an adjuvant therapeutic agent for various cancers.Our previous study showed that MTE inhibited the proliferation and metastasis of prostate cancer(PCa)cells.However,the underlying mechanisms and active ingredients of MTE against PCa were not completely understood.This study revealed that MTE induced significant decreases in cell viability and clonal growth in PCa cells.In addition,MTE induced the apoptosis of DU145 cells by reducing the mitochondrial membrane potential and increasing the expression of Cleaved Caspase 3/7,Cyt c,and Bax.In vivo,DU145 xenografted NOD-SCID mice treated with MTE showed significantly decreased tumor size.TUNEL staining and Western blot confirmed the pro-apoptotic effects of MTE.Network pharmacology analysis collected 196 ingredients of MTE linked to 655 potential targets,and 709 PCa-associated targets were retrieved,from which 149 overlapped targets were screened out.Pathway enrichment analysis showed that the HIF-1,PI3K-AKT,and ErbB signaling pathways were closely related to tumor apoptosis.Western blot results confirmed that MTE increased the expression of p-AKT^(Ser473) and p-GSK3β^(Ser9),and decreased the expression of p-STAT3^(Tyr705) in vitro and in vivo.A total of 13 compounds in MTE were identified by HPLC-CAD-QTOF-MS/MS and UPLCQTOF-MS/MS.Molecular docking analysis indicated that six compounds may interact with AKT,GSK3β,and STAT3.In conclusion,MTE induces the endogenous mitochondrial apoptosis of PCa by regulating the AKT/GSK3β/STAT3 signaling axis,resulting in inhibition of PCa growth in vitro and in vivo. | LI Xiaolan HE Songhua LIANG Wei ZHANG Weiquan CHEN Xin LI Qiaofeng YANG Xin LIU Yanying ZHU Dan LI Li LIU Buming SU Zhiheng CHEN Jie GUO Hongwei | 2023 | Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2023，21，2： | 2 |
| 12 | Adsorption desulfurization of model gasoline by metal–organic framework Ni3(BTC)2显示文摘This work presented the synthesis of Ni-based metal-organic framework material with a paddle-wheel structure Ni3(BTC)2 (Ni-BTC) and its application in thiophene (TP) adsorption from gasoline distillate by batch method. Adsorption isotherms of TP, cyclohexene, and toluene in cyclohexane onto Ni-BTC were conducted at 298-308 K to interpret the different effect of cyclohexene and toluene on TP adsorption. The results showed that, compared w让h cyclohexene, toluene addition in model gasoline led to a more evident decline in sulfur capacity of Ni-BTC, which is opposite to isostructural HKUST-1. The adsorption isotherms of TP, cyclohexene and toluene fit Langmuir model, S-type model and Temkin model well, respectively, indicating that the adsorption mechanisms of TP and the two competitors are different from one another The adsorption capacities on Ni-BTC followed the order of cyclohexene < toluene < TP at the same equilibrium concentrations, implying the order of the adsorption affinities, which is in good agreement with the different extent of influence by the two competitors. The enthalpy of TP adsorption on Ni-BTC was estimated to be -80.01 kj/mol, almost twice that on HKUST-1. The poor reusability of Ni-BTC in batch experiment, which is owing to its sensitivity to the air, can be prevented from regenerating used Ni-BTC in fixed-bed reactor by N2 flow.
