| 1 | Current status of cell-mediated regenerative therapies for human spinal cord injury显示文摘During the past decade, significant advances have been made in refinements for regenerative therapies following human spinal cord injury(SCI).Positive results have been achieved with different types of cells in various clinical studies of SCI.In this review, we summarize recently-completed clinical trials using cellmediated regenerative therapies for human SCI, together with ongoing trials using neural stem cells.Specifically, clinical studies published in Chinese journals are included.These studies show that current transplantation therapies are relatively safe, and have provided varying degrees of neurological recovery.However, many obstacles exist, hindering the introduction of a specifi c clinical therapy, including complications and their causes, selection of the target population, and optimization of transplantation material.Despite these and other challenges, with the collaboration of research groups and strong support from various organizations, cell-mediated regenerative therapies will open new perspectives for SCI treatment. | Tongming Zhu Qisheng Tang Huasong Gao Yiwen Shen Luping Chen Jianhong Zhu | 2014 | Neuroscience Bulletin2014,30,4: | 7 |
| 2 | Inductive heat property of Fe_3O_4 nanoparticles in AC magnetic field for local hyperthermia显示文摘Magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles with different magnetic properties were prepared by coprecipitation of Fe3+ and Fe2+ with aqueous NaOH solution. The inductive heat properties of Fe3O4 nanoparticles in an alternating current (AC) magnetic field were investigated for local hyperthermia. The maximum saturation magnetization Ms of Fe3O4 nanoparticles is 65.53 emu·g-1 under the optimum conditions of Fe3+: Fe2+ molar ratio at 1.8:1. The Ms of Fe3O4 nanoparticles decreased as the Fe3+/Fe2+ molar ratio increased. But the coercivity Hc increases with the increasing of Fe3+/Fe2+ molar ratio. Exposed in the AC magnetic field for 29 min, the temperatures of physiological saline suspension containing Fe3O4 nanoparticles were 42-97.5 ℃. | 3 | Intraoperative ultrasound assistance in resection of intracranial meningiomas显示文摘Objective: Intracranial meningiomas, especially those located at anterior and middle skull base, are difficult to be completely resected due to their complicated anatomy structures and adjacent vessels. It's essential to locate the tumor and its vessels precisely during operation to reduce the risk of neurological deficits. The purpose of this study was to evaluate intraoperative ultrasonography in displaying intracranial meningioma and its surrounding arteries, and evaluate its potential to improve surgical precision and minimize surgical trauma. Methods: Between December 2011 and January 2013, 20 patients with anterior and middle skull base meningioma underwent surgery with the assistance of intraoperative ultrasonography in the Neurosurgery Department of Shanghai Huashan Hospital. There were 7 male and 13 female patients, aged from 31 to 66 years old. Their sonographic features were analyzed and the advantages of intraoperative ultrasonography were discussed. Results: The border of the meningioma and its adjacent vessels could be exhibited on intraoperative ultrasonography. The sonographic visualization allowed the neurosurgeon to choose an appropriate approach before the operation. In addition, intraoperative ultrasonography could inform neurosurgeons about the location of the tumor, its relation to the surrounding arteries during the operation, thus these essential arteries could be protected carefully. Conclusions: Intraoperative ultrasonography is a useful intraoperative technique. | 4 | Evaluation of reference genes for quantitative real-time PCR analysis of gene expression during early development processes of the tongue sole(Cynoglossus semilaevis)显示文摘Differential expression of genes is crucial to growth and development of fish.To select the appropriate genes for gene normalization during Cynoglossus semilaevis early developmental process,eight candidate reference genes(ACTB,B2 M,EF1 A,GADPH,RPL7,TUBA,UBCE and 18S) were tested for their adequacy by using quantitative real-time PCR.The results showed that the expression of all the examined genes exhibited tissue dependent variations in the mature C.semilaevis.EF1 A was listed as the most stable reference among the 14 tissues by Ref Finder.Furthermore,the recommended comprehensive ranking of the stability determined by Ref Finder showed that 18 S was the most stable gene during the early developmental stages(from oosphere to 90 days old) in this study.However,when divided the Ct value data of the above mentioned early developmental stages into two separate periods(embryo and post-hatching periods),TUBA and 18 S represented the most stable references of these two developmental periods,respectively.Consequently,the reference gene should be carefully and accurately chosen even for studies of the same species at various developmental processes.The relevant data may help in selecting appropriate reference genes for m RNA expression analysis,and is of great value in the studies of fish growth and development. | MA Qian ZHUANG Zhimeng FENG Wenrong LIU Shufang TANG Qisheng | 2015 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2015,34,10: | 3 |
| 5 | Spatial distribution and reconstruction potential of Japanese anchovy(Engraulis japonicus) based on scale deposition records in recent anaerobic sediment of the Yellow Sea and East China Sea显示文摘Many studies have revealed that anchovy has exhibited large variability in population size on decadal timescales. However, such works concerning anchovy population are mainly based on short historical catch records. In order to understand the causes of variability in fish stocks(natural and/or anthropogenic) and calibrate the error between catches and standing stocks, it is essential to develop long-term time series of fish stocks from the time when human impacts are minimal or negligible. Well preserved fish scales from sediment record are regarded as useful indicators revealing the history of fish population dynamics over the last centuries. Anchovy scales was first analyzed over the Yellow Sea and East China Sea and the largest abundance was found in the central South Yellow Sea where is regarded as the largest overwintering ground for Japanese anchovy(Engraulis japonicas). Thus in the central South Yellow Sea, two cores covering the last 150 years were collected for estimating fish scale flux. The scale deposition rate(SDR) records show that the decadal scale SDRs were obviously coherent between cores with independent chronologies. The calibration of downcore SDRs to the standing stocks of anchovy further validated that SDR is a reliable proxy to reconstruct the long-term anchovy population dynamic in the central South Yellow Sea where anoxic conditions prevail in the sediment. | 6 | Genetic Variation Among White Croaker Populations显示文摘To investigate the genetic structures and differentiation of different wild populations of white croaker (Pennahia argen- tata), horizontal starch gel electrophoresis was performed on 133 individuals collected from five different locations in China and Japan. The eleven enzyme systems revealed 15 loci, of which eleven were polymorphic. The percentage of polymorphic loci of white croaker populations varied from 6.67% to 53.33%; the mean observed and expected heterozygosity ranged from 0.0033 to 0.0133 and 0.0032 to 0.0191, respectively. The expected heterozygosity revealed a low genetic variability for white croaker in comparison with other marine fishes. The genetic distances between populations ranged from 0.00005 to 0.00026. A weak differentiation was observed within each clade and between clades; and no significant differences in gene frequencies among populations were observed in white croaker. | 16 | BCNU/PLGA microspheres:a promising strategy for the treatment of gliomas in mice显示文摘Objective:To investigate the effects of BCNU/PLGA microspheres on tumor growth,apoptosis and chemotherapy resistance in a C57BL/6 mice orthotopic brain glioma model using GL261 cell line.Methods:BCNU/PLGA sustained-release microspheres were prepared by the water-in-oil-in-water emulsion technique.GL261 cells were intracranially injected into C57BL/6 mouse by using the stereotactic technology.A total of 60 tumor-bearing mice were randomly and equally divided into three groups:untreated control,PLGA treated,BCNU/PLGA treated.Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) was taken to evaluate tumor volume.BCNU/PLGA sustained-release wafers were implanted in the treatment group two weeks after inoculation.Survival time and quality were observed.Specimens were harvested,and immunohistochemical staining was used to check the expression of Bax,Bcl-2,and O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase(MGMT).Statistical methods was used for analysis of relevant data.Results:BCNU/PLGA sustained-release wafers were fabricated and implanted successfully.There is statistical difference of survival time between the BCNU/PLGA treated group and control groups(P<0.05).MRI scan showed inhibitory effect of BCNU/PLGA on tumor growth.Compared to the group A and B,BCNU/PLGA decreased the expression of apoptosis related gene Bcl-2(P<0.05),but did not elevate the expression level of Bax(P>0.05),with the ratio of Bax/Bcl-2 increased.For MGMT protein expression,no statistically significant change was found in treated group(P>0.05).Conclusions:Local implantation of BCNU/PLGA microspheres improved the survival quality and time of GL261 glioma-bearing mice significantly,inhibited the tumor proliferation,induced more cell apoptosis,and did not increase the chemotherapy resistance. | Tongming Zhu Yiwen Shen Qisheng Tang Luping Chen Huasong Gao Jianhong Zhu | 2014 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2014,26,1: | 0 |

| 20 | RR-1 cuticular protein TcCPR69 is required for growth and metamorphosis in Tribolium castaneum显示文摘Cuticle is not only critical for protecting insects from noxious stimuli but is also involved in a variety of metabolic activities.Cuticular proteins(CPs)affect cuticle structure and mechanical properties during insect growth,reproduction,and environmental adaptation.Here,we describe the identification and characterization of a member of the RR-1 subfamily of CPs with an R&R consensus(CPR)in Tribolium castaneum(TcCPR69).Although it was previously reported to be highly expressed in the wings,we found that knocking down TcCPR69 by RNA interference(RNAi)did not cause obvious wing abnormalities but markedly disrupted the growth and metamorphosis of beetles with 100%cumulative mortality;additionally,the chitin content of the pharate adult was decreased and the new abdominal cuticle was significantly thinner before molting.TcCPR69 showed chitin-binding ability and the expression levels of key genes involved in chitin metabolism(trehalase[TcTRE],chitin synthase[TcCHSA and TcCHSB],and chitinase[TcCHT5 and TcCHT10])were also decreased by TcCPR69 knockdown.TcCPR69 gene expression peaked shortly after molting and was increased 2.61 fold at 12 h after 20-hydroxyecdysone(20E)injection.This was reversed by RNAi of the ecdysone-related genes ecdysone receptor(TcECR)and fushi tarazu transcription factor 1(TcFTZ-F1).These results indicate that TcCPR69 is positively regulated by 20E signaling to contribute to cuticle formation and maintain chitin accumulation during the growth and metamorphosis of beetles. | Jia Xie Guifang Peng Miao Wang Qisheng Zhong Xiaowen Song Jingxiu Bi Jing Tang Fan Feng Han Gao Bin Li | 2022 | Insect Science2022,29,6: | 0 |
